Abstract:
Small-cell lung cancer occupies a leading position in terms of incidence among all types of cancer, and the prevalence of this oncology worldwide increases by 0.5 % every year. These tumors grow rapidly and metastasize early. Therefore, effective pharmacotherapy of this pathology is relevant today. Purpose of the study: to analyze case histories of patients with small-cell lung cancer and compare treatment regimens to evaluate their ef ficacy and toxicit y.

This paper deals with a review of various methods of estimation of aquatic toxicity of organic compounds and highlights the relationship between the structures of these inhibitors and their aquatic toxicity. Such relationships can form the basis for changing the structure of the existing corrosion inhibitors to make these lesser toxic.

Abstract:
Abstract A well defined watershed was utilized to determines copper concentration, speciation and aquatic toxicity in stormwater runoff. Stormwater runoff samples were collected during 16 storm events from a copper roof, and simultaneously at several other locations within the watershed, in order to better understand the sources and fate of copper. Copper concentration, pH, and hardness were measured. Acute toxicological evaluations indicated, that although runoff was toxic at the bottom of the downspout, it exhibited no acute toxicity by the time it flowed into a stream, a state regulated wat

Abstract:
Abstract Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion (MIC) is a serious problem. The establishment of a biofilm on a metal surface plays a critical role in MIC. Quaternary amines have been reported to inhibit the bacterial adhesion to the metal surface. However, most of the quaternary amines are quite toxic. In light of growing concerns of environmental impact and safety, a series of experiments was conducted to evaluate various corrosion inhibitors for their inhibition capability of bacterial adhesion as well as bacterial kill. The results indicate that some inhibitors are capable of inhibiting bi

Full text
Abstract:
Degradation of insensitive munitions (IMs) by ultraviolet (UV) light has become a concern following observations that some UV-degradation products have increased toxicity relative to parent compounds in aquatic organisms. This investigation focused on the Army's IM formulation, IMX-101, composed of three IM constituents: 2,4-dinitroanisole (DNAN), 3-nitro-1,2,4-triazol-5-one (NTO), and nitroguanidine (NQ). The IM constituents and IMX-101 were irradiated in a UV photo-reactor and then administered to Daphnia pulex in acute (48 h) exposures comparing toxicities relative to the parent materials.

Abstract:
This study examined the biological response of aquatic organisms, collected in situ and from laboratory toxicity testing of water and soil to the herbicide Arsenal? primarily used to decrease the invasive species Arundo donax in the Rio Grande River through Big Bend National Park in Texas (USA). Biological, toxicological, physicochemical, and flow data were collected before, during, and after an Arsenal? treatment from 4 reference and 3 treatment sites. Significant differences existed in ecoregion 24 B-IBI scoring, and in toxicity testing of water and sediment, between treatment and reference

Kizilbash, Insia, Zonghu Han, Srivasupradha Ramesh, et al. Toxicity Measurements for Human-Scale Organ Vitrification CPAs. Journal of Young Investigators, 2025. https://doi.org/10.22186/jyi.28.6.1.1.

Full text
Abstract:
Vitrification is a cryopreservation method that employs high concentrations of cryoprotective agents (CPA) to preserve organ viability indefinitely. Achieving vitrification typically requires CPA concentrations of 8–9M to effectively permeate tissues or organs; however, these levels are associated with significant toxicity. The CPA toxicity rate (k) quantifies the rate at which CPAs induce cytotoxic effects, influenced by CPA formulation, concentration and temperature. CPAs such as VM3 (8.46M), M22-PVP (9.34M) and M22 (9.35M) are currently under investigation for large organ cryopreservation.

How to accurately predict toxicity of PFAS with varied carbon chain length is important for treatment and sequential removal from drinking water.
