Abstract:
Purpose The massive growth in the number of book titles has made publishers think about how to attract a customer’s attention to particular books. This is the reason why the book cover plays an important role as a tool of communication with the reader. The research question of this exploratory study is whether the preference given by readers to book cover colors is different across genders and age groups when they choose the book in an online bookstore by its cover. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach The experiment in a bookstore and a library was done. Each respondent was asked to choose one book from our sample of 18 books and a mobile eye tracking laboratory was set up in order to find out the respondents’ basic gazing data. After conducting an experiment with bookstore and library visitors, the results showed that younger women tend to select a book by its cover (when the time for selection is not limited) statistically significantly faster than men of the same age group. The difference disappears with age. Findings The data of the experiment suggested that women from the age group 18-35 prefer books with cool color covers and the preference disappears with age; accordingly, men in the age group 56+ prefer books with warm color covers. The preference was not seen in younger age groups. The analysis of data on the number of choices for each cover and the time spent looking at each of them revealed a significant positive correlation between the women’s preferences in selecting covers and the time women spend looking at them; however, there was no such correlation in the case of men’s data. Originality/value The study has shown that the reader’s book choice is at least partly influenced by the cover color. The preference given to cool and warm colors and the speed of decision making show certain differences across genders and age groups. The result contributes to knowing how to create book covers more adopted to reader’s needs.

Abstract:
This brief article deals with the use of Indonesian words referring to colors for creating metaphorical expressions. All data presented are collected from various sources, such as Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian Standard Dictionary), and added with data obtained from Oxford Advanced Leaner’s Dictionary, Indonesian proverb book, encyclopedia, terminology collection book, poetry anthology, song lyrics, and data of the author’s own creation as an Indonesian native speaker. Set aside from their literal meanings, the metaphorically used color words are collected and classified into two categories, i.e. achromatic and chromatic colors. Then, their universalities are determined by comparing them with English color metaphors. Finally the existence of specific Indonesian color metaphors are identified by correlating them with extra linguistic factors, such as environment, history, religion, politic and other socio cultural activities. A careful analysis on the data shows that there is nearly no significant difference in metaphorical uses of achromatic colors in English and Indonesian. However, despite universal nuances of chromatic color metaphors, some specific ones emerge due to various external factors, such as environment, education, history, politic, law, religion, literature, and other socio cultural facts that are specifically found and practiced in Indonesia.

Abstract:
The correlation between the description of 40 undergraduate women's favorite colors and their self-description was investigated. Subjects rated adjectives as these applied to their favorite colors, which were selected from the Munsell Book of Color, and then rated the same adjectives as applied to themselves. Analysis indicated that adjective ratings for self-descriptions and favorite colors were significantly correlated at .34, which, however, accounts for but a small proportion of common variance.

Abstract:
The original AO HRR color vision test has been considered by many as one of the best plate tests. It is still accepted by many governmental agencies for color vision certification. In their 1954 publication, Hardy, Rand, and Rittler stated that specially compounded inks were used for printing to avoid color changes with time. Fifty years later, it is both important and interesting to determine whether the wear and tear cause significant color changes. The chance finding of a never-used second edition offers an opportunity to evaluate the color changes. A GretagMacbeth Spectrolino spectrophotometer was used to measure the chromaticities of the never-used book, and an extensively used book. Four plates (#4, 7, 13, 16), selected randomly from the four red-green sections, were analyzed. The colored dots from each of the eight plates were plotted on a CIE chromaticity diagram. Isocolor lines were drawn to evaluate chromatic alignment. Chromaticities for plates #4 and 7 are significantly different between the two books. With regard to alignment with isocolor lines, the extensively used book is better than the never-used book for plate #4. There is significant misalignment on plate #7 for both books. Chromaticities for plates #13 and 16 are essentially identical between books, all with good alignment with isocolor lines. The overall comparison shows that the chromatic alignment characteristics of the extensively used book are not worse than the never-used book. Since colors in these plates have to be aligned with both the protan and deutan axes, any significant color changes would have disturbed this delicate requirement. The findings of many plates with good alignment, and the lack of differences on plates #13 and 16 between books, suggest that there are no significant color changes over time. Differences between books on plates #4 and 7 were likely the result of the original printing process.

