Abstract:
This empirical study aims to elucidate the effects of logistics information technology (LIT), top management beliefs (TMBs), and suppliers' resources selection (SRS) on logistics performance. The extended resources-based view (ERBV) supports the development of the proposed relationships in the study model, based on previous studies measures. Structural equation modeling (SPSS and AMOS v 25) was utilized to test the validity of the model and proposed hypotheses. Based on responses from 229 surveyed companies in Sudan’s food and beverages sector, this study’ findings showed that the LIT, TMBs, and SRS influence logistic cost performance (LCP) and logistic delivery performance directly. Additionally, it showed that company size could moderate the relationship between LCP and LIT, TMBs, and SRS. This study provides several theoretical and practical implications by evaluating the ability of LIT, SRS, and TMBs to improve delivery and cost performance.

Overfitting is a common problem in the development of predictive models. It leads to an optimistic estimation of apparent model performance. Internal validation using bootstrapping techniques allows one to quantify the optimism of a predictive model and provide a more realistic estimate of its performance measures. Abstract:
In the context of the current dynamic environment, the complexity of socio-economic objects stipulates the increased requirements for their analysis. The field of strategic logistic management is not an exception. The logistic potential is considered as a control object. Formation elements of the potential determine the conditions for the successful implementation of the selected logistic strategy of an enterprise. The potential of managerial logistic personnel, technological personnel, logistic infrastructure, product and technological innovations in logistics, marketing research, organizational and transfer potential are considered as logistic potential elements. Problems concerning substantiation of logistic strategy selection, determination of the internal conditions to provide its efficient implementation, as well as quantitative measurement of the conditions, are still unstudied. The purpose of the paper is to carry out functional and cost analysis (FCA) of logistic potential elements of an enterprise to estimate the correspondence of the internal conditions to the selected logistic strategy. Methodology. FCA as a method of research is used. The sequence of the FCA implementation and characteristic of its main stages are considered in the paper. Special attention is paid to expert assessments of the significance of logistic potential elements which are regarded as internal conditions for the strategic changes realization in the area of enterprise logistics. To do that, the paper applies techniques of priority ranking and pairwise comparisons. The consistency of the obtained results is proved statistically. Statistic factor of the relative range has been applied to characterize the dispersion of individual significances obtained for each logistic potential element. Results. The paper has developed a sequence of the FCA implementation with the characterization of its basic stages. There has been described preparatory, information, analytical, research, and recommendation stages. The proposed sequence matches a traditional concept of the FCA stages. However, their contents vary depending upon object specifics, identification of objectives and tasks of carrying out analysis. Value/originality. The results of the study in the form of the expert evaluation of the significance of the logistic potential elements give an opportunity to plan the costs connected with the introduction of strategic changes in the field of an enterprise logistics.

Abstract:
The objective of the research was to analyse the main components of internal logistics costs that are shown in the process of Peruvian coffee exports in the period 2015-2019. This study used various government sources, document review, and extraction of information systems. To do this we take into account 6 departments with greater coffee production, connected with three logistics corridors that have as a starting point the production areas and reach the export channels of Callao and Paita. Also, using the information gathered from the logistics performance index, a brief internal transport comparison was made between Peru and Colombia. As a result, the logistic cost of both countries is higher than 14.1% (Latin American average), taking into account that in both countries the only internal logistic component in which they coincide is transportation. It is concluded that national transportation hurts impact on logistics costs, since these are affected in the final price of coffee and the profitability of the Peruvian farmer.

