The present programme of research discusses a series of studies which explore the relationships between individual characteristics and well being. The FIT theory (e.g. Fletcher & Stead, 2000a) was used as a framework. Transcription factor binding sites (TFBS) are usually, but not always, conserved during evolution. To better understand TFBS evolution I examined the cases of non-conservation for 1120 known human and mouse TFBS in the genomes of 11 mammals and the reconstructed genomes of their ancestors.
