Full textBuilding on the epistemology of situated knowledge, this research draws from the perspective of care and is based on reflections on domestic work that is effaced from dominant social representations. The study was carried out by means of participant observation and, on the outlook of an auto-socio-analysis, relied on interviews that accompanied the process of transition of status, namely, from au pair to nounou experienced by Brazilian women in Paris and in its outskirts. The research offers sets of tools aiming to raise awareness of the difficulties in identifying oneself with and as a domestic worker, and sheds light on the need of social distinction that hinders recognition of the work of care. The group under scrutiny distinguishes itself from representations of domestic workers in that the care activities it performs is recognized as a vector and not as a fate. One of the implications of this is reflected in the higher level of social mobility enjoyed by the group when compared to other nannies who are encapsulated within social representations of care domestic workers

Full textIn France and most of industrialized countries, learning to play is a cultural pastime which concerns mostly girls and follows specific modalities, both in terms of the instruments chosen and the types done. This doctoral thesis looks at the processes of construction of sexual identity in young female musicians and their influence in learning traditional gender roles. This study is based on an ethnographical field survey in two different musical establishment in addition to affliated amateur bands. Observations and interviews followed thirty-some young people of both sexes aged 7-21. This thesis proncipally explores the way in which girls are specifically introduced to and then kept in this musical universe, thus the role played by the culture. This study then tries to discover gender norms that girls assimilate through this parctice, the multiple ways in which they immerse themselves in it, but also the limits of this embodiment and the way they may transform and rebuild sexual identities. Finally, this study looks at other forms of sexual learning that these young female musicians achieve in their everyday lives, particularly among peers and through the media, and which exist alongside (and even compete with) feminine musical norms

Full textWhatever their theorical divergences are, all the writers who studied into anorexia noticed the christlike imaginery contempt of the flesh and mastery of the body by the mind. Here lies what we could call the manifesto of anorexia. Given this acknowledgement, I questioned the body-mind dichotomy that since plato's time has filtered into western philosophy history. A) philosophical point of view b) anorexia symptomatology c) the history of anorexia clinical study the purpose of psychoanalytical study - philosophy interaction consists in discovering facts about the original violence (original as regards the story of the patient but from a cultural point as well), and the anorexic patient by forcing himself echoes a response to us. It doesn't seem pointless to question ourselves about the value of our conceptual goods, thence the idea of that interaction. Anorexia, then, after a first analysis, appears as the mise en scene of the body-mind dichotomy, born from an old dream of human beings to master their instincts. It soon comes to light that this mise en scene is that of a questioning about simulacrum, lure, masquerade. When we know that no human being can escape the boomerang effect engendered by his reflexive nature, it seems suitable to question the anorexic masquerade, what simulacrum it covers. Thence a research turned into bringing to light an innate fantasy that could be detected in every case of anorexia

Full textThe feminine characters'analysis in the orestie, their insertion in ritual gestures and their function in the drama's schooe emphisize the existence of the young maid's tragical identity whose qualities are to be studied by comparison with the young maids from the homeric past and with from the barbarian countries described by herodot. The hippocratic practitisner's speech, as well as the stele express the recognition of the virginal group altogether with the negation of the wife. As for the social position given to the maid, it involves challenging and tutelling powers. In fact, the dowry's study and the family alliances show the father's determination to govern his descent by his daugther's wedding as well as the matrimonial strategie's mutation on the political level. It is necessary that the young maid stay out of the seduction's territory so as to show that the guilty adultery is love and death's trap. Because the delictious deed has in athena, an exceptional importance and political, indeed. The character's signification maid or sister can also be understood in relation with an isonomic society which fears that the young maid, who is the father's authority's mirror and instrument, could be used as a vanishing power's concept and a potential threat of discord. Against that danger, is the sister, auxiliary and peaceful agent, because she has no erotic link. Athena, divine young maid, poliad divinity, gathers the naked signs of a recognition which is like a civic identity
