Abstract:
Im Mittelpunkt dieser Arbeit stehen Christian Krachts Romane, die angesichts ihrer Vielfalt unter verschiedenen Perspektiven analysiert werden könnten, sei es wegen der Themen, die sie behandeln, sei es aufgrund ihrer stilistischen Eigenheiten. Die Entscheidung, Kracht unter dem Aspekt der Autoreninszenierung zu behandeln, wurde getroffen, weil die Faszination seines Werks, zumindest teilweise, durch die auβerliterarischen Äuβerungen Krachts in Interviews, auf Fotos oder durch sein Profil bei Facebook, als mehrdeutige Erweiterung seiner Texte fungieren und zur Projektion seines Images beitragen. Behandelt werden die Romane Faserland, 1979, Ich werde hier sein im Sonnenschein und im Schatten und Imperium; letzteres als Werk, das schon seit dem ersten Roman geplant war. Auβerdem analysieren wir die verschiedene Autorenfunktionen und ihre Veränderungen im Laufe der Jahrhunderte, sowie den Inszenierungsprozess in der Geschichte der Literatur seit dem Mittelalter. Sowohl der Begriff als auch die Debatte um die ,,Rückkehr des Autors” hängen mit der Idee der Autoreninszenierung zusammen. Obwohl mit diesem Begriff traditionell die öffentlichen Formen der Autorenpräsentation in den Medien verbunden werden, stellen wir fest, dass die jeweiligen Inszenierungen der Epoche angepasst sind und mit den Mitteln, die den Autoren historisch zur Verfügung stehen, realisiert werden. Nach der Beschäftigung mit einigen Autoren seit dem Mittelalter, widmen wir uns Karl May und den Legenden um seine fiktionale und reale Identität, Thomas Mann, dem Repräsentanten der Deutschen Nation, Rolf Dieter Brinkmann, der den Kritiker Reich-Ranicki zu töten drohte, und Christian Kracht. Bei Christian Kracht kann man feststellen, dass sowohl sein Werk als auch seine öffentlichen Erscheinungen ein gewisses Unbehagen verursachen, oft weniger aufgrund der Ressonanz seiner Werke, sondern überwiegend wegen der Äuβerungen des Autors. In dieser Studie versuchen wir zu verdeutlichen, dass die Inszenierungen Christian Krachts auf zwei Ebenen stattfinden: in der Selbstkonstituierung und in der Auflösung seiner Figur im Rahmen der Medien sowie im Spiel mit Referenzen in seinen Werken.<br>No centro deste trabalho, estão os romances de Christian Kracht, que poderiam ser analisados sob diversas perspectivas, considerando sua riqueza, tanto do ponto de vista dos assuntos de que tratam, quanto por suas características estilísticas. A decisão de abordar Kracht sob o ângulo da encenação autoral deve-se ao fato de a fascinação pela obra ser oriunda, pelo menos em parte, das manifestações extraliterárias de Kracht em entrevistas, em fotos ou em seu perfil no Facebook, que servem como extensão ambígua dos próprios textos e contribuem para projetar sua imagem. Estudamos as obras Faserland, 1979, Eu estarei aqui no sol e na sombra e Imperium; esta como obra que já havia sido concebida desde o primeiro romance. Analisamos, também, as diferentes funções do autor e suas transformações através dos séculos, bem como o processo da encenação do autor na história da literatura desde a Antiguidade. Tanto o conceito, como o debate envolvendo o “retorno do autor” estão atrelados à ideia das autoencenações. Apesar de, com frequência, relacionarmos formas públicas de autorrepresentação nas mídias ao conceito de “autoencenação”, observamos que as encenações se adaptam à sua época e aos recursos de que os autores dispõem para realizá-las. Depois de tratarmos de alguns autores desde a Idade Média, citamos Karl May e as lendas sobre a identidade ficcional e real criadas por ele; Thomas Mann, o representante da nação alemã; Rolf Dieter Brinkmann, que ameaçou o crítico Reich-Ranicki de morte, e Christian Kracht. No caso de Christian Kracht, observamos que, tanto a obra quanto as aparições em público causam certo desconforto, muitas vezes menos baseado na repercussão provocada pelas obras, do que pelos posicionamentos do autor. Nesta pesquisa, buscamos demonstrar que as autoencenações de Christian Kracht são desenvolvidas em dois níveis: na autoconstrução e na desconstrução de sua figura no ambiente midiático e no jogo de referências em suas manifestações literárias.