Abstract:
In medieval India, colors for drawing were obtained from a variety of substances such as minerals, compounds or natural salts. Some colors were derived from natural materials such as plant biomass. For example, neem and wormwood etc. were used in large scale not only in pictures but also in writing. Similarly, because of red ink written in silver and gold, Swanakshari Shetakshari was named. Red ink was used to draw margins at the end of the prominence, in the lines, in the instruments, etc. Books written with gold and silver powder were more expendable and they had more sense of grandeur. It was also relatively difficult to write the letters of silver and gold and in reading it there was a lot of emphasis on the eyes. Most of the mineral colors have been used in the West Indian painting style. These were finely powdered and brought into color. The natural state of the dyes was impure, so it was purified by dissolving it in water. Heavy impurities used to sit at the bottom and the top water was drained and separated. This process was repeated many times and color refinement was used to dry it and used it for illustration. This action was called color washing.

This is a study of perception of negative afterimages. Surface color samples were viewed under Spectralight. Subjects fixated on 11 Munsell hues mounted on white cards and matched their afterimages with chips from the Munsell Book of Color. Samples were drawn from 125 participants in two groups, one practiced, the other unfamiliar with afterimage. No single afterimage or Munsell color chip was reported for any of the stimulus hues. However, most afterimage responses for nine stimulus colors fell within one Munsell hue family. Afterimages reported for the remaining two stimulus colors of purple-blue and yellow-red span two adjacent hue families. Results suggest new alternatives to traditional subtractive color complements. New afterimage opposites are provided.

Abstract:
Yogyakarta city library applied an open access service system, in which the library users were given access to independently find and take the books in collection shelves. Those users were also asked to return the finished books to the returning books medium in the form of trolleys. Later these books in the trolleys would be returned by the librarians scheduled for shelving duty. Observation result showed that there are a lot of unreturned books because the trolleys of the returning mediums are too full. Librarian also faced many difficulties in classifying the book stacks before returned to the collection shelves because of their messy state. According to the design study and development employing front- end process method, process (Karl & Steven, 2008), this problem could be solved by developing design concept for books returning mediums in the form of shelves contained colors and book codes information according to the standard of Yogyakarta city library. The result design prototype trial showed the increasing library users’ interest to return the finished books to the returning books medium according to the color and code information. It would greatly help the librarians in classifying the books before the re-organizing in the collection shelves. Design development of the returning books medium would also open the opportunity to optimize the temporary flow of returning books which would be easily found by the other library users before the shelving schedule. Keywords: library, open access, book shelf, librarian, library user

Abstract:
Rango has its own unique world. 'Rang' gives meaning to words, objects and reflects them. Only through colors, the properties and expressions of words, words can be easily understood. The color itself holds many meanings. In the absence of colors, the painting ceases to exist. Color is an important means of expressing emotions. It is necessary to take special care of stone characters in sculpture as well. The religious area also could not remain untouched by the symbolism of colors. Philosophical sentiments are also expressed in Jainism through the symbolism of Rango. Color is a unique pool of many emotions. Five colors have predominated in Jainism. White, red, yellow, blue or green, black. These three main colors are also red, blue and yellow. Different colors are formed by different proportional mixtures of these. These colors also have a prominent place in the fields of happiness, prosperity and medicine. In the picture book of Vishnu Dharmottara Purana, there are five main colors of white, red, yellow, blue and black. The importance of these five colors is in the character of Panchaparmeshthi varna, Tirthankar varna, hetleshya and flag. These five colors have contributed significantly to our internal and external development.

