Abstract:
AbstractA novel method for boundary constrained tetrahedral mesh generation is proposed based on Advancing Front Technique (AFT) and conforming Delaunay triangulation. Given a triangulated surface mesh, AFT is firstly applied to mesh several layers of elements adjacent to the boundary. The rest of the domain is then meshed by the conforming Delaunay triangulation. The non-conformal interface between two parts of meshes are adjusted. Mesh refinement and mesh optimization are then preformed to obtain a more reasonable-sized mesh with better quality. Robustness and quality of the proposed method is shown. Convergence proof of each stage as well as the whole algorithm is provided. Various numerical examples are included as well as the quality of the meshes.

A strategy is presented to find a set of points that yields a Conforming Delaunay tetrahedralization of a three-dimensional Piecewise-Linear complex (PLC). This algorithm is novel because it imposes no angle restrictions on the input PLC. In the process, an algorithm is described that computes a planar conforming Delaunay triangulation of a Planar Straight-Line Graph (PSLG) such that each triangle has a bounded circumradius, which may be of independent interest.

Abstract:
Delaunay refinement is a technique for generating unstructured meshes of triangles for sensor network configuration engineering practice. A new method for solving Delaunay triangulation problem is proposed in this paper, which is called endpoint triangle’s circumcircle model (ETCM). As compared with the original fractional node refinement algorithms, the proposed algorithm can get well refinement stability with least time cost. Simulations are performed under five aspects including refinement stability, the number of additional nodes, time cost, mesh quality after intruding additional nodes, and the aspect ratio improved by single additional node. All experimental results show the advantages of the proposed algorithm as compared with the existing algorithms and confirm the algorithm analysis sufficiently.

Abstract:
A concurrent binary tree (CBT) is a GPU-friendly data-structure suitable for the generation of bisection based terrain tessellations, i.e., adaptive triangulations over square domains. In this paper, we expand the benefits of this data-structure in two respects. First, we show how to bring bisection based tessellations to arbitrary polygon meshes rather than just squares. Our approach consists of mapping a triangular subdivision primitive, which we refer to as a bisector, to each halfedge of the input mesh. These bisectors can then be subdivided adaptively to produce conforming triangulations solely based on halfedge operators. Second, we alleviate a limitation that restricted the triangulations to low subdivision levels. We do so by using the CBT as a memory pool manager rather than an implicit encoding of the triangulation as done originally. By using a CBT in this way, we concurrently allocate and/or release bisectors during adaptive subdivision using shared GPU memory. We demonstrate the benefits of our improvements by rendering planetary scale geometry out of very coarse meshes. Performance-wise, our triangulation method evaluates in less than 0.2ms on console-level hardware.

Abstract:
An efficient terrain generation algorithm is developed, based on constrained conforming Delaunay triangulation. The density of triangulation in different regions of a terrain is determined by its flatness, as seen from a height map, and a control map. Tracks and other objects found in a game world can be applied over the terrain using the “stenciling” and “stitching” algorithms. Using user controlled parameters, varying levels of detail can be preserved when applying these objects over the terrain as well. The algorithms have been incorporated into 3dsMax as plugins, and the experimental results demonstrate the usefulness and efficiency of the developed algorithms.

Abstract:
Purpose This study aims to develop an efficient algorithm for generation of conforming mesh for seepage analysis through 3D discrete fracture networks (DFN). Design/methodology/approach The algorithm is developed based on a refined conforming Delaunay triangulation scheme, which is then validated using analytical solutions. The algorithm is well able to meet the challenge of meshing complex geometry of DFNs. Findings A series of sensitivity analysis have been performed to evaluate the effect of meshing parameters on steady state solution of Darcy flow using a finite element scheme. The results show that an optimized minimum internal angle of meshing elements should be predetermined to guarantee termination of the algorithm. Originality/value The developed algorithm is computationally efficient, fast and is of low cost. Furthermore, it never changes the geometrical structure and connectivity pattern of the DFN.

