Abstract:
The tax-clientele theory suggests that higher (lower) tax-rate investors should, ceteris paribus, concentrate their portfolios in tax-favored (explicitly taxed) assets. While evidence supporting the tax-clientele theory exists, research on tax-induced dividend clienteles for common stocks is mixed. This study examines trading activity, measured using daily transaction data, following dividend increases for evidence of shareholder clientele changes. Consistent with implications of the tax-induced dividend clientele theory, I document a strong positive association between dividend increase magnitude and post-dividend-increase trading activity. This result provides evidence that tax clienteles for dividend policies exists and that their effect is strong enough to influence investors' decisions. Further, consistent with dividend clienteles existing, I find that the relation between dividend-increase magnitude and postdividend-increase trading activity decreases with higher pre-dividend-increase dividend levels.

Abstract:
We study share price performance at the ex-dividend date and its relation to trading volume and a set of factors corresponding to different explanatory theories. Among the investigated factors that may have impact on the ex-dividend date share price are dividend yield, capital gains tax rate and dividends tax rate, transaction costs, market microstructure characteristics, market stock risk, and the disposition effect. The research was conducted using the panel data of companies from the BRIC zone for the period of 2005-2015. According to the obtained results, dividend capturing and disposition effect theories are likely to have explanatory power for the ex-day phenomenon for our sample. Tax theory and dividend clientele theory have not found empirical support.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore whether share ownership structure plays a role in determining the ex-day pricing of dividends. If share ownership structure, specifically the proportion of the firm’s stock held by individuals vs institutions, has an effect on the ex-dividend day stock price behavior, the ex-day premium is expected to be different for firms with different ownership structures. Design/methodology/approach To investigate whether the ex-day pricing of dividends is affected by the proportion of the firm’s stock held by individuals vs institutions, the author look into the ex-day premium. The ex-day premium is calculated by dividing the difference between the closing price on the cum-dividend day and the closing price on the ex-dividend day by the amount of the dividend. Findings Consistent with both the tax-based theory and the dynamic trading clientele theory, the author find that the ex-day premium decreases with the level of individual ownership. Consistent with the short-term trading theory, the author also find that the ex-day premium increases with the degree of investor heterogeneity, defined as the product of the proportion of the firm’s stock held by individual investors and the proportion held by institutional investors. Originality/value The author believe that this study contributes to the literature by providing useful evidence that share ownership structure affects the ex-day pricing of dividends, and thus this study will be of interest to the readers of managerial finance.

Abstract:
This paper attempts to understand the linkage of dividend decisions and investors’ perceptions within the context of the Pakistani corporate sector. It is intended to proffer new evidence for designing dividend policies that satisfies investors’ perceptions. Data are collected from individual investors by using questionnaires to obtain opinions about essential factors, patterns, processes and preferences for cash dividends. Results indicate that stability in the rate of dividend, compatibility with the inflation rate and continuity of dividend payment are the top-ranking factors for investors. Stock dividends are preferred by Pakistani investors if their company is not paying cash dividends, and share buy-back decisions are taken negatively. The theoretical explanation for preferring dividends indicates that Pakistani investors support dividend signaling theory, agency cost, clientele effect, asymmetric information effect, tax effect and rational expectation models. That is why it exhibits a positive relation between dividends and investors’ perception. The contributions and recommendations for further studies are also addressed.

Abstract:
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to establish the influence of commercial banks’ capacity building lending strategy on the growth of SMEs in Kenya.Methodology: The researcher used purposive sampling to select respondents. The sample size was comprised of 352 respondents. The study used questionnaires to collect data from the field. Both quantitative and qualitative data gathered was coded and analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) computer software. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze the data in frequency distributions and percentages which were presented in tables and figures. Inferential statistics were used to analyze qualitative data. Results: The study found out that commercial banks’ capacity building have a positive and significant effect on MSEs growth. (r=0.656, p=0.001).Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The study recommends for commercial banks to train their employees on how to handle clientele needs. Commercial banks need to embark on major training programmes and address their efforts to professionalize SME account managers. In fact, bank staffs dealing with SMEs need a sound knowledge of entrepreneurs and their businesses in order to develop an affinity with their clients and offer them solutions adapted to their needs. The actions which banks need to take include a better selection of new account managers for SMEs. They need to look for candidates with an adequate background and experience in small business or with entrepreneurial skills, who can be flexible and sensitive to SMEs issues.

Abstract:
The prime objective of this paper is to survey the managers of Bursa Malaysia listed non-financial firms and to divulge their views regarding the significance of various potential factors that may affect dividend decisions. In addition to that, we are also interested in highlighting that how managerial perception about the importance of these factors varies from country to country. Our next objective is to know the level of importance, Malaysian managers give to dividend processes and pattern, firm value. Dividend policy (DP) and residual dividend policy (RDP). Finally, we are interested in measuring the level of support that Malaysian managers provide for different justifications for the payment of dividends. Survey instrument including a cover letter was mailed to chief finance officers (CFO) and finance managers of 493 Bursa Malaysia listed firms in October 2017. In the cover letter, a request was made to all respondents that in case of their non-involvement in dividend decision the letter must be forwarded to concerned authority involved in dividend decisions. The response rate of the current study is 40.09 percent (202 out of 493 firms). The study has used a mail survey of Bursa Malaysia listed non-financial firms that have paid at least one cash dividend during the period of 2013-2016 as a primary means of collecting data. No single pattern in rankings of factors among different countries has emerged. However, like their American, Canadian and Indonesian counterparts, According to Malaysian managers, dividend decisions have a significant effect on firm value. Although, a great deal of support has already been established with all dividend theories, however clientele and agency theory has proven to be the strongest one. In author’s knowledge, this is the first study designed to explore the views of Malaysian managers on DP in Malaysia.