Abstract:
Collaborative behaviour and various aspects of comparing collaboration with coordination and cooperation present the basis for more detailed assumptions concerning the importance of integrating logistic function with the marketing function. The collaborative behaviour dimension of inter-functional integration presents a system of mutual visions, decision-making and collective responsibility to provide results, services or a product. Logisticians often define integration within the framework of the supply chain, yet they neglect the internal integration or the integration between individual departments or functions in a company. Defining internal integration and its level as well as the connection with the level of collaborative behaviour is the basis of the research part of this paper. The quantitative research part studies whether and to what extent collaborative behaviour influences the level of internal integration between logistic and marketing functions. The research is based on a quantitative analysis of results of the survey that was conducted in Slovene retail companies. Abstract:
Abstract Background: The aim of this study was to explore whether electronically retrieved laboratory data can predict mortality in internal medicine departments in a regional hospital. Methods: All 10 308 patients hospitalized in internal medicine departments over a 1-year period were included in the cohort. Nearly all patients had a complete blood count and basic clinical chemistries on admission. We used logistic regression analysis to predict the 573 deaths (5.6%), including all variables that added significantly to the model. Results: Eight laboratory variables and age significantly and independently contributed to a logistic regression model (area under the ROC curve, 88.7%). The odds ratio for the final model per quartile of risk was 6.44 (95% confidence interval, 5.42–7.64), whereas for age alone, the odds ratio per quartile was 2.01 (95% confidence interval, 1.84–2.19). Conclusions: A logistic regression model including only age and electronically retrieved laboratory data highly predicted mortality in internal medicine departments in a regional hospital, suggesting that age and routine admission laboratory tests might be used to ensure a fair comparison when using mortality monitoring for hospital quality control.

Abstract:
The importance of efficient logistics for trade growth is widely acknowledged. Literature has shown that better logistics performance is strongly associated with trade expansion, export diversification, ability to attract foreign direct investments, and economic growth. On the other hand, international trade represents a challenge to logistic operations in transporting and storing products. High logistic costs and low quality of services may be considered obstacles to international trade. This research aims to assess Brazil’s Logistics Performance Index (LPI) in relation to its major competitors in international trade. The international trade data was collected from SECEX and COMTRADE, while the LPI was provided by the World Bank. Statistical techniques such as cluster analysis and multiple comparison tests of means have been applied to analyze the data. After using LPI index for the 39 competitors, it has been observed that Brazil occupies the 26th position in the rank of performers, behind South Africa, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The top performers are in general the leading exporters and importers worldwide (Germany, U.S.A., Japan and the Netherlands). Furthermore, they are the strongest competitors of Brazil in international trade. Thus, the competitiveness of Brazilian domestic firms depends crucially on a dynamic and competitive internal logistic environment in order to stand up to these countries. The results also indicate the bureaucracy as a major obstacle to the logistic performance of the country. The dimension Timeliness of Brazil is very close to the High Logistics Performance Group (HLPG) while Customs is very close to the Low Logistics Performance Group (LLPG). Although Brazil has failed in its customs operations, there seems to be more credibility in Brazilian dealings. The main contribution of this paper is to reveal logistical aspects in which Brazil has shown large inefficiencies. The difference among the logistic performance indexs also appears to be relevant to governments to address their new public policies and also to highlight the logistic obstacles of the Brazilian international trade.

Abstract:
This study estimated the effect of socio-economic factors on internal migration for Pakistan using the Labor Force Survey data, 2013. This study used a sample of 26013 observations. Both bi-variate and multivariate Logistic and Probit analysis were performed. Estimates of Logistic and Probit regressions show that gender has negative and statistically significant effect on migration. Similarly, marriage also has a negative effect on migration indicating as individual gets married, their log-likelihood of migration decreases. Income is statistically significant determinant of migration as analysis exhibited that as income increased, the log-likelihood of internal migration increased too. Education and employment do not determine migration. This study can be used in planning internal migration as for developing countries like Pakistan socioeconomic factors are important determinants of migration. Providing employment and income opportunities can significantly help in reducing the migration. Besides socioeconomic factors, further investigation is required to better understand the perception of individuals with respect to internal migration which this study could not tackle because of nonexistence of such data in the labour force survey.

Difficulty in incrementing knowledge when a neural network acts as a robotic controller arises when network operates unlike in the past due to disturbance by neurons added by genetic operators. To evolve a network robust against such internal noise, we propose adding noise generators to neurons. We show the effectiveness of the application of a logistic chaos noise generator to neurons by comparing several noise generators.

