Abstract:
The development of fast evolving telecomunication technologies starting from communications cable to wireless communications. One of the communication cable for data is a technology Asymetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL). ADSL technology is an access technology that enable data communications, voice and video simultaneously at cooper access network media. Speedy service is one example of the use of ADSL technology. Telkom Speedy offers internet access speeds ranging from 384 Kbps for downstream speed and 3 Mbps for upstream speed. Speed of access internet is affected by the quality of the network. Parameters that effect the quality of network are : attenuation, Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), Packet Loss, Bit Error Ratio (BER), jitter and time to life (TTL). In this study analysis of network quality affected by these parameters were measured advance to the quality of the network by using the EMBASSY software, while the perform measurements speedtest by using internal web aplications PT.Telkom,Tbk. Abstract:
The NBN, Australia’s National Broadband Network, is nearing its 2020 completion. The value of the NBN depends on what you compare it to. While Australia’s broadband has significantly improved over the last ten years, it is useful to compare Australia’s NBN with similar activity in the OECD and with Australia’s Top 10 Trading Partners to gain a richer understanding of NBN’s value. Australia’s broadband performance compares poorly with other OECD countries on download speed, especially over 100 Mbps download subscriptions and average download speed. However, imminent release in May 2020 of new NBN gigabit pricing could significantly improve Australia’s world ranking on this average download speed comparison. Recommendations for improving NBN’s value beyond speed are made, including encouraging affordable gigabit NBN services; ongoing NBN upgrades; encouraging NBN use; focussing NBN Corporate Reporting on customer satisfaction and ongoing international comparison.

Full text
Abstract:
Content-Centric Vehicular Networks (CCVNs) are considered as an attractive technology to efficiently distribute and share contents among vehicles in vehicular environments. Due to the large size of contents such as multimedia data, it might be difficult for a vehicle to download the whole of a content within the coverage of its current RoadSide Unit (RSU). To address this issue, many studies exploit mobility-based content precaching in the next RSU on the trajectory of the vehicle. To calculate the amount of the content precaching, they use a constant speed such as the current speed of the vehicle requesting the content or the average speed of vehicles in the next RSU. However, since they do not appropriately reflect the practical speed of the vehicle in the next RSU, they could incorrectly calculate the amount of the content precaching. Therefore, we propose an adaptive content precaching scheme (ACPS) that correctly estimates the predictive speed of a requester vehicle to reflect its practical speed and calculates the amount of the content precaching using its predictive speed. ACPS adjusts the predictive speed to the average speed starting from the current speed with the optimized adaptive value. To compensate for a subtle error between the predictive and the practical speeds, ACPS appropriately adds a guardband area to the precaching amount. Simulation results verify that ACPS achieves better performance than previous schemes with the current or the average speeds in terms of the content download delay and the backhaul traffic overhead.

Abstract:
In the past few years, there have been tremendous interest in the peer-to-peer(P2P) content delivery. This communication paradigm dramatically increases the traffic over inter-ISP links. In particular, BitTorrent(BT), the most popular P2P application, generates a huge amount of traffic on the Internet. BitTorrent’s performance is limited by the fact that typical internet users have much lower upload bandwidths than download bandwidths. This results in the overall average download speed of a BitTorrent-like file download system to be bottle-necked by the much lower upload capacity. We think about to utilize idle users’ spare upload capacity to largely improve the download speed beyond what can be achieved in a conventional BitTorrent network. In this paper, we design a system that is completely compatible with the already existing clients who conform to the BitTorrent protocol, at the same time, we analyze this system’s steady-state performance and present simulation results.

Abstract:
In distributed data storage, a particular dataset can reside at multiple locations in order to get high availability .Thus, the dataset can be downloaded in parallel from multiple nodes.Throughput between server and client changes dynamically, so the downloading speed can vary unpredictably. A dynamic parallel downloading algorithm based on measurement of bandwidth and bandwidth prediction is produced in this paper and server caching is adopted in order to improve downloading speed. The algorithm dynamically adjusts downloading of the last block to make parallel downloading from multiple servers end almost simultaneously. With this approach, the download time is reduced and the robustness of the downloading system is improved. Besides, the algorithm not only avoids complicated server selecting mechanism, but also improves load balance of the servers.

