We define the notion of a Kirby element of a ribbon category $\mathcal{C}$ (not necessarily semisimple). Kirby elements lead to 3-manifold invariants. We characterize a class of Kirby elements, the algebraic Kirby elements, in terms of the structure maps of a Hopf algebra in $\mathcal{C}$. This class is sufficiently large to recover the quantum invariants of 3-manifolds of Reshetikhin and Turaev, of Hennings, Kauffman and Radford, and of Lyubashenko when these are well defined. The cases of a semisimple ribbon category and of a category of representations are explored in detail.

Deep learning-based super-resolution (SR) is an effective state-of-the-art technique for enhancing low-resolution images. This study explains a hierarchical dataset structure within the scope of enhancing grayscale historical aerial photographs with a basic SR model and relates it to non-reference image quality metric. The dataset was structured based on the hierarchy of photo interpretation elements. Images of bare land and forestry areas were evaluated as the primary category containing tone and color elements, images of residential areas as the secondary category containing shape and size e

We reexamine cases of coordinated elements that do not match in syntactic category. We show that these fall into two types. The first type includes predicates, modifiers in the clausal domain, and such modifiers apparently coordinated with arguments. We argue that these do not actually involve coordination of unlike categories. The second type involves coordinated arguments of different categories. With this type, unlike the first, noninitial conjuncts may violate selectional restrictions. To account for these violations, researchers have typically posited a special status for the first conjun

Empty categories are one of the fundamental parts of generativist’s view towards language. Empty operators, the so-called null elements, which are syntactically active in relative clauses and possibly move into [spec, CP], have reportedly been found in different languages. However, there is no solid evidence for the existence of empty operators in Persian relative clauses. Despite this, syntactic evidences such as theta theory, argument structure and subjacency condition provide satisfactory provable tests in favor of their role in Persian grammar. Namely, Persian relative clauses contain resu

AbstractIn a previous work, we associated a complete diòerential graded Lie algebra to any finite simplicial complex in a functorial way. Similarly, we also have a realization functor fromthe category of complete diòerential graded Lie algebras to the category of simplicial sets. We have already interpreted the homology of a Lie algebra in terms of homotopy groups of its realization. In this paper, we begin a dictionary between models and simplicial complexes by establishing a correspondence between the Deligne groupoid of the model and the connected components of the finite simplicial complex