Abstract:
This study explores if peripheral colored ambient light or colored light can be noticed and semantically associated with text while reading a novel from an Electronic Visual Display (EVD). Additionally, it is investigated if those colored signs are perceived as supplementary to the story and result in a more immersive experience. For that purpose, a user evaluation study was performed based on attention theory (selective attention, semantic priming, and divided attention), reading behavior, and semantics of colors. Participants received a reading assignment. While reading a novel from an e-book, dynamic colored ambient light or colored light was emitted. Throughout the reading assignment, the colors were adapted to the particular scenes the participant was reading. Findings suggest that attention can be divided between reading the novel from an EVD and the ambient color signs.

Abstract:
Picture books which were implemented through Wanga Gag’s Millions of Cats have been proven to be an excellent resource because images opposed to words have a leading role. This resource also becomes a perfect ally for digital natives who are appealed to images and with the use of ICT tools turns it into a more appealing and engaging experience. The picture book titled Press Here by Herve Tullet has been used to work the 4Cs of CLIL (Content, Culture, Communication and Cognition) through non-linguistic subjects (Art, Math and Music). Cuadernia due to its flexibility and easiness it is the most suitable ICT tool to introduce a picture book through CLIL methodology at early stages. Different tasks to work Art like the result of mixing primary colors or a video to consolidate the shape of a circle help students to activate their prior knowledge in a visual way. Math was also introduced through Cuadernia with the aim to learn counting until 5 through bottle caps and associated to colors. Lastly, Music together with the shape of the circles was displayed showing finger paint. For all the previously stated ideas, it is highly recommended to use a software like Cuadernia to work any picture book through bilingual methodology because it will broaden students’ knowledge and allow them to practice in a more dynamic and attractive environment.

Abstract:
Written manuscripts and literary treatises are among the most important documents of knowledge on traditional color production techniques related to painting, and as they have survived thanks to desirable maintenance and preservation from the ancient times to the present time, they can be good sources for identifying and extracting traditional color production methods related to paining. Especially, the illustrated books simultaneously with their writing are an evidence of the contents presented in those manuscripts and treatises. Therefore, by an aim to identify and revive traditional color production techniques, the present descriptive-analytic research examines some of the available handwritten manuscripts and literary treatises. Then, with emphasis placed on the knowledge acquired and the modern facilities, some of the colors are made. The present study was performed by raising the major question that what ancient literary books are the sources of production colors used in Persian painting, and what were the nature of color production techniques and traditional color characteristics in the past. Thus, the study population includes Golestan Honar, Qanun al-Sovar, Majmoueh al-Sanaye’ and 14 other treatises relevant to this issue, and the data collection was performed in a library- and experimental-based manner. The result of this study was the extraction, preparation and remaking of seven main mineral colors in Persian painting.

Abstract:
The Chinese words on colors do not only indicate types of colors, but also implicit the elucidating socio-cultural context. Colors in the Chinese language represent good and bad terms. For example, the makeup color of the Chinese opera show assigns the character wearing red makeup as a symbol of loyalty, justice, power, wealth, or high rank. Red contains most of the excellent and positive definition. On the other hand, the character wearing white means a person who is dangerous, cunning, and dishonest. These are some examples of how Chinese people use colors to represent meaning. Moreover, Chinese vocabularies are also communicated through alphabets and created to new words that hide beliefs and culture of the use of color as well. This research aims to study the “Implicit Meaning of Chinese Vocabulary on Colors in Five Elements Elucidating Socio-cultural Context.” China is a fascinating country in culture and language. Besides, Chinese is a language used by many people as the top three in the world. This research studies 5 Chinese color words, which are red, black, white, green, and yellow. The methodology is to analyze words through the example vocabularies by describing and collecting from books, journals, and articles. For an instant, Red in Chinese culture is the color of fortune. Therefore, red words are used to create new words that relate to prosperity, such as 开门红(kāi mén hóng)means opening to welcome good things or 红红火火(hóng hóng huǒ huǒ)which is a wish for prosperity and, often used for business. As a result, it can be seen that the study of Chinese color terms is not only about colors, but these words also link to beliefs and cultures over time until many new words are created. It is the use of color words mixed into new vocabulary to reflect the ideas, beliefs, and cultures. We can study Chinese culture through color vocabulary very well.