Abstract:
Abstract SeisIO for the Julia language is a new geophysical data framework that combines the intuitive syntax of a high-level language with performance comparable to FORTRAN or C. Benchmark comparisons against recent versions of popular programs for seismic data download and analysis demonstrate significant improvements in file read speed and orders-of-magnitude improvements in memory overhead. Because the Julia language natively supports parallel computing with an intuitive syntax, we benchmark test parallel download and processing of multiweek segments of contiguous data from two sets of 10 broadband seismic stations, and find that SeisIO outperforms two popular Python-based tools for data downloads. The current capabilities of SeisIO include file read support for several geophysical data formats, online data access using a variety of services, and optimized versions of several common data processing operations. Tutorial notebooks and extensive documentation are available to improve the user experience. As an accessible example of performant scientific computing for the next generation of researchers, SeisIO offers ease of use and rapid learning without sacrificing computational efficiency.

Abstract:
Abstract The impact of broader media choice on political behavior is central to the study of political communication. The availability of high-speed Internet, which allows for high bandwidth media on demand, has given consumers virtually unlimited information choices. Most research assumes that the time spent online is fixed; therefore, broader media choice decreases news consumption, political knowledge, and turnout, especially among the politically uninterested. In this article, I explore another possibility: as Internet quality improves, we spend more time online and consume more information, which subsequently increases knowledge and turnout. To test this possibility, I link geocoded Internet download speed data with survey data. A series of studies indicate that higher quality Internet increases political information search, news consumption, and political knowledge, although perhaps not turnout. This work suggests that our assumption of trade-offs between news consumption and entertainment may need reconsideration.

Abstract:
In this paper, we investigate three potential issues of the benchmarking measurement procedures defined in RFC 2544 and also used in RFC 5180 and RFC 8219. One of them is the lack of proper timeout usage. We use a Linux box, which can selectively delay a specified ratio of the packets. Using carefully selected parameters based on our preliminary measurements, we demonstrate that the experienced speed of the HTTP download is much less, than what could have been expected on the basis of the throughput results of the RFC 2544 tests. The other critical issue is the strict, absolutely zero loss criterion. We use a Linux box, which drops a specified small ratio of the packets. Whereas the RFC 2544 throughput results tend to be zero, the experienced speed of the HTTP download is quite good. The third problem is the lack of requirement for statistically relevant number of tests in the RFC 2544 benchmarking procedures. We demonstrate its severity with the latency benchmarking procedure defined in RFC 2544 and kept unchanged in RFC 5180 but redefined in RFC 8219.

Abstract:
The article discusses issues related to the introduction and implementation of 5G technology, as well as the interaction of 5G with the “Smart Home” system. The fifth generation of networks is next to 4G and 3G, and as with the transition from 3G to 4G, we are getting much faster speeds than any of the technologies that came before. Theoretically, the maximum download speed expected from 5G is 10-50 Gbps, but we have not yet reached this level, according to the available data, the peak download speed has already reached 753 Mbps, and in some networks it is claimed to be over 1 Gbps. The next generation of telecommunications networks (fifth generation or 5G) began to hit the market at the end of 2018 and will continue to expand around the world. In addition to increasing speed, this technology is expected to open up a huge 5G IoT (Internet of Things) ecosystem in which networks can serve the communication needs of billions of connected devices with the right trade-off between speed, latency and cost.

Abstract:
Abstract Since Regulation (EU) 2015/2120 of the European Parliament and of the Council came into force, Internet service providers have to fulfill various additional requirements in order to guarantee access to the open internet and provide transparent information to the end-users. Of the utmost importance is to ensure achievable, meaningful and comparable results of the internet quality indicators, particularly upload and download speed values. Regulation (EU) 2015/2120 stipulates that specific speeds should be indicated in the contracts: for fixed internet access service those are maximum, minimum, normally available and advertised speed and for mobile internet access service – estimated maximum and advertised speed. However, there are no common methods put in place to calculate required speed indicators that can lead to a large amount of noncomparable and unreviewable information and create difficulties for internet providers to describe quality indicators. Within the framework of the present research, a mathematical estimation algorithm has been elaborated and applied in order to ensure that required quality parameters are represented objectively and that they are intercomparable among different internet service providers. Unified calculation principle would foster end-user awareness of the meaning of quality indicators and also of the quality of received internet services. It would also facilitate the indication of the required information for internet service providers.

