Abstract:
Islam has taught to maintain relations with non-Muslims and pay their dues despite differences of faith. But the Quran also instructs not to have relations with non-Muslims. There can be misunderstandings, so it should keep in mind the circumstances in which these verses were revealed. The concept of jihad in Islam has been distorted by the enemies of Islam. The Qur'an says that no one can force anyone to accept Islam, nor can we declare war on any country just to force him to convert to Islam. The Qur'anic injunctions in this regard are clear. Islam only commands non-alignment with those who abuse Muslims and try to eradicate them. Islam commands non-Muslims to be kind and compassionate towards Muslims in contrast to this attitude. Therefore, it is not correct to call the attitude of the Holy Qur'an towards opponents and enemies as a general attitude towards all non-Muslims, because the Holy Qur'an itself commands the treatment of neutral non-Muslims. This article reviews to keep an eye on the palace and the background of the verses in which it is commanded not to have relations with non-Muslims.

Yasir, Muhammad. "The Living Application of Qur’anic Legal Norms in the Indonesian Legal System: A Systematic Review of Ayat al-Aḥkam". Jurnal Ilmiah Al-Mu'ashirah 22, № 1 (2025): 129–43. https://doi.org/10.22373/jim.v22i1.30238.

Abstract:
This article systematically examines how Qur’anic legal verses (ayat al-aḥkām) have been implemented in Indonesia’s formal legal system between 2010 and 2024. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach guided by the PRISMA 2020 protocol, nine peer-reviewed journal articles were selected from seven academic databases. The findings indicate that the legislative reception of ayat al-aḥkām varies significantly across legal domains. Economic law shows the most structured integration, with verses on zakat, riba, and halal consumption codified through clear statutory instruments and supported by functional institutions. In contrast, criminal law provisions—such as hand-amputation and public lashing—face hermeneutic reinterpretation and procedural constraints, limiting their operational impact. Family law demonstrates interpretive adaptability, where issues like polygamy and inheritance are mediated through maqāṣid-oriented readings and legal safeguards. Rather than static injunctions, these verses exhibit a living character—negotiated, reinterpreted, and embodied within contemporary legal and institutional settings. Across domains, Qur’anic legal norms “live” through contextual engagement with doctrinal consensus, institutional readiness, and political feasibility. These findings reaffirm Indonesia’s dynamic and negotiated approach to Islamic legal integration, suggesting that future Qur’an-based legislation will depend as much on contextual alignment as on textual authority.

Abstract:
In Pakistan’s constitutional dispensation, the Federal Shariat Court (FSC) is empowered to ascertain the invalidity of laws from the perspective of Islamic injunctions. The paper problematises the constitutional authority of the FSC by exploring the process of Islamisation of the suit for restitution of conjugal rights (RCR). The RCR was grafted during British colonial era onto Muslim personal law (Anglo-Muhammadan Law) as applied in Indian subcontinent. This has recently been held by the FSC to be in consonance with injunctions of Islam. In this background, the paper raises some questions as to the jurisdiction of the court and how that jurisdiction/authority is exercised. It posits that the “default legal system” is placed at a privileged position and its Islamic validity is presumed to be well established, unless it is questioned on the basis of definitive verses of the Qur’an and unequivocal sayings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him). It is the outcome of this judicial approach that the FSC has sanctified from Islamic perspective an instrument (i.e., RCR) that is peculiar to the Christian ideal of monogamous and indissoluble marriage, without having any plausible foundation in Islamic legal sources.

Abstract:
T?be?n and Taba T?be?n strived hard to prevent any kind of debate based on the color and differences of debate, following the path of the Sah?bah (may Allah be pleased with them). This series of tafs?r of the Holy Quran continued with all the changing requirements of the time and the commentary discussions of the Holy Qur'an. The status of Tafs?r also gained a prominent position and the status of permanent knowledge. According to the order of the Holy Qur'an, every verse of the Holy Qur'an began to be interpreted and the publication of Tafsir Ilm-e-Tafs?r started from almost here.
The most basic source of Qur'anic commentary is the Holy Qur'an itself. Prophet? was the first commentator of the Qur'an. The character of Muhammad?, his method, Sunnah and habits are all part of the interpretation of the Qur'an. The Prophet? has clearly described the issues facing the people of that time.
Similarly, the special thing in Qazi San?ullah's book ‘Tafs?r Mazhar?’ is that in this book he discusses the topics of the sciences of recitation and tajw?d, recitation continuously, Shazah and other recitations in great detail. Also included are important topics such as lexicography and derivation and grammar discussions, commentary on the inter-verses of the verses and verses, and the revelation of glory and the jurisprudential discussions of the verses. It is needed to compare the jurisprudential discourses of the Qur'anic verses between these two commentaries and present their merits together so that the seekers of knowledge can benefit from the merits of both the commentaries. Consequently, in view of this motive, a quick work has been chosen on this regard, because this article cannot be so thick as to give an entire comparative overview of these interpretations. A comparative look at of the jurisprudential injunctions of Surah At-Toubah between Jass?s and Tafs?r Mazhar? might be performed below the identify.

Abstract:
Imam Abu Bakar AL Jassas Al Razi is one of the Prominent exegetes and legal theorists who occupy a distinguished place among Hanafi jurists. He was born in 305 AH and remained a famous Hanafi Legal expert in Baghdad. He wrote a commentary on the Qur'an entitled Ahkam al-Qur'an (The Legal Rulings of the Qur'an) with emphasis on the verses having legal importance. This commentary deals with the deduction of juristic injunctions and rulings from the noble Qur’an in a systematic and methodical way. This research is basically a discussion on AL-Jassas's methodology of deduction of rulings from the Holy Quran with special reference to the principles of Islamic Jurisprudence he used in his commentary on the Quran. The research is a focused study of some important Qawaed Usooliyyah he has applied during his discussion on the various rulings he derives from the Quranic Verses. This study proceeds with an introduction and short biography of Imam Abubakar Al-Jassas followed by an explanation of the general methodology he adopted in His Tafseer. The second part of the study focuses on some important Qawaed Usooliyyah applied and discussed by the AL-Jassas. The last part of this study consists of the conclusion and findings of this article. The study found that Al-Jassas has discussed most of the Qawaed Usooliyyah either explicitly or explicitly and applied them in the process of deduction of rulings from the Holy Quran. He has also used some Qawaed Usooliyyah which he derives from the different verses of the Quran.

Abstract:
Islamic teachings explained us everything related to our lives in the light of Quran and Sunnah. Some of them are specified for Muslim women like feeding baby, abortion, Iddah and veiling etc. Veil is the most important part for Muslim women in their lives. It protects them from bad eyes and stays them away from sins. There are many terms used for veiling like Hijab, Jilbab that are identical to the meaning of veil.Hijab is a test for the Muslim woman. It is clear from the Quran and the Hadiths that hijab is a religious obligation, which a woman has to undertake. There is no scholarly difference on this point and the Muslim Ummah has applied it for over 14 centuries. When a Muslim woman wears hijab, she is obeying and submitting to Allah. A woman who wears hijab liberates herself from the vain and selfish desire to show off her beauty and to compete with other women around her. In the Quran, the term hijab refers to a partition or curtain in the literal or metaphorical sense. The verse where it is used literally is commonly understood to refer to the curtain separating visitors to Muhammads(ï·º) house from his wives lodgings. This leads Muslim women that hijab is mandatory and to wear hijab is applied to every Muslim woman as many quranic verses denote on it. Muslim woman should cover her all body with curtain when she goes outside of the house as well as cover her face from unknown person whereas it is allowed to her to show her face, hands and legs to her relatives. In this article, the researcher conducted the research in the term of Islamic teachings of veiling and hijab for Muslim women in the light of Surah Ahzab and analyzed six verses of the concerned surah that described veiling. The researcher explained everything with some hadiths and some books and references. This article especially helps those women who are totally confused about face and body hijab as well as those who dont accept hijab as the sharia verdict of Allah and His prophet ï·º. This also helps those students who are newly doing research on hijab and veil. In fact, this article is very informative at all.

This paper explores the possibility of applying structuring injunctions in Brazilian civil procedural law. Utilizing literature review, this study explores whether the Brazilian, constitutional and infraconstitutional normative system is apt for the adoption of structuring injunctions without contradicting or affronting the current legal system. To this end, this article analyzes the constitutional principles of access to justice, the division of state functions, as well as the principles of demand and correlation. It also studies legislative innovations of the Brazilian Code of Civil Procedure of 2015, specifically the general procedural clauses and the principle of collaboration. This study then goes on to study article 21 of the Law of Introduction to Norms of Brazilian Law, which adopts explicitly the use of structural measures in the judicial decision-making process.

Abstract:
This study offers a critical analysis of the Dilalah Lafz ala al-Ahkam method (verbal indication of legal rulings) as conceptualized by Hasan al-Turabi, with particular emphasis on his interpretive approach to Qur’anic injunctions concerning prohibited forms of marriage. Employing a qualitative, library-based research methodology, this paper adopts a descriptive-analytical framework and draws primarily from al-Tafsir al-Tawhidi as the central textual source. The theoretical underpinning is grounded in the framework of mantuq and mafhum—a methodological apparatus developed by Khalid Ibn Uthman al-Sabt for legal hermeneutics within the Dilalah Lafz tradition. The analysis proceeds by identifying and cataloguing relevant Qur’anic verses addressing prohibited marriages, explicating al-Turabi’s hermeneutical approach, and subsequently assessing it through the lens of mantuq and mafhum theory. The findings suggest that al-Turabi’s interpretative method is consistent with the analytical strategies of the Mutakallimin school, especially in his reliance on explicit (mantuq) and implicit (mafhum) textual meanings to derive legal rulings.

Abstract:
An in-depth knowledge of the Objectives of Shariah, as intended by Allah the Lawgiver, is needed for analytical research when enacting Shariah. The question arises regarding the level of Arabic language knowledge required to understand Shariah before one is considered bound by Shariah injunctions. The main aim of this study is to elaborate on the classification of the Objectives of Shariah as advanced by al-Shatibi, especially, the objective of enacting Shariah for proper understanding (Ifhām). Also discussed in this study are the identification of foreign terms introduced into the Arabic language, if any found in the Quran, the knowledge of rules relating to customary usage of Quranic Arabic as understood by both laymen and experts, and the role these play in deducing the objectives of enacting Shariah. Another objective of Islamic law is the secondary connotation, whereby each interpreter understands the same text differently. This is the basis for translated text of Shariah. The findings of this study reveal that, firstly, there are no non-Arabic terms in Shariah text; second, Shariah text have both primary and secondary connotations which pose problems in translation; third, the Arabic language text was revealed to an unlettered Arab who understood it and implemented the demands of the text; fourth, there are linguistic maxims from which objectives result, as raised by al-Shatibi; finally, al-Shatibi re-defined in detail both primary and secondary connotations of Sharia texts due to their significance, since command and prohibition verses may independently convey such injunctions.

