Abstract:
This narrative aims to explore the meaning and lived experiences of marriage that a unique immigrant population—“foreign brides” in Taiwan—possesses. This convergence narrative illustrates the dynamics and complexity of mail-order marriage and women's perseverance in a cross-cultural context. The relationship between marriage, race, and migration is analyzed. This narrative is comprised of and intertwined by two story lines. One is the story of two “foreign brides” in Taiwan. The other is my story about my cross-cultural relationship. All the dialogues are generated by 25 interviews of “foreign brides” in Taiwan and my personal experience.

Abstract:
Multiculturalism is a universal trend in most countries that have an influx of migrants. However, it is a recent phenomenon in South Korea which prides itself of having a homogenous society. This article examines multicultural marriages and discusses the emergence of female marriage migrants who are in part responsible in creating a multicultural Korea. This research uses a qualitative approach where existing literature, databases and other previously published materials have been used to gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between foreign brides who have come into Korea through multicultural marriages which in the long run has contributed greatly to forming a multicultural Korean society. Despite several challenges, findings suggests that female marriage migrants are now acknowledged as one of the catalysts in the transformation of Korean society from a homogenous one to that of a multicultural entity. This is seen in the various laws adopted to integrate foreign brides and their offspring. However, though this is happening, the process of integration between foreign brides and the Korea pubic in general has a long way to go.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT: Postcolonial scholars have observed how various aspects of the Four Branches of the Mabinogi reflect anxieties of the Norman Invasion of Wales. While these readings often center on examining the Norman influence as an outside threat, this article examines the First Branch of the Mabinogi as emphasizing the importance of wise leadership within Wales, specifically in terms of inter-Welsh interactions. I do this through the exploration of Rhiannon as a fairy mistress, a motif which proliferates the chivalric romance. While scholarship often interprets the fairy mistress as ‘other’ or ‘foreign’, I argue that Rhiannon presents an important departure. Rather than being explicitly a foreign entity, she is, instead, Welsh. Pwyll’s treatment of her, then, makes the First Branch a story about inter-Welsh relationships and cautions that tending to women’s needs and voices should be a priority to Welsh leaders, rather than something which is designated as a secondary concern.

Abstract:
The phenomenon of Chinese mail-order brides in Indonesia gained prominence in the 1980s and resurfaced in 2017, particularly affecting regions like West Kalimantan. This research aims to examine Indonesia’s diplomatic strategies in addressing Chinese mail-order brides as human trafficking cases (TPPO) from 2018 to 2021, focusing on engagements between the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Government. Theoretical frameworks of diplomacy, humanitarian diplomacy, and human security provide the analytical lens for this study. The study employs a qualitative research method, leveraging a comprehensive literature review of official documents, academic sources, and credible news articles. The research findings reveal that poverty, limited education, parental influence, and scarce employment opportunities contribute to the prevalence of mail-order brides. Additionally, cultural perceptions and aspirations for an improved life exacerbate the issue. The Indonesian government, through bilateral diplomacy, has made significant efforts, such as negotiating victim repatriation and enhancing law enforcement collaborations with China. Notable successes include framing mail-order bride cases as TPPO, which facilitated victim repatriation. NGOs like the Indonesian Migrant Workers' Union (SBMI) have played essential roles in advocacy and preventive measures. Despite these efforts, challenges remain, such as differing cultural perspectives between Indonesia and China and regulatory inconsistencies. Governmental complicity and inadequate documentation have further complicated diplomatic resolutions. The research highlights that Indonesia’s strategic reframing of mail-order bride cases as human trafficking crimes enhances international cooperation and offers policy innovation for addressing human rights violations.

Abstract:
In the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries, the successful reunification of Russia’s appanage principalities drained the pool of Orthodox princesses available to marry the grand princes (later tsars) of Muscovy. Foreign rulers often resisted Russian demands that brides convert to Orthodoxy, and the fiscal and cultural costs of finding wives abroad seemed to outweigh the benefits. But choosing a bride from one of the ruling boyar clans threatened to destabilize the balance of power at court. The Muscovite government’s solution to the problem of finding suitable wives for its rulers without undermining the existing political order was the bride-show. Martin argues that from 1505, when Grand Prince Vasilii III (1505–33) first sent messengers throughout his realm demanding that the middle service gentry produce its unmarried daughters for inspection, until Peter the Great (1682/89–1725) abandoned the practice in 1698 every Muscovite ruler and most male members of the dynasty in power chose their wives through a bride-show. In this way, the elite avoided having to deal with foreign cultural influences and largely prevented political conflict within the boyar clans, both outcomes considered potentially harmful to the state.