The existence of innovative learning allows dynamism in learning. The presence of technology in the world of education is to help teachers and students to obtain the speed of information, create innovative learning, and facilitate all teaching and learning activities. One result of technology that can be utilized in learning is the presence of a smartphone. On the smartphone, there is a QR Code media that can be downloaded via Google Play. One of the sociological materials, namely social conflict is the choice to be presented with QR Code media. The implementation is that students from one of the groups download the QR Code on their smartphone so that they can scan the assignments given by the teacher in the form of barcodes. Previously the teacher had prepared questions about the subject of social conflict in the form of barcodes. Gurupun also download a barcode generator on a smartphone to be able to write the problem, then the final result in the form of a barcode. The results in the form of barcodes are then printed. Then students do the scanning on the printed barcode and the task or problem to appear will appear. Completion of tasks is done in groups so as to accelerate the process. Learning with QR Code media also includes 21st century educational abilities, including literacy, strengthening character education, and 4C (critical, communicative, collaborative, and creative). By using the QR Code media it turns out to be very effective in fostering students' interest in studying sociology. AbstractThe increasing demand for open source-based application updates is due to the increasing number of users of Linux operating systems, therefore when many Linux users who request an application update cause slow download speed and takes a long time. One solution is to create Mirror Repository Linux in order to facilitate and offer better user connections. However, a time when the number of mirror users will decrease the quality of download until it can down, so it can not serve user renewal request well. This research aims to design and build linux mirror repositories by using Load-balanced Mirror Service System (LMSS) by integrating multiple Mirror Server generated via Manage Large Network (MLN), with load sharing using Linux Virtual Server (LVS) Network Address Translation (NAT). LMSS there is a Director Server as a counter / load manager that passes on the server, which will be forwarded to the destination server. So that the request load from the client can be handled Mirror Server together. Thus, the average download time can be reduced by 17.2% rather than using a single server.

Internet is one of the needs of the community, especially among education and academics such as universities. The high level of internet users is not comparable with the facilities owned by an agency, this makes the internet network manager in Higher Education feel difficult. The cause of the problem that is always a problem is the speed and internet connection is always disjointed, resulting in the slow loading process data while browsing, both at the time of download and at the time of upload. To make internet users in campus area balanced and stable then need bandwidth management based on traffic usage of internet path better. Bandwidth management that can stabilize traffic lanes and equal bandwidth distribution, it can use bandwidth management by Hierarchical Token Bucket (HTB) method. The calculation result in HTB method testing through file download, the average value obtained by TIPHON category standard for throughtput value index is 2 with "Medium" category, delay parameter index is 4 with "Very Good" category, jitter parameter index is 3 with the "Good" category and the packet loss parameter index is 4 with the "Very Good" category.

Here, we first present the truck-drone problem and then invert the network routing problem such that the best case drone speed and range are fitted to the truck for a given scenario based on the network delivery density. By inverting the problem, a business can quickly determine the drone configuration (proper drone range and speed) necessary to optimize the delivery system. Additionally, we provide a more usable version of the truck-drone routing problem as a mixed integer program that can be easily adopted with standardized software used to solve linear programming. Furthermore, our computational metaheuristics and experiments conducted in support of this work are available for download. The metaheuristics used herein surpass current best-in-class algorithms found in literature.

Abstract:
Underwater sound is modelled and mapped for purposes ranging from localised environmental impact assessments of individual offshore developments to large-scale marine spatial planning. As the area to be modelled increases, so does the computational effort. The effort is more easily handled if broken down into smaller regions that could be modelled separately and their results merged. The goal of our study was to split the Australian maritime Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) into a set of smaller acoustic zones, whereby each zone is characterised by a set of environmental parameters that vary more across than within zones. The environmental parameters chosen reflect the hydroacoustic (e.g., water column sound speed profile), geoacoustic (e.g., sound speeds and absorption coefficients for compressional and shear waves), and bathymetric (i.e., seafloor depth and slope) parameters that directly affect the way in which sound propagates. We present a multivariate Gaussian mixture model, modified to handle input vectors (sound speed profiles) of variable length, and fitted by an expectation-maximization algorithm, that clustered the environmental parameters into 20 maritime acoustic zones corresponding to 28 geographically separated locations. Mean zone parameters and shape files are available for download. The zones may be used to map, for example, underwater sound from commercial shipping within the entire Australian EEZ.