Thesis (MA)--Stellenbosch University, 2014.<br>ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This thesis investigates Romantic motifs in Postmodernism, especially Romantic motifs in Christian Kracht’s postmodern pop novel Faserland. Although in many aspects the era of German Romanticism (ca. 1798 – 1835) in literary history is seen as completed, Romanticism, as demonstrated in this thesis, still plays a significant role in today's postmodern literature. Even though discussions on this subject already exist, by theorists such as Blanning, Safranski and Lüthe, whose views provide the theoretical foundations for this hypothesis, concrete text investigations were yet still absent until now. Based on a comparison between themes and motifs of well-known Romantic texts, such as Heinrich von Ofterdingen (Novalis) , Aus dem Leben eines Taugenichts (Joseph von Eichendorff) as well as Der Sandmann (E.T.A. Hoffmann), and Christian Kracht’s postmodern Faserland, the continuity of Romanticism is illustrated in this study. The study not only provides an in depth analysis of the mentioned texts, but also, by means of comparison, clearly illustrates and evaluates to which extent Romantic thought has altered in a postmodern context.<br>AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Hierdie tesis ondersoek Romantiese motiewe in Postmodernisme, veral Romantiese motiewe in Christian Kracht se postmoderne poproman Faserland. Alhoewel in baie aspekte die tydperk van die Duitse Romantiek (ongeveer 1798 – 1835) in die literêre geskiedenis as afgehandel beskou word, speel die Romantiek, soos gedemonstreer in hierdie tesis, steeds 'n belangrike rol in vandag se postmoderne literatuur. Hoewel daar reeds besprekings oor hierdie onderwerp bestaan, deur teoretici soos Blanning, Safranski en Lüthe, wie se sienings die teoretiese basis vir hierdie hiptese bied, was konkrete teksondersoeke egter tot nou toe afwesig. Gebaseer op 'n vergelyking tussen die temas en motiewe van bekende Romantiese tekste, soos Heinrich von Ofterdingen (Novalis), Aus dem Leben eines Taugenichts (Joseph von Eichendorff) sowel as Der Sandmann (E.T.A. Hoffmann), en Christian Kracht se postmoderne Faserland, word die kontinuïteit van die Romantiek in hierdie studie geïllustreer. Die tesis bied nie net 'n in diepte ontleding van die genoemde tekste nie, maar illustreer en evalueer ook duidelik, deur middel van vergelyking, tot watter mate Romantiese motiewe in 'n postmoderne konteks verander het.<br>GERMAN ABSTRACT: Zusammenfassung: In dieser Arbeit wird auf romantische Motive in der Postmoderne, im Besonderen aber auf romantische Motive in dem postmodernen popliterarischen Roman Christian Krachts Faserland eingegangen. Obwohl in der Literaturgeschichte die Epoche der deutschen Romantik (ca. 1798 – 1835) als abgeschlossen gesehen wird, spielt die Romantik, wie in dieser Arbeit gezeigt wird, eine bedeutende Rolle in der heutigen postmodernen Literatur. Auch wenn es bereits Diskussionen zu diesem Thema gibt, von Theoretikern wie Blanning, Safranski und Lüthe, deren Ansichten die theoretischen Grundlagen für diese Hypothese liefern, sind konkrete Textuntersuchungen bisweilen dennoch ausgeblieben. Anhand eines Vergleichs zwischen Themen und Motiven von bekannten romantischen Texten, wie Heinrich von Ofterdingen (Novalis), Aus dem Leben eines Taugenichts (Joseph von Eichendorff) sowie auch Der Sandmann (E.T.A. Hoffmann), und Christian Krachts postmodernen Faserland , wird die Kontinuität der Romantik in dieser Arbeit dargestellt. Die These liefert nicht nur eine eingehende Analyse der genannten Texte, sondern illustriert und bewertet auch deutlich, mit Hilfe von einem Vergleich, inwiefern sich der romantischen Geist sich in einem postmodernen Kontext verändert hat.

