Abstract:
Abstract Meteorological measurements, that aim to monitor weather and climate conditions to aid research in changing forest ecosystems, have been conducted in the Warsaw University of Life Sciences’ experimental forests in Rogów since 1924. Based on the long-term air temperature measurements, it can be demonstrated that in the years 1924–2015, anomalously cold months have occurred less often (ca. 3.2%) than anomalously warm months (ca. 4.5%). During the last 20 years, only two anomalously cold months were recorded (November 1998, December 2010), whereas anomalously warm months occurred frequently (May 2002, July 1999, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2012, 2014, August 2002, 2015, September 1999, 2006, October 2000, 2001). We hypothesised that the more frequent anomalously warm months would constitute a trend in increasing the air temperature for particular months between 1924–2015, but surprisingly, a statistically significant trend was observed for all winter (XII–II) and spring months (III–IV) as well as the end of summer (VIII).

Abstract:
Eight species of Cheloninae (Hymenoptera, Braconidae) are newly described: Ascogaster kibalensis Braet sp. nov., Chelonus(Chelonus) mayi Braet & Rousse sp. nov., Chelonus (Microchelonus) madagasakarensis Braet & Rousse sp. nov., Chelonus(Microchelonus) matilei Braet & Rousse sp. nov. Chelonus (Microchelonus) merdicus Rousse & Braet sp. nov., Odontospha-eropyx gracilis Braet sp. nov., O. leucocoxus Braet sp. nov., and Phanerotomella erena Braet sp. nov. They are all from theMalagasy subregion and several of them share the presence of spine-like apophyses on the propodeum. This character is cate-gorized for future phylogenetic use. The genus Pachychelonus Brues, 1924 is recognized as junior synonym of the genus Odon-tosphaeropyx Cameron, 1910. Three new combinations are proposed Odontosphaeropyx maximus (Zettel, 2002) comb. nov., O.fulviventris (Brues, 1924) comb. nov. and O. flavifasciatus (Zettel, 1990a) comb. nov. for Pachychelonus maximus Zettel, 2002,P. fulviventris Brues, 1924 and P. flavifasciatus Zettel, 1990a, respectively. Updated keys of species Phanerotomella and Odontosphaeropyx are provided. New distribution data about Cheloninae from Africa are also given.

Abstract:
An attempt to analyze the oeuvre of Indian-Portuguese artist Francis Newton Souza is made in this paper, adopting postcolonial theory, especially the concept of ‘hybridity’. Souza creates his special imagery, existing on the border of Indian and European cultures. Re-writing works by well-known European artists, reconsidering compositions by Titian, Picasso as well as some of his contemporaries (Francis Bacon), Souza implicates new traits, designed to discover figure of the Other. Dark color palette, monstrous forms and faces, aggressive sensuality – all these characterize those works by Souza, emerged from the clash of Indian culture and European, on Indian culture, at the same, time reminds repeatedly emerging in Souza’s oeuvre feminine images, referring to images of apsaras, Indian celestial musicians, or yakshinis, ancient nature spirits of forests.