Abstract:
International and internal service logistics are advancing at a tremendous pace in our modern life, and future forecasts for this area are optimistic. For this reason, we face a task in the control, optimization and safety and security checking of complex logistical systems with many internal agents working in a changing environment. Our paper aims to show how mathematical modeling, especially behavior algebra, can provide an opportunity for predicting the behavior and stability of logistics environments and checking their safety and security properties. The main security properties of complex logistics systems of different capacities and levels are stability of operation, resistance to external threats and detection and elimination of vulnerabilities. During the development of software systems, it is advisable to use a model approach. It involves the creation of models as tools at every stage of software development for the application of verification, testing and validation methods. Algebraic models of logistics systems can be used to analyze the behavior of all agents involved and to prove their ability to fulfill their goals and the ability of the whole system to constantly exist and remain stable. As examples of practical use the application in practice of algebra of behaviors on an example of the operating closed logistic system of a farm is considered.

Abstract:
We propose a new chaotic map combined with delay and cascade, called tent delay-sine cascade with logistic map (TDSCL). Compared with the original one-dimensional simple map, the proposed map has increased initial value sensitivity and internal randomness and a larger chaotic parameter interval. The chaotic sequence generated by TDSCL has pseudo-randomness and is suitable for image encryption. Based on this chaotic map, we propose an image encryption algorithm with a symmetric structure, which can achieve confusion and diffusion at the same time. Simulation results show that after encryption using the proposed algorithm, the entropy of the cipher is extremely close to the ideal value of eight, and the correlation coefficients between the pixels are lower than 0.01, thus the algorithm can resist statistical attacks. Moreover, the number of pixel change rate (NPCR) and the unified average changing intensity (UACI) of the proposed algorithm are very close to the ideal value, which indicates that it can efficiently resist chosen-plain text attack.

BackgroundResidents in internal medicine programmes lack formal training in leadership, curriculum development and clinical teaching. Residency programmes created clinician-educator tracks (CETs) to formally teach residents to become effective educators and to involve them in the science of medical education. However, the curricula in these tracks are often locally developed and remain at the discretion of the individual programmes.MethodsThis survey evaluates the frequency of CETs in internal medicine residency programmes in the USA and descriptively analyses their logistical and curricular content. During the academic year 2017–2018, directors of all Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited internal medicine residency programmes in the USA were invited to participate in this survey (n=420). We developed a web-based 22-question survey to assess the logistics and curricular content of CET programmes.ResultsA total of 150 programmes responded to the survey invitation (response rate=35.7%). Only 24% (n=36) of programmes offered a CET, the majority of which have been available for only 5 years or less. The track is most frequently offered to postgraduate year (PGY)-2 and PGY-3 residents. Only a minority of participating faculty (27.8%) have protected time to fulfil their CET role. Bedside teaching, feedback, small group teaching and curriculum development are the most commonly taught topics, and faculty mentorship and small group teaching methods are the most commonly used types of instruction.ConclusionsCETs are offered in only 24% of internal medicine residency programmes in the USA. The curricula of these tracks vary across programmes, and their success is often countered by logistic and financial challenges.

Logistic regression analysis was utilized to predict the retention of 477 master's and 124 doctoral candidates at a large Canadian university. Selected demographic (e.g., sex, marital status, age, citizenship), academic (e.g., GPA, discipline, type of study, time to degree completion) and financial support variables (e.g., funding received from internal and external scholarships and from research, graduate and teaching assistantships) were used as independent variables. The dichotomous dependent variable was whether the student successful- ly completed the degree. Results for master's students indicate that higher graduate GPAs, increased length of time in the program, increased funding from all sources, full- or part-time registration status in the coursework only program, and full-time registration status in the coursework plus major research paper program significantly improve the student's chances of graduating with the degree. For doctoral candidates, only increased length of time in the program and increased funding from all sources significantly increase the chances of graduating with the doctorate.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT External auditors and management increasingly rely on control risk assessments conducted by internal auditors. Consequently, it is crucial to ensure the quality of such assessments and identify irregular instances that deviate from the normal pattern of assessments. Moreover, processing and prioritizing a large number of outlying internal auditors' assessments can help their superiors as well as external auditors overcome the human limitations of dealing with information overload and direct their investigations toward the more suspicious cases, consequently improving overall audit efficiency. In this paper, we use historic data consisting of control risk assessments procured from the internal audit department of a multinational consumer products company. It is used to infer an ordered logistic regression model to provide a quality review of internal auditors' and business owners' assessments of internal controls. We identify anomalous cases where the assessment does not conform to the expected value and develop a methodology to prioritize these outliers. The results indicate that the proposed model can serve as a quality review tool, thus improving audit efficiency, as well as a learning tool that non-experts can employ to gain expert-like knowledge. Additionally, the proposed ranking metrics proved effective in helping the auditors focus their efforts on the more problematic audits.

