Bära Bort Bord är ett nedslag i en sådan förändringsprocess. Studien bygger på intervjuer med sju Sandvikanställda som i uppdrag av företaget på halvtid går en treårig organisationskonsultutbildning för stiftelsen Gestalt Akademin. Utbildningen är en del av en så kallad kulturförändring som man arbetar med att genomföra inom organisationen. Syftet med den här studien är att utifrån en diskursanalytisk förståelseram föra en diskussion kring hur dessa sju individers tankar och erfarenheter av att arbeta med kulturförändringarna kan relateras till en vidare social och kulturell förändringsprocess. Studien visar bland annat hur talet om kulturförändringarna synliggör en uppluckring av de gränser som karakteriserade den moderna industrin mellan chefen/operatören, arbete/fritid och tjänstemanna-/arbetarkollektiv samt en tilltagande individualisering och tydligare ansvarsöverföring på den enskilda individen.

In this study – Just a girlfriend who lives far away? – I interview fifteen girls about their experiences with computer mediated relationships. From a queer theoretical perspective I examine how these girls do and talk about their relationships, in relation to norms about relationships and sexuality as well as notions about online and offline. My aim is to discuss in which ways the performing of these relationships both reproduce and challenge norms about relationships and sexuality. The girls I interview attempt in different ways to show that doing relationships online is just as ”normal” as doing them offline. While normative assumptions about components such as monogamy and love as being vital to a relationship often are reproduced in the performing of these relationships, I assert that the ways in which these relationships are done hold a subversive potential to challenge normative understandings of concepts such as relationship, sexuality, sex, physicality and closeness.

Ce memoire, apporte une contribution a l'etude de la reactivite des composes organiques a liaison bore-azote et bore-soufre. Dans la premiere partie, nous avons montre que la stchiometrie de la reduction des amides carboxyliques secondaires et tertiaires par le borane dependait de la temperature. Au-dela d'une certaine temperature (environ 110c), les sels de lewis formes lors de ces reductions se dissocient et participent a la reaction de reduction. Dans la deuxieme partie, nous avons synthetise plusieurs thiols et thioethers optiquement actifs a partir de produits commerciaux: ()-menthol, (+)-camphre et ()-borneol. Ces composes ont permis d'acceder a plusieurs reactifs a liaison bore-soufre optiquement actifs. Ces reactifs ont ete testes dans la reduction de l'acetophenone. Les resultats concernant l'induction asymetrique sont faibles, mais cette etude met en evidence le role interessant joue par la liaison b-s dans des reactions de reduction des cetones. Les thioborinates et les thioboronates sont des reducteurs beaucoup plus puissants que le borane lui-meme. Cette augmentation de la reactivite est due a un phenomene de catalyse. Dans la derniere partie de ce travail, nous avons mis au point la synthese de derives soufres bifonctionnels, puis, nous les avons utilises pour acceder a divers heterocycles a liaison b-s: oxathiaborolanes, oxathiaboranes et dithiaborepanes, analogues aux oxazaborolidines. Ces heterocycles catalysent la reduction de l'acetophenone par le borane. Le dithiaborepane est le plus performant puisqu'a une concentration de 2,5% seulement, il apporte une forte acceleration de la vitesse de reduction et conduit a un alcool ayant une purete optique de 50%. Ces resultats, bien qu'insuffisants, sont importants car ils montrent que les oxazaborolidines proposees par corey ne constituent pas un modele unique de catalyseur pour la reduction asymetrique de cetones prochirales

Le travail presente dans ce memoire concerne l'etude de la reactivite d'insaturations contenant ou portant un atome de bore. Dans la premiere partie nous avons montre que les iminoboranes sont de mauvais dienophiles. Une rationalisation des resultats experimentaux utilisant la methode mndo a ete tentee. Nous avons montre que leurs precurseurs sont leurs equivalents synthetiques. Une synthese efficace des tetrazaborolines a ainsi ete mise au point. Dans la deuxieme partie, la preparation de borates dieniques a ete effectuee. Ces composes reagissent quantitativement sur l'anhydride maleique et la n-phenylmaleimide selon le mode endo exclusivement. Ces cycloadduits, qui sont des allylboronates de stucture figee, reagissent avec les aldehydes de facon diastereospecifique. Ainsi la sequence diels-alder, homoaldolisation, permet le controle de la configuration relative de quatre carbones asymetriques