Satellite imagery is often used to study and monitor Earth surface changes. The open availability and extensive temporal coverage of Landsat imagery has enabled changes in temperature, wind, vegetation and ice melting speed for a period of up to 46 years. Yet, the use of satellite imagery to study cities has remained underutilised, partly due to the lack of a methodological approach to capture features and changes in the urban environment. This notebook offers a framework based on Python tools to demonstrate how to batch-download high-resolution satellite imagery; and enable the extraction, analysis and visualisation of features of the built environment to capture long-term urban changes.

Abstract:
Dedicated short-range communication (DSRC) and 4G-LTE are two widely used candidate schemes for Connected Vehicle (CV) applications. It is thus of great necessity to compare these two most viable communication standards and clarify which one can meet the requirements of most V2X scenarios with respect to road safety, traffic efficiency, and infotainment. To the best of our knowledge, almost all the existing studies on comparing the feasibility of DRSC or LTE in V2X applications use software-based simulations, which may not represent realistic constraints. In this paper, a Connected Vehicle test-bed is established, which integrates the DSRC roadside units, 4G-LTE cellular communication stations, and vehicular on-board terminals. Three Connected Vehicle application scenarios are set as Collision Avoidance, Traffic Text Message Broadcast, and Multimedia File Download, respectively. A software tool is developed to record GPS positions/velocities of the test vehicles and record certain wireless communication performance indicators. The experiments have been carried out under different conditions. According to our results, 4G-LTE is more preferred for the nonsafety applications, such as traffic information transmission, file download, or Internet accessing, which does not necessarily require the high-speed real-time communication, while for the safety applications, such as Collision Avoidance or electronic traffic sign, DSRC outperforms the 4G-LTE.

In recent years being able to have access to the internet has become a tool not only to be able to communicate in the distance but it is a great tool to be able to feed knowledge, it is because of them that children have a great educational utility and after this pandemic in Peru it was necessary to close schools, to be able to give remote classes or virtual classes. To solve the problem, we propose to be able to design a network of radio links whereby means of a base station of emission and reception, with an antenna of sectorial type and directional antennas to be able to realize a Point – Multipoint link which will be able to manage the quality of signal by means of a routing with functions of control of speeds for each connection of each home. It was the result that the connections of the radio link at an average distance from the coverage that the network had the signal was better and that the connections that were very far or close to the coverage area had complications, but despite this the connections were sufficient to be able to maintain the virtual classes that is what was planned. It is recommended that for a better connection and complete coverage it would be to reinforce the broadcast base with more sectoral antennas in the network. Such a motion has been proposed, in order to increase the road safety. The new class of tachographs, ie. the smart tachographs are supposed to be fitted with a GNSS device ensuring a constant monitoring of the vehicle’s speed and other parameters but also a transmitter which should allow to send data in real time without the necessity to download the data manually. However, such a vast process will generate severe costs for the Member States’ administration but also for private companies which will need to handle the cost of fitting the device in their vehicles. The purpose of the article is to estimate this cost.

Sequence data repositories archive and disseminate fastq data in compressed format. In spite of having relatively lower compression efficiency, data repositories continue to prefer GZIP over available specialized fastq compression algorithms. Ease of deployment, high processing speed and portability are the reasons for this preference. This study presents FQC, a fastq compression method that, in addition to providing significantly higher compression gains over GZIP, incorporates features necessary for universal adoption by data repositories/end-users. This study also proposes a novel archival strategy which allows sequence repositories to simultaneously store and disseminate lossless as well as (multiple) lossy variants of fastq files, without necessitating any additional storage requirements. In consideration of the current MP2P network disturbance from frequent location changes of the mobile nodes, the limited computing power and storage capacity, this paper proposes a flexible strategy of partition management by assigning different functions to nodes according to some standards, regarding a subnet as a unit and using super-nodes to manage subnets. In order to speed up the data transmission and replacement efficiency, data is processed with partial network coding technology. Additionally, a trans-subnet query algorithm is proposed to link subnets, conduct information exchange between subnets and resource location. Results of the experiment manifested that this strategy can efficiently increase the resource download success rate and hit rate, reduce the average delay, improve the content distribution efficiency of MP2P networks, and simultaneously enhance system robustness.