Author: Hanna JulinSupervisor: Bärbel WestphalExaminator: Corina Löwe Summary: The aim of this study is to investigate how verbal irony is used in fiction to indicatedandyism in pop-modern literature. It is a contrastive study based on Christian Kracht’s novelFaserland (1995), which is considered to be a romana à clef in the German popliterature. Attkomma hem ska vara en schlager (2004), by Per Hagman is a Swedish novel comparative tothe German „pop-novel“. The analysis has shown that the verbal irony primarily has threefunctions: social criticism, distancing and self-criticism. These elements correspond withdistinctive features which are typical of the dandy. Irony itself, according to Barbey (1987),Schickedanz (2000) and Rauen (2010) among others, is a distinctive feature of the classicaldandy figure, as well as of the pop-modern one. However, further research consisting of bothsynchronic, diachronic and contrastive analysis is relevant, as the dandy, according to Hörner(2008) and Tietenberg (2012) among others, always renews himself – so that his image alwaysappears elegant, modern, original and rebellious in his contemporary society.

Concernant le risque de marché, les modèles de Value-At-Risk ont montré leurs limites. Le risque résiduel qu'ils ne prennent pas en compte n'est pas un risque de pertes supérieures à la VAR mais un risque d'illiquidité sur les marchés financiers propres aux périodes de krach. La VAR doit donc être conditionnelle à un événement de type krach. Qu'est ce qu'un krach ? La définition donnée par Kindelberger (1994) est dépassée. Un krach n'est pas une simple "valeur extrême" mais un événement plus complexe créé par un enchaînement de rentabilités plus ou moins corrélées. Deux temps d'arrêts permettent d'identifier le début et la fin d'un krach. Sur la base de cette définition nous proposons des méthodes d'évaluations dans le cadre des processus alpha-stable de Lévy. Une approche numérique nous permet d'envisager une valorisation en probabilité historique ou risque neutre. Assurer un risque quelconque repose sur la possibilité de le diversifier au sein d'un portefeuille. Concernant le risque de krach, la seule diversification possible est temporelle. La prise en compte d'un tel effet de diversificatio dans les fonctions d'utilité permet d'envisager une offre d'assurance krach. L'existence d'un prêteur en dernier ressort, offrant de la liquidité en période de krach reste toutefois une conditi n nécessaire.

This diploma thesis is focused on unconventional monetary policy tools that individual central banks introduced into practise as a response to the global financial crisis. It is about quantitative easing policy, foreign exchange interventions with exchange rate commitment and negative interest rates. This thesis also deals with classical tools of monetary policy such as open market operations, discount tools, minimum requirement reserve or foreign exchange interventions. The aim of the thesis is to document the development of central banks policy and then to examine relationship of selected assets in comparison with balance sheet of Federal reserve systems with help of correlation coefficient. The thesis also deals with the thought how should behave in the zero lower bound environment and what are the pitfalls of unconventional monetary policy.

Les faibles incidences reelles de la crise boursiere d octobre 1987 ont surpris la plupart des previsionnistes. La neutralite de ce choc boursier sur la demande globale tendrait-elle a prouver que les partisans de la dichotomie entre spheres financieres et reelle de l economie sont dans le vrai ? dans une premiere partie, nous analysons de facon detaillee les theories qui explicitent les mecanismes de diffusion des crises financieres d une part sur le comportement de consommation des menages, et, d autre part, sur le comportement d investissement des firmes. La deuxieme partie est consacree a la confrontation de ces theories a la realite du krach boursier de 1987 et a la mise en evidence de facteurs qui ont limite la propagation reelle de la chute des cours boursiers. Enfin, le role de l intervention publique est etudie dans une troisieme partie. Il s avere que cette intervention publique massive, rapide et coordonnee internationalement a efficacement circonscrit le krach a la sphere financiere en sauvegardant le climat de confiance. Cette regulation s est manifeste au niveau du systeme global d anticipations et a, de ce fait, contrarie une extension reelle en creant une rationalite au niveau collectif. Celle-ci a pouse les agents a adopter des comportements individuels semblant irrationnels au regard des preceptes theoriques<br>The real effects weakness of the stock market crash in october 1987 have surprised most of the economists. Would this shock neutrality over global demand tend towards proving that the supporters of financial-real dichotomy are right ? at first we analyse theories studying the real spreading ways of a changing in financial assets prices and especially stocks. In a second part we confront the 1987 reality with theories and try to explain the real effects limitations mechanisms, that is on households consumption and firms investment. Thirdly we show what is the government intervention part in this deconnection. These large, quick, and internationally coordinated interventions have circumbscrimbed the crash to the financial area, maintaining confidence in the future. Regarding the global expectation system, these public actions have contributed to thwart the real consequences, creating a collective rationality that induced non-rationality at the indivudal level at variance with theorical precepts

