Abstract:
The rate of hydrolysis of poly(methyl methacrylate) increases with the content of meso(isotactic) diads in the polymer. The increase in the rate of hydrolysis of isotactic polymers is due to an intramolecular nucleophilic attack by the adjacent carboxylic ion on the carbonyl carbon atom in the ester group. An analysis of the content of sequences of variously arranged ester and carboxylic groups shows that the hydrolysis of s-poly(methyl methacrylate) is a random process, while i-poly(methyl methacrylate) is hydrolyzed gradually (by zip mechanism), starting from the carboxylate group formed by

Poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)-graft-cellulose nanofibers (CeNFs) (PMMA-g-CeNF) were synthesized by means of graft-polymerization using Azo initiator in aqueous medium. The synthesized grafted fibers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Then, PMMA-g-CeNF were hydrolyzed by acid hydrolysis method with different acid constant and hydrolysis time and characterized by gel permeation chromatography (GPC). Finally, PMMA-g-CeNF was characterized by thermo-gravimetric and differential thermal analyses (TG-DTA).

This paper describes a simple and economic approach for fabrication of surface wettability gradient on poly(butyl acrylate – methyl methacrylate) [P (BA–MMA)] and poly(butyl acrylate – methyl methacrylate – 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) [P (BA–MMA–HEMA)] films. The (meth)acrylate copolymer [including P (BA–MMA) and P (BA–MMA–HEMA)] films are hydrolyzed in an aqueous solution of NaOH and the transformation of surface chemical composition is achieved by hydrolysis in NaOH solution. The gradient wetting properties are generated based on different functional groups on the P (BA–MMA) and P (BA–MMA–H

Subsequently, the estrone molecules were hydrolyzed and extracted using a solvent to form a molecular-imprinted system. The estrone-imprinted gold plate was then used as a working electrode to measure the estrone recognition ability through electrochemical methods. The recognition ability of this working electrode was evaluated for similar compounds. The selectivity factors for the seven estrone analogs were measured, and these values ranged

Uniform and nearly monodisperse superparamagnetic Fe3O4/Poly(methyl methacrylate) (core)/SiO2 (shell) nanoparticles with raspberry-like morphology and high saturation magnetization were prepared in three different steps. At first, a facile, one-shot procedure to synthesize hydrophobic Fe3O4 nanoparticles through a modified co-precipitation method was implemented. Based on the hydrophobic interactions, these nanoparticles were used directly in a mini-emulsion polymerization resulting in encapsulation with PMMA. ABSTRACT This paper discusses the use of solvent-gel systems for the cleaning of poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) surfaces. Aqueous polymer gel systems have been introduced to the conservation field with a particular focus on paintings, painted surfaces of wooden artefacts and stone. However, their application on plastics is very recent. Statistically designed experiments aimed to assess the efficiency and damage potential of materials constituting selected solvent-gel cleaning systems. However, a complex network of artificial fractures with sizes ranging from millimeters to micrometers restricts the transportation application and reaction time of standard breakers and current millimeter-sized capsule breakers.
