Abstract:
A Selaginella convoluta (Arn.)

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract Selaginella convoluta (Arn.) Spring is a species popularly known as “jericó”, and used in folk medicine as analgesic and anti-inflammatory. This study aimed to investigate in mice the antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activities of the hexane (Sc-Hex) and chloroform (Sc-CHCl3) fractions (100, 200 and 400 mg/kg) obtained by partition of crude ethanol extract from S. convoluta. The preliminary phytochemical analysis of the fractions was performed. Antinociceptive activity was evaluated by writhing, formalin and hot-plate tests. Anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated using carrageenan-induced pleurisy. The rota-rod test was used to evaluate motor coordination. Preliminary phytochemical screening showed that the Sc-Hex and the Sc-CHCl3 were positive for the presence of flavonoids, anthracene derivatives, quinones, triterpenes and steroids. Inhibition of writhing was observed for fractions tested. The Sc-Hex at all doses tested was effective in reducing the nociceptive behavior produced by formalin only in the second phase. However, the Sc-CHCl3 decreased the paw licking time in the first and second phases. In the hot plate no significant effect was observed for any fraction. In the rota-rod test, treated mice did not demonstrate any significant motor performance changes. In the carrageenan-induced pleurisy, Sc-CHCl3 (200 mg/kg) reduced cell migration to the pleural cavity. These results reveal the antinociceptive properties of S. convoluta , which support, in part, its traditional use, since the fractions did not presented significant activity in the inflammatory response profile. We further verify that this antinociceptive effect could be by activation of nociceptive peripheral pathway.

Abstract:
The Jaria Pika Gas field is a domal anticlinal structure in the northeast of Iraq NW trending, about 3.6 km long and 1.9 km wide. The 55 m thick gas bearing Jeribe Formation is the main reservoir. This study intends to well log interpretation to determine the petrophysical properties of the Jeribe Formation in the Jaria Pika Gas Field. Total porosity, effect porosity, and secondary porosity have been calculated from neutron, density, and sonic logs. Porosity is fair to good in the Jeribe formation. From RHOB-NPHI and N/M cross plot, the Jeribe Formation is composed mainly of dolomite, limestone with nodules of anhydrite. The Fatha Formation contains considerable amounts of anhydrite layers, so it's represented the cap rocks for the Jeribe Reservoir which is recognized based on the reading of Gamma-ray log, Density log, Neutron log, and Sonic log. The Jaria Pika is considered as gas field as the Jeribe reservoir rocks are gas saturated ones.

Abstract:
In the Nag Hammadi Apocalypse of Paul, Paul is said to “trample upon the Mountain of Jericho” immediately prior to his out-of-body ascent through the heavens. The historical Paul never mentions Jericho. Further, there is no such mountain as the “Mountain of Jericho”. It is a metaphor which has been fabricated by the author of Apoc.Paul. This article suggests that the metaphor has an exegetical basis which, once grasped, sheds light on the broader narrative of the text. The metaphor is divided into three parts: 1) Jericho; 2) the “Mountain”; and 3) Paul’s “trampling” upon it. Once the exegetical background of each element has been analysed individually, the metaphor is reassembled in order to demonstrate that the underlying meaning of the image is that to “trample upon the Mountain of Jericho” is in fact to “overcome the hostile forces of the material world”, perhaps even the devil himself.

Abstract:
Abstract. We provide a review of the environmental threats and gaps in monitoring programmes in European coastal waters based on previous studies, an online questionnaire, and an in-depth assessment of observation scales. Our findings underpin the JERICO-NEXT1 monitoring strategy for the development and integration of coastal observatories in Europe and support JERICO-RI2 in providing high-value physical, chemical, and biological datasets for addressing key challenges at a European level. This study highlights the need for improved monitoring of environmental threats in European coastal environments. Participants in the online questionnaire provided new insights into gaps between environmental threats and monitoring of impacts. In total, 36 national representatives, scientists, and monitoring authorities from 12 European countries (Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, UK) completed the questionnaire, and 38 monitoring programmes were reported. The main policy drivers of monitoring were identified as the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD), the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), Regional Seas Conventions (e.g. OSPAR), and local drivers. Although policy drivers change over time, their overall purposes remain similar. The most commonly identified threats to the marine environment were marine litter, shipping, contaminants, organic enrichment, and fishing. Regime change was identified as a pressure by 67 % of respondents. The main impacts of these pressures or threats were identified by the majority of respondents (> 70 %) to be habitat loss or destruction, underwater noise, and contamination, with 60 % identifying undesirable disturbance (e.g. oxygen depletion), changes in sediment and/or substrate composition, changes in community composition, harmful microorganisms, and invasive species as impacts. Most respondents considered current monitoring of threats to be partially adequate or not adequate. The majority of responses were related to the spatial and/or temporal scales at which monitoring takes place and inadequate monitoring of particular parameters. Suggestions for improved monitoring programmes included improved design, increased monitoring effort, and better linkages with research and new technologies. Improved monitoring programmes should be fit for purpose, underpin longer-term scientific objectives which cut across policy and other drivers, and consider cumulative effects of multiple pressures. JERICO-RI aims to fill some of the observation gaps in monitoring programmes through the development of new technologies. The science strategy for JERICO-RI will pave the way to a better integration of physical, chemical, and biological observations into an ecological process perspective.