Abstract:
Dans les années mille neuf cent vingt, l'expansion de la ville de Miami donna lieu à une spéculation effrénée sur les terrains à bâtir. L'étude de récits d'acteurs et témoins de ce boom immobilier ainsi que l'analyse de la presse contemporaine nous ont permis de dégager une série de repères spécifiques à ce développement. Nous avons étudié la confluence entre l'essor de la station balnéaire et la prospérité sans précédent des Etats-Unis après la grande guerre. Ensuite, nous avons examiné les aspects les plus marquants de la bulle spéculative : modalités de transaction alléchantes, battage médiatique et stratégies commerciales offensives, apparition de loups de la finance se livrant à des malversations portant atteinte à la réputation de Miami, embargo sur les matériaux de construction, propagande anti-Floride dans le nord en réaction à l'afflux massif de capitaux vers la péninsule, mesures ingénieuses de la municipalité pour décourager la spéculation, retrait massif et moutonnier des investisseurs, succession massive de faillites et récession sévère de l'économie locale. Notre étude a pu montrer le poids du contexte économique, social et culturel dans l'émergence de cette bulle spéculative : porté par une foi aveugle dans l'idée que l'Amérique était destinée à une prospérité éternelle, le processus qui s'est développé en Floride peut apparaitre comme une préfiguration du krach boursier qui allait ruiner l'Amérique. Au-delà de la valse des dollars, la ruée vers les cieux ensoleillés de Floride du Sud annonce le poids croissant du tourisme et manifeste l'apparition d'un nouvel espace de vie citadine rejetant la grisaille au profit des teintes émeraude des lagons et du sable fin d'un rivage frangé de cocotiers. On voit ici émerger une nouvelle morale du plein air, la fusion entre lieu de villégiature et lieu de vie, en un mot, la naissance d'un art de vivre où s'accomplit la version moderne du rêve américain.

På uppdrag av företaget Krabat AS har ett produktutvecklingsarbete för att ta fram ett tillbehör till deras rullstol Krabat Sheriff utförts. Syftet med projektet har varit att utveckla ett tillbehör för att öka rullstolens mobilitet i terräng. Målet med processen har varit att ta fram ett underlag för vidareutveckling av ett av- och påmonterbart tillbehör som ska passa Krabat Sheriff. Detta har genomförts genom att ta fram lösningar med hjälp av marknadsanalys, intressentanalys och teoristudier samt visa olika konfigurationer av de framtagna lösningarna för att slutligen presentera koncept. Arbetet har följt Krabats egen produktutvecklingsprocess, P-08, som inkluderar faserna idé, marknadsundersökning, kravspecifikation, koncept, produktspecifikation, detaljkonstruktion och granskning. I idéfasen gjordes en marknadsanalys samt en intressentanalys för att skapa en överblick av vad kunden och marknaden ville ha. Kravspecifikationen bestod av primärbrukarens krav och önskemål. Den fungerade som en checklista som alla koncept gick igenom för att se om de var realiserbara. I konceptfasen skissades och utvärderades samtliga koncept med hjälp av en beslutsmatris. Beslutsmatrisen valde ut två koncept som vidare utvecklades. Dessa två koncept kombinerades till ett som sedan gick vidare till produktspecifikationen. I produktspecifikationen beskrevs det slutgiltiga konceptet, Krabat Revolvers lösningar i detalj. I detaljkonstruktionen beskrevs Revolvers materialval och tillverkningssätt. Slutligen gjordes en granskande överblick av projektet med hjälp av en feleffektanalys som kontinuerligt byggts på under projektets gång. Sammanfattningsvis ses projektet som lyckat då både syfte och mål har uppnåtts; underlag för en produkt som löser huvudproblemet har tagits fram. Det finns även ett dokumenterat intresse för produkten vilket skapar ett nyhetsvärde för samtliga intressenter.<br>On behalf of the company Krabat AS a product development case concerning developing an accessory for making their wheelchair, Krabat Sheriff, more usable in terrain has been done. The purpose has been to produce a material for further developing of a detachable accessory made for the Sheriff. The goal has been to present a proposal of solutions obtained by market analysis, stakeholder analysis and theoretical studies as well as showing the possible solutions, showing their optimal configurations and proposing a final concept. The work has been following Krabat AS product development process, P-08, which included the following phases: idea, market research, specifications of requirement, concept, product specifications, details and review. In the idea phase the problem, cause and goal was formulated. In the market research phase a market analysis as well as a stakeholder analysis was done in order to get an idea of what the customer and the market wanted in the product. The specification of requirements consisted of the demands and requests of the primary stakeholders. It worked like a checklist which every concept had to pass to work as a real product. In the conceptual phase every concept was drawn and evaluated. By help of a decision making matrix two concepts was deemed the best. These two concepts where continued working on finally making it one continuing on to the product specification phase. In the product specification the final concept, Krabat Revolver, was introduced and explained in detail. In the detail phase the way of production, configuration of parts and choice of material was documented. In the last phase the project was reviewed by help of a FMEA-analysis which had been worked on the entire project. In conclusion the project is a success since it both has been able to accomplish the purpose and the goal; documenting a material for a product that clears the main issue. It also exist a documented interest for the product by the stakeholders which make the product newsworthy.