Aquetsa tesi descriu el treball realitzat amb reactius que contenen enllaços bor-sofre o bor-seleni. Aquest reactius s’han fet servir en reaccions de tioboració i selenoboració de substrats amb insaturacions conjugades a cetones o esters i en reaccions d’inserció amb grups diazo per a sintetitzar nous compostos organosulfurats i organoselenats. La tesi es divideix en quatre capítols. El primer d’ell és una breu introducció al compostos organosulfurats i organoselenats, parlant sobre les seves principals aplicacions i els mètodes per sintetitzar-los més representatius fins al moment. En aquest primer capítol també és parla de la síntesis dels reactius de bor-sofre i bor-seleni i les reaccions en les que s’han fet servir. El segon capítol parla de la reactivitat dels compostos de bor-sofre amb cetones i aldehids α,β-insaturats. S’ha observat que el propi grup carboxil és capaç d’activar el reactiu i fer entrar la unitat de sofre en la posició beta. El tercer capítol parla de la reacció amb triples enllaços conjugat a cetones i esters per sintetitzar vinil sulfats i vinil selenats. Aquesta mateixa reacció en presència d’una fosfina permet obtenir compostos anti-3,4-selenoborats que són precursors de compostos amb el grup seleni en la posició alfa. L’últim capítol parla sobre les reaccions d’inserció de compostos diazo en l’enllaç bor-sofre que permet obtenir molècules molt funcionalitzades amb grups Si, B, S i H que degut a les seves diferents propietats químiques poden continuar sent funcionalitzades per sintetizar una gran varitat de compostos orgànics.<br>Esta tesis describe el trabajo realizado con reactivos que contienen enlaces boro-azufre o boro-selenio. Estos reactivos se han usado en reacciones de tioboración y selenoboración de sustratos con insaturaciones conjugadas a cetonas o esteres y en reacciones de inserción con grupos diazo para sintetizar nuevos compuestos organosulfurados y organoselenados. These reagents have used in reactions of thioboration and selenoboration of substrates with unsaturation conjugated to ketones or esters and in reactions of insertion with diazo compounds to synthesize new organosulfides and organoselenides compounds. The thesis is divided in four chapters. The first is a brief introduction to the organosulfides and organoselenides compounds, reporting its main applications and its more representative methods of synthesis. The first chapter also reported the synthesis of the boron-sulphur and boron-selenium reagents and the reactions where they have been used. The second chapter is about the reactivity of the compounds of boron-sulphur with α,β-unsaturated ketones and aldehydes. It has observed that the carboxyl group is able to activate the B-S reagent and deliver the sulphur unit in the beta position. The third chapter shows the reactivity with triple bonds conjugated to ketones and esters to synthesise vinyl sulphates and vinyl selenates. The same reaction in presence of a phosphine allow to obtain anti-3,4-selenoborated compounds that they are precursors of compounds with the selenium moiety in the alpha position. The last chapter is about the insertion reactions of diazo compounds into the boron-sulphur bond that allow to obtain molecules very functionalized with groups Si, B, S and H than due to its different chemical behaviour can be further functionalized.

Les proprietes statiques et vibrationnelles du bore et du carbure de bore b 4c ont ete etudiees par theorie de la fonctionnelles de la densite (d. F. T. ) et theorie de perturbation de la fonctionnelle de la densite (d. F. P. T. ). Les proprietes de compressibilite de la structure icosaedrique sont etudiees en detail, et l'equation d'etat a temperature nulle theorique est determinee, pour la maille et pour l'icosaedre. Dans le bore , les proprietes de diffusion raman et d'absorption infrarouge experimentales et theoriques sont etudiees en fonction de la pression, et les coefficients de gruneisen en centre de zone de brillouin sont compares. Dans le carbure de bore, l'examen des spectres vibrationneles et theoriques conduit a la determination de la structure atomique de b 4c. Enfin, les effets du desordre isotopique ont ete modelises de facon ab initio, et leur effet sur les raies de diffusion raman examines. La methode a ete appliquee aux alliages binaires de diamant et de germanium.

This thesis investigates the argument structure of transitive particle constructions with the adverb bort, meaning ‘away’, ‘off’. On the basis of approximately 2000 authentic instances of the partially schematic structure [subject verb bort object], I have identified a number of constructions at different levels of abstraction. The overall aim of the thesis is to account for the argument structure of the bort-constructions and to provide an overview of the relation between verb meaning and constructional meaning. Based on the empirical investigation, the argument structure of these constructions seems most adequately accounted for by combining lexical and constructional factors. The investigation shows that the argument structure forms a lexical-constructional continuum: some constructions clearly have verb-specific meaning, whereas others have meaning more or less independently of the verb. In between we find constructions exhibiting various degrees of influence over the lexical properties of the verb. Verb meaning is analyzed within a causative semantic framework, and I assume an association between causation and argument structure. The bort-constructions form a causative continuum ranging from direct, physical to indirect, abstract causation. By analyzing the verbs’ semantics in relation to these different causative structures (semantic frames), I demonstrate that the causative continuum and the argument structure continuum are aligned: the more indirect the causation, the more constructionally dependent (less verb-specific) the argument structure.