Abstract:
Abstract The paper presents a cognitive semiotic perspective on spontaneous gesturing (or singular gestures), understood as spontaneous co-speech embodied activity, devoid of linguistic properties, and not conforming to social conventions. In line with the cognitive-semiotic attitude, the paper addresses the so far underexplored methodological issue of complementing third-person methods of gesture studies with first- and second-person perspectives on speech and gesturing in line with phenomenological triangulation. Merleau-Ponty’s ideas presented in Phenomenology of Perception are the starting point for the exploration of aspects of a phenomenological view of gestural meaning-making. Gesturing, as a meaning-making activity, is analyzed in terms of embodied accomplishment of meaning. Gestural bodily activity is subsequently analyzed in terms of pre-reflective self-consciousness and reflective self-consciousness. The paper is intended as a contribution to studies on the phenomenology of gesturing, with perspectives for further research sketched in the concluding section.

Abstract:
We propose and analyze a discontinuous Galerkin approximation for the Stokes problem. The finite element triangulation employed is not required to be conforming and we use discontinuous pressures and velocities. No additional unknown fields need to be introduced, but only suitable bilinear forms defined on the interfaces between the elements, involving the jumps of the velocity and the average of the pressure. We consider hp approximations using ℚk′–ℚk velocity-pressure pairs with k′ = k + 2, k + 1, k. Our methods show better stability properties than the corresponding conforming ones. We prove that our first two choices of velocity spaces ensure uniform divergence stability with respect to the mesh size h. Numerical results show that they are uniformly stable with respect to the local polynomial degree k, a property that has no analog in the conforming case. An explicit bound in k which is not sharp is also proven. Numerical results show that if equal order approximation is chosen for the velocity and pressure, no spurious pressure modes are present but the method is not uniformly stable either with respect to h or k. We derive a priori error estimates generalizing the abstract theory of mixed methods. Optimal error estimates in h are proven. As for discontinuous Galerkin methods for scalar diffusive problems, half of the power of k is lost for p and hp pproximations independently of the divergence stability.

Abstract:
A virtual element method (VEM) with the first-order optimal convergence order is developed for solving two-dimensional Maxwell interface problems on a special class of polygonal meshes that are cut by the interface from a background unfitted mesh. A novel virtual space is introduced on a virtual triangulation of the polygonal mesh satisfying a maximum angle condition, which shares exactly the same degrees of freedom as the usual [Formula: see text]-conforming virtual space. This new virtual space serves as the key to prove that the optimal error bounds of the VEM are independent of high aspect ratio of the possible anisotropic polygonal mesh near the interface.

AbstractThis paper provides a refined a posteriori error control for the obstacle problem with an affine obstacle which allows for a proof of optimal complexity of an adaptive algorithm. This is the first adaptive mesh-refining finite element method known to be of optimal complexity for some variational inequality. The result holds for first-order conforming finite element methods in any spacial dimension based on shape-regular triangulation into simplices for an affine obstacle. The key contribution is the discrete reliability of the a posteriori error estimator from [Numer. Math. 107 (2007), 455–471] in an edge-oriented modification which circumvents the difficulties caused by the non-existence of a positive second-order approximation [Math. Comp. 71 (2002), 1405–1419].

Abstract:
The shallow water equations (SWE) is often simulated by using Eulerian descriptions. These phenomena may give rise to strong gradients and lead to large distortion of grids meshes. Hence classical finite elements methods may fall in simulating such problems. In this paper we present a meshless method, based on the natural element nethod (NEM). In a geometrical domain of a cloud of nodes, NEM uses the Voronoi cells and then its dual, namely Delaunay triangulation. Its main advantage lies in shape function of the natural neighbour interpolation, such that the position of natural neighbours is enough to its construction. To avoid the nonlinear term, the time material derivative term is discretized by a Lagrangian procedure. We also used an appropriate nodal integration technique to estimate integrals related to the diffusion, pressure and Coriolis terms because NEM shape functions are not polynomials and they are rational. For the diffusion term, the method of stabilized conforming nodal integration (SCNI) is proposed while for pressure and Coriolis terms a geometrical method will transform the integration over the cells domain to the integration over the edges. The method was successfully used to simulate dam-break flows by solving the fully 2D shallow water equations (SWE) by using an implicit scheme under a transient flow.