L'effondrement des marchés boursiers est un phénomène de plus en plus fréquent et affecte plus ou moins directement la population entière de la planète. Il est donc primordial de développer des outils afin de modéliser et de prévoir de tels événements. Mais pourquoi alors n'avons-nous pas encore proposé de solution ultime à un problème aussi important? Quelles sont les problématiques principales qui nous en empêchent? C'est dans cet ordre d'idées que nous exposerons divers modèles proposés par des experts de référence dans leurs domaines respectifs et que nous identifierons les diverses problématiques qui surviennent lors de l'étude de ces modèles. Une étude plus approfondie de l'un des modèles actuels les plus présomptueux sera effectuée : il s'agit du modèle LPPL (ou Log periodic power-law), suggéré pour la première fois en 1996 par Sornette, Johansen et Bouchaud [60]. Ces derniers suggèrent notamment que les prix d'une action en présence d'une bulle économique soient modélisés selon la formule : lnp(t) = A + B(t[indice inférieur c] - t)[indice supérieur beta]{1 +C cos([omega]ln(t[indice inférieur c] - t) + [phi])}. Enfin, un dernier chapitre sera consacré à la correction d'une prépublication récemment soumise à arXiv par Lin et Sornette [32] qui propose deux nouveaux modèles purement stochastiques. Note intéressante : le premier de ces modèles englobe sous forme de cas particulier la formule de Black-Scholes.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur företag kan skapa förutsättningar för utveckling av innovativ kraft och hur ett företag på ett bra sätt tillvaratar denna kraft. Uppsatsen skrivs ur ett företagsperspektiv och vi avgränsar oss från de anställdas perspektiv. Vår ansats har liknat fallstudiens. Vi har intervjuat sex personer från lika många företag. Vårt resultat visar att för utveckling av innovativ kraft krävs en helhetssyn på individen och tillfredsställelse av dennes behov. Ledarskapet spelar här en viktig roll. Organisationen bör präglas av flexibilitet och decentralisering. Vidare bör det finnas en beredskap för att ta hand om och utveckla idéer. Klimatet i företaget bör främja spontanitet, nyfikenhet och lekfullhet för att tillvarata den innovativa kraften.</p>

The Great Society programs, enacted in the mid 1960's under president Lyndon B. Johnson's administration, remain even after more than a half-century a controversial topic of American economic history. This thesis analyzes the main measures of the Great Society in context of escalating public expenditures to finance the Vietnam War. The results show major impact of the Great Society deepening of problems the US economy in the 1970's and for current structural imbalances of the Federal budget. The link with closing of the "golden window" is rather indirect and causes of unilateral break of Bretton-Woods Agreement was caused mainly by expansionary monetary policy and seeking of full employment level by the Nixon administration.

