Abstract:
When justifying the relevance of the research task of measuring the contribution of macroregions to the country's economy, which has not yet found a scientific and methodological solution, it should be emphasized that the scientific literature does not present a system of parameters for assessing the contribution of macroregions to the national economy, there are practically no comprehensive methods for analyzing the impact of the functioning of macroregional socio-economic systems on the development of the country's economy. The article is devoted to the scientific and theoretical research of methodological approaches to determining the importance of macroregional socio-economic systems. A system of indicators is proposed for assessing the role of a macroregion in the national economy, reflecting its specificity as an integration territory and characterizing the level, degree and intensity of interaction between the actors of the macroregional economic and industrial complex.

Abstract:
Structural analysis of regional economies plays a significant role in political decision-making. In the context of Russian regional development, a new research topic emerges at the level of economic macroregions as defined in the current Spatial Development Strategy of the Russian Federation. The present work aims to empirically evaluate the use of shift-share analysis to clarify the contribution of the neighbourhood effect in addition to national and regional growth factors. The proposed approach incorporates structural shifts of spatial interactions into the classical method using various matrices (adjacency, neighbourhood). Macroregional economic growth was decomposed on the basis of consolidated sectoral structural dynamics and national development stages from 2004–2018 to reveal specific features of structural growth. It was determined that the most significant effects at all stages are those generated by national economic policy. Regional effects are especially important for macroregions whose development is characterised by substantial state support combined with an adequate resource base. Negative values of the spatial sectoral shift persisting across all macroregions testify to the positive mutual influence of macroregional specialisation and intensified interregional cooperation. Sectoral effects were observed only for particular economic sectors or at certain macroregional development stages. Recommendations for strengthening interregional interactions are proposed on the basis of the enlarged typology of structural effects in macroregions. Comparative analysis confirmed the consistency of estimates obtained using standard and spatial shift-share methods. Future research will focus on clarifying the structure of spatial relationships and detailing actual interregional economic interactions in the form of products and goods exchanged between macroregions.

Abstract:

One of the current directions of territorial development is the concentration of efforts on competitive regional processes and the shaping of the trajectory of their development. However, not all directions of regional development can be implemented by themselves. The aim of the research is to study the theoretical aspects of agglomeration and the formation of macroregions in a complicated foreign policy situation accompanied by aggravated socioeconomic processes, introduction and expansion of anti-Russian sanctions and other processes destructive for the country’s economy. The main idea of economic agglomeration and macroregions is the development of effective integration processes and synergetic effects, and as a consequence, territorial self-development. The scientific contribution made by the author is that the current study helps to systematize the existing approaches to the concept of agglomeration; the author also shapes an authentic approach to the concept of agglomeration and its construction as well as introduces some methodical aspects of the macroregion formation on the basis of economic agglomeration. The author has developed a conceptual scheme for the creation of a macroregion on the bases of an economic agglomeration that can be applied in the process of regional economic changes. The main conclusions: 1) the main idea of the formation of agglomerations and macroregions is in the development of effective integration processes and synergistic effects; 2) the concept of macroregion does not imply a change in the federal structure, it affects only economic processes; 3) for the construction of a macroregion, it is necessary to study the agglomerate core and the main economic processes that will proved the necessary synergetic effect and launch the process of territorial self-development.

Abstract:
OBJECTIVE: To estimate the burden of disease due to tuberculosis in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil, in 2009. METHODS: This was an epidemiological study with an ecological design. Data on tuberculosis incidence and mortality were collected from specific Brazilian National Ministry of Health databases. The burden of disease due to tuberculosis was based on the calculation of disability-adjusted life years (DALYs). The DALYs were estimated by adding the years of life lost (YLLs) and years lived with disability (YLDs). Absolute values were transformed into rates per 100,000 population. The rates were calculated by gender, age group, and health care macroregion. RESULTS: The burden of disease due to tuberculosis was 5,644.27 DALYs (92.25 DALYs/100,000 population), YLLs and YLDs respectively accounting for 78.77% and 21.23% of that total. The highest rates were found in males in the 30-44 and 45-59 year age brackets, although that was not true in every health care macroregion. Overall, the highest estimated burden was in the Planalto Norte macroregion (179.56 DALYs/100,000 population), followed by the Nordeste macroregion (167.07 DALYs/100,000 population). CONCLUSIONS: In the majority of the health care macroregions of Santa Catarina, the burden of disease due to tuberculosis was concentrated in adult males, the level of that concentration varying among the various macroregions.