Abstract:
Color is all around but it is not everywhere treated in the same way. The terms people use to describe colors give another means of exploring the relationship between different languages and cultures. One field we can see the manifestation of this relationship is translation because we sometimes cannot directly translate color words from one language to another without introducing subtle changes in meaning, or the perception of the same colors in different languages may be different due to different cultures (Wardhaugh, 2006). This study aims at investigating the contrastive comparison of color lexicons- in terms of number and variety as well as their perception- in Persian and English and its effect on translation; moreover, by utilizing this cross-cultural study of color perception, want to investigate whether or not this research is in harmony with previous research –specifically the Weak Version of Linguistic Relativity Hypothesis advocating that language influences perception. The findings of this study are the result of a long process of investigating many English and Persian dictionaries, art and graphic books, personal interviews with artists, and some tasks for translators and even native speakers of both languages. After finding the specific types and lexicons of colors, we found some colors with no equivalent in the other language. Therefore, those color terms were the stimulus for our tasks. We provided some tasks and asked 50 English-Persian translators who were Persian native speakers and 50 English native speakers (Because of the limitation of access to English-Persian translators who are also English native speakers) for their perception of those colors in order to find out how perception of the colors with no equivalent in the native language would affect the translation. Results revealed that 98% of translators had difficulty perceiving and translating the two different color lexicons for which Persian had no equivalent, and 99% of translators had difficulty translating 15 different color lexicons, which were chosen among 32 color lexicons of Persian with no English equivalent. Similarly, 97% of English native speakers had difficulty perceiving the translated Persian color lexicons to English, for which they had no certain equivalent. Having compared the results of data collection in Persian and English, the researchers found that there are statistically significant similarities and differences between Persian and English color terms. Comparing the results revealed that the two languages are similar in the number of basic colors; however, color types are more various in Persian while there are more terms for one single color in English; therefore, the marked similarity of color grouping in Persian and English suggests some evidence that color grouping is universal and is inconsistent with the Linguistic Relativity Hypothesis. However, part of the results, which shows differences in the perception of colors in two languages, is consistent with the Weak Version of Linguistic Relativity Hypothesis. Consequently, as an implication of the study in EFL/ESL and translation, the study provides some evidence which could be a source in translation of color terms in Persian and English.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this study is to examine if consumers have substantially common color preferences in hospitality uniforms for destination brands. Employee uniforms with their dimensions of style, material and color are a crucial part of the coordinated brand message of a business or a destination; however, this has been a void in tourism and hospitality literature. Current visitors to Hong Kong were studied using intercept surveys in four different groups controlling for potential confounding factors. Although results reveal the common perception and preference for black-white-formal uniforms for Hong Kong’s hospitality industry across different treatment groups as well as different cultural groups, implications and discussions are provided as a call for further research in this venue of inquiry. Design/methodology/approach – This is a cross-sectional study using a site intercept survey with structured questionnaires on Chinese and international travelers in Hong Kong. Four different surveys were used as different treatments for four groups of respondents that were randomly assigned into each group. Each group was presented with a different default pair of male and female uniform pictures for the initial evaluation on the first page of the survey, followed by a list of uniforms with different colors and styles on the second page of the survey to select and evaluate their own pairs of male and female uniforms. Findings – Results revealed that consumers’ general favorite colors may not apply to their preferences for the employee uniforms for a destination they visit. Also, there were similarities in the favorite color and choice uniform color for the three general culture groups, such as Chinese, Asia-Pacific and Western consumers, included in the study. Besides, findings implied that Hong Kong may be a strong brand with a uniform color preference for hospitality uniforms for different consumer segments. Research limitations/implications – This study needs to be considered as an exploratory attempt to bring researchers’ attention to the several questions still to be answered by future research. The results and discussions provided in this study are beyond being robust or conclusive; insights about potential brand connotations with employee uniform colors need to be taken as potential leads for future studies because there is a need for further study in this area. Practical implications – The importance of hotel employee uniforms for quality hotel experience was the highest for the Chinese group, whereas it was the lowest for the Western group. Chinese and Asia-Pacific respondents placed more importance on uniforms as a cue for a quality hotel experience, which signal a higher level of involvement in visible cues in the consumption environment. Hence, hotels as well as destinations catering to these groups need to take their market segment preferences into consideration before making decisions about brand cues for their products. Originality/value – There is a lack of attention to the color aspect of service encounter in tourism and hospitality literature. Therefore, color needs attention from researchers as a new venue of research in tourism and hospitality, especially in the tourism destination context. This study is a spearhead to generate interest by intriguing questions for future attention from researchers.