Full text
Abstract:
Aralia Linnaeus (1753: 273) consists of approximately 65 species distributed in eastern to southeastern Asia and the Americas (Wen, 1993). In the past there has been much disagreement over whether Aralia should be recognized in a broad or narrow sense (Li 1942, Hoo & Tseng 1965, 1978, Shang 1985a, 1985b, Shang & Li 1990, Wen 1993, 2002, 2011, Wen et al. 2002, Xiang & Lowry 2007). The broad sense of Aralia is supported by recent studies on the basis of morphological characters and molecular evidence (Wen 1993, Wen et al. 2001, 2002), and therefore some segregated genera, Coudenbergia Marchal (1879: 514), Pentapanax Seemmann (1864: 290, 294), Hunaniopanax Qi et Cao (1988: 47), Neoacanthophora Bennet (1979: 283), Sciadodendron Grisebach (1858: 7), Parapentapax Hutchinson (1967: 56) and Megalopanax E. Ekman ex Harms (1924:122), are reduced to the synonymies of Aralia (Wen 1993. Wen et al. 2002). Wen (2011) divided the genus into six sections: sect. Aralia, sect. Dimorphanthus (Miquel 1840: 95) Miquel (1863: 6), sect. Humiles Harms (1896: 13), sect. Nanae Harms (1896: 12), sect. Pentapanax (Semm.) Wen (2002: 31) and sect. Sciadodendron (Griseb.) Moreover, he erected a subfamily-level clade Ingeniinae Barsbold, 1981 to distinguish Ingenia yanshini from other oviraptorids such as Oviraptor philoceratops Osborn, 1924 (Barsbold, 1981). When Barsbold first erected the subfamily, he considered this subfamily as monotypic (Barsbold, 1981) but now this subfamily comprisesmultiple taxa such as Machairasaurus leptonychus Longrich, Currie, and Dong, 2010 and Heyuannia huangi Lü, 2002.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Intraurban Near-Water Areas and Their Role in Distribution of Ticks (Acari, Ixodidae) in Megapolis the Example of Kyiv In 2002-2009, we studied 12 islands within the city of Kyiv, and found four indigenous species of ticks (Dermacentor reticulatus Fabricius, 1794; Ixodes ricinus Linnaeus, 1758; I. apronophorus Schulze, 1924; Rhipicephalus rossicus Jakimov et Kohl-Jakimova, 1911) and one invasive species (Hyalomma marginatum Koch, 1844). For A-E-gradient, established by man's impact degree, we revealed atypical distribution of species: their majority is noted in two pole areas - where the man impact is maximum and minimum. The investigated near-water areas are a kind of survival areas and sources of ixodides diversity in megalopolis.

Abstract:
Three new species of Scissurellidae from Australia are described: Incisura auriformis n. sp., Scissurella quadrata n. sp., and Sci. spinosa n. sp. They are compared to other species occurring in Australian waters: I. remota (Iredale, 1924) [+ I. vincentiana (Cotton, 1959)], I. rosea (Hedley, 1904), Sci. cyprina Cotton & Godfrey, 1938, Sci. declinans Watson, 1886, Sci. evaensis Bandel, 1998 [+ Maxwellella unispirata Bandel, 1998], Sinezona plicata (Hedley, 1899), Sukashitrochus atkinsoni (Tenison-Woods, 1877), Suk. indonesicus Bandel, 1988 [+ Suk. simplex Bandel, 1998], Suk. pulcher (Petterd, 1884), and Trogloconcha tesselata Kase & Kano, 2002. As under-appreciation of intraspecific variability has resulted in the introduction of synonyms, multiple specimens are illustrated here, along with radulae and distributional maps.

A type species is designated for Phalacrinus Blackburn 1891 (P. australis Blackburn 1891). Six new species-group synonymies are established: Acylomus ergoti Casey 1890 (=Tinodemus grouvellei Guillebeau 1894, syn. nov.), Acylomus curvolineatus (Champion 1924) (=Tinodemus meridianus (Švec 1992), syn. nov.; Olibrus stuporatus Lyubarsky 1994, syn. nov.), Xanthocomus attenuatus (Casey, 1890) (=Xanthocomus concinnus (Casey, 1916), syn. nov.; Stilbus thoracicus Casey, 1916, syn. nov.; Stilbus quadrisetosus Casey, 1916, syn. nov.). One name, Olibrus sternalis Casey 1916, is resurrected from synonymy. Lectotypes are designated for 23 nominal species. One genus and two species are excluded from Phalacridae: Sternosternus Guillebeau 1894 (with its type and only species, S. grouvelleiGuillebeau 1894) and Parasemus parvopallidus Lea 1932, both of which belong in Hydrophilidae. All 34 resulting genera in the family Phalacridae are keyed, described, and illustrated. A phylogenetic hypothesis based on analysis of a matrix of 98 morphological characters was created using parsimony. Results of these analyses were not robust enough at deep levels to create a new subfamilial or tribal classification, but nine genus-groups have been hypothesized.

Abstract:
