Abstract:
When we read that the weather is not in good condition, often our hearts are touched to do something for the Earth, our home. However, it means that we are making the Earth as an object that exists independently of us? This perspective tends to place humans “higher” than non-human entities. Graham Harman dismantles that duality and proposes a way return to its being, asserting that both have an equivalent ontological basis that can no longer be reduced. This thought does not want to show that we are helpless in the face of nature, but we can do some action through aesthetics. This paper will use a fully literature-based method and rotate around the axis of Graham Harman’s thinking, especially the principles of Object-Oriented Ontology (OOO). This new proposition is expected to provide us with a better basis for how we perceive nature

Abstract:
The ability to accurately predict the course of an epidemic is extremely important. This article looks at an influenza outbreak that spread through a small boarding school. Predictions are made on multiple days throughout the epidemic using the stochastic Galerkin method to consider a range of plausible values for the parameters. These predictions are then compared to known data points. Predictions made before the peak of the epidemic had much larger variances compared to predictions made after the peak of the epidemic.

Abstract:
For the analysis of the measurement of thermoelectric parameters of semiconductors, the Harman pulsed method was used. The authors propose a new approach to determine the thermoelectric quality factor of thin semiconductor films in the temperature interval (300 ÷ 500) K by directly measuring a series of electric circuit parameters. The theory of the method is described in detail and its application in the measurement methodology. The dependences of electrical quantities on the time, namely voltage – V(t), are investigated at different values of current pulses for thin films PbTe<Tl> grown by the pulsed laser deposition.

Abstract:
Abstract The article proposes a new approach for measuring the kinetic parameters of low-temperature thermoelectrics. This approach makes it possible to get rid of the need to use alternating current during measurements, which leads to a significant simplification of the electrical circuit of the measuring setup. For completeness, the picture in the introduction to the article considers the Harman method in its author's description. The theoretical foundations that allow you to get rid of measurements on alternating current are set out in the second part of the article. The current state of the application of the Harman method for measuring the kinetic parameters of thermoelectrics is also described. Finally, a new technique for measuring the coefficient of the Thomson electrothermal effect is proposed.

Abstract:
Ghettoised urban structures form an essential component of the urban environment wherever they are found and their distinctive physical traits make them clearly identifiable. In the present study, various theories, concepts and viewpoints – mostly of European and American scientists – have been examined and the theoretical aspects of the term "ghetto" have been outlined through the prism of the Bulgarian reality – based on the example of the Roma neighbourhood of Harman Mahala in the City of Plovdiv. The main research question to which an answer is sought is: are the Roma neighbourhoods in Bulgaria essentially ghettos and how many of the characteristics of the ghetto do they exhibit? The study is based on a survey amongst 500 inhabitants of Harman Mahala or 27.8% of its population, as well as on in-depth, semi-structured interviews, with representatives of local authorities, educational and health mediators from the studied Roma neighbourhood school principals, teachers and students. Through the application of the so-called checklist method, it was established that the studied Roma neighbourhood meets all but one condition (Involuntary segregation), in order to be referred to as a "ghetto" and, therefore, it can only be regarded as a "ghettoised urban structure".

Full text
Abstract:
This paper introduces transient Harman (TH), impedance spectroscopy (IS), and time-domain impedance spectroscopy (TDIS) methods as feasible techniques for determining the temperature dependence shown by the dimensionless figure of merit ( zT) of a BiTe-based thermoelectric module from 50 to 320 K. An optimum current was selected to deduce the proper zT under a dominant Peltier heat. The comparison results indicated that the TH method enables a rapid estimation of zT, typically within several minutes. Although the measurement times for the IS (several minutes to hours) and TDIS (several minutes) methods were different, both the methods yielded comparable zT values, and the TDIS method was found to be more reliable for the module with zT > 0.02 and a resolution of 0.001. Furthermore, temperature stabilization of the measurement specimen using the TDIS method also emerged as one of the key factors that determined the accuracy and resolution of the zT estimation.

Abstract:
Common method variance (CMV) is an important concern in international marketing research because presumed substantive relationships may actually be due to shared method variance. Because method effects may vary systematically across cultures and countries, accounting for method effects in international marketing research is particularly critical. A systematic review of Journal of International Marketing articles published during a five-year period (2015–2019, N = 93) shows that (1) authors often report post hoc CMV tests but usually conclude that CMV is not an issue and (2) many post hoc tests are conducted using the Harman one-factor test and the marker variable technique, which have serious deficiencies for detecting and controlling CMV. Drawing on a classification and comparative evaluation of the most common statistical approaches for dealing with CMV, the authors recommend two approaches and propose a procedure for dealing with CMV in international marketing research. The procedure, which is based on multisample structural equation modeling, is illustrated with data from a cross-national pan-European survey (N = 11,970, 14 countries), which shows that even though method variance is present in the data, method effects do not seriously bias the substantive conclusions in this particular study.

AbstractThis paper investigates the consequences of taking seriously the metaphysics of Object-Oriented Ontology (OOO), as defined by Graham Harman, in the field of literature. Acutely focusing on just one possible mobilisation and application of the theory, the essay deploys OOO to read two major writers of the late 20th century, Don DeLillo and Murakami Haruki, in novel configurations made possible by applying an Object-Oriented method to the genre of Magic Realism. Using this method, the essay unearths an unarticulated avenue for studying the genre and these authors against established national, cultural, and canonical boundaries in literature, putting into conversation various literary traditions based on formal characteristics found in the texts through OOO’s metaphysics, and suggesting wholly untested paths for literary study in the wake of Object-Oriented philosophies.

Abstract:
Methods for studying thermoelectric parameters of semiconductors that are optimal for the implementation of software and hardware have been analyzed and selected. It is based on the Harman method and its modifications, adapted for pulse measurements, which are convenient to implement on a modern element base. An important advantage of these methods is the absence of the need for accurate measurements of heat fluxes, which greatly simplifies and reduces the time for conducting experimental research. The required operating ranges for the voltage 10 µV–1 V, for the current 10 µA–300 mA and the element base performance at the processing level of 40–200 million samples per second have been determined. Structural and electrical circuits, as well as software for a specialized computer system for studying thermoelectric parameters of both bulk and thin-film thermoelectric materials, and express analysis of the operational characteristics of finished modules have been developed. It has been shown that the proposed scheme copes well with the task. And the use of FPGA and 32-bit microcontrollers provide sufficient processing speed up to 200 MSPS and the necessary synchronization modes for the implementation of the Harman pulse method even when studying films of nanometer thickness. Experimental studies of both bulk thermoelectric modules based on Bi2Te3 and thin-film thermoelectric material based on PbTe have been carried out. The effectiveness of the developed tools and techniques has been shown, which made it possible to more than halve the time for sample preparation and experiment. Based on the presented models, all the main thermoelectric and operational parameters have been determined, in particular, electrical conductivity, Seebeck coefficient, thermal conductivity, thermoelectric figure of merit. As a result of the development of specialized computer tools, it was possible to reduce the labor intensity of the process of measuring the main electrical and operational parameters of semiconductor thermoelectric materials and energy conversion modules based on them, as well as to automate the process of defects identification of thermoelectric modules. The labor intensity of the research process has decreased not only due to the automation of the measurement process, but also due to an optimized technique that allows research on a sample of one configuration, since the manufacture and preparation of samples are the most laborious

Abstract:
The paper investigates the emergence of the phenomenon of new subjectness that arises from the integration of artificial and natural fields in contemporary socio-technical reality. It aims to challenge the subject-object dichotomy established by Modern philosophy tradition. To support this goal, the paper draws on the philosophical views of the proponents of Object-Oriented Ontology (Manuel DeLanda, Graham Harman) and Actor-Network theory (Bruno Latour, John Law). These contemporary philosophers substantiate the idea of distributed hybrid subjectness as the result of multiple network interactions, which can be interpreted using John Law's "method assemblage". This method disregards the attitudes of classical metaphysics and leads to the conclusion that new subjectivity arises from chaotic reality and manifests through the continuous formation and reformation of "bundles of relations". In those relations, it is impossible to differentiate between subject and object, as these roles roles are mobile and volatile.