Abstract:
In this study, a triangulation of (a) spatial data, (b) self-awareness, and (c) behavioral self-analysis seeks to provide an explanation from an innovative perspective for the likelihood of the occurrence of predatory crimes in the city center. This study does not examine the circumstances in which criminal acts occur. Instead, it focuses on a broader concept that combines both the configurational factors and the behavioral interconnections in which criminal acts occur. We orient the occurrence probability of crime towards appropriate objectives in the presence or absence of attractors/detractors, with interesting variation in the behavior of the acting subject—in our case, a random walker (also called the Random Movement–displacement Agent, or RDMA, in the text), which is the key variable that triggers the occurrence probability of predatory crimes. The relationship between spatial and/or behavioral observations and the probability of the crimes that may result from such observations is limited in this text to “predatory crimes,” which are the most common and light forms of crimes that endanger both human quality of life and the related safety in the city. Such crimes include theft, damage (specifically crime against public property and all similar offensive acts, such as littering and incivility), physical attacks (restrained to attempted violence against defenseless people), robberies, and car thefts (i.e., the most frequent crimes in urban areas). The theory of complexity, specifically as illustrated by the in-depth work of the 20th century German sociologist Niklas Luhmann, also suggests the importance of self-analysis in specific contexts to construct a mosaic of social phenomena. We conducted both a behavioral self-survey and a metric-based self-analysis by measuring random walks (RWs) to achieve some common behaviors—for example, buying food, shopping, or just looking at shop windows—on the streets of downtown Hamburg, Germany. RWs are used in our article to indicate random walks in the city center and any activities that may arise from them, such as protecting oneself from potentially hostile contexts, seeking information, or conforming oneself to official signals and customs. The hundreds of images taken by us in October 2019 during their RWs in Hamburg form a reservoir of our pictures, with the aim of showing the acceptable patterns of random movements–displacements that emerge. This method was primarily discursive but based on the ongoing search for a transformative conduit of behaviors that were intuitively established and observable for us but actually involved a complex process of imaginative ideation that was impossible to promote and pass on to the reader.

Abstract:
Every social group has norms to influence its fellow members. One of the influences that occur in a social group is conformity. However, conformity can have a negative impact on a group, especially the intervention of sexual orientation deviation. This study uses a case study approach to determine the conformity process that occurs in a bisexual group. The respondents of this study were eight active student respondents at universities in Makassar City, including four students with bisexual status and each significant other. Respondents were collected by using snowball sampling method. Data analysis was carried out by coding data in the form of thematic analysis in describing the data obtained. Verification of this research data using data triangulation techniques. The results showed that the conformity process that occurs in organizations and communities can be influenced by the influence of group size and attraction that changes beliefs by dominant bisexual groups to non-bisexual groups. The implication of this research refers to students being more selective and applying awareness when joining social groups so as not to fall into the LGBT network, especially bisexuals. Abstract:
The financial management of waste banks plays a crucial role in ensuring their sustainability and accountability. However, many waste banks, including the Langenharjo Waste Bank, face challenges in implementing accounting systems that comply with financial reporting standards. This study aimed to describe the accounting system implementation in Langenharjo Waste Bank and its conformity with the Financial Accounting Standards for Micro, Small, and Medium Entities (SAK-EMKM), from its transaction recording system to the final financial statements. This qualitative research applied a case study design with research subjects involving the chairman, the treasurer, and two staff. The data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation; validated using source and method triangulation; and analyzed using interactive analysis. The results showed that the accounting system implementation in Langenharjo Waste Bank had been conducted regularly and manually in two ways: listing the garbages, the customers and their savings, and the particular journals; and reporting the profit and the loss. The results also indicated that the accounting system implementation at Langenharjo Waste Bank had not conformed with the SAK-EMKM. The main reason was the need for more accounting management knowledge. Some changes needed at the recording stage were making a general journal, completing the classification, and summarizing phases by making ledgers and trial balances. At the reporting stage, it was necessary to prepare the financial position report and notes on financial statements to improve the accounting system at Langenharjo Waste Bank.