About 5% to 10% of people who resort to psychology/psychotherapy services find themselves worse at the end of the psychotherapeutic process. Abstract:
The French case serves as a reminder that the timing and magnitude of policy feedback effects are historically contingent. Compared to their German and British counterparts, French incumbents faced fewer challenges and weaker constraints prior to World War II, and a correspondingly stronger political backlash thereafter. The first set of reforms was more severely market-restraining, and gave rise to a new breed of sheltered incumbents closely connected to the state. As in other countries and time periods, and like market-enabling rules, the market-restraining French arrangements had self-reinforcing feedback effects: They effectively suppressed the rise of a pro-market clientele. As in Germany, self-undermining feedback effects countervailed. As in Britain, the first steps toward marketization gave rise to a fledgling takeover industry interested in market expansion. However, unlike in Britain, the growth of this pro-market clientele was nipped in the bud by the unfavorable economic climate of the 1970s.

Abstract:
Chapters 3, 4, and 5 examine empirically why markets for corporate control expanded even though incumbents resisted exposure to competition. The British case, presented in Chapter 3, illustrates the doubly self-reinforcing feedback effects of market-enabling takeover rules. Even in Britain, rules conducive to takeover bids did not emerge until after World War II. The first regulatory blow to the entrenched position of corporate insiders was dealt not by shareholder-oriented market liberals, but by stakeholder-oriented parties to their left. Marketization was an unintended side-effect eagerly snatched up by incumbents’ symbionts, namely merchant banks, who abandoned their former allies to become profiteers. Marketization gathered speed not only because the pro-market clienteles grew, but also because opposition waned as competition intensified. I attribute this to feedback effects of marketization on the power resources, attitudes, and behavior of politically relevant groups, including institutional investors, bankers, managers, and trade unions.

This chapter examines changes in the field of spiritual healing and seeing in Kokjangak. It first provides an overview of the proliferation of spiritual practices in the post-Soviet period before discussing the uncertainty of the position of spiritual practitioners in Kokjangak. It shows that the foundation of spiritual healing and seeing in Kokjangak was unstable, in part because the actions of jinns (ghosts or spirits) and the effects of mediation were themselves unpredictable. It also discusses the discourses and actions of spiritual healers, their clientele, and other actors to demonstrate how the believability of spiritual healers and clairvoyants is socially mediated and experientially constituted.

Abstract:
The emergence of social networking sites and platforms has paved the way for alternative marketing and information dissemination tools. Several institutions, including special libraries, take advantage of this new technology due to its low cost, ease of use, and wider reach. But since it is a relatively new technology, and its practice is usually not formalized, there is a lack of policies in implementing social media campaigns, especially in special libraries. While social media tools are very popular and easy to use, they still demand considerable time and effort. Thus, it is important to evaluate the impact of special libraries' use of social media among their clientele and target audience. This chapter will feature selected social media tools appropriate for special libraries and recommend guidelines in planning social media campaigns and evaluating their impact.

Abstract:
Images of commodities and what they communicate continue to be the preoccupations of the second chapter as well. However, here it moves away from the class dimensions and focuses on other aspects such as representation of the urban space, anonymity, multiple identities, and niche clientele. Such commodity representations provide an interesting and alternative reading of social and spatial transformations post 1990s. It captures a shift from utility and function to experiences and aspirations in the material culture of a globalized world. It argues that there is a conscious effort to seduce the consumer by emphasizing on the desirability and the personality of the commodity by constantly connecting it to imagined ideal selves. That is how mundane is transformed into exotic, and commodities become more personal, intimate, and identifiable. These persuasive images are central to the project of comprehending the changing consumerist landscape.

Abstract:
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on tourism is a widely discussed topic nowadays. However, this article does not address the global impact of the pandemic. The focus is on government’s decisions, which to some extent may be the cause of the impact on tourism. The government is responsible for setting specific measures to prevent the spread of the disease and is also responsible for implementing tools in order to eliminate the effects of the crisis and stimulate an economic and social activity. The aim of this article is to present an evaluation of government’s measures from the perspective of tourism entrepreneurs. The research focuses on the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Czech Republic, which hit the country in the spring of 2020. The respondents of the research were entrepreneurs in the catering and accommodation sector with their premises in Mikulov. Data were collected using electronic questionnaires. Their return rate was 27%. To complement the qualitative data of the research, an interview was conducted with a destination coordinator. The findings reveal that overall, entrepreneurs rated government’s measures as negative in the context of their business. Their economic result fell by more than 75% and they also recorded a significant loss of clientele. Entrepreneurs were very critical of the overall actions of the government, which according to them, created confusion. On the contrary, they assessed the government’s support positively.

Abstract:
Abstract: The reception of Le Corbusier’s early buildings in Paris provoked an astonishing sensation of shock and estrangement in the public of the time. This troubling sensation of wonder is still alive today, after almost a century from their construction, and it is particularly vivid in some of the interiors, as we can notice from the photographic documentation of the time. Sigmund Freud, in his book “The interpretation of dreams”, underlined the direct relation existing between the interior of the human psyche and the interior of the house a subject lives in. He defined the interior of each man’s home as a sort of “diagnostic box” of the human mind, able to disclose the psyche of the individual, expressing his dreams, desires and obsessions. In his purist houses, Le Corbusier seems to have imposed his overwhelming personality on the clients, somehow expressing his own idealistic dream of the city of the future and foreseeing the visionary scenarios of a modernist utopia. This paper’s goal is to present a psychoanalytic reading of Le Corbusier’s buildings of the time, analyzing a number of significant examples in order to identify their uncanny effects, disclosing the hidden relations between cause and effect, and decoding the related composing technics used in the interior design.