Abstract:
This essay is a critical analysis of some themes in Wittgenstein’s later philosophy. It is not primarily Wittgenstein-exegesis. Much more modestly, my purpose is to express my own thoughts about some questions which Wittgenstein has treated in his writings. It is the second in a series of two articles. The first article, “Remarks on Wittgenstein’s Philosophy: Private Language and Meaning", was published in Volume 42, 2007, of the present YEARBOOK. Section 1, “Philosophical Method”. Wittgenstein’s conception of philosophy as language therapy is criticised. Instead philosophy is construed as foundational research. Wittgenstein’s statement that mathematical logic cannot contribute to progress in philosophy is repudiated. Several examples of ideas and results in mathematical logic which have led to the solution of philosophical problems are given. Section 2, “Contradictions: The Wittgenstein- Turing Debate”. In lectures on the foundations of mathematics given in 1939, Wittgenstein claimed that contradictions in mathematical theories are harmless. A debate ensued on this question between him and Alan Turing. In support of Turing's standpoint, I use the theorem on Taylor series, Church's Theorem, and Gentzen’s Cut-Elimination Theorem to show that Wittgenstein’s standpoint is untenable. For orientation, I also include here the abstract for the first article in the series, “Remarks on Wittgenstein’s Philosophy: Private Language and Meaning”. Section 1, “The Private Language Argument”. An independent argument is given for Wittgenstein’s thesis that there is no private language. I show that psychological terms in ordinary language, in contrast to an implication of Wittgenstein’s own private language argument, in their meanings do contain references to inner states, processes, and events. Section 2, “Meaning”. Wittgenstein’s definition of meaning as use in the language is criticised. Meaning is instead identified with something in the content of a conscious mind. Applications are given to some suggestions in the philosophy of language by Chomsky, Harman and Fodor, Grice, and Kripke.

Abstract:
The present study was conducted to explore the impact of novel water–oil mixed frying and traditional oil frying methods on the soybean oil quality and formation of trans fatty acids (TFAs) and heterocyclic amines (HCAs) in fried duck breast and skin during 60 frying cycles. The acid value of the soybean oil was 2.10 mg/g using the traditional oil frying and 1.08 mg/g using water–oil mixed frying at the 60th frying cycle. The peroxide value of the water–oil mixed fried soybean oil was significantly lower than that of the traditional frying method. Water–oil mixed frying delayed the formation of TFAs in the soybean oil. The traditionally oil fried skin showed increased TFAs (9tC16:1) content from 0.17 to 0.22 mg/g (29.4% increase), while those of the water–oil mixed fried samples increased from 0.16 to 0.20 mg/g (25.00% increase) compared to control. Harman, Norharman and AαC were detected in all the fried samples and PhIP was observed after the 20th frying cycle, while MeAαC was formed only at the 60th frying cycle in traditional fried duck breast. Therefore, it is concluded that the water–oil mixed frying method is more suitable to improve the quality and safety of fried duck skin and breast meat.

Abstract:
The depth of cooling of thermoelectric Peltier refrigerators, in which the branches of p - and n - conductivities are arranged in a line and connected to each other end-to-end or by means of a copper jumper, is calculated. The temperatures of the joints of the branches between themselves and between the branches and the copper jumper are calculated. The depth of cooling of these devices has been estimated. The effect of the Thomson effect on these temperatures has also been studied. The analysis of the received results is made, practical recommendations are given. A new model of an anisotropic thermoelectric refrigerator is considered, which should not be inferior to a standard Peltier refrigerator in terms of cooling efficiency. A technique for measuring the kinetic coefficients of low-temperature thermoelectrics is proposed, which makes it possible to get rid of the need to use alternating current in measurements, which leads to a significant simplification of the electrical circuit of the measuring installation. For the sake of completeness, Harman's method is described in detail. The theoretical foundations of the method for measuring the kinetic coefficients of thermoelectrics are described in detail. A simple method for measuring the coefficient of the Thomson electrothermal effect is proposed.

Abstract:
Hot extrusion of thermoelectric materials of large diameters is associated with the problem of preserving the deformation texture in them both in length and in cross-section. The paper shows for the first time the technology of obtaining polycrystals based on Bi2Te3 n- and p-type conductivity with a diameter of up to 35 mm, by hot extrusion. Detailed studies of the structural properties have been carried out. The mechanical properties (strength) of the crystals were measured. The thermoelectric properties of polycrystals of various diameters (the coefficient of thermal EMF α, electrical conductivity sigma and figure of merit Z by the Harman method) were measured. It is shown at the optimal technology polycrystals based on Bi2Te3 n- and p-type conductivity with a diameter of 35 mm were produced, which are comparable in thermoelectric and mechanical properties with polycrystals of traditional diameter (25 and 30 mm), which are currently commercially produced. Keywords: thermoelectricity, Bi2Te3, extrusion, thermoelectric properties, mechanical properties.