Abstract:
This study examines whether information asymmetry during the matchmaking period affects women’s choice of spouse. The 2010 amendment of the Marriage Brokers Business Management Act requiring international marriage brokers in South Korea to provide more information about their South Korean male clients to prospective foreign brides in brokered marriages provided an opportunity to probe this question. Using the National Survey of Multicultural Families 2015, we employed the difference-in-differences method. Following the 2010 amendment, foreign women in brokered marriages were more likely to marry a more-educated Korean man and were less likely to work in low-skilled jobs after marriage.

ABSTRACT: This paper deals with the issue of why young Western women from stable families and egalitarian, female-friendly states, are choosing to leave their family and country behind to join IS’ misogynistic society. Since the outbreak of the civil war in Syria in early 2011, and increasingly with the growth of IS in the region, European men and women have travelled to the area to join the fighting. According to the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation and Political Violence almost 4000 Western European citizens had joined Sunni militant organizations fighting in Syria or Iraq as of January 2015. A surprisingly large number of these migrants are women. This paper examines the reasons for how these women get radicalized and why. Whether warrior or victim, or neither, the women who migrate to the Islamic State are searching for a meaning in their lives that did not exist in the Western world.

Abstract:
In 2010, there were over 400,000 immigrants residing in Taiwan, many of them women from Mainland China and Southeast Asia who had married a Taiwanese citizen. As a result, there has been a population boom in children of mixed nationality, and this has changed the cultural structure of Taiwan. Both non-Taiwanese residents and the children of immigrants face culture estrangement and alienation. The dominant Taiwanese ethnic group tries to impose their rules on other ethnic groups, which may result in an abuse of power that may then cause enduring pain to minority groups. This study considers the importance of culture in the lives of children of foreign brides. These children have to face individual, family, school, and societal factors that can impede their education and sense of self. In order to understand the challenges that these children may experience, this study illustrates risk factors for these children, and considers how educators can help alleviate ethnic tension and provide ethnic-related interventions to children from diverse populations.

Abstract:
Among the chief problems in determining the boundaries of the early modern period in Russian history is die reign and reforms of Peter I the Great. In this article, Russell E. Martin situates Peter's reign within the context of dynastic marriage politics from the sixteenth through the eighteenth centuries. He argues that the centuries from roughly 1500 to 1800 constitute a single, coherent period. Court politics were dominated by concerns of kinship and marriage: in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, by the search for a domesdc bride for the Russian rulers through bride shows; then, in the eighteenth century, by the gradual transformation of court politics away from domestic brides and toward a more traditional use of dynastic marriage as a tool in foreign policy. The early modern period ends, Martin argues, only with the promulgation of a new law of succession by Paul I (as modified by Alexander I). The so-called Petrine divide, then, is elided in a periodization of Russian history that very much mirrors the boundaries that are conventional in the west.

Abstract:
This article examines the extent to which the Indonesian government has made efforts in handling the Mail-Order Brides (MOB) Indonesia–China as part of trafficking in persons. Indonesia has been a country of origin, transit, and destination for victims over the years, thereby making this topic crucial. This study adopted a qualitative descriptive analysis, whilst data collection techniques were library research and online research. This article found that the Indonesian government had been effective in solving the MOB cases. The efforts, undertaken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Directorate General of Immigration, and the Chinese Embassy in Jakarta, had contributed significantly to the case study–where nearly 80% of the total cases reported between 2015 and 2019 were successfully resolved. In so doing, the Indonesian government also faced challenges; one of which was the lack of cooperation from the Chinese government– differences in views in the MOB cases. The results of this study include recommendations for public awareness campaigns for MOB, integration of transnational crime subjects in the education curriculum, and so forth. We explored the impact of social support on revisiting intention of people who were from minority groups, an issue that has largely been ignored in the existing literature. Our sample included 417 people with physical disabilities, or with a low income, foreign brides, or people who were widowed. Structural equation modeling was used to test the hypotheses. The results indicated there was a significant negative effect of leisure constraints on revisiting intention for those without social support. Thus, social support mitigates the influence of leisure constraints on revisiting intention.