Abstract:
The study includes petrographic and stratigraphical chraractrstic of the lower-middle Miocene sequence at selected wells from Jambur and Khabaz oilfields. Four hundred and sixty thin section from Jeribe, Serikagni, Euphrates, Dhiban, Anah and Azkand formations in four wells from Jambur and Khabaz oilfields are studied. The stratigraphic study indicates that contact between Jeribe and Faꞌtha formations, Jeribe and Dhiban formations are unconformable in all wells under study, while the contact between Jeribe and Anah, Anah and Azkand, Euphrates and Serikagni formations are conformable. The petrographic study reveals that most of the studied formations are limestone rich in benthonic foraminifera especially in Jeribe and Anah formations, with low percentage of planktonic foraminifera such as Globigerina species in Serikagni and Azkand formations. Additionally, echinoids, coral algae, ostracoda and intraclast remains are present. Non-skeletal component such as, pellets and ooids are rare in Euphrates Formation. Microfacies analysis shows the presence of several microfacies distributed in the studied formations. The environments of lower-Middle Miocene formations have been concluded from petrography and microfacies studies. Jeribe Formation was deposited in lagoonal or semi lagoonal environment, while Serikagni and Euphrates formations were deposited in deep marine environment and shallow open lagoon environment respectively. Closed lagoonal environment is assigned for deposition of Dhiban Formation, while slope and reef environment is recognized for the Azkand Formation and tidal and supratidal with reef marine tropical environment for the Anah Formation. http://dx.doi.org/10.25130/tjps.23.2018.169

Abstract:
Mansuriya Gas field is an elongated anticlinal structure aligned from NW to SE, about 25 km long and 5-6 km wide. Jeribe formation is considered the main reservoir where it contains condensate fluid and has a uniform thickness of about 60 m. The reservoir is significantly over-pressured, (TPOC, 2014). This research is about well logs analysis, which involves the determination of Archie petrophysical parameters, water saturation, porosity, permeability and lithology. The interpretations and cross plots are done using Interactive Petrophysics (IP) V3.5 software. The rock parameters (a, m and n) values are important in determining the water saturation where (m) can be calculated by plotting the porosity from core and the formation factor from core on logarithmic scale for both and the slope which represent (m) then Pickett plot method is used to determine the other parameters after calculating Rw from water analysis . The Matrix Identification (MID), M-N and Density-Neutron crossplots indicates that the lithology of Jeribe Formation consists of dolomite, limestone with some anhydrite also gas-trend is clear in the Jeribe Formation. The main reservoir, Jeribe Formation carbonate, is subdivided into 8 zones namely J1 to J8, based mainly on porosity log (RHOB and NPHI) trend, DT trend and saturation trend. Jeribe formation was considered to be clean in terms of shale content .The higher gamma ray because of the uranium component which is often associated with dolomitisationl and when it is removed and only comprises the thorium and potassium-40 contributions, showed the gamma response to be low compared to the total gamma ray response that also contains the uranium contribution. While the Jeribe formation is considered to be clean in terms of shale content so the total porosity is equal to the effective porosity. No porosity cut off is found if cutoff permeability 0.01 md is applied while the porosity cut off approximately equal to 0.1 only for unit J6 & J8 if cutoff permeability 0.1 md is applied . It can be concluded that no saturation cutoff for the units of Jeribe formation is found after a cross plot between water saturation and log porosity for the reservoir units of Jeribe formation and applied the calculated cut off porosity. The permeability has been predicted using two methods: FZI and Classical, the two methods yield approximately the same results for all wells.

The reservoir is significantly overpressured. In this study, the 3D geological model for Jeribe Formation in Mansuriya Gas Field is setupby using Petrel. Jeribe Formation represents the most important reservoir in MansuriyaGas Field. Four vertical wells (Mn-1, Mn-2, Mn-3 and Mn-4) were drilled in MansuriyaGas Field and used to set-up water saturation and porosity models represented by a 3Dstatic geological model in three dimensions. The main reservoir, Jeribe Formationcarbonate, is subdivided into 8 zones namely J1 to J8, according mainly to porosity log(RHOB and NPHI) trend, DT trend and saturation trend. Petrophysical model (porosity andwater saturation) for Jeribe Formation was set-up from values of porosity and watersaturation using Sequential Gaussian Simulation algorithm. According to data analyses andthe results from modeling the units (J1, J3, J4, J5, J6 and J8) are considered as high-qualityreservoir units due to the high PHIE, low water saturation and no shale content. Units (J2and J7) are considered as non-pay units because of very high-water saturation. Crosssections of petrophysical model were conducted to show the vertical and horizontaldistribution of porosity and water saturation between wells in the field.

Several unique types of finds from the Jericho cemetery of the Second Temple period are the sub¬ject of this article. Among these finds are unusual inscriptions (an inscribed memorial bowl from Jericho; personal names articulated in the Goliath tomb; and an abecedary with mystical hints), funerary art (a wall painting and a nefesh, or funerary marker), and evidence for the use of wooden coffins as a form of burial. The customs exhibited at the Jewish cemetery at Jericho reveal previ¬ously unknown data that contribute significantly to our knowledge of Jewish burial practices of the Second Temple Period. In addition to addressing this archaeological evidence, the article takes up how the burial practices at this site reveal the diversity among the deceased and designated roles associated with the deceased.

The Cairo Agreement on the Gaza Strip and the Jericho Area, signed on May 4, 1994, seeks to implement the Declaration of Principles on Interim Self Government Arrangements signed in Washington on September 13, 1993 and, in particular, to put into effect its Protocol on Withdrawal of Israeli Forces from Gaza and the Jericho Area. The primary purpose of the Agreement is then to transfer territory from Israel to the Palestinian Authority. Article V of the Agreement defines this territory as covering the Gaza Strip and Jericho, excluding the Settlements and the Israeli military installation area. The transfer of territory is naturally accompanied by a transfer of legal and political control from the Military Government to the Palestinian Authority. But the Agreement does not simply assign to the Palestinian Authority all legislative, executive and judicial functions within the territory transferred to its control.