Abstract:
This paper explores the results of a survey that was conducted with 277 pre-service teachers studying at two regional university campuses in Victoria, Australia in 2014. Data showed that participants expressed high level of satisfaction with the quality of their undergraduate courses in education including the flexible teaching and learning experiences. However, many reported experiencing frustration with accessing cloud-based learning materials and support services, including communication with lecturers. Challenges in accessing learning materials were mainly attributed to slow internet speed which increased the time taken to download resources. Access to support services and lecturers was made difficult because many key staff were located at the larger, urban campuses, thus sometimes causing delay in communication with them. This study recommends that university faculties review the accessibility of services, facilities and resources for rural and remote students. Recommendations include greater attention to the presentation of online learning materials to ensure accessibility for all students, regardless of internet speed and location. Moreover, findings showed that by closer examination of the accessibility of services to reflect the reality and complexity of students’ lives, universities could increase equity for rural and remote students.

Abstract:
This paper proposes a framework for the wireless sensor data acquisition using a team of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Scattered over a terrain, the sensors detect information about their surroundings and can transmit this information wirelessly over a short range. With no access to a terrestrial or satellite communication network to relay the information to, UAVs are used to visit the sensors and collect the data. The proposed framework uses an iterative k-means algorithm to group the sensors into clusters and to identify Download Points (DPs) where the UAVs hover to download the data. A Single-Source–Shortest-Path algorithm (SSSP) is used to compute optimal paths between every pair of DPs with a constraint to reduce the number of turns. A genetic algorithm supplemented with a 2-opt local search heuristic is used to solve the multi-travelling salesperson problem and to find optimized tours for each UAVs. Finally, a collision avoidance strategy is implemented to guarantee collision-free trajectories. Concerned with the overall runtime of the framework, the SSSP algorithm is implemented in parallel on a graphics processing unit. The proposed framework is tested in simulation using three UAVs and realistic 3D maps with up to 100 sensors and runs in just 20.7 s, a 33.3× speed-up compared to a sequential execution on CPU. The results show that the proposed method is efficient at calculating optimized trajectories for the UAVs for data acquisition from wireless sensors. The results also show the significant advantage of the parallel implementation on GPU.

LTE is designed to meet the needs for Quality of Service (QoS), i.e. the ability to download up to 300 Mbps and upload up to 75 Mbps. This study investigated the impacts of user mobility on the LTE network for video streaming services. The approach employed in this study included multi-user with Distributed AntennaSystem (DAS) and various variations of user mobility speed. Observations were made on the condition of the user moving from one cell to another so that the handover occurred. The throughput value will increase by 33% and 47% when the user’s distances are respectively 1250 m and 2000 m from eNode B. In addition, the delay value will reduce by 66.32% an 67.58% when the user’s distances are respectively 1250 m and 2000 m from eNode B. Moreover, the PDR value will increase by 48.74% and 55.45% when the user’s distances are respectively 1250 m and 2000 m from eNode B. The use of a distributed antenna system (DAS) model on LTE network has resulted in improved quality of performance when the user streams a video.

Abstract:
The development of high speed mobile networks and the widespread use of smartphones have enabled users to easily obtain large data volumes via the Internet. This causes a heavy consumption of network resources, a burden on the available bandwidth. To solve such problems, a data offloading method with a wireless LAN access point has been used to distribute traffic from mobile to fixed networks. However, the method using wireless LAN access points can only change the communication paths but cannot reduce the overall traffic. This paper proposes a local cooperative data offloading system (LoCO) that reduces the overall traffic by sharing data, with direct communication between neighbors based on their location-related information. Moreover, the authors implemented the LoCO system on Android smartphones and clarified its performance in comparison with a traditional client/server system through experiments to download data in a real-world environment.