Abstract:
Relevance. Uneven spatial development is a common challenge for all countries, driven by both subjective and objective factors. The issue lies not in regional disparities themselves but in their growing intensity. Amid crises and economic turbulence, it is crucial to have tools to assess the risks of increasing spatial unevenness and widening socio-economic disparities between regions. Research Objective. This study aims to develop and test a tool for estimating the risks of uneven spatial development in Russia’s macroregions and the growing differentiation of regions by socio-economic level, using the Urals-Siberian macroregion as a case study. Data and Methods. A two-stage approach is proposed to evaluate spatial development in terms of uniformity and regional differentiation by socio-economic level and growth rate. In the first stage, the probability of a socio-economic decline is estimated based on key indicators (risk factors) and their dynamic indices. In the second stage, the probability of an increasing variation coefficient within a macroregion, reflecting rising disparities in socio-economic development, is analyzed. A multifactor risk model is used for analysis. The study relies on data from the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) covering the period from 2000 to 2022. Results. Applying this approach to the Urals-Siberian macroregion revealed persistent spatial unevenness throughout the study period, primarily due to the specialization of regions, which stabilizes their relative positions. However, during crises, spatial disparities tend to widen as regions demonstrate varying adaptive capacities and resilience —some not only recover but also improve their positions. Conclusion. The proposed tool assesses risks linked to uneven development and growing regional disparities, offering insights for sustainable macroregional strategies. The findings emphasize the need to consider regions’ specificities and adaptive capacities in spatial development policies.

Abstract:
The article proposes a methodological approach to determining the priorities of smart specialization based on the conjugation of industry-specific specialization at the global, national, and macroregional levels and the scientific and technological competences of the region in the context of geographical, structural, technological, and cognitive proximity. As exemplified by the Central Black Earth macroregion, the study establishes a managerial matrix and scenario models based on competences. As a result of testing the research tools, a unified template of the managerial matrix for conjugating the directions of export (national, macroregional) and scientific and technological specialization of the macroregion was developed and scenario models for determining the priorities of smart specialization of regions within the Central Black Earth macroregion were built as part of entrepreneurial search procedures with the participation of all parties involved (regional authorities, business community, scientific community, and local residents). The proposed approach will allow all regions, including those not widely included in the global or national division of labor, to find a promising niche for development at the macroregional (local) level. In addition, it considers the possibilities of intersectoral convergence and the use of the accumulated competences of these regions in the field of end-to-end digital technologies.

Abstract:
Objective: To analyze the prevalence and factors associated with driving under the influence of alcohol (DUIA) in Brazil, according to macroregion. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using data from individuals aged 18 years or older who participated in the 2013 National Health Survey in Brazil. Subjects were selected by probabilistic sampling and interviewed through home visits. Prevalence of DUIA was estimated according to the number of drivers and/or motorcyclists who reported consuming alcohol in the previous 30 days (n = 9537). Poisson regression was used to analyze the factors associated with DUIA to Brazil and in each macroregion of the country. Results: The prevalence of DUIA was 27.5%, 29.4%, 29.6%, 22.9%, and 20.8% in the North, Northeast, Central-West, South, and Southeast macroregions, respectively. The overall prevalence of Brazil was 24.3%. In most macroregions, the main predictors of DUIA were male sex, high educational level, living in outside the capital or metropolitan regions (other regions), and binge drinking in the previous 30 days. Depression was a predictor in Brazil and two macroregions. Conclusion: A high prevalence of DUIA was observed in Brazil, especially in the Central-West, Northeast and, North macro-regions. Factors associated with DUIA can be incorporated to develop effective interventions to reduce this behavior in Brazil.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Results from archaeological survey provide new insights into the origins of variation among the prehistoric Native American societies that occupied the Chickasawhatchee Swamp of southwestern Georgia. Through macroregional comparison, these insights are broadly applicable to the Eastern Woodlands societies that existed across the southeastern U.S. between A.D. 150 and 1600. Theoretical frameworks concerning landscape ecology, inter-regional exchange, and agency and structure provide the organizing structure for a multi-scalar view of change that contradicts earlier models.Within the Chickasawhatchee Swamp, survey, mapping, and excavation data present a complex regional settlement system. Within the swamp, a few large settlements were occupied for the long-term, in spite of the absence of monumental architecture. Smaller surrounding sites were periodically abandoned. At the swamp's edge, several subregions were organized around civic-ceremonial mound sites. At these edges, mound sites and surrounding subregions were abandoned simultaneously. Instead of being driven by changes in political complexity, residential mobility cycles were consistent through time and related to the region's heterogeneous landscape.Macroregional spatial data comparing mound locations through time support data from the Chickasawhatchee Swamp and confirm hypotheses relating mound construction and transitional landscapes. New data emphasize continuity in inter-regional exchange networks and contradict earlier views in which the emergence of hierarchical political structures were a transformational process that fundamentally altered Eastern Woodlands political economies. Temporal continuity and spatial variation are instead most evident.