Abstract We investigate the distribution of αp modulo one in quadratic number fields 𝕂 with class number one, where p is restricted to prime elements in the ring of integers of 𝕂. Here we improve the relevant exponent 1/4 obtained by the first- and third-named authors for imaginary quadratic number fields [On the distribution of αp modulo one in imaginary quadratic number fields with class number one, J. Théor. Nombres Bordx. 32 (2020), no. 3, 719–760]) and by the first- and second-named authors for real quadratic number fields [Diophantine approximation with prime restriction in real quadratic number fields, Math. Z. (2021)] to 7/22. This generalizes a result of Harman [Diophantine approximation with Gaussian primes, Q. J. Math. 70 (2019), no. 4, 1505–1519] who obtained the same exponent 7/22 for ℚ (i) by extending his method which gave this exponent for ℚ [On the distribution of αp modulo one. II, Proc. London Math. Soc. 72, (1996), no. 3, 241–260]. Our proof is based on an extension of Harman’s sieve method to arbitrary number fields. Moreover, we need an asymptotic evaluation of certain smooth sums over prime ideals appearing in the above-mentioned work by the first- and second-named authors, for which we use analytic properties of Hecke L-functions with Größencharacters.

Abstract:
In this study, Ingots of (Bi, Sb)2Te3 thermoelectric material with p-type conductivity have been obtained by hot extrusion. The main regularities of hot extrusion of 30 mm rods have been analyzed with the aid of a mathematical simulation on the basis of the joint use of elastic-plastic body approximations. The phase composition, texture and microstructure of the (Bi, Sb)2Te3 solid solutions have been studied using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The thermoelectric properties have been studied using the Harman method. We show that extrusion through a 30 mm diameter die produces a homogeneous strain. The extruded specimens exhibit a fine-grained structure and a clear axial texture in which the cleavage planes are parallel to the extrusion axis. The quantity of defects in the grains of the (Bi, Sb)2Te3 thermoelectric material decreases with an increase in the extrusion rate. An increase in the extrusion temperature leads to a decrease in the Seebeck coefficient and an increase in the electrical conductivity. The specimens extruded at 450 °C and a 0.5 mm/min extrusion rate have the highest thermoelectric figure of merit (Z = 3.2 × 10−3 K−1).

Abstract:
Chinese prickly ash and cinnamon contain many antioxidants, which scavenge free radicals and can reduce many harmful compounds, such as heterocyclic aromatic amines (HAAs). Modern technologies used for cooking, such as the use of superheated steam roasting, are beneficial in decreasing the development of HAAs. The current study was based on the use of these two spices in roasted lamb patties to mitigate the formation of HAAs in superheated steam roasted patties. Results exhibited significant differences (p < 0.05) in the content of both polar and non-polar HAAs as compared to control patties. In cinnamon roasted patties, polar HAAs were reduced from 23.76 to 10.56 ng g−1, and non-polar HAAs were reduced from 21.34 to 15.47 ng g−1. In Chinese prickly ash patties, polar and non-polar HAAs were 43.60 ng g−1 and 35.74 ng g−1, respectively. Similarly, cinnamon-treated patties showed a significantly higher (p < 0.05) reduction in polar HAAs (23.52 to 12.41 ng g−1) than non-polar (16.08 to 9.51 ng g−1) at concentrations of 0.5–1.5%, respectively, as compared to the control, with 45.81 ng g−1 polar and 35.09 ng g−1 non-polar HAAs. The polar HAAs tested were PhIP, DMIP, IQx, and 8-MeIQx, while the non-polar were harman and norharman. Both spices and superheated steam controlled HAAs to a significant level in lamb meat patties.

Abstract:
This study sought to explore the impact of green human resource management on organizational identification and employees’ eco-friendly behavior, as well as the mediating role of organizational identification in the relationship between green human resource management and employees’ eco-friendly behavior. To achieve the study objectives, a cross-sectional quantitative study was developed, for which the data were obtained through a structured questionnaire containing the measures of the study variables. Data were collected from 235 employees from several Portuguese tourism organizations participating in the study. The Harman test and bootstrapping were applied previously to the assessment of the results. The mediation study’s hypothesis was evaluated using Baron and Kenny’s linear regression method, and subsequently complemented using the Sobel test. The findings showed that the implementation of green HRM practices in tourism organizations has a positive impact on employees’ eco-friendly behavior and on organizational identification, with the latter mediating the relationship between green human resource management and employees’ eco-friendly behavior. The study is breaking new ground because it incorporates the impact of green human resource management on organizational identification and employees’ eco-friendly behavior in a single research model, thus expanding knowledge on the subject, namely in the tourism sector in Portugal.