Abstract:
The use of color photographs in crayfish species descriptions, state faunal books and popular articles is relatively recent. Except for verbal color descriptions, color and color patterns have not often been explored by crayfish researchers. Carotenoids and carotenoproteins are responsible for much of the color found in the integument and exoskeleton of crayfishes and other crustaceans. Research has shown variation in color may be the result of the environment, diet, molt stage and age, genetics, or a combination of these. Crayfishes possess color vision, may use polarization vision, and have the possibility of fluorescent vision. They also have very good low light vision. Crayfishes have a multichromatic range in color sensitivity; it ranges from blue to red, with no UV sensitivity. Color vision may be an important factor in intraspecific and interspecific competition, territoriality, camouflage, sexual selection, and communication. A distinction is made between base or background colors displayed in crayfishes and their exhibited color patterns. While actual base or background colors may vary among individual crayfishes, a case is made that color patterns show much less intraspecific variation. Distinct color patterns are the result of highly contrasting colors on appendages or parts of appendages such as chelae, leg joints, tail fan, spines, and tubercles. Body regions like the carapace and abdomen may also have contrasting spots, bands or stripes. Color patterns may be useful in better understanding crayfish taxonomy, phylogeny, and evolutionary convergence, and examples are provided.

The article is devoted to the understudied problem of the creation of impressionist and new- impressionist manner in the book poetics The Little Camels of the Sky by Elena Guro. It is stated that the book structure peculiarity lies in the mosaic juxtaposition of the text fragments contrasting in themes and genres. The analogy with the impressionist technique of separate contrasting strokes is seen at the motive and imaginative book layers. The associative principle of text building peculiar to Elena Guro is compared to the visual colors mixture effect created by the impressionists.

The command to iqra in Qur'an as the first revelation is a concept of command to read. In this context, the word iqra (read) means an activity to get to know, comprehend, analyze, observe, and learn all things in life. It could also be specifically interpreted as reading books. The book here is not limited to Qur'an, but each and every beneficial thing. Children are blank slates of human that must be introduced to books and reading. However, it is obvious that there is a difference in teaching reading to early childhood and to adults. Reading is an enjoyment for children, full of pictures and colors, laughter and happiness. The essence of children is to be engaged in new things. So, reading is a way to introduce numerous new things to early childhood.

Abstract:
The development of the world of art and design is one of the major contributors to the emergence of the dynamics of the existing arts. The existence of the development of artistic discourse is not infrequently archived in the form of a book. Biography book is one type of book that contains a record of stories or information about a person's life journey that is arranged systematically. The book as a unit is composed of several constituent elements, one of which is the cover or cover. The unit that compiles the design of a book cover, ideally consists of several elements. Some of them are illustrations, in the form of pictures or photographs and writing (typography). The theory used in this research is Edmund Burke Feldman's fist theory of art. This theory, provides the study of art in several aspects. Such as formalistic, instrumental and expressive aspects. Specifically, this study will discuss all elements of form in a formalistic review. Selection of focus on the formalistic aspect refers to the linkage of formalistic elements with design studies. Another context, in Feldman's study, it refers more to the elements of sociology of art and the things that surround it. The conclusion of this study, is that the cover design of Wayan Pengsong's book has various complex perspectives and is interconnected between the design and the design and style of Pengsong's work that he produces. The use of color and photo illustrations used refers to the philosophical melancholy, calm and the almighty. This color is also one of the many colors used by Pengsong in his paintings. The use of Wayan Pengsong and Wayan Gede's portrait illustrations is a symbol of a unity between Wayan Pengsong and his artistic blood heritage.