This was an exploratory descriptive study which had quantitative and qualitative approaches. The sample aimed at representing the First Macro-region of Health, since it is the most populous one in the state (1,726,022 inhabitants). Due to this study be part of a larger project, it was opted, for convenience, to work on the seven most populous cities and with the best accessibility, which composed the study sample. It represented 62.61% of the macro-regional s population. Data were gathered from two fronts: information systems: Primary Care Information System (PCIS); Ambulatory Information System of the Unified Health System (AIS / UHS); Public Budget in Health Information System (PBHIS), besides the interviews applied to users, workers and managers of the UHS from the municipalities that composed the sample. For this, the instrument for data collection consisted of two semi-structured interview scripts. Data obtained from the interviews were analyzed through the content analysis technique proposed by Bardin (2002), which is based on operations of dismemberment of the text into units or, in other words, on finding out the different units of meaning that constitute the communication and then doing their reunification into classes or categories. Descriptive analysis was also performed by means of graphs and tables of the indicators of oral health care and discursive association with socioeconomic indicators, funding and service supplies. From the results it was verified that municipalities showing the best socioeconomic indicators were the ones that most invested in health funding. Users who access the system through Primary Care are followed to another complexity level when they need to be referenced, which is indispensable for a Care Line, but the findings of this study indicated that there is not always a real concern with the guarantee of that continuity by the municipalities. The cities presenting the best indicators of Primary Care (access, coverage by the Family Health Team, collective action of brushing), are the most devoid of secondary offerings. It s concluded that the findings of this study might be used to assist managers from the municipalities of the Paraiba s 1st Macro-regional of Health in redirecting or maintaining the current oral health policies, in a socially oriented way according to the health needs of individual and collective subjects through the use of publically available secondary data and of the subjectivity of the social actors who constitute the UHS (managers, workers and users).

One of the major challenges on the agenda for the NHS is its funding, which involves both the inadequacy of available resources across the population's needs, as the poor quality of management and inefficiency of spending on health. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between per capita health expenditure and the impact on Mortality Rate Child-TMI in the four Macroregions of Pernambuco State in the period 2008 to 2012. quantitative, descriptive study using secondary data. We analyzed the information regarding the 184 municipalities of PE, these being grouped into 4 macro-regional Health, according to the administrative political division of health PE status. Data were analyzed using the method of Pearson and econometric multiple regression model using panel data method. It was found that expenditure on health per capita in the four Macroregions of Pernambuco showed upward trend in the period 2008 to 2012. It was also observed that the mortality rate Child-TMI in the four Macroregions, as well as in the state of Pernambuco and Brazil , showed a downward trend. However, there are important differences in the reduction of IMR between Macroregions. In the analysis of the bivariate correlation between the per capita expenditure on health and IMR in four health Macroregions, the data showed that the variables are correlated in all four Macroregions, with emphasis on the macroregion II (p = 0.011 and r2 = 0 , 91), which had the most significant correlation between health macro-regional. In the assembly of the econometric model, the results showed that even with the introduction of other variables also influence the IMR, the effect of expenditure per capita / year in IMR remains significant, giving the per capita expenditure on health a degree of robustness.