NemFi is a record-and-replay emulator that captures traces representing real WiFi conditions, and later replay these traces to reproduce the same conditions. In this paper, we demonstrate that the state-of-the-art emulator that was developed for cellular links cannot emulate WiFi conditions. We identify the three key differences that must be addressed to enable accurate WiFi record-and-replay: WiFi packet losses, medium-access control, and frame aggregation. We then extend the existing cellular network emulator to support WiFi record-and-replay. We evaluate the performance of NemFi via repeated experimentation across different WiFi conditions and for three different types of applications: speed-test, file download, and video streaming. Our experimental results demonstrate that average application performance over NemFi and real WiFi links is similar (with less than 3 percent difference).

Abstract:
The development of the digital world era continues to grow and is increasing. Many industries have switched to digital technology such as photos, videos, music, and so on. Of course, this change brings many benefits in terms of speed and data access. Ease of accessing the internet also has a major impact on human life. The ease of accessing documents online is very helpful if you want to find and download pdf documents online. With this convenience, many of the same pdf files are downloaded more than once. This will definitely burden the storage space. To distinguish one pdf file from another, it is done by viewing and reading the contents of the pdf file. This is very inconvenient and time consuming. To overcome this, we need a practical way that can be used to search for the same pdf document so that it can delete duplicate pdf files. One way that can be used to overcome this problem is to use a hash function. The hash function in cryptography is a very important tool in various cryptographic applications, for example in digital signature formation, authentication, and so on. Since the discovery of the MD4 hash algorithm by Ron Rivest, many other hash algorithms have been developed based on the principles of this algorithm. One of them is the RIPEMD-128 algorithm. RIPEMD-128 is an iterative hash function that operates on 32-bit words. By using a hash function, the identity of the pdf file can be generated. If the pdf files are the same it will produce the same hash value as well. This will make it easier to group the same pdf documents so that it will speed up the process of deleting the same pdf files. Abstract:
AbstractWith the rapid growth of the smartphone and tablet market, mobile application (App) industry that provides a variety of functional devices is also growing at a striking speed. Product life cycle (PLC) theory, which has a long history, has been applied to a great number of industries and products and is widely used in the management domain. In this study, we apply classical PLC theory to mobile Apps on Apple smartphone and tablet devices (Apple App Store). Instead of trying to utilize often-unavailable sales or download volume data, we use open-access App daily download rankings as an indicator to characterize the normalized dynamic market popularity of an App. We also use this ranking information to generate an App life cycle model. By using this model, we compare paid and free Apps from 20 different categories. Our results show that Apps across various categories have different kinds of life cycles and exhibit various unique and unpredictable characteristics. Furthermore, as large-scale heterogeneous data (e.g., user App ratings, App hardware/software requirements, or App version updates) become available and are attached to each target App, an important contribution of this paper is that we perform in-depth studies to explore how such data correlate and affect the App life cycle. Using different regression techniques (i.e., logistic, ordinary least squares, and partial least squares), we built different models to investigate these relationships. The results indicate that some explicit and latent independent variables are more important than others for the characterization of App life cycle. In addition, we find that life cycle analysis for different App categories requires different tailored regression models, confirming that inner-category App life cycles are more predictable and comparable than App life cycles across different categories.

Abstract:
This article describes the Blackbird unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) Dataset, a large-scale suite of sensor data and corresponding ground truth from a custom-built quadrotor platform equipped with an inertial measurement unit (IMU), rotor tachometers, and virtual color, grayscale, and depth cameras. Motivated by the increasing demand for agile, autonomous operation of aerial vehicles, this dataset is designed to facilitate the development and evaluation of high-performance UAV perception algorithms. The dataset contains over 10 hours of data from our quadrotor tracing 18 different trajectories at varying maximum speeds (0.5 to 13.8 ms-1) through 5 different visual environments for a total of 176 unique flights. For each flight, we provide 120 Hz grayscale, 60 Hz RGB-D, and 60 Hz semantically segmented images from forward stereo and downward-facing photorealistic virtual cameras in addition to 100 Hz IMU, ~190 Hz motor speed sensors, and 360 Hz millimeter-accurate motion capture ground truth. The Blackbird UAV dataset is therefore well suited to the development of algorithms for visual inertial navigation, 3D reconstruction, and depth estimation. As a benchmark for future algorithms, the performance of two state-of-the-art visual odometry algorithms are reported and scripts for comparing against the benchmarks are included with the dataset. The dataset is available for download at http://blackbird-dataset.mit.edu/ .