Abstract:
Realist Interpretation and Symbolic Meaning of the Quran for the Society of Probolinggo Regency. All Moslem scholars believe that people have own ways to respond, interact, and function Quranic verses within their lives. Their effort is only to maintain the majesty of the Quran. Therefore, this study will examine how does the symbolization of Quranic verses has functions for, how do they elucidate and interpret, how do their interpretation and symbolization of Quranic verses take a position in Quranic discourse, especially in Probolinggo. The qualitative paradigm was chosen to clarify those questions. Meanwhile, the approach to data is Turner’s processional approach of symbolism and Levi Strauss’ structuralism. Through this discussion, the result of research concluded that the symbolization of Quranic verses has four functions, mainly (1) source of religious teaching; key element of ritual and ceremonial activities; ornament of calligraphy; and mystical medium, (2) symbolization of verses indicates Probolinggo people’s stance in using Quran; the meaning of symbolized verses is possible to trace from their consciousness and unconsciousness, and (3) interpretation and symbolization of Quranic verses take a position in the light of realist interpretation and meaningful interpretation as well as the living Quran, which have implied not only theoretical study of Quranic verses, but also practical function for society in the real life.

The study aims to map the status of women right of inheritance in Bangladesh with reference to Islamic injunctions and social practice. For ideal status verses of Holy Quran and traditions of Holy Prophet regarding women right of inheritance are collected. The study concludes that we see most of the people of Bangladesh are reluctant to follow Islamic principles properly with reference to women right of inheritance. Who give women inheritance among of them majority families does not give women inheritance rather provide cash or kind in lieu of their actual shares. Even our society consider dowry as substitute of women right of inheritance. Economic dependency on men, fear of social breakup and conflicts with family and deficiency of proper Islamic knowledge are the reasons for women not to press for their share. Religious scholars should be involved to teach the masses to fulfill their religious obligation of providing actual share of inheritance to women.

Abstract:
In this study, I set out to investigate the motivations and reasons which induce Muslims to invoke the recitation of Qur’anic verses in their ordinary discourse. Based on the analysis of the data complied, Muslims seem inclined to recite Qur’anic verses for a host of pragmatic functions. These pragmatic functions range from mitigating one’s commitment for carrying out a future action or failing to honor one’s commitment, to avoiding the effects and adverse consequences of one’s actions on others. In addition, the recitation appears to function as a confirmation of the participants’ religious, cultural, and linguistic identities. Furthermore, the findings of this study underlie the multifaceted functions that Muslims attach to and associate with use of Qur’anic verses. Muslims can exonerate themselves from the responsibilities of rejecting directives or turning down offers or avoiding staking the self-image of their recipient particularly when their actions are face-threatening or have undesirable consequences on their recipients. Moreover, the findings of this study reveal that Muslims are inclined to use Qur’anic verses as a rhetorical strategy of indirect persuasion to lend credibility to the claims they wish their prospective audiences to act upon them.

Abstract:
This research discusses the understanding of LDK PP. Muhammadiyah regarding the verses of da'wah using the perspective of Maqâsid al-Qur'ân. According to LDK PP. Muhammadiyah, Da'wah based on the verses of the Koran stands on two functions of the Koran, namely message and grace. The use of the term mercy function in this case is very close to one of the terms Maqâsid al-Qur'ân, namely rahmah. Starting from this research problem, the researchers traced the intersection of the two functions with the theory of Maqâsid al-Qur'ân, then the researchers formulated the structure of the Maqâsid verses of da'wah in the LDK PP version. Muhammadiyah. The data analysis methods used are the istiqrâ’ (inductive method) and the muqâranah (comparative method). The inductive method was used to inventory the understanding of da'wah verses as a typical Maqâsid view in the LDK PP version. Muhammadiyah, while the comparative method is used to compare the understanding of da'wah verses of the LDK PP. Muhammadiyah with the formulation of Maqâsid al-Qur'ân. This research produced two findings. Firstly, by using the perspective of Maqâsid al-Qur'ân, secondly, the function of the Qur'anic verses of da'wah in the LDK PP version. Muhammadiyah is the dynamics of the mufassir maqâs}idi version of the Maqâsid formulation of da'wah verses, in the form of maqs}ad al-rahmah and maqsad al-risâlah with their respective derivatives. Second, the dynamics of understanding LDK PP. Muhammadiyah regarding da'wah verses shows two Maqâsid simultaneously, namely theocentric and anthropocentric Maqâsid with renewal in its applicable context.

Abstract:
Contemporary state and society is evolved shape of family unit. All societies deeply respected this fundamental brick in the course of human civilization. Particularly, Muslim society has completely different ideology and structure regarding family. After individual, this divinely inspired institution has a prominent place in Muslim society. Quranic Studies being basic source of Islamic injunctions granted detailed regulations of this unit. It stated minutely rights and duties of family members to achieve its preliminary communal objective. All human civilizations recognized the marriage as established form of human relationship based on human instincts. Islam denied so-called heaven and unbroken status of marriage but introduced a mediated application of law. It is hour to study Islamic ideal concept of marriage and divorce especially in qur’anic debate. The study in hand will explore the status of family institution in Muslim society. It will highlighted the eligibility of marriage, maintenance, gender equality and dower matters. This paper will provide some suggestions for further modifications in matrimonial laws of Pakistan. Abstract:
The interpretation of the Qur'an often neglects sociological disparities, despite its inherent social dimensions. This study examines Abdullah Saeed's progressive interpretation of the Qur'an, focusing on his concept of the Islamic hierarchy of values as a framework for recontextualizing ethical-legal injunctions in modernity. Employing a descriptive-qualitative method with a hermeneutic and socio-historical approach, this research traces the epistemological foundations of Saeed’s contextual exegesis and its implications for contemporary Qur’anic scholarship. Saeed argues that ethical-legal verses must be reinterpreted in light of evolving social realities, emphasizing a dynamic hierarchy of values that prioritizes the Qur'an's overarching moral objectives over rigid textual literalism. Influenced by Fazlur Rahman’s double-movement hermeneutics, Saeed systematically develops an interpretive model that distinguishes between timeless universal principles and time-bound rulings. His approach advocates for a shift from textualist to contextual methodologies, ensuring the Qur'an’s relevance to modern challenges. This study concludes that Saeed’s hierarchy of values offers a transformative framework for progressive Qur’anic interpretation, balancing fidelity to the text with responsiveness to societal change, thereby enriching contemporary Islamic thought.

life, provides intensive injunctions on marital life. It proposes reverence to scrupulousness of spouses. Unjustified blaming on someone causes anarchism and brings dishonor. Accusing someone of immorality or illicit affair without any Shar'i evidence is haraam and a grave sin, and if a woman is chaste, the sin of slandering her is more severe than slandering an ordinary person, if the husband accuses his wife of adultery. So in the presence of the Shariah court there will be "Lian". The term Lian (Execration) refers to the testimony of God's curse and wrath on behalf of each of the spouses with an oath. This curse substitutes the false accusation in favor of the husband and the of penance of depravity (Shariah punishment) in favor of the wife. Quran has offered admirable rulings in the verses of Lian to shield the rectitude of spouses. Using qualitative research method, this article has made an attempt to analyses the rulings about Lian in the light of Ahkam-ul-Quran and Tafsir-e-Namoona.

Abstract:
The Qur'an is the holy book of Muslims which functions as a way of life and guidance for humans in living their lives in the world. The Qur'an contains many aspects and parts of life, including worship, muamalah, warnings and knowledge. -The Al-Qur'an is a revelation whose truth is absolute, so from a scientific point of view, both science and society must be in harmony with the information contained in the Al-Qur'an. Science, especially science, is related to events in the universe. Nature and humans are sources of knowledge which are often referred to as the macro world and the micro world. However, there are other sources of knowledge, especially those that come from revelation or the Koran. Not all verses of the Koran touch on natural issues, of the 6,236 verses there are only 800 verses. These verses became known as kauniyah verses. There are several patterns of explanation of the Qur'an in these kauniyah verses. One example of the Islamization of science is the Islamic insight into nerve cells in the brain. The interaction of cells, tissues, organs and organ systems in the human body cannot be separated from the existence of nerve cells. The human nervous system consists of the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system. The central nervous system is divided into two parts, namely the brain and spinal cord. The brain as the central nervous system has a central role in regulating body functions. The Qur'an mentions brain neurons.

Abstract:
Investigates the idea of muhkam and mutasyabih stanzas in the Qur'an and the connected religious ramifications. Muhkam refrains are stanzas that have clear, unequivocal and express implications, giving a strong legitimate premise and standards in Islamic lessons. Mutasyabih verses, on the other hand, contain symbolism and metaphors that enhance the spiritual and intellectual aspects of the sacred text and have meanings that are ambiguous and necessitate in-depth analysis. This study demonstrates that muhkam verses provide Muslims with clear practical and legal guidance, whereas mutasyabih verses encourage deep reflection and the development of theological understanding by analyzing the characteristics, functions, and purposes of these two types of verses. In interpreting the Qur'an, where muhkam and mutasyabih verses complement one another in conveying the Divine message, the study emphasizes the significance of a comprehensive and holistic understanding. These verses have important theological implications for the development of contemporary Islamic thought, including a deeper comprehension of God's nature, the essence of Islamic teachings, and the dynamics of interpreting sacred tex.

Abstract:
AbstractWhile much has been written about resurgent Islamic movements in recent decades, the proliferation of religious reading circles has received little attention. Few studies delineate the specifics of audience engagement with authoritative Islamic texts on the ground. This paper is a small attempt at such an inquiry in the context of Bangladesh. It investigates a particular Islamist Qur'anic study session conducted in Dhaka in 2003. Such reading sessions are routinely conducted within Bangladesh Islamic Chatri Sangstha (BICSa), the leading Islamic organization of women students in Bangladesh. I suggest that BICSa reading sessions embody spaces of both deliberation and discipline. In analysing a group discussion of a set of Qur'anic verses widely assigned for study within BICSa, particularly in relation to the central Islamist notion of ‘belief’, this paper argues that reading circles play a primary role in the production of a uniquely disciplined and devout, yet modern Islamist subjectivity in Bangladesh. A study circle familiarizes a lay Bangladeshi with specific kinds of religious literature and teaches them to understand and shape contemporary realities via scriptural injunctions. However, this inculcation process is not linear: The mastery of the Qur'anic literature enables both devotion to and contestation of BICSa precepts.