Visually impaired children have the right to proper education facilities. Nevertheless, in Indonesia, the educational media for visually impaired children are still minimal. Children who are just learning to read the braille have difficulty reading braille texts because the system is quite complex, and the media is still conventional. The tactile picture book is a picture book that is read by touch. Children can understand images in a tactile picture book, particularly in terms of illustrations, layouts, colors, and themes adapted to Indonesian children's culture. Tactile picture books can be a medium for introducing braille letters to children in a more effective and fun way as well as media to understand the concepts and environment around them.[Menurut sensus Kementrian Sosial pada tahun 2012, sebanyak 338.672 penduduk Indonesia adalah tunanetra kategori low vision hingga totally blind, dari jumlah tersebut 11.995 diantaranya adalah anak-anak. Abstract:
The article examines the artistic experience during the period of 1980–2000. Oleh Harahonych’s individual painting style was formed at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s under the influence of a large-scale talent of the famous Ukrainian painter Yosyp Bokshay (1891–1975). O. Harahonych visited Bokshay’s Uzhhorod workshop several years in a row. Having escaped the system-defined academic education, the post-impressionist-to-be was experimenting with the new formal means of reproduction. Being primarily a landscapist, the painter began to develop new dynamic angles of the composition, involving the fragments of a high-altitude highway in presentation of his works, which ensured that his landscapes obtained a sense of modernity. Winding Carpathian roads suggested to the artist a zigzag structure of the composition, which was based on the principles of polar dynamics. In O. Harahonych’s landscapes of the mid‑1980s, the contrast of warm and cold color gradations and intensity of colors enhanced. The dominance of pure colors harmoniously combined with simple shapes that focused on an acute triangle. The renewed lyrical sense of the landscape was reproduced by the simplest artistic means which included decorative ornaments, logic of compositional accents, and clarity of silhouettes. It was realized in a series of plein‑air images of the 2000s. In search of new visual means, Oleh Harahonych’s imagination was ahead of the visual technologies of easel painting of that time. Developed in the 1980s, the author’s style visually resembles the digital presentations in Photoshop. The author’s synthesis of color and form reveals an integral connection between post-impressionism and design, which Roger Fry called “Vision and design” in his book a century ago.

Made of recycled clothes, slaughtered animals, and felled trees, Bibles in Renaissance England were filled with visible traces of ecological matter, remainders that remind one that words on a page are thought fused with—and inflected by—matter. This essay places Henry Vaughan's poem “The Book” in a broader conversation about the poetics of paper: the rhetorical effects of the varied colors and qualities of paper used in the production of the vernacular Bibles that transformed reading practices in Renaissance England. Historical writers and readers, who were directly involved in a flax-to-rags-to-paper economy, recognized and commented on the natural resources from which cheap, widely distributed Bibles and other texts were made. Further, this essay models a reading strategy that attends to the natural history of books, to both the function and the form of the organic matter used to mediate human ideas.

Moral learning can be taught through stories, which act as orientations and role models to stimulate understanding which then becomes the habituation and personal character of the child. In this study project moral learning is presented in stories in the form of comic books, with Cindelaras's story as example. The comic book creation process goes through several stages of the creative process namely the pre-production process, the production process and the post-production process. The main work produced was a dummy form from a comic book titled "Cindelaras: A Boy with Rooster" and several merchandise works as supporters such as bookmarks, key chains, art prints and stickers. All the sequences pages of this comic are visual illustrations that tell the story of Cindelaras' journey in fighting for justice. In this comic also illustrated how Cindelaras behaves to parents, people who need even those who are evil to him. This comic has the main message that every good or bad deed will return to the culprit. This work is analyzed from the technical aspects, aesthetic aspects and illustrative aspects. Technically, the entire work is done in digital format and techniques with Adobe Photoshop CS5 applications, while viewed from an aesthetic aspect, it highlights visual elements that are depicted such as colors, lines, drawing styles, and so on. The illustrative aspect explains how illustrations play an important role in communicating stories in this comic book. Through this comic book illustration creation it is hoped that it can add to children's reading recommendations as a medium of moral learning as well as a means of promotion to introduce native Indonesian folklore.