Les propriétés statiques et vibrationnelles du bore alpha et du carbure de bore B4C ont été étudiées par Théorie de la Fonctionnelles de la Densité (D.F.T.) et Théorie de Perturbation de la Fonctionnelle de la Densité (D.F.P.T.).<br>Les propriétés de compressibilité de la structure icosaédrique sont étudiées en détail, et l'équation d'état à température nulle théorique est déterminée, pour la maille et pour l'icosaèdre.<br>Dans le bore alpha, les propriétés de diffusion Raman et d'absorption infrarouge expérimentales et théoriques sont étudiées en fonction de la pression, et les coefficients de Grüneisen en centre de zone de Brillouin sont comparés. <br>Dans le carbure de bore, l'examen des spectres vibrationnelles et théoriques conduit à la détermination de la structure atomique de B4C.<br>Enfin, les effets du désordre isotopique ont été modélisés de façon ab initio, et leur effet sur les raies de diffusion Raman examinés. <p>Anledningen till att detta arbete skrivs är för att vardagsbrottslighetens har en stor på-verkan på människors trygghets känsla i bostadsområdet. Vi har valt att studera två bostadsområden i Malmö, Bo01 samt Lindängen. Dessa två områden skiljer sig på så sätt att Bo01 är ett nybyggt område med bebyggelseplanering som brottspreventiv åt-gärd medan Lindängen är ett område byggt under miljonprogrammet och inget brotts-preventivt tänk har funnits i bilden vid byggandet av området. Uppsatsens huvudsyfte är att belysa den fysiska miljöns betydelse för brottsligheten i ett bostadsområde samt hur man kan hämma brott genom att bygga på ett brottsförebyggande sätt. Vi har gjort denna undersökning genom att studera gamla rapporter och utlåtanden från sakkunniga inom området och sammanställt våra slutsatser från dessa. Vi har även studerat brotts-statistik utifrån Bo01 och Lindängen och jämfört dessa mot varandra. Slutsatsen av undersökningen är att ett lokalt engagemang är helt nödvändigt om brott ska kunna bekämpas långsiktigt, att skapa trygghet och socialkontroll hos allmänheten. Brott kan förhindras på flera sätt. Detta gör man genom situationell prevention som bland annat behandlar hur man kan utforma bostadsområden och miljöer så att brottstillfällena minskar.</p>

I decided to start writing this thesis considering mainly all the books and texts read during my Art Academy education that made a strong impression on me in order to analyze the essence of my work. The reason to study at Konstfack is after all, to find a context and a reference to my art production. When I started collecting all the thoughts and ideas that been significant to me I BECAME AWARE of that every time I found the words describing them became PHYSICAL. Every word has a strength and tone. I confront a difficulty writing in English, learning theory in Swedish and having as a native language Spanish. So, with all respect to the interest and passion I have for languages, I would like to dedicate the fear of writing this thesis to the “information generation” for ABUSING the “language” making it richer but making it harder in my attempt to describe the essence of my work.

Born in Beirut is a thoughtful and poetic examination of war through the eyes of a child who lived through endless conflict in war-torn Beirut. The film examines the futility of war and the price paid in innocent lives.

Problem - A new kind of companies was identified twenty years ago, the BornGlobals (BGs).Those companies tend to go abroad in a very early stage, sometimesright after their inception. Although the Western literature has showed much progressin studying this phenomenon and developing many theories, its Chinese counterparthas not been developed in the same degree. Meanwhile, due to the limitation ofliterature translation and different process of knowledge accumulation, the emergenceof the Chinese BGs raises many questions about its reasons, drive factors andformation mechanism. Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to explore the new phenomenon of BGs inChinese firms, increase a better understanding of relevant theories, and investigate thekey factors of Chinese BGs' emergence. Design - The paper draws on previous studies on Western perspective of BGs. Inorder to be less influenced by Western theories, an inductive approach is used formultiple case study of two Chinese companies. Semi structured interviews wereconducted with the representative from each company through telephone and CMCinterviews. Findings - The main reason of Chinese BGs internationalize very early is to becomedeveloped and strong, so that they can re-enter their domestic market. Their truevision is to go abroad and begin to operate in a less hostile environment than the onein China. Education, prior knowledge, technology and networks were found to be ofsimilar great importance as in the western literature. On the other hand, their growth isalso facilitated by the low costs that exist in China. In the global market, they haveaccess to materials and human resources to allow them to have a competitiveadvantage. At the end, the model representing our findings is developed. Practical implications - This study provides the information on how the founders ofBGs think and act, and which traits characterize them and give a better view on whythese firms became BGs and how they will continue their expansion. As well as, helpmanagers to understand how Chinese BGs will proceed and let them be able to actproactively. Originality/value - The findings of study may develop the BG literature, especially inthe area of China, and confirm or challenge other existing theories. The paperconfirmed the western literature in many points, but also provided new informationabout the vision of these companies in China.