Abstract:
This research discusses the concept of Islamic education in Surah Luqman verses 12-19 based on the Al-Azhar commentary by Hamka and its relevance to strengthening the mental health of Generation Z. These verses cover three main aspects of education: belief (verses 12, 13, 16), sharia (verses 14, 15, 17), and morals (verses 14, 15, 18, 19). Luqman's messages to his son through dialog emphasize the importance of direct communication in education. Generation Z, born in the digital era, has unique characteristics that include familiarity with technology, concern for global issues, and the need for strengthening mental health. Good mental health involves harmony of psychiatric functions, self-acceptance, and positive relationships with God and others. In this context, Islamic education, which emphasizes tawhid, gratitude, worship, and harmonious relationships with parents and society, provides a strong foundation for building resilient mental health. The integration of Islamic education values from Surah Luqman verses 12-19 into the lives of generation Z has the potential to create individuals who are spiritually, emotionally and socially healthy. This can be achieved through Islamic counseling, which helps individuals understand religious values, accept themselves, and develop positive life habits.

Abstract:
This study focuses on the use of isrā’īlīyāt narratives in three pesantren-related Qur’anic exegesis in Indonesia. There have been many recent studies to explore the use of isrā'īlīyāt in exegesis, but the analysis on the use of isrā'īlīyāt narratives, its underlying factors, and its impact on exegesis has not been widely discussed. By limiting to examining the use of isrā'īlīyāt narratives in the stories of Jālūt and Ṭālūt, this study revealed a shift in the use of isrāīlīyāt from the validity aspect to the functional aspect. It also disclosed two functions of isrā'īlīyāt: the descriptive and medical functions. The descriptive function represents the moral content in the story of the Qur'an, which has an impact on the purpose of mentioning stories in the Qur’an as i'tibār (something to learning). The medical function, refers to the internal tendency of the interpreter to choose the story, and this function determines the pattern in the exegesis of narrative verses. The exegesis pattern in methodological studies is directed only at verses with legal and theological nuances, by excluding narrative verses.

Abstract:
This study examines rhythm in the subject matters of the Holy Quran and the functions that rhythm serves in Makki and Medani verses. To accomplish the study objectives, content analysis as a tool was devised to analyze rhythm based on its subject matters. The Holy Quran includes Madni (revealed in Medina) (26%) and Makki (revealed in Makkah) (74%), and each one has different subject matters and functions. The study showed that rhythm in the Holy Quran is distinct, inimitable, melodious and serves several functions as mentioned in the study. It also affects meaning and varies according to the subject matter. Furthermore, it is a phonological term contributing to how meaning is organized, offered and leads to a better understanding of verses and helps listeners memorize them easily. This paper paves the way for further linguistic studies on the Holy Quran, such as phono–pragmatic studies.

The article raises the question of the meaning and functions of the song refrain and its connection the main verses. As a result of the analysis of couplet songs from the movie “June 31” (words by R. Kazakova, L. Derbenev, Yu. Entin) we came to the conclusion that the refrain, as a recurring element of the song, performs several functions: reveals the inner world of the lyrical hero, his values, emotions; expresses the main idea of the work; concisely expresses the plot. The refrain is combined with verses, most often with the principle of “part – whole”, sometimes with oppositions. There are differences depending on the pathos of the songs: the refrains of lyrical songs differ in semantic and functional diversity.

Abstract:
This article deals with the functions of literary allusions in Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats by T. S. Eliot. The material of the study is the book of verses included into the annotated anthology The Poems of T. S. Eliot. Vol. 2. Practical Cats and Further Verses (2015) compiled and edited by the leading contemporary Eliot scholars, British-American researcher Sir Christopher Ricks and renowned British critic and publisher Jim McCue. In this paper, the author considers different types of allusions in T. S. Eliot’s poems and determine their specificity. This has required using cultural historical approach and methods of literary structural analyses. The purpose of the study is to confirm that the intertextuality of Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats is represented by a new type of allusiveness, which is an important element of modernist aesthetics. Intertextuality in T. S. Eliot’s book of verses is a complex system of connections between texts and phenomena of various cultural and historical layers. Allusions change the status of the texts of the book, make them heterogeneous and help to expand their figurative structure. A characteristic feature of Eliot’s modernist allusion is its multi-composition where one and the same image can be correlated to various literary texts and cultural eras. The intertextuality of Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats proves that these verses were addressed for an adult audience as well, since only an intellectually “savvy” reader familiar with a wide range of literature and art works, various cultural traditions and historical eras is able to understand the different textual levels and the artistic intentions of the poet.

The method used in this research is library research where the writer tries to find, compile and analyze various information through various related sources. The Qur'an has functions as a bayan (explanatory) and hudan (guidance) which contains an explicit verse or muhkam. Besides, it also has functions as the greatest miracle and literary book in human history which contains an implicit verse or mutasyabih that will never end to be studied and researched. Muhkamat and mutasyabihat verses are two complementary things in the Qur'an. There is an immeasurable wisdom and educational value for both. Therefore, in learning and understanding both is as well as learning the wisdom of decreasing the Qur'an itself.

This article was written to analyze the tikrar lafdzi in Surah Al-Insyirah verses 5 and 6 and understand the meaning or purpose of repeating words in these two verses based on the Tafsir Al-Kassyaaf book. The focus of this study is to contain aspects in which one of the two aspects is lafadz (lafdzi). Judging from the lafadz it contains, Tikrar Lafdzi is a repetition of a verse from the Koran. To explain the topics discussed and collect various primary and secondary reference sources, the author of this article applies qualitative research methodology and Library Research-based data collection strategies. Tafsir Al-Kassyaaf functions as a primary source, while a number of related books and articles function as secondary sources. From writing this article, the author found findings based on the Tafsir Al-Kasyaaf book that First, the repetition of tikrar lafdzi in the lafadz العسر and يسرا counts twice in verses 5 and 6 to strengthen the meaning of the previous sentence. Second, in verses 5 and 6, the word العسر in the form of ma'rifah is marked alif lam, indicating that the difficulties referred to in the two verses are the same. On the other hand, the word يسرا in verses 5 and 6 is nakirah, so the ease stated in verse 5 is different from the ease stated in verse 6. Third, the word العسر which is in the form of ma'rifah and the word يسرا which is in the form of nakirah in verses 5 and 6 are understood one difficulty is simultaneously followed by two eases.