Abstract:
The formation of heterocyclic amines (HAs) in the fumes from frying French fries in soybean oil or lard was studied. A high-pressure liquid chromatography method was used to determine the various HAs in fumes. Results showed that the yields of fumes produced from soybean oil when heated alone for 2 or 4 h were higher than from lard; however, a reversed trend was found when frying French fries in soybean oil and lard. Most fumes from soybean oil and lard while frying French fries were adsorbed onto the condensation apparatus, while the other portions were adsorbed onto the wool and glass beads, which were incorporated in our experimental design for collecting the fumes. The fumes from soybean oil when heated alone were found to contain three HAs, namely, 2-amino-3-methylimidazo[4,5-f ]quinoxaline (IQx), 2-amino-3-methylimidazo[4,5-f ]quinoline (IQ), and 1-methyl-9H-pyrido[4,3-b ]indole (Harman), whereas two more HAs, 2-amino-3,4-dimethylimidazo[4,5-f ]quinoline (MeIQ) and 3-amino-1,4-dimethyl-5H-pyrido[4,3-b ]indole (Trp-P-1), were generated in lard. Lard was more susceptible to the formation of HAs than soybean oil when both were heated alone. No HAs were detected in the fumes from French fries fried in soybean oil and lard.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between the combined (multiplicative) effect of board governance and intellectual capital (IC) on firm performance. Design/methodology/approach – This study is cross-sectional and follows a positivist view of testing pre-specified hypotheses. The study uses a respondent sample of 128 service firms operating in Kampala, directors or managers are the unit of enquiry. Structural equation modelling with analysis of moment structures is used for statistical modelling. Findings – Board governance and IC make significant contributions to firm performance. However, their interaction is a significant booster to services sector firms’ performance in Uganda. Research limitations/implications – Although an attempt is made at controlling for common method variance in particular by proactive instrument design and testing, and usage of the Harman single factor analytical technique, its influence may not have been dealt away completely owing to failure to obtain a plausible common marker variable. Well, it is meaningful to identify the significant positive multiplicative effects of board governance and IC so as uncover what is needed in service firms to improve their performance. Originality/value – Studies explaining firm performance via board governance only and which ignored the synergistic effects of board governance and IC have often missed the reality that the performance of the firm can significantly be improved by means of leveraging IC while simultaneously calling for effective board governance.

Abstract:
This essay is a critical analysis of some themes in Wittgenstein’s later philosophy. It is not primarily Wittgenstein-exegesis. Much more modestly, my purpose is to express my own thoughts about some questions which Wittgenstein has treated in his writings. It is the first in a series of two articles. The second article, “Remarks on Wittgenstein’s Philosophy: Philosophical Method and Contradictions”, will occur in next year’s issue of the present YEARBOOK. Section 1, “The Private Language Argument”. An independent argument is given for Wittgenstein’s thesis that there is no private language. I show that psychological terms in ordinary language, in contrast to an implication of Wittgenstein’s own private language argument, in their meanings do contain references to inner states, processes, or events. Section 2, “Meaning”. Wittgenstein’s definition of meaning as use in the language is criticised. Meaning is instead identified with something in the content of a conscious mind. Applications are given to some suggestions in philosophy of language by Chomsky, Grice, Harman and Fodor, and Kripke. For orientation, I also include here the abstract for the second article, “Remarks on Wittgenstein’s Philosophy: Philosophical Method and Contradictions”. Section 2, “Contradictions: The Wittgenstein-Turing Debate”. In lectures on the foundations of mathematics given in 1939, Wittgenstein claimed that contradictions in mathematical theories are harmless. A debate ensued on this question between him and Alan Turing. In support of Turing’s standpoint, I use the theorem on Taylor series, Church’s Theorem, and Gentzen’s Cut-Elimination Theorem to show that Wittgenstein’s standpoint is untenable.

