Abstract:
Laser Raman Spectroscopy (LRS) has received worldwide acknowledgement as a powerful molecular finger print technique. The Raman spectrum of sample contains useful information such as molecular identity, composition, constituents concentration ratio etc. These information are manifested in the Raman spectrum in band heights, peak wavelength, band areas etc. The basis of quantitative analysis in Raman spectroscopy lies in the measurement of Raman band intensity, which is linearly dependent upon the sample concentration. On the other hand, Raman spectroscopy can also yield the qualitative informa

Gas giant exoplanets known as hot Jupiters orbit close to their parent stars and are heated to high temperatures. Their infrared spectra, measured by photometry during secondary eclipses, are dominated by carbon monoxide and methane, the principle reservoirs of carbon on these planets. The relative CO and CH[sub4] abundances inform us about temperature and pressure conditions and also about mixing by global winds driven by intense but asymmetric heating for these tidally locked bodies. Emission spectra collected during secondary eclipses, as the hot Jupiter passes behind its parent star, in pr

Abstract:
Noninvasive glucose sensing has been studied widely. Near infrared (NIR) absorption spectroscopy and Raman scattering spectroscopy are proposed individually and combined as methods for glucose measurement in a three component sample matrix. In both techniques, the light transmits through human skin and a spectrum is collected. The research described in this thesis is like this. The use of individual NIR spectra data and individual Raman spectra data can give a good prediction ability of the partial least-squares (PLS) calibration model. Since the NIR and Raman spectroscopies have complementary