The Al-Qur'an is one of the sources of knowledge that has absolute truth. This source of knowledge does not only focus on knowledge about worship and muamalah, but also on scientific insights, namely scientific facts. These scientific cues are found in the verses of the Qur'an which are scattered throughout the surah and are referred to as kauniyah verses. One of the scientific signs explained in the Qur'an is about nerve cells. There are six verses spread across three suras in the Al-Qur'an with an indirect pattern of conveying information so that it requires further study to understand the meaning and scientific signals. The word "naashiyah" contained in the six verses means forelock, it is stated that the forelock is a guarantee for responsibility for dishonorable actions or wrongdoing. Scientific facts about the crown is the part of the front brain that functions as a controller, memory and decision maker, which is called the frontal lobe. The information from these six verses is true that the crown is the place where decisions are made and is the measuring point for the right or wrong decisions taken. Therefore, information from the Koran and scientific facts from research results are integrated with each other and show harmony.

Marked, unconventional word order is one of the most pertinent stylistic features of the Qurʾan, and is employed to realise certain discursive functions. This article identifies the verses which foreground a lexical item to (or towards) sentence-initial position, resulting in a marked word order, as well as the functions realised thereby, drawing on classical commentaries on the Qurʾan. Two of the most important English translations of the Qurʾan by Abdel Haleem (2004/2005) and Arberry (1955/1998) are selected for closer examination of the strategies they use to deal with the corpus of verses. The discussion is carried out against the backdrop of the translators’ stated aims and reviews of their output. Furthermore, the potential influences of the translators’ motivations, target readers’ expectations, and the historical context of their work on their respective output are also discussed.

Abstract This paper suggests that the narrative retelling of the Bhagavadgītā (BhG) dialogue that occurs in the sixth book of the Mokṣopāya (MU) (ca. 950 CE) known as the Arjunopākhyāna (AU) functions as a polemic style semantic translation that shifts the meaning of the original story with which it shares content, characters, elements and verses, illustrating a different doctrine in the process. Just over thirty quoted verses from the BhG are recontextualized and merged seamlessly with verses that are original to the MU, translating them into the non-dualistic, idealist conceptual language of the MU. The nonduality at the heart of Vasiṣṭha’s teaching in the MU is different from the theistic Sāṃkhya-influenced duality of Kṛṣṇa’s discourse in the BhG. Puruṣa and prakṛti are consistently replaced in the AU by an all-encompassing singular consciousness whose cosmic mind imagines everything, including Kṛṣṇa, all subjective agency, worship and liberation.

In the existing debate, this paper aims to examine the methods used by scholars in understanding the mutashabihat verses. (a) How is the analysis of the interpretation of scholars in understanding the mutashâbihât verses? (b) What factors cause them to disagree? This paper is built from data collected through library research by tracing sources that relate directly to the theme. This paper uses the approach of interpretation and science. This paper shows that scholars use two methods in understanding mutashabihat verses. First; ta’wil method, they tend to understand the letter waw as waw ‘ataf in the fragment of verse wa al-rasikhuna fi al-’ilm (Q.S.Ali Imran (3): 7), which connects the previous sentence, the connotation is that Allah and the people are firmly grounded in knowledge know the definite meaning. Second; tafwid method, they tend to understand the letter waw as waw al-isti’naf functions as mubtada’ which is a new sentence. The connotation is to give its definite meaning to Allah alone and to those whose knowledge is profound in their faith. Some mutashabihat verses can be identified through scientific theory.

The phenomenon of using the verses of the Qur’an as a mentre (mantra) in the traditions of the Sasak people is still developing today. However, the fact is that in several ways there is a discrepancy between the meaning of the Qur'anic verses used and its intended function. These verses are used as mentre only because they have the same homophone (sound) with the Sasak dialect or language. This study aimed to reveal how the reception of the Sasak people to the use of verses of the Qur’an as a mentre in which has phonological similarities (homophones) with Sasak vocabulary or dialect. The research data was taken from interviews with several community leaders in Darmaji village, Kopang sub-district, Central Lombok who had in-depth knowledge of ministers. This study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach as an analytical tool. The results of the study showed that the use of inconsistent verses of the Qur’an (meanings and functions did not match) was a form of the Sasak people's belief in the power of the Qur’an. In addition, the incompatibility in the meaning of the Qur'an which was adapted based on the sound similarity with the Sasak dialect was a form of creativity of the Sasak people in interpreting the Qur'an. In line with that, the authors conclude that the phenomenon that occurs in the mentre tradition of the Sasak people is a form of community of the Qur’an in a magical space.