Abstract:
This study seeks to analyze if the national culture has an effect on different characteristics of the internal audit function (IAF). Using an international sample of companies from different industries together with the five cultural dimensions of Hofstede (2001) as proxies for national culture, this study analyzes how cultural differences across countries affect the structure and work of the internal audit function (IAF). In doing so, we estimate linear, logistic and ordered logistic regressions to test the effects of the different country-level cultural variables on our dependent IAF variables. While our research focus is unique, a recent paper by Bik and Hooghiemstra (2017), which has a different purpose and examines the effect of national culture on auditor-in-charge involvement, uses a similar regression approach. The results show a positive association between the different cultural dimensions, e.g. long-term orientation and uncertainty avoidance, and an objective and independent IAF. In contrast, other dimensions do not seem to be supportive for an objective and independent IAF. This exploratory study contributes to the literature in at least two ways. First, a new research approach and dimension of IAF research is used. Second, the findings indicate that different cultural dimensions have significant effects on specific IAF characteristics. The findings can help internal audit practitioners and their stakeholders to double-check if specific dimensions of national culture have an impact on IAFs’ characteristics. This study uses a unique research focus and an international dataset to examine the influence of national culture on IAF in multiple dimensions. All five Hofstede’s cultural dimensions are used to obtain a holistic of view on the effects of national and they are linked to relevant proxies which describe the culture and work of the IAF. Our results should open new research streams on internationalization and effects of culture on the IAF.

Abstract:
The purpose – The purpose of this paper is based on the fact that managing supply chains as a separate area of business management opens up numerous possibilities for improving the competitive position of business systems. Supply chain management is increasingly often named as the key offensive factor to increasing the efficacy and effectiveness of economic systems. Design – The purpose of the paper is to point to the fact that hospitality logistics fulfils its basic mission only then when high quality products are delivered to the right place, at the right time, in the appropriate assortment, with the lowest internal and external costs, while doing their maximum to meet the wishes, needs and the demand of the customers. Methodology – The methodology is based on proving the proposed hypothesis: Modern logistics traffic represents a condition sine qua non of rational supply chain management in hospitality. Approach – The approach of the paper is based on the fact that supply chain management represents a broader, strategically significant concept which includes the entire supply chain and has the following goals: customer satisfaction, formulating and implementing appropriate strategies and effective supply chain management. Findings – Although each modality of the traffic logistic system has its own specific mission, they all have a common basic mission: to prepare material goods for manipulation, transport and distribution, the actual transport and distribution of material goods and conducting various logistic activities connected to preparing, manipulating, transporting and distributing material goods. The originality of this research – The originality of this research is revisiting the traffic logistics model as an exclusive factor of the competitive micro-hospitality industry in tourist destinations on a theoretical level, which can be set up via simple, complicated and multimodal traffic logistic models in micro-hospitality industries.

Abstract:
Introduction Literature on prevalence of symptomatic internal carotid artery stenosis is scarce and heterogeneous. Prevalence may have decreased in recent years due to improved management of cardiovascular risk factors. We aim to estimate current prevalence and identify risk factors of ipsilateral internal carotid artery stenosis in patients with recent hemispheric transient ischaemic attack or ischaemic stroke in the Netherlands. Patients and methods We included consecutive adult patients admitted to two large hospitals in the Netherlands in 2014 who suffered from amaurosis fugax, retinal ischaemia, transient ischaemic attack or ischaemic stroke in the vessel territory of the internal carotid artery. Primary outcome was presence of ipsilateral internal carotid artery stenosis (degree subdivided following NASCET criteria), as assessed with duplex ultrasonography, computed tomography angiography and/or magnetic resonance angiography. We used univariable and multivariable logistic regression to identify risk factors for the presence of a 50–100% internal carotid artery stenosis. Results We analysed 883 consecutive patients with recent transient ischaemic attack or ischaemic stroke. Of these, 110 (12.5%) had 50–99% ipsilateral internal carotid artery stenosis. Subgroup analyses showed higher prevalence of any degree of internal carotid artery stenosis for male sex and White patients. In adjusted analyses, higher age (odds ratio 1.4/10 years; 95% confidence interval 1.16–1.63), male sex (odds ratio 2.8; 95% confidence interval 1.83–4.19), retinal ischaemia (odds ratio 2.5; 95% confidence interval 1.32–4.76) and current smoking (odds ratio 1.8; 95% confidence interval 1.09–2.79) were statistically significant risk factors for 50–100% internal carotid artery stenosis. Conclusion The prevalence of internal carotid artery stenosis seems to be lower in patients with recent transient ischaemic attack or ischaemic stroke than stated in previous studies. We found that higher age, male sex, White ethnicity, retinal ischaemia and current smoking were important risk factors for symptomatic internal carotid artery stenosis.