The first goal of this thesis is to reveal main causes of increasing public debts of the Czech Republic and Hungary. The results of that analysis should show us whether the both countries differ in such causes or not and if there is a chance that the Czech Republic's public finance system could be in danger, as it happened in Hungary in 2008. At the beginning, we suppose that there are no important differences in those causes and that the main reason for the increasing public debts are long-term budget deficits which are of structural character. That means that those structural deficits are formed on purpose, by irresponsible fiscal policy. The other goal of this thesis is to analyse the most important factors which cause the long-term structural deficits in the Czech Republic, and to suggest some steps which would help to stop the further creation of those deficits.

Es ist eine Handschrift aus dem 4. Jahrhundert, die in altgriechischen Großbuchstaben Teile des Alten Testaments und das vollständige Neue Testament enthält. Der „Codex Sinaiticus“ ist ein bedeutender Teil des Weltschrifterbes und wird an vier Orten aufbewahrt: in der Universitätsbibliothek Leipzig, in der British Library London, in der Russischen Nationalbibliothek St. Petersburg und im St. Katharinenkloster auf dem Sinai. Die Bedeutung dieser Handschrift ist seit ihrer Entdeckung in der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts bekannt. <p>Bakgrund: Revisorernas tjänsteutbud till revisionsklienter består även av rådgivningstjänster inom områden såsom rekrytering och företagsvärdering. Verksamhet som sträcker sig utöver det vanliga revisionsarbetet ger anledning till att ifrågasätta revisorns oberoende ställning gentemot klienten. </p><p>Syfte: Syftet med denna uppsats är att beskriva hur revisorer fördelar sin tid mellan revision och konsultverksamhet samt att utreda inom vilka områden som revisorn kan utföra konsultverksamhet utan att den oberoende ställningen påverkas. Vi skall dessutom beskriva hur revisorn hanterar situationer som påverkar den oberoende ställningen. </p><p>Avgränsningar: Endast auktoriserade revisorer från Stockholm och Östergötland. </p><p>Genomförandet: En enkätundersökning av 150 auktoriserade revisorer. </p><p>Slutsats: Revisorn tillbringar 40% av sin tid åt konsultverksamhet och denna tidsfördelning mellan revision och konsultverksamhet skiljer sig inte åt med avseende på byråns storlek eller läge. De konsultverksamheter som revisorn kan utföra enligt kravet på god revisorssed överensstämmer enligt undersökningen med de verksamheter som vi anser ligga inom det naturliga kompetensområdet. Revisorer som accepterar ett konsultuppdrag hos en revisionsklient avstår oftast från att delta i beslutsfattandet.</p>