Abstract:
It is often argued that Islam is not compatible with modernity. This can be seen for instance in the fact of the problem that Islam faces to the challenge of universal values of human rights. Built on this supposition, the present article discusses on the great extent the question of religious freedom in Islam. As freedom of religion in the framework of universal declaration of human rights can mean as freedom to change religion, this contradicts to Islamic prohibition of apostasy, punishable with death penalty. The author argues that Islam in fact guarantees religious freedom. This is clear from the Quranic injunctions assuring the freedom of choice whether to embrace Islam or not. Such a freedom is however often contradicted to one prophetic tradition sanctioning death penalty for apostasy. In her view, the author believes that the hadith more in attunes to the political strategy of the prophet to safe Muslim community from any acts of treason or sedition. Death penalty for apostasy is thus not related to the mere personal crime of changing religion but more that of public law related to war or crimes against state. More relying on the modern interpretation of the Quranic verses as well as the prophetic traditions, the author concludes that Islam is in conjunction with the modern values of religious freedom in which personal choice of religion or belief is the backbone of human rights.

Batik has many roles and functions in the rule of its society. Oneof it is the batik functions in the social-religion activity. In Java, it is true that batik has ritual function in the early time. Previously, batik is one of king’s cloth. Batik with parang motif is worn only for the king in the formal ceremony as a symbol of legitimation. Since 20th century, batik has gone out from the Javanese palace and spread over territories around Nusantara. One of the places is Bengkulu Province which has special batik motive called batik besurek. The early literature didn’t identify besurek batik, but today it becomes one of the Bengkulu province icons. Besurekbatik has meaning in the Islamic ritual as one artefact used in funeral activity, tabut tradition, and circumcision ritual. The wearing of besurek batik is a way promote Islamic mission (dakwah). It is the way to glory the God (Allah). Recently, the people removed the verses Al-Qur’an written in Besurek batik and they changed the God verses with calligraphy that looks like Arabic alphabets without meaning called besurek.

Abstract: the legal position of al-sunnah (prophet tradition) is as the source of Islamic law. However, each has distinction in term of transmission. While all verses of the Quran were transmitted successively (tawatur), not many prophet traditions are successive. Instead, they are reported in solitary manner. Thus, further meticulous examination of its authenticity is a must. The examination involves the number of transmitters as well as their personality. Therefore, the legal position of al-sunnah vis-à -vis the Quran comes in three functions: Firstly, the position of al-Sunnah as source of Islamic law secondary to the Quran and functions to elaborate the general meaning of the Quran. Secondly, al-Sunnah interprets verses of the Quran’ Thirdly, al-Sunnah perform as further interpretation for the Quran in term of bayân al-mujmal, bayân taqyîd al-muthlaq, bayân al-takhshish al-‘âm, dan bayân tawdhîh al-musykil.

Reproductive health for women is very important to pay attention to because it is closely related to the process of forming a family. Women must maintain their reproductive health so that they are protected from all infections or diseases that attack the reproductive organs. In Islam, reproductive health is also related to the mechanisms of the reproductive system itself which includes menstruation, pregnancy, breastfeeding, promiscuous sex (zina), and abortion. This research discusses issues regarding verses related to women's reproductive health. The aim is to find out the role of women in maintaining their reproductive health. The method used in this research is thematic interpretation research technique. Then at this point the discussion is motivated by the interpretation of the Al-Qur'an using the theory of Maudhu'i interpretation, namely; collects verses from the Qur'an that touch on the theme of reproductive health. The conclusion of this research is that the interpretation of verses on women's reproductive health includes the prohibition of sexual relations during menstruation, the prohibition of adultery, and the prohibition of having an abortion. So this can be interpreted by interpreters as support that it is true that the Qur'an pays attention to women's reproductive health. Thus, the verses about women's reproductive health can be understood as a form of understanding in maintaining reproductive health.

Abstract:
Semantics of Tammām also known as ilm al-dalālaṯ is the discussion of the strong relationship between meaning and three items by integrating syntax and ilm al-ma‘ānī (the science of meaning). There are two pillars of meaning, namely ma‘nā maqālī (literal meaning) and ma‘nā maqāmī (contextual meaning) that uphold semantics. This study found any uncertainty regarding the semantic components can call into question the analysis’s efforts and the veracity of the results. This is as mentioned by Iftikhar Muhammad (2004) in his master’s thesis when talking about the uncertainty of niẓām al-jumlaṯ (verse system aspect) from Ibrāhīm Anīs. From that, this study has decided to explain the semantic functions of the waqf lāzim that is present in the Surah al-Mā’idaṯ. The selection of this Surah is based on the existence of three different waqf ikhtiyari laws, there are law of tām, kāfī and ḥasan. This existence sheds light on the purpose and semantic significance of Tammam in the waqf lāzim verses with its several laws. In an effort to achieve the research objective, this study uses a qualitative method, covering only the literature review. By this method, the study has room to use a non-prominent method, where data is obtained from written records only. The collected data will then be analysed using the content analysis method. It includes three steps: mind mapping of the waqf lāzim verse, verse description, and interpretation and evidence. Next, by using the research methodology earlier, this study found that two waqf lāzim verses in Surah al-Mā’idaṯ have the same waqf law, while the other two verses are different. Two verses that have the same waqf law are Surah al-Mā’idaṯ, 5: 51 and Surah al-Mā’idaṯ, 5: 64, that is, with the rule of kāfī. Two more verses are Surah al-Mā’idaṯ, 5: 2, which is with the law of tām, and Surah al-Mā’idaṯ, 5: 73, which is with the law of ḥasan. In the end, this study provided a simple semantic framework to understand its function in the verses of waqf lāzim as shown in Figure 1. This study also contributed in solving the ambiguity found in semantic theory such as Ibrāhīm Anīs in studying the verses of waqf lāzim. The most interesting contribution from this study is revealing the semantic correlation between the four verses of waqf lāzim with signalling techniques.

