Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
South Dakota is one of the nation’s most rural and frontier states and has the highest proportion of rural dwellers in the Midwest. Many of the state’s counties suffer from provider shortages, with nurse practitioners increasingly being called upon to fill the role of the primary care provider in clinics and critical access hospitals. However, family nurse practitioner (FNP) education programs are not required to provide the training and skills necessary to meet the unique challenges of rural practice. An Upper Midwest land grant university prepares both masters and doctoral FNP students to fill primary care provider needs in South Dakota and the surrounding region. The purpose and scope of this two-year Advanced Nursing Education Workforce (ANEW) project was to enhance an existing academic/practice partnership to prepare primary care advanced practice registered nursing (APRN) students for practice in rural and/or underserved settings in the state and region. The ANEW project provided FNP students with a longitudinal primary care clinical traineeship experience in rural clinical settings. Trainees benefited from traineeship funds, learning advanced procedures and skill concepts through attendance at a series of educational workshops, and job placement efforts postgraduation. The ANEW project also provided for a comprehensive preceptor development collaborative designed to enhance competence and confidence for independent rural practice and facilitate job placement in rural communities after graduation. This project strengthened the quality of FNP education through an academic/practice partnership which resulted in a symbiotic, synergistic relationship to address rural work force supply and the identification of the knowledge and skills needed for current and future rural healthcare providers. Abstract:

Abstract:
In an effort to cultivate initiative and innovative spirit, a new project was introduced in an undergraduate mechanical engineering laboratory, exemplified here by the Thermal Sciences Laboratory. In this project, each student lab group (typically a group of four) had to suggest improvements to a specific laboratory. There were no other imposed restrictions; improvements could be in any area, such as hardware, software, work procedure, technical presentation, and so on. By having the project run in parallel with the typical labs, several objectives were attained. First, students were exposed to the ideas of continuous innovation and product or process improvement. Second, being a group project, students were exposed to the practical aspects and important advantages of teamwork and brainstorming. Third, due to the latest innovations in technology and education, laboratory-based work is always in need of enhancement; students engaged in performing lab work are well positioned to understand the possible shortcomings, and thus propose improvements; each student should be able to have at least one contribution, ranging from very small to significant. Lastly, some of the best solutions can be followed by senior design projects in which the proposed improvements are further developed and implemented in the laboratory. This paper shows how the project was organized, and also presents results obtained during its first year of implementation.

Abstract:

Abstract:
When procuring the carbon steel line pipe for pipeline project, frequently the purchaser refers to the international standards/specifications such as API SPEC 5L without any particular requirements. Many users thought these standards/specifications already addressed what are needed in their project; but unfortunately it is not completely true. The specification such as API SPEC 5L clearly mentioned in the special notes section that the users should not rely exclusively on the information contained in the specification and it is users’ responsibilities to define the product characteristics which meet the design criteria and suitable for the construction and the operation of the installation (e.g. pipeline). Through this paper, the author tries to give some ideas on particular specification for line pipe.

Abstract:

This study explores the way in which companies and public bodies reflect and argue regarding their own engagement in a cluster project. The aim is to create a focus on clustering and to contribute to the understanding of how cluster involvement affects an organisation. Action net models are employed, unfolding engagement as it is revealed in interviews with representatives of participating private companies and public bodies. The outcome identifies a decoupling in the cluster project producing two clearly divided communities of actors. One comprises public bodies and the facilitating organisation, and one, private companies and R&D projects. A small group of actors harmonise transactions between the two communities. The decoupling of the cluster is described differently with regard to relating to, engaging in and understanding the cluster project. Discussions replace dependency with agency as the mechanism applied in clustering, illustrating that the cluster project is a meeting place of temporary and competing mindsets and practices. Clustering is portrayed as an ambiguous venture continuously challenging and confronting its own engagement and rationality.

Abstract:
Around the world many students or professionals interested in innovation system field dream to have a master, doctor or post doctorate experience in a top university. However, it is noted that are difficulties to identify a top university and propose a good research for a potential supervisor. So, the aim of this article is to propose a methodology to help readers to write a research plan concerning innovation system in order to submit into top universities selection process. In order to do so, a basic conceptual methodology with 8 steps and guidance will be presented by using real case, focused on The Best UK Universities Management Practices to Foster Local Entrepreneurship and Innovation, a basic post doctorate project that the author submmited and was approved in 2018 by the Directors of The Manchester Institute of Innovation Research at Alliance Manchester Business School in the University of Manchester. It was concluded that there is no a universal standard to write a research project concerning to innovation system field or even other field, each university or fund/grand foundation develops its own model. So the conceptual methodology doesn’t want to replace other methodologies, but only to serve as a guide to those candidates that wish to write a proposal and follow the orientations given in this article.

Abstract:
The concept of ecosystem has been largely used to indicate the network of complementary actors, resources and relationships required to succeed in knowledge-intensive entrepreneurial initiatives. The development of ecosystems has been mostly considered as a region and industry-independent issue. This paper discusses the relevance of fostering the creation of more entrepreneur-centric ecosystems (“EGO-Systems”) to support an effective idea-to-venture process. A model is presented which includes five components (entrepreneurial actor, stakeholders, project, roadmap, flows) and it is addressed to support technology entrepreneurship initiatives through an innovative approach which is glocal, project-specific and dynamic.

Abstract:
The paper concerns the documentary project focused on the books Projekt: prawda [Project: Truth] and Nie ma [Not There] by Mariusz Szczygieł. The publications are discussed in terms of the characteristics of a transmedia story in which the original books develop through a narrative connection to a complex of complementary press, internet, stage and audio sources. The author provides an overview of the main components of Szczygieł’s project and an analysis of the interaction programmed between them. She subsequently refers this to the assumptions of what is referred to as transmedia genology in order to show the changes in the poetics of Polish literary reportage under the influence of media digitisation and convergence.

Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to further develop the processual approach in project management theorizing. The article introduces Gadamer’s (2004) play ontology as a novel perspective used to describe microactivities in a project environment. Play ontology refers to the back-and-forth movements of seemingly mundane microactivities as they unfold during a project. The findings of the study suggest that sensitivity to the microactivities allows considering dissonant or indecisive events as vital and constructive project elements. Play ontology offers new ways for conceptualizing a project as a process: as something that emerges through practical activities as a dynamic and complex phenomenon.