<p>Syftet med fördjupningsarbetet är att belysa den byggda miljöns betydelse för brottsligheten i ett bostadsområde. Arbetet har haft en utgångspunkt i att brottslighet kan förebyggas. För att ett brott ska kunna äga rum krävs att tre faktorer är uppfyllda; en motiverad gärningsman, ett objekt eller offer samt tillfälle att begå brottet. Utifrån det talar man om två typer av brottsförebyggande. Dels så kallad social prevention, det vill säga att påverka människor genom olika sociala åtgärder, dels situationell prevention, exempelvis genom att utforma miljöer och bostadsområden som gör det svårare att begå brott. Det finns en ekonomisk aspekt i det hela. Vårt resonemang är att det sannolikt kostar lika mycket att bygga upp en trygg och bra bostadsmiljö från början. Kanske har samhället, i form av kommuner arkitekter och byggherrar, skapat förutsättningarna för brott, då de inte medvetet vägt in brottsförebyggande aspekter som viktiga komponenter i planeringen för bostadsområden.</p>

I mitt examensarbete på Designprogrammet har jag arbetat med att ta fram ett bord för en fiktiv familj boende i ett ekohus. Jag har varit intresserad av den interaktion som sker tillsammans med en produkt. I projektet har jag fokuserat på det estetiska uttrycket och funktionen. Hållbar utveckling med långsiktighet har varit en annan ansats. Jag har lagt stor vikt vid att hitta fram till en lekfullhet i artefakten. Arbetet har inneburit studier av olika begrepp och teorier, arbete med idéskiss, användarstudie och andra metoder som designprocessen innebär. Jag hittar olika källor att hämta hjälp och inspiration av.

Jag har jobbat med ett gestaltningsförslag till det nya Resecentrum Öst som byggs i Umeå i och med Botniabanan. De inblandade (Umeå Kommun och White) har ambitionen att det ska bli ett landmärke. Med detta i åtanke har mitt projekt resulterat i några produkter som ska bidra till att ge resenärer en positiv upplevelse och ett mervärde till platsen. Genom att sätta mig in i planerna för området genom studiebesök och samtal med ansvariga har jag fått ökad förståelse för processen och samtidigt insett vikten av Inredningsarkitektens roll även i stora infrastrukturella projekt. Hur gör man för att förmedla och spegla en bild av Umeå och Norrland utan att det blir övertydligt och för dekorativt har varit en av mina huvudfrågor. Inspirationen har jag hämtat både från Samekulturen, naturen och gamla järnvägssignaler.

Today's technological development means that organizations are constantly evolving. This means that the market, which the organizations operate in, is constantly changing and becoming more complex to interpret. This development increases the demand to forecast possible outcomes and receive real-time information from the operations – i.e., obtain the most accurate data for decision-support. To make this possible, organizations need so-called ‘decision support systems’; IT-tools that rapidly provide decision makers with information based on relevant data. To obtain the highest possible value from the systems, they must seamlessly integrate and interact with the organization. This study examines how decision support systems, organizations and users relate to each other in an organizational context. The aim is to provide an insight into the limitations and possibilities of human behaviour, technological development and organizational structure to create and enable relevant and effective decision support systems. The paper’s theoretical framework is based on Orlikowski’s (1992) structurational model. The empirical material consists of semi-structured interviews, which are analysed based on Orlikowski’s model. The results show that although there is a common understanding on how the different factors should interact in order for the decision support systems to function the respondents neglected their own influence as users of the systems.<br>Dagens teknikutveckling medför att organisationer hela tiden utvecklas och förändras. Det i sin tur medför att den marknad organisationer agerar på förändras och blir alltmer komplex att tolka. Denna utveckling ökar efterfrågan att förutspå sannolika utfall, få information om verksamheten i realtid, kort sagt få ett korrekt beslutsunderlag. För att detta ska vara möjligt behövs IT-verktyg som snabbt kan förse beslutsfattare med underlag som grundar sig på relevanta data, så kallade beslutsstödsystem. För att få ut mesta möjliga värde från beslutsstödsystemen ställs höga krav på att de integreras och samverkar med organisationen. I studien undersöks hur beslutsstödsystem, organisationer och användare förhåller sig till varandra i en organisatorisk kontext. Målet är att ge en inblick i de begränsningar och möjligheter människors agerande, teknikens utveckling och organisationens struktur skapar för att möjliggöra relevanta och effektiva system för beslutsstöd. Studiens teoretiska ramverk tar sin utgångspunkt i Orlikowskis (1992) struktureringsmodell. Det empiriska materialet utgörs av semistrukturerade intervjuer som analyseras med utgångspunkt från Orlikowskis modell. Resultatet visar att även om det överlag finns en förståelse för hur olika faktorer bör samspela för att beslutsstödsystemen ska fungera, tonar respondenterna ner sin egen betydelse som användare av systemen.