Abstract:
This paper examines the negative impacts of early marriage and pregnancy on both the individual and the community. The practice of early marriage, defined as marriage before the age of 18, is prevalent in many cultures and is often driven by economic, social, and cultural factors. The consequences of early marriage and pregnancy are numerous and multifaceted. The physical health of young mothers is often compromised due to the high risk of complications during pregnancy and childbirth. In addition, child brides are more likely to experience sexual and physical violence and suffer from mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. The effects of early marriage and pregnancy also extend beyond the individual and have significant social and economic implications.

Abstract:
Human trafficking has been an unsolved crime from ancient times until now. Human trafficking is a transnational and organized crime that is very detrimental to the international community because it takes away the human rights of its victims. With the development of the times and technology, the forms, modes and purposes of humantrafficking also develop. Order brides are a form of development of human trafficking using marriage. In an effort to eradicate human trafficking, Indonesia has ratified the Palermo Protocol in 2000. The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of the 2000 Palermo Protocol in dealing with wedding orders for 2019in Indonesia. The type of research used is normative juridical with data collection techniques using library research techniques. While the analytical method used is descriptive. The results of the study indicate that the Government of Indonesia, in this case the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, has implemented the 2000 Palermo Protocol in Law no. 21 of 2007 concerning PTPPOby conducting bilateral cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People'sRepublic of China and the Chinese Embassy to the Republic of Indonesia in protecting Indonesian women who are victims of ordered brides, taking action against agents in China and taking preventive measures. Full text
Abstract:
The article focuses on the rapprochement between Byzantium and the Mongols from the 1250s which resulted in marriage alliances between Mongol Khans and Byzantine despoinas (princesses). The key issue is a clash of two different approaches. The Byzantine one was focused on the exclusive status of Byzantium as Christian Roman Empire, whose status was unrivalled and whose sovereigns seldom allowed marriages of Byzantine ladies to the foreign rulers, especially if the latter were heathen or Muslim. The Mongol view considered the Mongol state as the only one destined to dominate over other states. Here, the marriages between Mongol rulers and foreign brides have been suggested as one of vital elements of such domination. The compromise between two views seemed to have been made by the Byzantines: while the Byzantine church law refused to recognize interconfessional marriages, the Byzantines began to see these marriages as a Christian mission of sorts as the Greek brides and wives could have served as agents for spreading Greek Orthodox Christianity. Given the fact that some Khans had already converted to Islam prior to the marriage, these were also the first marriages between the Byzantine Imperial dynasty of the Palaiologoi and the Muslim rulers. It seems that special tolerance of the Mongols towards Christianity (even if they were Muslims) played a key role in the change of the principles of the Byzantine marriage policy: it henceforth became possible for the Emperor’s illegitimate daughter to marry a Muslim ruler. This policy affected the marriages of the later period of the fourteenth and fifteenth century between the imperial dynasties of the Palaiologoi and Grand Komnenoi, on the one hand, and the neighboring Turkish rulers, including the Ottomans, on the other.

Abstract:
This study examines the recent phenomenon of “cross-border marriage” in South Korea: foreign brides migrating into Korea to get married to Korean bachelors. Using data from the National Survey of Multicultural Families 2009, one of the biggest data sets on marriage migrants, we analyze how the difference in migrants’ initial methods of entry affects the level of their life satisfaction. The findings show greater life satisfaction for those who used personal social networks, when compared with those who used commercial brokers as a method of entry. The analyses also reveal the importance of current social networks and their role in moderating the effect of the initial methods of entry after a prolonged period of residence.