Abstract:
Background Pain is a major public health problem in the Global South, particularly among marginalized communities, such as Somali pastoralists. Yet, the topic of chronic pain has not yet been comprehensively studied in Sub-Saharan Africa, specifically in the Somali region of Ethiopia. Therefore, this study aims to explore the perceptions and notions of chronic pain among Somali pastoralists in this context. Methods This study used an explorative qualitative design. We performed semi-structured, face-to-face interviews with 20 purposively selected female and male Somali pastoralists with chronic pain. For data analysis, we applied the Framework Method by Gale et al. and explained patterns drawing on the Enactive Approach to Pain proposed by Stilwell and Harman. Findings Six different themes emerged: (1) “Pain as a symptom of harsh daily life”, (2) “Pain descriptions and dimensions”, (3) “Temporality of pain”, (4) “Pain-related stigma and stoicism” (5) “Mediating role of spirituality”, and (6) “Impact of pain on daily life activities”. Conclusions Somali pastoralists described their chronic pain as a multicausal and relational experience. Pastoralists (especially women) commonly refrained from communicating their pain and represented aspects of social stigma and stoicism. The mediating role of spirituality aided pastoralists to make sense of their pain and to ease its impact on their harsh daily life. The findings of this study can contribute to raise awareness of chronic pain issues among pastoralists. They highlight the need for policymakers to prioritize the improvement of pastoralist-specific pain management. Necessary resources and skills should be available within health care facilities. Pain management should be accessible, affordable and culturally acceptable for this population.

Abstract:
BACKGROUND Stroke patients often experience psychological distress, which can impact their intimate relationships with spouses, subsequently influencing their treatment and recovery. Physical activity is considered a key rehabilitation method for stroke patients. This paper aims to analyze whether psychological distress affects intimate relationship between spouses through physical activity. AIM To explore the mediating effect of physical activity between psychological distress and intimate relationship in stroke patients. METHODS A total of 256 stroke patients who underwent treatment at the First People’s Hospital of Shangqiu between July 2021 and July 2022 were enrolled in this study. The participants completed questionnaires, including the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10), the Quality of Relationship Index (QRI), International Physical Activity Questionnaire, and a general information questionnaire. Data analysis were performed using SPSS 23.0. The Harman test was employed to detect common method deviations, and Spearman correlation was used for correlation analysis. The mediating effect was assessed using Process 3.4.1, with significance testing of the regression coefficients conducted using the bias-corrected percentile Bootstrap method (5000 iterations, 95% confidence interval). Statistical significance was set at P < 0.05. RESULTS The results showed that patients scored an average of 21.61 ± 6.44 points on the K10, 32.40 ± 6.19 points on the QRI; the median physical activity level according to the International Physical Activity Questionnaire was 1861 (566, 2846) MET·min/w. The level of physical activity (the physical activity intensity of the patients reflected by the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Long Form scale) negatively correlated with psychological distress and intimacy (P < 0.05), and positively correlated with each other (P < 0.05), with the correlation stronger at lower physical activity levels compared to higher ones. The mediating effect of physical activity between psychological distress and intimate relationship was calculated to be 40.23%. Bootstrap analysis further validated the results. The mediating effect of psychological distress on intimate relationships through physical activity level was -0.284, with a confidence interval of -0.409 to -0.163, excluding 0, confirming a significant mediating effect of psychological distress on intimate relationships. CONCLUSION Physical activity significantly affects relationship between psychological distress and intimate relationships among stroke patients. Addressing the role of physical activity may have implications for improving patient outcomes and rehabilitation strategies.