In order to better understand variations of health behaviors between US-born and foreign-born elderly Asian Americans (65+) in the United States, the research aims to explore relationships among health outcomes, healthcare utilization, and sociodemographic characteristics. Data from the National Health Interview Survey 1998-2012 is used to construct structural equation models for the US born group and for the foreign born group. The results found that there is a reciprocal relationship between health outcomes and healthcare utilization in both groups. Use of healthcare services can positively affect health outcomes, while better health outcomes reduce the need for healthcare utilization. In addition, some sociodemographic characteristics, such as age, sex, and marital status have a direct effect on health outcomes, but some others, such as education, family size and combined family income, have an indirect effect on health outcomes via healthcare utilization. The region of residency has both direct and indirect effects on health outcomes. Regarding the effects of predictors on health outcomes, US-born elderly Asians usually receive more health advantages from using institutional health services than foreign-born elderly Asians. Practitioners, social gerontologists, and policy makers should be cautious about assuming that there is a positive impact of increased healthcare utilization on health outcomes in elderly Asian Americans.

Detta fenomen benämns som Born Globals, och karaktäriseras av små och medelstora företag som expanderar på den internationella marknaden tidigt efter grundandet. Dock har inte andelen svenska Born Global-företag ökat genom åren. Det beror på problem i form av oanpassat stöd, brist på kommunikation och förståelse för nyetablerade företag vid en tidig internationell expansion. Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur förekomsten och användningen av exportstöd påverkat etableringen av svenska Born Global-företag utomlands samt hur de redan etablerade Born Global-företagen upplevt sin expansion utomlands. Resultaten för vår undersökning baseras på en enkätundersökning där etablerade svenska Born Globals deltagit. Vissa etablerade svenska Born Globals anser att svenska institutioner måste mer aktivt stödja och främja små och medelstora företag att söka inhemskt exportstöd. Svenska institutioner erbjuder flera olika stöd men på grund av brist på förståelse har de inte förstått att kapitalstöd är den typ av exportstöd som svenska Born Global-företag helst velat erhålla. Förekomsten av exportstöd har inte påverkat svenska Born Globals att expandera utomlands, då majoriteten har lyckats utan exportstöd.

La cristallisation est un phénomène qui intéresse directement les procédés d’élaboration et de formage verriers. Dans ce travail, nous étudions les mécanismes de cristallisation dans des verres du système CaO-Al2O3-SiO2-B2O3. Il s’agit d’évaluer l’effet d’un ajout progressif d’oxyde de bore et l’influence de paramètres tels que la granulométrie et la voie d’élaboration sur la croissance cristalline. Différentes techniques comme l’analyse thermique, les microscopies optique et électronique à balayage, la diffraction des rayons X et les spectroscopies Raman et RMN ont été utilisées pour caractériser la cristallisation de verres entre 0 et 10 % de B2O3. Nous avons caractérisé les phases qui cristallisent : la wollastonite, la pseudowollastonite, l’anorthite, le quartz et la cristobalite. Les températures de liquidus et de transition vitreuse diminuent avec l’ajout de bore. Les vitesses maximales de croissance diminuent également avec l’augmentation de la teneur en bore. L’étude structurale par RMN (11B, 27Al, 29Si) a révélé que la formation d’unités BO4 est favorisée avec l’ajout de bore. La mobilisation du calcium par le bore pourrait expliquer l’effet inhibiteur du bore par rapport à la croissance cristalline. Les techniques in situ de MEB et DRX en température ont apporté des informations complémentaires sur l’évolution des vitesses de croissance et sur les séquences de cristallisation : la vitesse de croissance n’est pas constante mais diminue avec le temps ; dans les verres à faibles teneurs en bore, la dernière phase cristalline à apparaître est la cristobalite, dans les verres plus riches en bore c’est l’anorthite.

The experimental delineation was randomized completely, in factorial design 5 x 4, with five doses of boron (0; 0,25; 0,50; 0,75 e 1,00 mg dm-3), and four doses of the material termites mound nest (0; 25; 50 e 75 g dm-3), with four replications. The experimental unit was composed of vessels with up to 700 cm3 samples. The experiment was conducted in green house at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of UFGD, in Dourados-MS. The higher values of production on dry matter of shoots, plant height, leaf area, stem diameter and chlorophyll content are obtained by joint application of nest of termites material in maximum dose and between the two higher doses of B. I denna uppsats genomförs en filmanalys och represenationsstudie av de fyra filmatiseringarna av A Star Is Born. Historien i filmserien fångar den helomfattande glamouren och romantiken av showbusiness, spänningen i när någon verkligen tror på dig, lyckan att hyllas som stjärna, fallgroparna när berömmet tar slut och den komplexa manliga och kvinnliga dynamiken i processen. Syftet med uppsatsen är att utforska hur könsroller och koder kopplade till kön och genus upprätthålls eller bryts, samt hur de manifesteras och reproduceras hos huvudkaraktärerna i filmserien A Star Is Born. Dessa roller och koder analyseras och synliggörs med hjälp av representationsteori, genusteori feministisk filmteori och en konstnärlig gestaltning. Resultatet visar hur filmatiseringarnas olika tidsepoker, år 1937, 1954, 1976 och 2018, formar kontexten för respektive films handling och hur narrativet förlitar sig på könsroller för att förmedla mening och intention. Resultatet visar även på problematiken med den kvinnliga könsrollen som passivt objekt, destruktiva följder av porträtteringen av en manlig könsroll som inte tillåter misslyckanden och romantiseringen av den romantiska tragedin.