Abstract:
Kraft lignin has a high potential for use in more valuable applications than its current use as fuel in pulp mills and integrated pulp and paper mills. The possibility of using kraft lignin, a green material with a carbon content of more than 60 %, for the manufacturing of carbon fibres was investigated in this thesis. The strong and lightweight carbon fibre material has many potential application areas, e.g. in cars; the main obstacle limiting its demand is the high production cost, with the raw material (petroleum pitch and polyactrylonitrile) and fibre spinning constituting approximately 50 % of the cost. Industrial kraft lignins originating from both softwood (spruce/pine) and hardwood (birch/aspen) were isolated with the LignoBoost technique and then purified and characterized to determine the best suitable lignin for the production of carbon fibre. Using ultrafiltration of the black liquor before isolation using the LignoBoost technique, a kraft lignin with satisfactory high purity was obtained. The fractionated kraft lignin can be used either as such or as a softening agent during melt spinning to obtain continuously spun kraft lignin fibres. The behaviour during thermal treatment was found to differ depending on the type of kraft lignin used. After oxidative stabilisation, the studied lignins became more stable, and thus, the final yield after carbonisation was increased by 10-20 % in comparison to stabilisation in absence of oxygen. The identified products indicate that the main reactions during oxidative stabilisation are radical, oxidation, condensation and rearrangement reactions. The structural differences between softwood and hardwood kraft lignins facilitated the stabilisation of the softwood lignin fibre as compared with the hardwood lignin fibres. Thermal stabilisation in an inert atmosphere using only heat was successfully achieved for the softwood kraft lignin fibres. Stabilisation and carbonisation was successfully performed in a one-step operation on softwood kraft lignin fibres. Thus, it seems possible that the separate stabilisation step can be omitted, which may reduce the processing costs of softwood kraft lignin-based carbon fibres.<br>Sulfatlignin har hög potential för att kunna användas i mer värdefulla applikationer jämfört med idag då det främst används som bränsle i massabruk och integrerade massa/pappersbruk. I egenskap av ett grönt material med en kolhalt på mer än 60 %, har möjligheterna att använda kraftlignin vid kolfibertillverkning undersöks i den här avhandlingen. Kolfiber är lätt och starkt med många olika potentiella användningsområden. Det som idag huvudsakligen begränsar efterfrågan är den höga produktionskostnaden, där råmaterialet (petroleum pitch och polyakrylonitril) och fiberspinningen står för ca 50 % av kostnaden. Industriella sulfatligniner från både barrved (gran/tall) och lövved (björk/asp) har framställts enligt LignoBoost-processen och har därefter renats och karaktäriserats med syfte att hitta det mest lämpliga råmaterialet för tillverkning av kolfiber. Genom att använda ultrafiltrering av svartlut innan isolering med LignoBoost-tekniken, kan man få ett kraftlignin som är tillräckligt rent. Det fraktionerade kraftligninet kan användas antingen rent eller som mjukgörare under smältspinning, för att få fram kontinuerligt spunna sulfatligninfibrer. Sulfatligniner från olika vedslag beter sig olika under termisk behandling. Efter oxidativ stabilisering blir ligninerna mer stabila jämfört med stabilisering i frånvaro av syre, vilket medför ett högre utbyte med 10-20 % av den slutgiltiga kolfibern efter karbonisering. De viktigaste reaktionerna som sker under oxidativ stabilisering av fibrer från sulfatlignin är radikal-, oxiderings- och omlagringsreaktioner. De strukturella skillnaderna mellan sulfatlignin från barrved och lövved gör det möjligt att stabilisera barrvedslignin mycket fortare. Termisk stabilisering i inert atmosfär med endast värme har lyckats med sulfatligninfibrer från barrved. Vidare har även stabilisering och karbonisering i ett enda steg lyckats med sulfatligninfibrer från barrved. Detta kan göra det möjligt att utesluta stabiliseringssteget, vilket förhoppningsvis kan reducera processkostnaderna för kolfiber från barrvedssulfatlignin.<br>QC 20120330

Abstract:
Chlorination of kraft black spruce pulp was studied in a fixed bed reactor. Breakthrough curves of the reactant chlorine and the products TOC, chloride and methanol were measured. The flow residence time distribution was determined by performing a stimulus response tracer experiment preceding chlorination of each pulp pad. The chlorine and methanol break-through curves were well described by a parallel plug flow model and instantaneous chlorine-lignin and first order chlorine-carbohydrates reactions. The representation of the residence time distribution by plug flow through segregated channels rather than by axial dispersed plug flow was confirmed by the effect of operating variables on the residence time distribution and by comparison with theory and numerical predictions. The good representation of the actual flow by the parallel plug flow model can be explained by poor radial mixing and a relatively large scale of variation in radial velocity. The latter is a direct consequence of the large aspect ratio of pulp fibers and their associated tendency to flocculate. This also explains why the dispersion in pulp pads is larger than in beds of regular shaped particles which have the same equivalent diameter as pulp fibers.<br>Chlorine-lignin and methanol-lignin stoichiometries were determined as a function of operating conditions. The chlorine-lignin stoichiometry is a function of mean residence time and temperature, but not of chlorine feed concentration. The values of the chlorine-lignin stoichiometry are lower than found for corresponding batch chlorination of softwood pulps. The methanol-lignin stoichiometry is not influenced by any of the operating variables. The methanol concentration in the effluent can be used as an indicator for the completion of the chlorine-lignin reaction. Pulp properties such as lignin content, kappa number and viscosity were measured at the end of an experiment. Maximum delignification in any channel is obtained at chlorine breakthrough. Recycling of reconcentrated spent filtrate did not hinder delignification rates. The reciprocal intrinsic viscosity is proportional to the chlorine charge on pulp. Higher pulp viscosities are obtained at lower temperatures and mean residence times and at higher chlorine feed concentrations for the same chlorine charge on pulp. Viscosity protection agents like chlorine dioxide are effective in dynamic chlorination.