Abstract:
The article aims to analyze the relations between objects in the object-oriented ontology of Graham Harman. The authors consider Harman’s concept to be one of the main achievements of modern philosophy. This concept makes it possible to overcome the problem of objectivity as such and to gain access to the object uncorrelated by the subject of knowledge. Using the presented scheme of the object, the authors postulate the absence of the subject and subject-object relations based on correlations. Thus, the problem of objectivity is solved in a radical way. However, Harman’s object-oriented ontology does not explain how the relations between uncorrelated objects occur. It is essential to find the way to describe the mechanism of interaction between objects in which the object remains real, i.e. uncorrelated, and at the same time sensual, accessible for perception and interaction. That is why the authors turn to Jacques Derrida’s concept of deconstruction. Its application to the analysis of relations between objects in Graham Harman’s object-oriented ontology allows the authors to deabsolutize correlationism as the only possible way of relations between objects, and at the same time to preserve it as a way of interaction between objects. The nature of the relations between objects can be logically explained by the philosophy of Albert Camus, through combining his method of cognition with the principle of deconstruction. Using this method, the authors come to a conclusion that correlations necessarily arise when objects interact, which allows them to manifest themselves as accessible. However, the existence of objects by themselves takes place without correlations. They are a condition for the appearance of a sensory object, but they are not possible with the existence of real objects on their own. The method proposed shows that the relations of objects represent an inextricable duality of the sensual and the real object, which is manifested in their knowable-unknowable nature. Studying the nature of interaction between objects in Graham Harman’s object-oriented ontology with the help of this method allows better understanding of the problem of objectivity as such. This issue requires further, more extensive, study and discussion.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between an employee’s beliefs about organizational ethics, career commitment (CC), affective commitment (AC) and career satisfaction (CS). The model expands the earlier work commitment models with CS as the outcome variable. Design/methodology/approach – Subjects were drawn from a 2014 survey of frontline and middle level executives from the insurance sector in India using a structured questionnaire from six Indian insurance companies, 252 were analyzed with structural equation modeling. Findings – The results indicate that executive perceptions about organizational ethics are important for both commitment and satisfaction. Ethical practices at work have a positive outcome on CC, AC and CS. The role of career commitment as a mediator in the relationship between ethics, AC and CS is evident. Research limitations/implications – It is a cross-section study restricted to a single group with similar demographic characteristics. Hence, generalizability of the findings need further research among different groups. Common method variance is addressed using Harman single factor test. Practical/implications – By working out ethical practices in the organization and developing a culture with clarity in business policies and financial constraints to stakeholders, the organizations can win employee commitment and satisfaction. Originality/value – The theoretical contribution of this paper lies in its inclusive approach encompassing the ethical belief of individual with commitment and CS. It differs from earlier studies that have shown the influence of protestant work ethic on commitment. It highlights the similarities and differences between several work commitment models developed in a western context, and the model that we have developed in the Indian context.

Abstract:
Diabetic foot (DF) ulcer is one of the common complications of diabetic patients, with high incidence and amputation rate, which seriously affects the quality of life and health of patients. Therefore, how to effectively prevent and treat DF ulcers and reduce amputation rate has become an urgent problem in the medical field. As a comprehensive nursing model for patients with DF ulcers, comprehensive nursing intervention is designed to improve the therapeutic effect and prognosis and reduce the rate of amputation. Convenient sampling method was used to select 360 patients with DF who received routine care for DF ulcers from July 2013 to July 2023 for retrospective cohort analysis. According to the existence of exposure factors (comprehensive nursing intervention), 180 cases were divided into observation group and comparison group. The basic demographic data, amputation rate, severity of foot ulcer, neuropathy and vascular disease, and blood glucose control were compared between the 2 groups. The data was analyzed using SPSS26.0. Harman single factor test was used to check whether there was common method bias in the study data. Descriptive analysis, Spearman rank correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were used to analyze the current situation of amputation rate of DF patients and the influence of comprehensive nursing intervention on the amputation rate of DF patients. The amputation rate was 2.8% in the Observation group compared to 8.3% in the Comparison group. The amputation rate of the observation group was generally higher in the age group, and the amputation rate of the observation group was higher in the middle school education level and below and the economic status of <5000 yuan. The difference was statistically significant (P < .05). Age (odds ratio [OR] = 1.96; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.88–4.38), education level (OR = 1.30; 95% CI: 1.69–6.46), economic status (OR = 2.28; 95% CI: 1.69–10.85) was an independent risk factor for amputation rate (P < .05). Comprehensive nursing interventions have played a positive role in reducing the rate of amputation in patients with DF.

Abstract:
The daily census of inpatients is a means of supplementing medical records in reporting. Given the importance of the inpatient census, its management should be supported by medical record officers who have good knowledge and skills. The method obtained from 3 journals was then analyzed by descriptive method. The method used is Literature Study, carried out with a data set technique to review books, literature search, notes and reports related to research. From some of the literature studied, it was found that there was a discrepancy in the implementation of the inpatient daily census, this can be seen from the indiscipline in filling out the Inpatient Daily Census due to the absence of fixed procedures and technical instructions containing all activities that must be carried out by inpatient ward officers. Other factors are: Man, Money, Methode, inadequate human resources, no socialization of inpatient daily census recording officers with ward nurses, minimal infrastructure, SOPs governing the daily census have not been implemented, and the monitoring process of evaluation of the daily inpatient census is still not regularly scheduled. This is what makes most of the process of conducting the daily census of hospitalizations has not been carried out properly in hospitals.