Foreign-born Black women giving birth in the United States have superior preterm birth outcomes compared to their U.S-born Black peers. Many studies have focused on tobacco use and medical risk factors, but few have focused solely on preconception health. The purpose of this study was to examine preconception health and preterm birth differences among U.S.-born and foreign-born Black women. Three theoretical frameworks guided this study: the life course theory, healthy migrant theory/immigrant paradox, and weathering theory. Primary research questions assessed (a) if there were an association between chronic preconception risk factors, prepregnancy obesity, diabetes, and hypertension, in U.S.-born and foreign-born Black women, (b) if U.S.-born Black women had a higher risk of having a preterm infant compared to foreign-born Black women, and (c) if weathering existed in U.S.-born and foreign-born Black women. A quantitative design using the 2017 Natality Public Use File was employed that included non-Hispanic Black women ages 15 to 44 years. Chi-square test and binary logistic regression were used for the data analysis. Key findings revealed (a) a statistically significant association between preterm birth and chronic preconception health risk factors in both groups of women, (b) U.S.-born women were roughly 1.4 times more likely to have a preterm infant than foreign-born women, and (c) both groups experienced weathering. This study might positively impact social change by offering an alternative perspective to the reproductive health advantage of foreign-born Black women. This perspective can aid in advancing policy and systems change strategies to address the root causes of racial and ethnic disparities in birth outcomes, advance health equity, and improve maternal health.

<p>Abstract The purpose of this thesis was to increase the understanding of two early internationalizing firms (Born Globals) brand building efforts. By performing case studies on these companies we wished to discover similarities and differences in their marketing efforts. The companies that we studied were CTEK Sweden AB, a battery charger manufacturer and POC Sweden AB, who designs advanced protective gear for the alpine ski market.</p><p>The theoretical framework was divided according to the four 4Ps (Product, Price, Promotion and Place) as previous studies had shown all four factors were important in the efforts of building a strong brand. Classical marketing mix theories have been augmented with theories on brand-building as well as international marketing to give further depth to the theory section.</p><p>Interviews were conducted with key people in each company, who we believed would have good insight into the strategies that these had pursued. After analyzing our empirical data, we drew the conclusion that the companies had many similar traits when it came to their brand-building efforts. The foundation for rapid brand building was laid by having an innovative product. A standardized promotion strategy was used by both companies in all target markets. The ability to disregard lucrative short-term gains in order to secure long-term benefits for the brands was also a common trait in the building of their brands.</p><p>Keywords: Brand-building, Branding Strategies, Born Globals, 4Ps</p>

