The benzodiazepines have replaced widespread use of barbiturates and other sedatives. They are effective, safe medicines used to treat a variety of disorders associated with excessive CNS excitability. Although many physicians avoid prescribing benzodiazepines to adolescents, there is little evidence to support this practice. Unless an adolescent has a history of substance abuse/dependence and suicidal ideation, the benzodiazepines are safe. Abstract:

Objetivos: Presentar el caso clínico de un varón de 44 años que ingresa en la Unidad de Agudos de Psiquiatría por un cuadro delirante de parasitosis. Vive en situación de calle. Es fumador de tabaco de 2 paquetes/día, bebedor de 3 cervezas/día. Reconoce consumo habitual de anfetaminas y ocasional de cocaína. Como antecedentes medico-quirúrgicos presenta diagnóstico previo de obesidad mórbida que se trató con bypass gástrico, y cirrosis y esteatosis hepática con hipertensión portal. El término chemsex surge de la fusión de chems (chemicals, drogas) y sex (sexo). Se trata de una práctica sexual asociada al consumo de tóxicos, especialmente frecuente en la cultura sexual gay.