The arrangement of books in a library is one of the activities that must be carried out by a librarian. This is intended to ease library visitors looking for books they need. In this study, researchers provide a new method in organizing those books by applying vertex coloring in graph. This study aims to describe the application of vertex coloring in graph for arranging the books in MTs Al-Hikmah Janti’s library and for identifying the order of books that have been arranged using vertex coloring in graph. This study is a descriptive qualitative study involving documentation method and the object is book arrangement in the library of MTs Al-Hikmah Janti. The main instrument in this study is the researcher himself. Meanwhile, the supporting instruments in this study are the documentation guidelines. The data analysis that researchers employ is making color symbols for each book title, making graphs whose points have been colored according to the agreed color symbols, arranging the books based on the graph that has previously been designed. The way to apply vertex coloring in graph to arrange the books in the library of MTs Al-Hikmah is by making a color symbol to each book title, making a graph starting from rack 1 to rack 4 so that the different color can be assigned to the interconnected points (according to the color symbol which have been made from each lesson). The number of points in the graph is associated to the number of books on each shelf.

Color blindness test is one way to find out whether a person has color blindness or not, is usually done with the Ishihara method. This Ishihara method is a method where when running a test with this method, the patient is usually faced with a book containing a circle pattern (disk) with many points of various colors and sizes in it. The circle pattern is usually 14, 24 and 38 dishes. Tests like this are usually done in health agencies, one of which is the Cahaya Insani Clinic in Garut, West Java. The process of implementing a color-blind test is still done manually where people who want to do a color-blind test must come directly to the clinic, making people who did color-blind tests had to be willing to wait a long time to be able to do a color-blind test. In addition to these problems, the lack of knowledge and understanding of the community regarding color blindness, makes people less aware of the importance of color-blinding tests early on. Therefore, a media is needed that can do color blindness tests quickly and easily, coupled with information about color blindness that can provide insight to the community. Mobile based application Android is one of the right media to make it easy for people to obtain information. Starting from this, then made an Android-based color blindness test application to make it easier for people to do color blindness tests anytime and anywhere, and can used as a medium of information about color blindness.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This article is a response to Tsuyoshi Hasegawa’s review of Nikolaev’s 2005 book, Revolution and Power: The IV State Duma, 27 February – 3 March 1917. It recounts the history of Nikolaev’s acquaintance with Hasegawa and underscores the importance of Hasegawa’s contributions to the understanding of the February Revolution. The response critically assesses Hasegawa’s interpretation of the February 1917 Revolution, especially his treatment of the role of Duma liberals and his emphasis on mass politics, but only in so far as the interpretation colors Hasegawa’s review of Nikolaev’s book. Nikolaev’s response adds new details to the history of the February Revolution, by showing how, on the evening of 27 February, the 1st Infantry Reserve Regiment joined the revolution. Nikolaev emphasizes that his main ambition is to persuade historians to take a new look at the role of the Duma liberals in February 1917.

Abstract:
The important task of library book inventory, or shelf-reading, requires humans to remove each book from a library shelf, open the front cover, scan a barcode, and reshelve the book. It is a labor-intensive and often error-prone process. Technologies such as 2D barcode scanning or radio frequency identification (RFID) tags have recently been proposed to improve this process. They both incur significant upfront costs and require a large investment of time to fit books with special tags before the system can be productive. A vision-based automation system is proposed to improve this process without those prohibitively high upfront costs. This low-cost shelf-reading system uses a hand-held imaging device such as a smartphone to capture book spine images and a server that processes feature descriptors in these images for book identification. Existing color feature descriptors for feature matching typically use grayscale feature detectors, which omit important color edges. Also, photometric-invariant color feature descriptors require unnecessary computations to provide color descriptor information. This paper presents the development of a simple color enhancement feature descriptor called Color Difference-of-Gaussians SIFT (CDSIFT). CDSIFT is well suited for library inventory process automation, and this paper introduces such a system for this unique application.