Detta som en funktionell aspekt av föränderlighet men jag ville även införliva en emotionell föränderlighet. Jag vill att användaren, på ett handgripligt sätt, ska kunna uttrycka sig själv i bordet. Min intention är att man, genom att göra sitt eget unika bord, skapar ett starkare band mellan artefakt och dess användare. Detta som ett led i en hållbar utveckling så att produkterna vi äger kan brukas längre och motverka den ohållbara så kallade slit-och-slängkulturen.<br>The aim of the project has been to make a flexible table with the ability to change between high and low, and various table tops. Purpose– The assumption that microcredit alone can contribute to worldwide povertyalleviation is debated, the opponents voicing the need of non-credit services in addition togive the poor access to capital. Social intermediation services are argued to be essential inmaking a difference in a time where the impact of microfinance itself has been reappraised inseveral studies. Simultaneously, the shift to commercialization of the industry due to pressureto accomplish self–sustainability is inescapable; concerns over its benefits for the poor ispronounced. Some are suggesting positive effects, others argue there being negative effectsdue to the change in focus. The purpose of this study is to generate knowledge about theinfluence MFIs have in enabling individuals to be microentrepreneurs in Sri Lanka.Design/methodology/approach– This will be accomplished through investigating theconditions and terminology used by MFIs in relation to entrepreneurship and theirrequirements of training. The findings may be used as guidance to other MFIs andstakeholders, both nationally and globally, who wish to engage in this field. The study relieson qualitative methodology where multiple case studies were analyzed and the findings basedon primary data conducted from nine semi-structured interviews. The cases have beenselected according to theoretical sampling.Findings– Based on the findings and theories applied, it can be stated that the ambition of theMFIs in Sri Lanka is to contribute to the microentrepreneurs development. This isaccomplished by giving them microcredit, training and motivation to start a sustainablebusiness and thus rise out of poverty. The findings suggest that the MFIs have an importantrole, but that the responsibility following as a result of their influence is compromised. Theconclusion is that the MFIs do not acknowledge everyone to be entrepreneurs, and are lackingin providing the most optimal training and supply of microfinance services for theirmicroentrepreneurs to succeed. This is limiting the microentrepreneurs progress and excludesan unknown part of potential microentrepreneurs.Originality/value– The findings of this study can help us to understand how MFIs in SriLanka enable or restrict the microentrepreneur because of their expectations and otherconsequences due to the market of microfinance and the fundamental assumptions whichmicrofinance is based on. Our contribution provides context on what conditions andlimitations MFIs create for microentrepreneurs in rising out of poverty with the assistance ofmicrofinance. Någraredogör för de positiva effekter kommersialisering innebär och andra poängterar de negativakonsekvenserna av att förändra fokus. Syftet med denna studie är att skapa kunskap om detinflytande som mikrofinansinstitut (MFIs) har för att möjliggöra för individer att vara mikroentreprenöreri Sri Lanka.Design/metod/tillvägagångssätt– Detta kommer att åstadkommas genom att undersökavillkoren och terminologin i förhållande till entreprenörskap och MFIs krav på träning förderas mikrolåntagare. Studien bygger på en kvalitativ metod där flera fallstudier haranalyserats och resultaten är baserade på primära data utifrån nio semistrukturerade intervjuer.Fallen har valts ändamålsenligt enligt ett teoretiskt urval.Slutsatser– Utifrån studiens resultat och teorier kan det konstateras att MFIs ambition i SriLanka är att bidra till utvecklingen av mikroentreprenörer. Det görs genom att ge demmikrokredit, utbildning och motivation för att starta en hållbar inkomstgenererande aktivitetför att ta sig ut ur fattigdom. Resultatet visar på att mikrofinansinstituten har en viktig rollmen att det ansvar som MFIs har som följd av deras inflytande är försummat. Slutsatsen är attmikrofinansinstituten begränsar mikroentreprenörernas framgång och exkluderar en okänd delav potentiella entreprenörer då de inte erkänner alla som entreprenörer. De saknar även denoptimala träningen och utbud av mikrofinanstjänster för att få sina mikroentreprenörer attlyckas.Originalitet/värde– Resultatet av denna studie skapar förståelse för hur MFIs i Sri Lankamöjliggör eller begränsar mikroentreprenörer på grund av deras förväntningar och andraförutsättningar på grund av mikrofinansmarknaden och grundläggande antaganden sommikrofinanskonceptet bygger på. Vårt resultat bidrar till att tydliggöra vilka villkor ochbegränsningar mikrofinansinstituten skapar för mikroentreprenörer i att ta sig ut ur fattigdommed hjälp av mikrokredit. Resultaten kan användas som vägledning till andra MFIs ochintressenter, både nationellt och globalt, som vill engagera sig i detta område.Uppsatsen kommer fortsättningsvis att presenteras på engelska.

Tout d'abord, des ondes de surface, solutions de problèmes aux limites hyperboliques non linéaires, sont étudiées : on construit une solution BKW sous forme de développement infini en puissance de epsilon. On le justifie rigoureusement, en construisant une solution exacte, qui admet ce développement asymptotique. On montre que la solution n'est pas nécessairement purement localisée sur la frontière, même lorsque le terme source l'est ; l'exemple d'un cas particulier de l'élasticité est traité. Ensuite, on étudie la réflexion d'ondes non linéaires discontinues, pour des problèmes aux limites hyperboliques, faiblement bien posés, ni fortement stables, ni fortement instables. On étudie comment les singularités d'une solution striée sont réfléchies lorsque la solution atteint la frontière. On prouve des estimations striées et en normes infinies. On montre qu'une discontinuité du gradient de la solution à travers un hyperplan peut être réfléchie en une discontinuité de la solution elle-même<br>We first study surface waves, solutions of hyperbolic nonlinear boundary value problems. We construct BKW solutions in the weakly nonlinear regime with infinite expansion in powers of ε. We rigorously justify this expansion,constructing exact solutions, which admit the asymptotic expansions. We also show that the solution is not necessarily localized at the order O(ε∞) in the interior, even if the data are ; a particular case of elasticity is studied: we prove that fast oscillatory elastic surface waves can produce non trivial internal non oscillatory displacements.Afterwards, we study the reflection of non linear discontinuous waves, for weakly well-posed hyperbolic boundary value problems, satisfying the (WR) condition, which has been introduced in [1, 12], that is in a case where the IBVP is neither strongly stable, nor strongly unstable. We study how the singularities of a striated solution are reflected when the solution hits the boundary. We prove striated estimates and L∞ estimates and observe the loss of one derivative: we show that a discontinuityof the gradient of the solution across an hyperplane can be reflected in a discontinuity across an hyperplane of the solution itself