Abstract:
The surnames of Czech females are traditionally created from the masculine form by adding the suffix -ová (Novák – Nováková). This form was established by law in 1949 as the standard. Today’s law changes permit that females may choose the masculine form of their husband’s surname (Novák) or use the male surname of their husband along with their original feminine form as well (Dvořák Nováková). This development deserves comparison with the historical situation. In this article, we analyze the female surnames entered in the Catholic marriage registers in several towns and villages, especially in the second half of the 19th and the first half of the 20th century. There are several possibilities how the scribes wrote down the bride’s name. They identified her by the first name and the relation to her father or former husband (Anna, daughter of…), used the masculine form of the surname, or created feminine forms by using the suffixes -ova (identical with the possessive suffix) or -ová. Even though the recording of female surnames was influenced by the customs of the individual scribes, the rise of using forms with the suffix -ová as an independent feminine surname in the 20th century is evident. The masculine forms of the surnames of brides are relatively infrequent in historical documents, not specific to any particular time period, and dependent on the scribe customs (they were used especially when the bride was of foreign, typically German, origin). The use of two family names (e.g., Dvořák Nováková) was not documented in the marriage registers. Today’s law changes are in opposition to the historical development and do not respect the use of female surnames in daily Czech communication. Masculine forms only make sense for females who are often abroad, and/or have a husband of foreign origin, etc. The future will show whether Czech females will prefer traditional surnames with the suffix -ová or choose the masculine form of the surname for documents. It is probable that the form with -ová will be used in common Czech communication regardless of the form indicated in the documents.

Abstract:
Songket is one of the valuable traditional Malay weaving fabrics which is often used as a Malay wedding dress. The term Songket is derived from a Malay word “menyungkit” (leverage) using “gimpal” thread (gold and silver). However, nowadays its usage is beginning to decline due to the presence of foreign fabrics such as Thai silk and the fact is that many Malay brides and grooms are beginning to favor foreign fabrics to dress up at their wedding. This situation eventually would disrupt the production of Songket and affect its reputation as the popular traditional fabric of Malay weddings. Hence, this research aims to examine the aesthetic of Songket fabric in Malay traditional wedding. Researchers used these six principles of the beauty in Malay art by Zakaria Ali in order to interpret the aesthetic of songket in Malay wedding attire that consists of finesse, functional, symbolism, unity, meaningful and contrasting. In conclusion, it could be stated that the aesthetic aspect Songket is very important in Malay society regardless of social status or wealth. Hence, as a national heritage, Songket has to be preserved and revived to its former glory so that it will not be forgotten by future generations.

Abstract:
This article research subject are features of landscape descriptions in the novel by Honore de Balzac «Letters of Two Brides». The novel was written in 1841 and is included in «Scenes of private life», which the writer dedicates it to Georges Sand. The author of the article bases the analysis of Balzac’s book on the landscape descriptions given by L. N. Dmitriyevskaya. She defines the landscape as an artistic image of nature, a «portrait» of the soul and person’s worldview and an image of the world. The landscapes in the novel are multifaceted and include a love motive related to the development of one of the main themes of «Scenes from private life» - topics of women’s happiness. It is manifested in two variations: amour spiritualis (spiritual love) and amour infernalis (love to oneself, love-passion). In the course of work we use historical-literary method, cultural-historical method and method of motive analysis. The relevance and novelty of research is related to the significance of the creativity of Honoré de Balzac in the history of world literature, the constant interest of foreign and domestic scientists to problems of writer’s style and attention to modern literacy study to the ethics of descriptions as an important element of the artistic world and low knowledge of the characteristics of the Balzac’s narrative technique. Landscape descriptions in the novel by Honore de Balzac «Letters of Two Brides» are considered as an important compositional element in the narrative structure. They serve as an exposure to each new stage of heroines’ life. Nature descriptions become «portraits of soul», reflecting the difference in the natures of girls. And yet the landscape becomes one of the main image system components, forming the symbolic space of heaven or hell.

Abstract:
AbstractAs of the beginning of 2016, out of 100,000 “Islamic State in Iraq and Syria” (ISIS) fighters in Iraq, Syria, Sinai and North African Countries, one-third were foreign-born fighters from European and Asian countries (AFP Tunis 2013). Although most of the men came alone, seduced by advertised sexual adventures, the official guiding rule by the ISIS Caliphate was to establish true marriage with real Muslim brides (Milton and Dodwell 2018). The Western women were then addressed to come and help in administrative, teaching and nursing tasks while also instituting families with jihadi fighters. Estimations are that at least 450–500 Western women of different ages left their countries to join ISIS mujahedin. For these mobilization efforts, social networks were utilized to serve as means of communication, coordination and conversion of women’s minds. The skilled usage of different levels of social networking tools, combined with precise audience targeting, turned the efforts into powerful recruiting instruments for mobilization of women into terrorist activities. The ISIS strategy included careful selection of different scenarios and storyboards for different target audiences, thus maximizing the impact of the exposure to the message and mobilization.