Abstract:
Introduction. The effective development of the internal market for agricultural products is hampered by the viola-tion of the income distribution proportionality between the subjects of its production and the circulation. This is due to the influence of many factors, so it is necessary to find ways to increase the adaptability level of marketing and logistics systems of agricultural business entities. The purpose of scientific research is to develop theoretical and practical aspects of adaptability of marketing and lo-gistics systems of agricultural business entities. Results. The formalization necessity of the quantitative estimation method of the realization nature of economic in-terests of subjects was established in production spheres and the circulation of internal agricultural production. No competi-tive situation has been identified at different levels of the marketing infrastructure of the given market. The formula is pro-posed for calculating the indicator, which characterizes the subjects’ dominance of circulation, and calculates its value for the markets of wheat grains of the third class, marketable sunflower, pork, poultry in all categories, milk. The interpretation of the analysis results is given. The possibility of using the methodology to determine the dominance level of a certain group of subjects in the agrarian market, influencing the behavior of other participants of market processes is substantiated. It is suggested to use this technique to analyze the realization completeness of entities economic interests serving the sales chan-nels. The object markets were ranked according to the increase in the production profitability and the products sales by the manufacturers. The process of the object market development is characterized. The interpretation in the indicator values change is given from the point of view of economic processes in the agricultural market. The laws of formation and function-ing of the strategic management system of marketing and logistic activity have been determined. Comparison of the classes and types of marketing and logistic strategies of agricultural enterprises is presented. The principles of the construction and orientation of the strategic management system of marketing and logistic activity are outlined. Conclusions. It is necessary to maintain an adequate level of adaptability in order to ensure the proper functioning of marketing and logistics systems of agricultural business entities. This property depends on the financial condition, activity parameters, economic potential and other characteristics of the agricultural enterprise. Adaptability of marketing and logistics systems contributes to the profitability increase of agricultural enterprises in the sphere of production and circulation. Abstract:
The research provided empirical evidence on how internal corporate governance practices were proxied by board size, board independence, and share ownership by institutional investors with firm size and leverage as control variables. It might influence the choice of the external auditor, (a dummy proxied with the Big4 versus non-Big4 audit firms dichotomy). The sample was composed of 27 purposely selected quoted non-financial firms spread across 10 sectors on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). There were 189 firms/year of dataset observations. These secondary panel data were sourced mainly from selected firms’ annual reports and accounts from 2011 to 2017. Moreover, descriptive analysis and test of mean difference were conducted, while the panel logistic regression was adopted as the estimation method. The test of mean difference reveals that many firms with larger board size, board independence, and considerably higher institutional investors engage Big4 auditors. Meanwhile, firms with higher leverage employ non-Big4 auditors. The results from the multivariate analysis show that key determinants of the choice of external auditors are board independence and firm size. This suggests that firms have a higher propensity of choosing a Big4 audit firm as the number of independent board members, as well as their increase in sizes. These findings are mostly consistent with previous studies.