This report covers the product development of a new type of extendable table for the company Karl Andersson och Söner. The company wants to expand their product collection with a new product. Karl Andersson och Söner is a well-known family company that has been located in Huskvarna since 1898, and they are producing furniture for private- and the public environment. The aim with this project is that the product should lead to increased sales, as well as expand their collection to appeal a wider audience. The work is permeated by two issues, to achieve as good results as possible. The issues will bring up how to make a table better, in terms of the competitor’s options, and how to apply a design process to develop a table that meets the markets needs and requirements. The design process of the work consists of strategically picked parts from three separate design processes. Work began with identifying the competitor’s similar products and their advantages and disadvantages. Of the information gathered, a survey was created about extendable tables which were then translated into requirements. Furthermore, the customer’s needs and requirements were compiled from the survey together with the client’s requirements and put in the house of quality for quality function deployment, QFD. The use of QFD gave us the interwoven demands from both customer and client that was later compiled in a final specification. Furthermore, the sketching phase began where focus was put on the solution of the extendable mechanism, instead of the design of the table. In our case, we focused on finding a new and different solution that had not been seen before, based on the requirements that was compiled. The sketches on the extendable mechanism were evaluated using the Pugh Matrix together with the competitor’s mechanisms towards the specification, to see which solution met the requirements best. The result was that one of the competitor’s mechanism met the requirements best and the decision was taken to use the tested and well proven extendable mechanism as a starting point, but also to develop it further. The whole design of the table gradually took shape through sketches, which were inspired by a chair that is available in Karl Andersson och Söners product collection. The final product resulted in an extendable table based on the customers and the client’s guidelines and requirements.

Heroes Are Born Then Made is a theatre piece involving live actors on stage, and live music originating from an orchestra pit. The script and music is original. The music is meant to literally depict actions and emotions on stage whether the actors are present or not. The duration of the entire production is about two and one-half hours long. Six main actors are used with additional walk-ons. Sixteen musicians are required to make up the orchestra which is organized into a woodwind quartet, a brass trio, a string quartet, a piano, and a percussion quartet. The play is based on the author's conception of how people tend to treat each other when someone is caught at a disadvantage. Specifically it is a depiction of the conflict involved when the minor characters discover that the main character is trying to do something quite different from their definition of "normal."

<p>This dissertation sets out to explore the phenomenon of Born Globals, a small, international entrepreneurial firm. The study aims at exploring how the entrepreneur perceives the factors that influence the creation of a Born Global. This topic has been chosen since little research has been carried out in order to investigate what the entrepreneurs find important in the creation of a Born Global. This fact has been the basis in developing our study’s aim to investigate the factors’ relative importance. </p><p>The first step in the investigation is the literature review which is carried out in order to gain significant knowledge about the phenomenon before collecting empirical data of our own, the deductive approach. The literature review revolves around the conceptual framework created by Andersson & Wictor (2003), which has been used to summarise other findings by other authors into the four subcategories that our found to facilitate the creation of a Born Global. In addition to these factors we have found that nation specific characteristics and company specific advantages, as well as entry modes are feasible facilitators to discuss further.</p><p>When considering methodology a qualitative design has been found the most suitable. The approach used is influenced by Phenomenography which aims to describe people’s perceptions and experiences of different phenomena. In order to investigate this phenomenon we have used open interviews with two different entrepreneurs that were found through careful sampling. The companies chosen are located on two different continents and in two different businesses.</p><p>The interviews have been transcribed and categorised and the empirical data have been divided into the same categories used in the literature review. This has been done in order to make it easier to read but also easier to analyse. After the summary of the empirical data we have conducted a cross analysis. In analysing the data we have looked for similarities and differences in order to draw conclusions regarding the issues set out to investigate. </p><p>The empirical results and the analysis revolve around the six areas outlined in the theory, i.e. Globalisation, Entrepreneur, Networks, Industry, Entry Modes, and A fit between nation specific characteristics and company specific advantages. The two entrepreneurs consider the same factors to have had the biggest influence for the biggest part. However they disagree regarding the importance of Networks and Market Entry. These factors have both had an impact on the companies but their relative importance is disputed. </p><p>We would like to stress that the investigated attitudes are subjective. It is the interviewees’ attitudes and opinions the study has been aiming at investigating and therefore it is important to identify the individual as a factor when discussing the investigation’s credibility. It is rather unlikely that we would have reached the same conclusions with different interviewees but since it is attitudes that have been investigated it is only natural and does therefore not clash with the purpose of the study.</p>
