Fathi and Pageault have recently shown a connection between Auslander’s generalized recurrent set$\text{GR}(f)$and Easton’s strong chain recurrent set. We study$\text{GR}(f)$by examining that connection in more detail, as well as connections with other notions of recurrence. We give equivalent definitions that do not refer to a metric. In particular, we show that$\text{GR}(f^{k})=\text{GR}(f)$for any$k>0$, and give a characterization of maps for which the generalized recurrent set is different from the ordinary chain recurrent set.

The Levi-Civita connection and the k-th generalized Tanaka-Webster connection are defined on a real hypersurface M in a non-flat complex space form. For any nonnull constant k and any vector field X tangent to M the k-th Cho operator F X ( k ) is defined and is related to both connections. If X belongs to the maximal holomorphic distribution D on M, the corresponding operator does not depend on k and is denoted by F X and called Cho operator. In this paper, real hypersurfaces in non-flat space forms such that F X S = S F X , where S denotes the Ricci tensor of M and a further condition is sati

For a Riemannian foliation (M,F) with Ehresmann connection it is proved that the closure of any leaf forms a minimal set, the family of all such closures forms a singular Riemannian foliation (M,F¯¯¯¯). One of the reasons for this is its aim to ground all scientific knowledge in that which is “present and real”. This chapter takes a look at Rafael F. Scharf's collection of writings. The writings concern the author's own relationship to Poland, various aspects of the history of the Holocaust, and, the subject closest to the author's experience, Kraków. The chapter shows how this book can reveal much about the history of Polish–Jewish relations. Here, the value of Scharf's writings lies in their personal nature. A native of Kraków, Scharf describes Jewish life in the city from the perspective of a middle-class Jew who grew up in the heart of Kazimierz. In recalling the details of his childhood and young adulthood, Scharf emphasizes his connection to the Polish language, literature, and landscape.

After fatigue, self-loosening is the most frequent cause of failure of dynamically loaded bolted connections. Bolted connections experience self-loosening due to relative motion between the thread flanks and between other contact surfaces of the clamped or clamping elements. If the relative motions are eliminated, then no dynamic self-loosening can occur.