Abstract:
This qualitative research argues that the concept of human creation in the holy Quran can be revealed by analyzing the words khalaqa, ja’ala, bada’a, shana’a, and fathara. In doing the analysis, the meaning of words is characterized based on lexical, grammatical, and contextual aspects. This research found that there are only two words used in verses concerning human creation, namely ‘خلق، جعل’ / ‘ja’ala, khalaqa’. The word khalaqa is an intransitive word (fi’il muta’addy) consisting of a single object (maf’ul). Furthermore, the word ‘جعل’ is a transitive verb consisting of two objects (muta’addi bi maf’ulaini). In the context of human creation, the word is used to describe the function of human beings. The word جعل functions as an element to describe the role of an object in the respective verses.

Abstract:
Qur’an surah An-Nahl verses 68 and 69 provide information about the nature of bees and their benefits for human life. Allah inspires bees to build nests and find food in trees, mountains, and places made by humans. This study aims to examine scientific information on bees in Surah An-Nahl verses 68 and 69. The research method is library research. The results showed that bees in Surah An-Nahl verses 68 and 69 produce honey, have a good life, have great teamwork, and give benefits to human life. Bee gives people good role models for human society, teamwork, and lifestyle. In science, bees produce pheromone chemical compounds that play a role in communication between bees in the colony. The pheromones produced by the queen bee can regulate the male bees and worker bees to be loyal to the queen bee and carry out their duties well. Qur’an Surah An-Nahl verses 68 and 69 give us information about the bee and honey. Allah gives a message to people to live like a bee to have a good social, good lifestyle, don’t destroy the environment, and give benefits to people like honey. Rasullullah advised us to consume honey for treatment. Honey functions as an antioxidant, anticancer, and energy source, healthy heart, control sugar level, and maintain a healthy body. Bee food is nectar, good nectar will produce high-quality honey. Chemical compounds that are often found in honey like glucose, flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin, and glycoside.

Abstract:
This article reveals exploration of mathematical models and concepts in <em>QS An-Nur: 24:26</em>. This research stems from the ineffectiveness of learning mathematics because the process does not begin with students' initial understanding. In fact, according to NCTM, teaching and learning will be effective if it starts from what students know. In Islamic school students, initial knowledge can be extracted from the Qur'an because the Qur'an is a learning tool in believing in Islam, so it is recognized that the verses of the Qur'an are contained in the cognitive structure of students, which can facilitate learning. Unfortunately, the sources of learning mathematics and the Qur'an used by Islamic schools have not covered all topics of learning mathematics, so to complete it, it is necessary to model the verses of the Qur'an related to mathematics. This research was conducted to obtain mathematical modeling and concepts at the high school/equivalent level using the Miles and Huberman analysis method combined with Blum and Leib modeling and Abdussakir theory and Pseudo concrete. Based on the combination of analytical theory, the modeling and mathematical concepts contained are relations, surjective and bijective functions, inverse functions, and reflections.

Abstract:
In his book Comparative History of Slavic Literatures, Dmytro Chyzhevsky saw macaronic poetry and also dialectal poetry, language of the Roma, children and different jargons as specific aspects of Baroque defamiliarization. Milorad Pavić, a known researcher of the Serbian Baroque, knew Baroque in its broadest sense, hence this aspect was not foreign to him. References to the book of Chyzhevsky made in the book History of Serbian Literature of the Baroque Era, testify to this. The manner in which Pavić as the writer used the potential of the dialectical poetry, reflects in the story titled The Tale That Killed Emilia Knorr. It ends with verses in kajkavski dialect, from the song Međimurska written by poet Nikola Pavić from Zagreb. This paper has been designed as an attempt to identify the functions of the verses in the context of Pavić's story. In other words, the paper is an attempt to answer the question about what meaningful horizons the verses have opened in the context of history, history of language, history of literature and culture. In The Tale That Killed Emilia Knorr, the quoted verses from the Međimurska song, which also conveys some spirit of our civic poetry or the spirit of Pannonia, suggest a love triangle - between two guys in kolo and Cecilia. Except the love triangle, Cecilia and her two suitors may also represent the literary mirroring of Nikola and Milorad Pavić, as well as the solidification (Cecilia) of their mirroring subject, or conflict subject if we accept the interpretation of the conflict (named as Emilia). The process of quoting verses in the body of a novel or a tale, have opened the interpretation of Pavić's deadly landscape as a double scenery (real and metaphysical). This has set the overtone of the ballad atmosphere to The Tale That Killed Emilia Knorr.

Abstract:
Reduplication can be defined as a morphological process where the root or stem of a word (or part of it) is repeated exactly or with a slight change. It can be found in many world languages with various types and uses. This paper investigates reduplication in terms of phonology, morphology, and semantics in some selected verses of the Glorious Qur’an concerning its kinds and its translation into English. The main problem of the present research is concerned with the way of translating reduplication concerning the Glorious Quran. Different interpretations of reduplication are adopted to show the efficiency and the rhetorical functions of these forms. More specifically, four translations of Pickthall, Yusuf Ali, Shakir, and Arberry are examined to find the strategies and methods used to translate reduplication accurately and appropriately. It is concluded that some translators succeeded in translating reduplication, whereas others could maintain neither the functions nor the impacts of such forms in English. However, it is challenging to render reduplication phonologically and morphologically into English due to the eloquence and inimitability of the Glorious Qur’an.
