This article selects A-share state-owned listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges from 2007 to 2018 as samples and uses OLS together with intermediary effect tests to study the impact of state-owned enterprise’ (SOEs) policy burdens on credit resources and their allocation efficiency. The research finds that the heavier the policy burden SOEs assume, the more credit resources they obtained. However, they are also more likely to make inefficient investments after obtaining the credit resources, and these credit resources have a negative effect on the value of the SOEs which bea

Financial personal credit is a key resource for families to gain access to resources and assets. Social work practitioners benefit from awareness of the importance of credit, a basic understanding of credit, and familiarity with critical contemporary debates regarding credit. Use of credit-building products and use of alternative and behavioral data for credit scoring are two contemporary debates that frame credit-building work. Although both hold promise as helpful, more evidence of their effectiveness is needed. Practitioners can explore credit issues with clients and familiarize themselves

The study found that in terms of loan volume, the launch of “Green Credit Guidelines” enabled green enterprises to obtain more credit resources than polluters. Existing prescriptive process monitoring techniques assume that the number of interventions that may be triggered is unbounded. For example, in a loan origination process, an intervention may consist of preparing an alternative loan offer to increase the applicant’s chances of taking a loan. Abstract:
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recognizes several groups of farmers who have been historically underserved by USDA and operates several programs and policies targeting these groups. Yet, there is limited information about the current financial health of the farms these producers operate, their credit and agricultural program use, which inhibits the measurement of progress toward more equitable outcomes. This report provides an overview of the financial characteristics of the farms operated by socially disadvantaged (individuals identifying as Black or African American, American Indi

Abstract:
This report addresses the sensitivity and reliability of the sustainability rating systems by comparing each category’s verified scores with its respective submitted scores to evaluate how points are awarded for infrastructure projects, examine which categories present the most challenges for verification, and identify the best category for verification in the sustainability rating system. The authors conducted three analyses using credit score data obtained from fourteen actual civil infrastructure projects certified under Envision. First, the Natural World category had the highest average sc

Abstract:
Credit has been found to be a catalyst for economic growth, as it spurs investment, enhances productivity, allows costs to be spread out over time, improves resource allocation, and enables investors to cope better with macroeconomic volatility. Most studies focus on the relationship between financial development and growth at the country level, while few analyze the relationship at the firm level. Using a panel-shaped firm-level dataset of Colombian firms and employing the methodology developed by Love and Zicchino (2006), this paper examines whether the response of firms to financial and rea

Abstract:
Bridging the skills gap is necessary to increase productivity and equity. In Latin America and the Caribbean, this challenge has manifested in high rates of youth unemployment, informality, and inactivity. Traditional higher education has struggled to respond to this challenge, with rising costs limiting access and poor outcomes forcing students to question the value of a university degree. In this paper, we explore a model for collaboration between higher education providers and employers designed to overcome these challenges. In this co-op model, students earn a bachelors degree in three yea

This report was commissioned by the Natural Disasters Network of the Regional Policy Dialogue. This report constitutes Phase 2 of this project. While the first phase of the study discusses the components of a national system, the second focuses on instruments for financing reconstruction after a disaster. The research compares centralized, government-directed management systems with those that are localized and decentralized, and also analyzes the factors affecting the financial and political stability of alternative approaches. As natural disasters may result in major resource gaps for govern

Abstract:
This working paper presents a comparative analysis of six rural development programmes in Cambodia, jointly studied by the Ministry of Rural Development and the Cambodia Development Resource Institute. The study explores how benefits are distributed, the extent of community ownership, sustainability of interventions, and the influence of organisational structures on implementation. Findings highlight that infrastructure projects—particularly irrigation canals and roads—have had the most immediate economic impact, while wells, schools, and health centres offer long-term social benefits. The short-term Federal funds rate, which impacts the interest rate of other loans, has been increasing since March 2022. The rate can disproportionately affect demand for different types of loans, as well as the choice of the lender for different farm sizes. This report examines farm debt by lenders, as well as other attributes, such as the use of different loan types (real estate and non-real estate) among different types of farm businesses. The authors used data from multiple sources, including the USDA, Economic Research Service's Farm Income and Wealth Statistics and Agricultural Resource

Abstract:
The empirical literature on the debt overhang hypothesis has estimated the relationship between investment and leverage at the firm level, which does not allow to disentangle between a firm’s decision not to invest as it is highly indebted and its ability to obtain the necessary resources. Using annual Spanish credit data from the Central Credit Register and non-financial corporations’ annual accounts from the lntegrated Central Balance Sheet Data Office Survey for the period 2004-2019, we study the impact of corporate debt on non-financial firms’ demand for bank loans, as a proxy for their wi

Abstract:
Means-tested benefits in Britain are built on the principle that individuals with significant financial resources should use those before turning to the state for help. That’s why wealth – as well as income – is assessed when determining eligibility and entitlement levels for means-tested support. But while income means-testing has been widely studied and debated, capital means-testing has received far less attention. As the Government begins a review of Universal Credit, now is the time to assess whether these rules are fit for purpose.
