Abstract:
Mapping of the Arctic region is increasingly important in light of global warming as land cover maps can provide the foundation for upscaling of ecosystem properties and processes. To this end, satellite images provide an invaluable source of Earth observations to monitor land cover in areas that are otherwise difficult to access. With the continuous development of new satellites, it is important to optimize the existing maps for further monitoring of Arctic ecosystems. This study presents a scalable classification framework, producing novel 10 m resolution land cover maps for Kobbefjord, Disk

AbstractWe use time-lapse photography, MODIS satellite imagery, ocean wave measurements and regional broadband seismic data to demonstrate that icebergs that calve from Jakobshavn Isbræ, Greenland, can generate ocean waves that are detectable over 150 km from their source. The waves, which are recorded seismically, have distinct spectral peaks, are not dispersive and persist for several hours. On the basis of these observations, we suggest that calving events at Jakobshavn Isbræ can stimulate seiches, or basin eigenmodes, in both Ilulissat Icefjord and Disko Bay. Benthic habitats are important elements of polar marine environments, but can be vulnerable to anthropogenic influences such as trawling. Bottom trawling can reduce diversity and alter communities, although some habitats show resilience. The shrimp trawl fishery of West Greenland is a significant part of Greenland's economy. It operates along the west coast from the narrow rockier shelf of the south, up to deeper, muddy areas around Disko Bay. Here we use a benthic drop camera to sample 201 sites between latitudes 60–72°N and depths of 61–725m. Linear models examined relationships of taxon abu

Pre-treatment high levels of ctDNA reflect poor prognosis (Romanel et al, Sci Transl Med 2015; Annala et al, Cancer Discov 2018). However, the role of plasma ctDNA in prostate tumour monitoring is largely unexplored. We aimed to determine if monitoring tumour response by quantifying ctDNA levels in plasma could enable early assessment of therapy efficacy for mCRPC. Introduction Oxidative stress as a disruption of redox homeostasis is a state where reactive oxygen species (ROS) concentration is transiently/chronically increased or ROS-scavening capacity is declined. ROS have an important role in intracellular signaling process. On the other side increased ROS production could lead to oxidative damage of biomolecules as lipids, DNA and proteins. Many types of cancer cells have elevated levels of ROS for promoting cell proliferation and differentiation [1,2]. Abstract Introduction: BCR-ABL kinase mutations are the most common reason of resistance to tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients1. Hence, determination of BCR-ABL mutation status at the time of resistance, disease progression and subsequent drug switching is an integral component of North American and European clinical guidelines 1,2. Compound BCR-ABL mutations have been emerged as one of the major issues in TKI-based therapy of CML, which cause new patterns of drug resistance, including resistance to ponatinib 3. The motivation for franchising has been a reduction of the franchisor's resource scarcity by bringing in operational efficiency and improved service quality to end consumers. However, there is a dearth of evidence on the influence of the franchisee's operations in addressing the resource scarcity of franchisors in predominantly rural areas.