Abstract:
Indonesia is a country that has a very diverse diversity, from every corner of the region has its own culture and local wisdom. Bridal silat is one of the local wisdoms that can be found in every traditional Malay wedding event, in which the silat performance is performed when before the two brides and grooms ascend to their thrones, this silat takes place with the accompaniment of Malay compang or other traditional music. The purpose of this study is to find out the values contained in bridal silat and how to preserve them, using library research methods or literature studies in collecting data and information. The era of globalization has had a significant impact on the culture of the community and the young generation of this nation. Most are more proud of the presence and habits of foreign cultures than local culture, so it is necessary to make efforts to preserve it by means of culture experience and culture knowledge. With these efforts, it is hoped that the bridal martial arts will continue to develop and maintain its existence through several series of festivals, weddings and government events

Abstract:
Relations between u.s. servicemen and Vietnamese civilians represent one of the most persistent cultural legacies of the Vietnam War. From brides to bar girls to crass film tropes of Vietnamese sex workers, women occupy a prominent place in the war’s memory. At the time, however, the media and u.s. government officials portrayed sex as a subtext to the larger conflict. From the outset, officials on all sides of the negotiating table struggled over how to contain the diverse impacts of the relationships on health, security, and morale. Prostitution played a central role in the debate. u.s. officials attempted to discount the significance of their impact on foreign relations and warfare, but social relationships indeed had an impact on how Americans engaged Saigon’s leaders. While scholars typically have shown the United States as the dominant power in Vietnam, sexuality became a somewhat level playing field where both governments feared the repercussions of limiting intercultural intimacy as much as they feared letting it continue. At first, the Saigon government enacted strict laws and attempted to prosecute violators, but never committed to eradication. By the war’s height u.s. officials adopted rigorous new programs which led to an Americanization of sexual and social policies regarding prostitution in Vietnam.

Mixed marriage in Law No. 1 of 1974 (UUP) is a marriage between two people who in Indonesia are subject to different laws, because of differences in nationality and one of the parties is a foreign citizen and one of the parties is an Indonesian citizen (Article 57 UUP). Based on this statement, according to the UUP, mixed marriage regulations prohibit brides and grooms from different religions. The prohibition is mentioned indirectly in Article 2 paragraph (1) of the UUP, "marriage is valid if it is carried out according to the laws of each religion". If a husband and wife buy a piece of land after their marriage, it will automatically become the property of both of them (husband and wife), based on the provisions of Article 35 paragraph (1) of the UUP. However, if at the time or before the marriage takes place, they make a marriage agreement with separate assets, their ownership becomes each of the husband/wife (Article 29 yo 35 UUP). In mixed marriages referred to in Article 57 UUP, namely a marriage between two people who in Indonesia are subject to different laws, because of differences in nationality and one party is a foreign citizen and one party is an Indonesian citizen, it does not change their citizenship status, still for Indonesian citizens in this case their rights are limited and they are not even given the opportunity to become subjects of HM, HGU and HGB, if at the time or before their marriage they do not make a marriage agreement with separate assets. According to the law, a marriage agreement can only be made at or before the marriage, in other words a marriage agreement cannot be made after the marriage.

Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the vote patterns of new immigrants from Indonesia in the 2024 Taiwan presidential election as a form of political participation. This study used a qualitative research method with the primary data collected by conducting in-depth interviews with 20 Indonesian new immigrants living in Taipei, New Taipei City, Taoyuan, Chungli, Neili, and Keelung. The theory of political participation and vote patterns was used to elaborate the findings. The research found that Indonesian new immigrants participate fairly well in politics, despite only being on a conventional level. Voicing the needs of Muslim new immigrants is one of the reasons new immigrants from Indonesia are involved in political participation. Due to educational and time constraints, most new immigrants from Indonesia prefer not to participate in non-conventional levels and higher forms of political participation. The vote patterns formed are independent voters (80%) and dependent voters (20%).