Abstract:
The present studies focused on the role and socialization of biographical master narratives – cultural narratives that prescribe the types and ordering of events that should occur in one’s personal life identity narrative – by focusing on adolescent and emerging adult gender identity development. We employed a combined explanatory and triangulation mixed methods design. Study 1a ( n = 414) was a survey study examining the expected biographical master narrative events for men and women, and the content of master narrative deviation and conformity in an emerging adult sample. In Study 1b ( n = 14) we interviewed participants from Study 1a about their conformity and deviation narratives, as well as their socialization experiences regarding gendered biographical master narratives. In Study 2 mothers and adolescents ( n = 11 pairs), engaged in conversation about expected life course events, as well as a follow-up interview about their conversation. We first found that there are more gender differences in the personal experiences of conformity to and deviation from master narratives compared to the expectations of the life course (Study 1a). Second, deviating is related to more engagement in identity processes (Study 1a). Third, emerging adults report contradictions in retrospective reports of socialization messages regarding expectations (Study 1b), a finding confirmed in a discourse analysis of mothers and their adolescents (Study 2). Overall, across the studies, we see that (a) adolescents and emerging adults are engaged in a delicate balance of negotiating between various cultural and familial messages, as well as personal experiences, about gender identity particularly in regards to gender equality and, (b) there is a complex relation between socialization messages about gender equality that may make some biographical master narratives about the expected life course events for men and women more resistant to change.

Abstract:
Abstract The global arrangement of the degrees of freedom in a standard Argyris finite element method (FEM) enforces C 2 {C^{2}} at interior vertices, while solely global C 1 {C^{1}} continuity is required for the conformity in H 2 {H^{2}} . Since the Argyris finite element functions are not C 2 {C^{2}} at the midpoints of edges in general, the bisection of an edge for mesh-refinement leads to non-nestedness: the standard Argyris finite element space A ′ ⁢ ( 𝒯 ) {A^{\prime}(\mathcal{T})} associated to a triangulation 𝒯 {\mathcal{T}} with a refinement 𝒯 ^ {\widehat{\mathcal{T}}} is not a subspace of the standard Argyris finite element space A ′ ⁢ ( 𝒯 ^ ) {A^{\prime}(\widehat{\mathcal{T}})} associated to the refined triangulation 𝒯 ^ {\widehat{\mathcal{T}}} . This paper suggests an extension A ⁢ ( 𝒯 ) {A(\mathcal{T})} of A ′ ⁢ ( 𝒯 ) {A^{\prime}(\mathcal{T})} that allows for nestedness A ⁢ ( 𝒯 ) ⊂ A ⁢ ( 𝒯 ^ ) {A(\mathcal{T})\subset A(\widehat{\mathcal{T}})} under mesh-refinement. The extended Argyris finite element space A ⁢ ( 𝒯 ) {A(\mathcal{T})} is called hierarchical, but is still based on the concept of the Argyris finite element as a triple ( T , P 5 ⁢ ( T ) , ( Λ 1 , … , Λ 21 ) ) {(T,P_{5}(T),(\Lambda_{1},\dots,\Lambda_{21}))} in the sense of Ciarlet. The other main results of this paper are the optimal convergence rates of an adaptive mesh-refinement algorithm via the abstract framework of the axioms of adaptivity and uniform convergence of a local multigrid V-cycle algorithm for the effective solution of the discrete system.