Abstract:
The conceptual analysis of evolutionary development of logistics with definition of the basic principles of implementation of logistic support for agricultural sector enterprises is carried out in this paper on the basis of theoretical generalization of scientific literature data. The specific character of logistic approach is highlighted in this paper. The peculiarities of material flows in agriculture in general and particularly in agro-industrial complex are listed. It is shown that in agriculture, the production and biological processes are closely interconnected, and material flows can be biological in nature. It is determined that the object of production logistics in agriculture is the internal material flow and accompanying enterprise flows on their way from raw materials warehouses to the finished products warehouses, and internal movements of agricultural machinery. The subject of production logistics is material flows optimization within the enterprises that create material values or provide services such as storage, packaging, assembling. Particular attention is paid to the problems of agricultural production and specific features of agro-industrial production. It is also noticed that the efficiency of agricultural production is determined by its technological resource, and the criterion of economic logistics efficiency is maximization while minimizing resource costs. The dynamics of the Logistics Performance Index in Ukraine in comparison with Europe is presented. It is obvious from dynamics analysis, that Ukraine has a high level of logistics costs, which affects both the efficiency of the country's economy in general and agricultural production in particular. It is concluded that the use of logistics at the enterprise should provide the possibility of constant coordination and mutual adjustment of supplier actions, production and sales units. Thus, the use of logistics in agro-industrial economy makes it possible on the one hand to streamline the processes of physical movement of goods, eliminate «bottlenecks» in transportation and warehousing in all sectors of agro-industrial complex, and on the other hand directs the producers to form optimal channels for the movement of finished goods, including agricultural products.

Objectives: This article applies a multidimensional social exclusion framework to examine Chinese rural-to-urban migrant victimization. Method: Data from the 2012 China Labor Dynamics Survey is used to examine whether Chinese migrants are more likely to be victimized compared to urban residents and to what extent the prior findings on the meditating roles of social exclusion between immigration and victimization can be applied to understand Chinese migrants’ victimization. Results: Findings reveal the elevated victimization risks among nationwide rural-to-urban migrants. Logistic regression models find that social exclusion mediates the link between migrant status and victimization and that social exclusion predicts victimization. Conclusions: The discriminative institutional arrangements in China are a major force of the universal disadvantages of Chinese migrants. That is, it is not the migrant status itself, but the social exclusion suffered by individuals that increase the likelihood of being criminally victimized.

Abstract:
Currently one of the most urgent tasks of improving conditions for the formation of economic development is to create a developed logistic infrastructure. However, the views on the nature and composition of the logistics infrastructure are contradictory, and the composition of the organization’s logistics infrastructure is not sufficiently systematic, mainly in terms of the environment. Specifying the nature and components of the logistics infrastructure business in Ukraine, we believe, will help create a system model of the logistics of a particular company and requires further research. The purpose of the research is to clarify the essence of the category "enterprise’s logistic infrastructure", the composition of its objects and the detailing of these objects for Ukrainian organizations Research methods are: specification; monographic method; critical analysis, synthesis. We believe that the logistics infrastructure of the company is a combination of external and internal objects that form the mechanism of movement of material and associated with them flows from producer to consumer.Given this definition, the objects of the external and internal logistic infrastructure of the organization can be grouped according to their functional roles. Among the objects of external logistic infrastructure of the organization offered are: objects of institutional regulatory infrastructure (the legislature, executive and judiciary and local authorities dealing with transport and road facilities, Tax, Sanitary Inspection Service, standards bodies and metrology, etc.); objects of trade and intermediary infrastructure (trade exchanges, trading houses, broker, agency, commission, company, wholesale markets, retail stores, etc.); financial and credit facilities infrastructure (banks, insurance companies, leasing companies, currency exchanges, etc.); infrastructure facilities personnel (labor exchange, employment agencies, employment centers, etc.); objects of social infrastructure (international and domestic logistics association Chamber of Commerce, the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Central Union of Consumer Societies of Ukraine, Association of International Freight Forwarders of Ukraine, the International Road Transport Union, etc.); objects of engineering infrastructure (producers and service center for technical devices used in logistics activities, vehicles of different types and purposes, handling equipment and handling machinery, commercial and technological equipment, office equipment, devices communications, safety and fire safety, cargo terminals, transport and public warehouses, packaging enterprises, etc.); objects of foreign infrastructure (customs services, trade representative of State, World Trade Center, etc.); objects of information infrastructure (enterprise communications, information and telecommunications networks, support services company for the development and implementation of software, etc.); facilities of infrastructure advisory (consulting firms, accounting firms, legal counseling centers, etc.); objects of innovation infrastructure (research organizations and design offices involved in the development of new types of packaging, design and handling equipment handling machinery, more efficient and economic, marketing firms that study and predict the markets of logistics products and services, logistics firms who develop optimal routes of passenger and freight transport, warehouse design rational processes of cargo, etc.). The company may have its own logistics infrastructure facilities, and can use appropriate objects of other companies and organizations. Globalization of logistics activities and implementation of Ukrainian economy capacity need to make further scientific and applied research aimed at developing complex measures to create advanced and efficient logistics infrastructure on the base of system approach at micro and macro levels.

