Avascular necrosis (osteonecrosis) is a disease that results from the temporary or permanent loss of blood supply to the bone. Synchrotron FT-IR microspectroscopy has been used to study the changes in mineral and matrix content of necrotic bone. The synthesis and identification of adhesive polymer materials based on urea-formaldehyde and isoamyl alcohol represent a crucial area of research in the field of materials science and industrial applications. This theme explores the advancements, challenges, and potential applications of these adhesive formulations, leveraging techniques such as FT-IR spectra, UV-Vis spectra, and Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations. The FT-IR and UV-Vis spectra were recorded in the ranges of 4000-600 cm−1 and 200-1100 nm, respectively, and were compared to the spectra that were theoretically obtained

Infrared (IR) spectroscopy has been successfully applied to study the permeation of substances through human skin in a high-throughput manner. The sample of skin was placed on the measuring surface of an attenuated total reflection (ATR) crystal and was divided into several areas. These areas were separated using a specially designed grid created on the surface of the skin and each area was subjected to a different combination of permeant and enhancer. ATR Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) imaging was applied to measure the permeation of 12 liquid samples through a piece of skin smaller than

Metronidazole and tinidazole are widely used antimicrobial drugs against Gram-negative and Gram-positive anaerobic bacteria. The present study was aimed to evaluate the impact of biofield treatment on metronidazole and tinidazole using FT-IR and UV spectroscopy. The study was carried out in two groups i.e. control and treatment. Treatment groups were subjected to Mr. Trivedi’s biofield treatment while no treatment was given to control group. FT-IR spectrum of treated metronidazole showed the impact of biofield treatment on frequency of characteristic functional groups such as C=C (imidaz

One of the most important issues in the wine sector and prevention of adulterations of wines are discrimination of grape varieties, geographical origin of wine, and year of vintage. In this experimental research study, UV-Vis and FT-IR spectroscopic screening analytical approaches together with chemometric pattern recognition techniques were applied and compared in addressing two wine authentication problems: discrimination of (i) varietal and (ii) year of vintage of red wines produced in the same oenological region. UV-Vis and FT-IR spectra of red wines were registered for all the samples and

Microscopic FT-IR spectroscopy was used to investigate spectral differences between various primary cells obtained from different sources (mouse, rat, rabbit, and human) and malignant cells transformed by murine sarcoma virus (MuSV). The advantage of this method over conventional FT-IR spectroscopy is that it facilitates inspection of restricted regions of tissue. Our results showed significant and consistent differences between all the tested normal and malignant cells. An impressive decrease in the levels of vital cellular metabolites was seen in malignant cells compared to normal cells. The

Iron was incorporated into an LTA type zeolite using the sol-gel hydrothermal method to form Iron-zeolite-A (Iron-Z-A), and its phosphate adsorption-desorption efficiency were analyzed. Samples were characterized by EDS, SEM, XRD, EPR, FT-IR XPS, and Raman to ensure the apt synthesis of Iron-Z-A and to interpret the mechanism of adsorption-desorption of PO43− in an aqueous solution. EPR and XPS analysis confirmed that the iron was doped as Fe3+ in the LTA structure.