Abstract:
This article presents a philosophical analysis of algorithms through the synthesis of Edmund Husserl’s concept of intentionality and Martin Heidegger’s instrumentality, revealing their ontological status as phenomena that connect consciousness and practical activity. The author proposes a synthetic model integrating three key aspects: the instrumental nature of algorithms, which «disappear» during use by focusing attention on the result (Heidegger); their intentional essence as products of consciousness directed toward constituting objects through formalization (Husserl); and Quentin Meillassoux’s concept of contingency, which frames algorithms as temporary stabilizations of a fundamentally unstable reality. The study examines the dual role of algorithms: as operational tools organizing activity through functional predetermination and as structures defining the knowable boundaries of reality. Meillassoux’s critique of correlationism serves as the basis for rethinking algorithmic rationality within the context of radical openness of being, where formalization confronts inherent unpredictability. Using examples such as stochastic algorithms (Monte Carlo method, genetic algorithms), emergent properties of neural networks, and the «black box» phenomenon, the article demonstrates the dialectic between planned functionality and spontaneous manifestations of contingency. Algorithms emerge as a paradoxical unity: on one hand, they act as «transparent» tools of technical rationality; on the other, they reveal «uncontrolled materiality», exposing the limits of formalization and determinism. The theoretical significance of the research lies in developing a comprehensive approach that interprets algorithms as: 1) a principle for implementing the scientific method, 2) a mediator between subject and object, and 3) an operationalization of digital-era rationality. These findings contribute to contemporary debates on the nature of artificial intelligence and machine learning, emphasizing the need to integrate philosophical reflection into the analysis of technological systems. The work also offers a new perspective on algorithmic rationality as a dynamic process balancing order and chaos, which is crucial for understanding the epistemological challenges of the 21st century. Within the framework of object-oriented ontology (OOO), it is shown how algorithms simultaneously belong to the realms of the ideal and the material, shaping new modes of interaction with reality. Special attention is paid to the role of randomness in modern computational systems, which, contrary to traditional views, becomes a necessary element of efficiency, confirming Meillassoux’s thesis of contingency as a fundamental property of being. The findings of the study suggest that the algorithm functions not only as a technical tool but also as a practice of rationality. To demonstrate this, the algorithm is examined as a phenomenon that synthesizes instrumentality (M. Heidegger) and intentionality (E. Husserl) within the framework of object-oriented ontology (G. Harman, Q. Meillassoux). Methodologically, the study draws on speculative-realist critique.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTBackground: Stimulation of inflammatory cells such as polymorphonuclear cells (PMN) will initiate to release free radicals in destroying bacteria. Excessive free radicals can damage cells in the body. Antioxidants as one of the body's defense systems will neutralize existing free radicals. Chitosan from Haruan scales in addition to being antimicrobial turned out to also be antioxidants. Objective: To know the antioxidant potential of chitosan from haruan (Channa striata) scales. Methods: This study is a pure experimental (true experimental design) with a post-test only with control group design using two treatment groups, with quantitative tests to calculate the amount of antioxidant activity of chitosan from fish scales using DPPH radical reduction method. The first treatment is 4, 6, 8 and 10 ppm standard ascorbic acid concentration with DPPH solution as positive control, and the second treatment is 200, 250, 300 and 350 ppm chitosan from Haruan scales concentration with DPPH solution. Results: The results showed that chitosan from Haruan fish scales have antioxidant activity with 50.513% percentage of inhibition at a maximum concentration of 350 ppm with an IC50 value of 356.98 ppm. The results of the independent T-test showed that there was a significant difference between the inhibition percentage of chitosan from haruan fish scales and the inhibition percentage of ascorbic acid (p = 0,000) (p <0.05). Conclusion: Chitosan from Haruan fish scales proved to have antioxidant activity. Keywords: Antioxidants, Chitosan, Haruan fish scalesABSTRACTBackground: Stimulation of inflammatory cells such as polymorphonuclear cells (PMN) will initiate to release free radicals in destroying bacteria.