Abstract:
In this article we analyse the quality of social services from the perspective of people with disabilities and we analyse other social services quality studies that use the EQUASS system or the SERVQUAL model. We show the contrast between the high quality ratings reported by social workers and unmet expectations of the services’ recipients. It is argued that the difference may be due to methodological errors in choosing one or another research method, and the phenomenon of social workers’ conformism, which can be supported also by the peculiarities of Lithuania’s long-term social policy. It is proposed that the SERWQUAL model be used for the study of the quality of social services, which is flexible with regards to the needs of service users. Triangulation of research methods was used to analyse the data. We show evaluation of the quality of social services according to the 5 dimensions of the SERWQUAL model: tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance (certainty) and sensitivity (empathy).

Abstract:
This article explores the capacity of a decision support system (DSS) to improve the quality of decision making in extreme situations. This DSS is actually based on a networked information system (IS). Academic literature commonly mentions models of fit to explore the relationship between technology and performance, reckoning users’ evaluations as a relevant measurement technique for Information System (IS) success. Although effective contributions have been achieved in measurement and exploration of fit, there have been few attempts to investigate the triangulation of fit between “Task-DSS-Decision Maker” under stressful and uncertain events. This article provides new insights regarding the assessment of advantages provided by networked IS for making relevant decisions under such circumstances. An original case study has been conducted. It is focused on a decision support system called Link 16 that is used during aerial missions. This case study shows that the system improves decision making on an individual basis and suggests to take into account three main criteria – compliance, complementarity and conformity – to measure DSS performance under extreme situations.

This article attempts to describe two academic problems. First, how the motives and behavior of Muslim traders in traditional markets. Second, how these motives and behaviors are related to the theorizing of Islamic Economics, especially in the theory of production. This field research is a qualitative-phenomenological approach, using a descriptive-verificative type. Data were obtained directly from traditional market traders in four markets, namely Pasar Anyar and Banjarsari (urban areas) and Pasar Warungasem and Tersono (rural). The research used purposive sampling, while the validity and credibility of the data used triangulation, emic, and member-checking techniques. Data analysis was conducted inductively with domain analysis. The study developed two research findings. First, the behavior motive of traders is to fulfill material needs, however, their behavior in the market is attached to religious and social values. Second, the reasons and behavior of Muslim traders strengthen the scientific theorization of Islamic Economics, because their behavior that is included in the inductive-empirical-profane realm has conformity with other sources in the theorizing process, namely sources from the deductive-abstract-universal-transcendent domain