Abstract:
The article presents the results of a study aimed at generalizing the sources of data, available in Russia, that characterizes a significant but little-studied phenomenon of family migration. The paper considers data from the Main Directorate for Migration Issues of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on issued temporary residence permits (TRP) and acquisition of citizenship, Rosstat materials on the number of marriages with foreigners, as well as statistics on migration flows, which indicate family reasons. Considerable attention is given to the analysis of the Main Directorate for Migration Issues data on issued TRP and citizenship acquisition, on family reunification grounds. Based on the analyzed information, it is concluded that family migration is the major part of the flow of foreigners receiving TRP, and its share amounts to at least 35% of the total. Taking into account that a significant part of the TRPs is issued to the accompanying family members of the participants of the State Programme to Assist Voluntary Resettlement of Compatriots Living Abroad, the share of family migration can be increased to almost 50% of the TRP recipients. The percentage of migrants who acquired citizenship based on family ties with Russian citizens also amounts to about 36% of the annual flow and taking into account family members of participants of the State Program it makes almost 60% of all foreigners naturalized in 2014-2018.Analyzing the Russian statistics on citizenship acquisition available since 2010, the author notes that after the changes in the citizenship law in early 2010s, citizens of states that do not have international agreements with Russia actively use marriages with Russian citizens to simplify citizenship acquisition, and the number of such cases is growing rapidly. The basic growth rates of this category of naturalized migrants in 2018 compared to the level of 2010 reached 300 times among the citizens of Tajikistan, 110 times among the citizens of Moldova and almost 60 times among the citizens of Azerbaijan. The author suggests that there is an expansion of the practice of marriages of convenience to overcome the complexities of Russian immigration law. This hypothesis needs to be tested. It is also necessary to study the phenomenon of “transnational marriages”. The disparity in the number of foreigners, men and women who married Russian citizens, revealed by Rosstat data, also requires further study. On average, there are 15 foreign grooms per 10 foreign brides, for Tajikistan citizens this ratio amounts to 32, for Azerbaijan citizens 26, for citizens of Uzbekistan 17 and Moldova 14. The article ends with an analysis of Rosstat’s annual reports on the reasons for move and shows a limited potential of this information. The author makes recommendations for the development of administrative statistics and sample surveys to study family migration and use new types of data in research.

Abstract:
Two objects from the Siberian collection of the Krakow Ethnographic Museum are discussed in the article – a women’s fur coat from deer fur and a hat from wolverine skin. In the course of the study, the name of the donor was found out – Isidor-Alexander Sobansky, a Polish rebel of 1863, exiled to Siberia. A previously unknown to specialists lithography by the Russian artist Vladimir Sverchkov was discovered; it depicts a woman’s hat and a fur coat similar to objects from the Sobansky collection. It is known that hats from wolverine skins were part of everyday clothes of Nenets women throughout the territory of the Nenets settlement. Sometimes they were worn by shamans. The article proves that until the beginning of the 20th century women’s fur coats of the Nenets of the Kaninsky peninsula were also worn in the Urals and in the lower Ob, having been brought there by brides. In addition, the article touches on poorly studied topics of the Polish exile in Western Siberia and the depiction of the Nenets in the works of Russian and foreign artists. Thanks to the exiles who returned to their homeland from Siberia, the items that formed the basis of the Siberian collection came to Poland. The collection contains more than 350 items, including clothing, footwear, hats, products from birch bark, fur, leather and animal bones. Almost all of them were made in the 19th century by different peoples of the North and Siberia – Nenets, Selkups, Evenks, Evens, Chukchi, Koryaks, Aleuts.

Abstract:
This study investigated the effect of FDI on domestic investment in BRICS using pooled ordinary least squares (pooled OLS), fixed effects, and fully modified ordinary least squares (FMOLS). Panel data spanning from 1988 to 2020 were used in this study. Mixed results, conflicting findings and divergent views on the FDI-domestic investment nexus prompted the paper to contribute to the existing literature on the subject. The study produced results that show that domestic investment was significantly enhanced by the inflow of FDI. The positive effect of savings on domestic investment was also noted to be positively significant. Results on personal remittances-domestic investment were mixed, (1) significantly positive under the pooled OLS (models 1, 2 and 3) and FMOLS approaches (model 1) and (2) non-significantly positive under the fixed effects (models 1, 2 and 3) and FMOLS (models 2, 3). The complementarity between savings and FDI had a significant positive influence on domestic investment, whilst the positive impact of a combination of FDI and personal remittances on domestic investment was not significant. BRICS nations are therefore encouraged to implement FDI inflow enhancing measures, strategies and policies to increase individual country’s domestic investment levels. Acknowledgment Kunofiwa Tsaurai gratefully acknowledges the moral support from the University of South Africa.