Abstract:
In clinical research, prediction models for binary data are frequently developed in logistic regression framework to predict the risk of patient’s health status such as death and illness. However, when the outcome is rare, the maximum likelihood (ML) based standard logistic regression has been reported to show poor predictive performance by providing overfitted model. To overcome this, penalized maximum likelihood (PML) based logistic models are being widely used in risk prediction, however, their predictive performance in validation settings is not well-documented. Several validation approaches, namely split-sample, crossvalidation, bootstrap validation and its two variants 0.632 and 0.632+, have been widely used to validate the performance of a prediction model, however, it is also unclear which one of these approaches best for estimating accurate predictive performance of a rare-outcome model. This paper focused on evaluating predictive performance of PML based logistic model in such validation settings in comparison with ML based standard model and identifying the effective validation method. An extensive simulation study was performed by creating several scenarios to reflect modeling in dataset with few events. The results revealed that PML based model showed better performance by reducing overfitting to some extent and increasing discriminatory ability over ML based model, irrespective of validation methods under study. Of the validation methods, regular bootstrap and its variants 0.632 and 0.632+, particularly 0.632+, performed well by providing nearly accurate and stable estimate of the true predictive performance. We also illustrated the methods applying them to cardiac data set with few events.

Abstract:
This study is motivated by the lack of internal audit (IA) fund research and examines the influence that the following elements have on IA fund sufficiency: IA quality factors (experience, certification and training), the independence and objectivity of Chief Audit Executives (rotation, reporting line and appointment), IA characteristics (IA department size and age), budget changes, and IA risk assessment activities. This study identifies 2,205 Chief Audit Executives and uses logistic regression to examine the impact of internal audit quality, independence, characteristics and activity on IA fund sufficiency. The results show that IA quality variables, independence and objectivity variables, IA size, age and budget changes all contribute to predicting fund sufficiency for the model IA department. The results also demonstrate that the risk assessment variable does not contribute to the model. The value of this study is that it provides empirical evidence regarding identifying factors that influence internal audit fund sufficiency. This study’s evidence has implications for policymakers and practitioners, as the actual issue of IA fund sufficiency has yet to be examined.

That is why the purpose of this article is to analyze logistic processes for customer service at Würth Polska. This will be preceded by a review of modern definitions of logistics and logistic processes. The paper also describes the results of the present author’s research focusing on the operation of the enterprise in questions and the opinions of customers relating to service quality. The internal materials of the investigated enterprise and the results of the research have shown the need to introduce improvements in the process of delivery of the ordered goods. This is necessary even despite the company’s extensive experience and brand recognition on the market. Therefore, it is also an interesting research question whether similar problems also occur in other companies of this type operating on the Polish market.

Abstract:
Recently, with the rapid development of social platforms, social e-commerce enterprises are also rising. However, in the process of development, logistics cost has become a big constraint. Taking Pinduoduo as an example, this paper adopts case analysis method and literature review method to study how to help e-commerce enterprises control logistics costs from the perspective of value chain. By analyzing, this paper finds that for internal value chain of Pinduoduo, it faces problems of inadequate supervision of delivery cost, unreasonable freight rate, and high reverse logistic cost. For external value chain, Pinduoduo faces problems of low loyalty from users, high competitiveness from competitors and imperfect sinking market value chain. Aiming at these problems, this paper puts forward the following suggestions. For internal value chain, Pinduoduo should adopt JIT and ABC method, strengthen the supervision of delivery cost, and improve the efficiency of after-sale service. For external value chain, Pinduoduo needs to establish strong relationship with suppliers and customers. Most importantly, forming an infallible information system is essential.