If we look at the current state of education, we can see that the reality of our education today is far from hopeful. In addition to the need to expand educational opportunities, in terms of quality, there are still many aspects that must be improved. The problem behind this research is that teachers in carrying out learning have not fully used learning strategies and models tailored to the way students learn. This can cause problems when teachers apply monotonous learning strategies and models and there is no conformity with their students' learning style, until ultimately the learning process is less interested in students' learning, so students have difficulty understanding the materials taught. The problems in this study are: How to apply MURDER learning strategy to improve students' understanding of PAI Material at SMAN Mojoagung Jombang and How the level of mastery of student understanding in PAI material at SMAN Mojoagung Jombang by applying MURDER Learning Strategy. In the learning process researchers use PAI subjects as materials or research objects. The subject of this study was a grade XI student of MIPA 3 SMAN Mojoagung Jombang. The approach used in this study is qualitative approach, namely "research that is intended to uncover symptoms thoroughly and in accordance with the context / what it is through the collection of data from a natural background as a direct source with the key instrument of the study itself. Abstract:
Fuelwood consumption has for a while been assumed to be the ultimate cause of forest degradation, and if not checked could lead to forest disappearance. This is owed to the fact that over 90 per cent of the population of Sub-Saharan Africa is dependent on the resource as a source of energy. Hence, this paper investigates the conformity of the major fuelwood source regions of Northern Nigeria to the Fuelwood Gap Theory. The objectives are; to examine the source regions' vegetation cover and identify the regions' major activities. The methods employed include triangulation of field surveys, Maximum likelihood supervised classification and Post Classification comparison. On average 77 trees were cut down for every 3600m2 of farmland. From the maximum likelihood supervised classification result, six major classes were identified namely: forest, water body, woodland, farmlands, built-up area and bare surface. From the post-classification done, Dukku Forest Reserve lost 132.9km2 of the forest class from 1990 to 2018. For the same period, the forest class in Falgore Game reserve increased by 173.36km2. Lastly, in Rafin Chiyawa Forest Reserve the forest class decreased by 276km2 from 1990 to 2018. The major activities at the sites include agriculture, sand mining, fuelwood collection and rearing of animals. This indicated that the Fuelwood Gap Theory does not hold for the three Forest Reserves. It is recommended that The Fuelwood Gap Theory be modified to look at forest degradation from a fuelwood consumption-agricultural activities nexus.

Abstract:
Relevance of the study. The problem of thematic misbalance in news is indisputable nowadays. Newsmakers are obliged to meet not only standard news criteria, but also a media audience expectations regarding the structuring of its interests. The main objectives of the study were to detect the coherence in agendas of the leading Ukrainian TV channels as well as to trace their conformity with the public agenda. Methodology. Content-analysis method was used to identify those topics in news stories (N=1186) that got the most attention on the studied channels. Calculating the coherence and rank correlation coefficients made it possible to trace the commonality in thematic priorities among channels themselves and between channels and their audience. Data triangulation method made it possible to select the points of public agenda from the survey by the “Democratic Initiatives” Foundation. Results. The studied channels tend to reflect Ukrainian and world events in identical thematic proportions: coherence coefficient of devotion attention to the topics was fixed at a high level: W = 0.87 (p≤0.005). There is a tendency for emphasizing particular range of issues (bureaucrats, corruption, crime, material support) and missing from attention of some others (decentralization, environmental issues). Only a half of the topics (49%) was identified as important to the public’s view, other issues didn’t correspond to public agenda, therefore, the manifestation of the agenda-setting effect was fixed at a weak level (r = 0.2 at p> 0.1). The probable cause of the low correlation between media and public agendas may be the deterioration of living standards in Ukraine due to current state of war conflict. Conclusions. In terms of thematic priorities, leading television channels can be characterized by a high degree of consistency, while the television agenda is only half-compliant with public agenda, so that its conformity with the public agenda was fixed at a weak level.

Abstract:
The increasing prevalence of sexual violence has caused unrest in the community, especially since some perpetrators were still classified as teenagers. This study aimed to understand the profile of teenage perpetrators of sexual violence. The technique for selecting respondents in this study used purposive sampling, involving a total of 2 subjects who were adolescent perpetrators of sexual violence violating Article 81, paragraph 1 of Law No. 35 of 2014. It included 4 informants who were close friends of the respondents. This research used a qualitative case study method, with data collection techniques that included interviews, observations, and documentation. The credibility test in this study employed triangulation. The results of this study indicated that the profile of teenage perpetrators of sexual violence had an educational background of elementary and middle school and came from broken home families with low economic conditions. The broken home condition led to a lack of attention for the child, prompting them to seek outlets outside the home and subsequently get involved in negative peer influences, resulting in conformity and juvenile delinquency. Both teenage perpetrators of sexual violence had habits of watching pornographic videos, alcohol addiction, a tendency to engage in sexual relations, and an inability to control their urges, which was exacerbated by inadequate parental supervision, low morals, and religious internalization, as well as a lack of sex knowledge, thus triggering acts of sexual violence.