Abstract:
This research means to evaluate, from the analysis of different polical, social and economic dynamics, which take place in the Tri-border Area between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, the possibility of creating a common area for three countries, which can be perceived as a particular Macroregion, whose organization and mode of development can be taken as a benchmark to be applied, modified and adapted to other similar realities in South America. This area, which during the 17th century was part of the ancient Jesuit Province of Paraguay, is geopolitically divided between the three above mentioned countries and shows some social, urban, cultural, economic and developing realities that are different but unified by a common historical tie and by some great valuable elements: environmental resources, agricultural resources, tourist cultural resources and tourist natural resources. Currently, when referring to these countries, we refer to Mercosur, a process of globalization and internationalization of the economy that is accompanied by the advancement of the scientific-technological revolution that, unifying spaces, commercial and financial transactions, points to an integration that would tend to achieve a greater economic development, an increase of educational and cultural level through market expansion, an increase in productivity, a reduction in long-term costs and the creation of resources for the world of work and production, key elements for an effective economic and social policy. During the '90s, especially in Argentina and Brazil, due to the strong presence of neo-liberal thoughts, Mercosur's original objective of creating a common market that integrates member countries economically, culturally and socially, has been affected and the union that would increase and promote this interchange, has found new horizons in global markets, changing the look of the local to the global. Thus, the externalization policies of the region and their productions began to gain ground, but the inner objective that support the original thought was abandoned. This thought was strongly influenced by the “Open Regionalism”, a thought conceived and promoted by the CEPAL (Comisión Económica para América Latina) that is not based on a total trade liberalization or on promotion of exports, but on integration agreements reinforced by geographical proximity and cultural affinity of the region. To solve the issue we need a new concept of “Open Regionalism”, defined as a process that tries to conciliate the interdependence of local commercial agreements with the global interdependence resulting from free trade, where local integration policies are compatible and complementary to policies that intend to elevate international competitiveness. The "New Concept of Open Regionalism" shouldn’t point only to a development in centrifugal way but should involve also a centripetal action that takes care of the internal needs of the region, promotes networks construction and the presence of micro regional exchanges, and that later combines them with a openness to the world, but always attending primary and directly to the local. Another antecedent, even if geopolitically different from the interest area but greatly valuable as it tries to achieve an accelerated, balanced and independent development, searching an integration at different levels, is the Andean Community of Nations (CAN) to which belong Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador e Perú that set an important precedent for the Andean, South American and Latin American integration. The primary objective of this Community would be to advance the depth of a "full integration" that effectively contributes to a human development, sustainable and equitable to live, with respect for diversity and asymmetries, that brings together different views, models and approaches and converges towards the formation of the Union of South American Nations. It is in the territorial defined context that clear intentions and organizational initiatives would appear, with a tendency to achieve a political, social and economical cohesion, based on the local sustainable development on behalf of South American countries; it is for this reason that the question, that gives meaning to this research, occurs: in the Triple Border Area between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, is it possible to think of a Macroregion based on a New Concept of Open Regionalism? To answer this question it is necessary to define the concept of Macroregion, starting from the analysis of what has already been done in the Macroregion of Baltic Sea and its contextual framework; we should examine the organizational processes that have taken place between the South American countries in recent decades and the economic thought that has motivated them, redefining and adapting it according to the current scenario. In a second stage we should pass to the specific study area to answer the hypothesis raised, showing the evidence that supports the answer itself, also suggesting some aspect that have to be taken into account when we reflect on the integration of the triple border territory.

Abstract:
This diploma thesis deals with paradiplomacy between Czech regions and German federal states. The term paradiplomacy refers to the diplomacy of the lower territorial administrative units. Specifically, this work deals with macro-regional paradiplomacy, ie cooperation of regions that do not share a common border. The research thus focuses on the Central Bohemian Region, which has partnerships with the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the Moravian-Silesian Region, which cooperates with the federal state of North Rhine- Westphalia (research does not include Prague's cooperation with Berlin and Hamburg, as these are urban-type regions). This diploma thesis examines in what motives the paradiplomatic cooperation differs, what are the motivations for its establishment and what is the difference in the fulfillment of mutually set goals. The motives of paradiplomacy can be economic, cultural or political. The first part of the thesis presents the theory and definitions of terms that the thesis then works with. Following on is a methodology and research questions. Subsequently, the respective Czech and German lower territorial administrative units are introduced. In the second part of the thesis, the research itself is carried out and its evaluation set forth. The materials for the research were...

Abstract:
The materials of the monograph are based on the authors' long-term research on new areas of business development and their interactions in the context of digital transformation and the paradigm of sustainable development. The research summarizes both theoretical approaches and the practice of developing a new post-industrial economy in the Siberian region. It is shown that in the regions, in the macro-regions, the most massive businesses of agro-industrial, forestry and tourism complexes and organizations of social infrastructure have the main features of business ecosystems and can interact on the basis of digital platforms and digital models, achieving high-quality results and obtaining network effects, including in the implementation of the integrated investment project "Yenisei Siberia" and development Angara-Yenisei macroregion. Intersectoral and interregional clusters of these businesses and enterprises of vertically integrated businesses in the regions, organizing their interactions with partners, consumers and the state on the basis of digital platforms and digital models of their consolidated production and distribution systems, can serve as a transitional stage to such coordinated interaction. It is intended for scientific and practical business workers, management specialists, including regional government bodies and federal management structures in regions and federal districts.

Abstract:
The object of the study is the regions of Transbaikalia joined the Far Eastern Federal District, through which the main connecting infrastructure of the macroregion with the main territory of the country passes. The purpose of the paper is to show the position of Transbaikalia in the system of the emerging economic corridor China-Mongolia-Russia as a part of China's foreign policy initiative "One Belt - One Road" by analyzing the impact of foreign investment on its current economic situation. This corridor will facilitate the access of Chinese companies to the resources of Siberia and the Far East, enhancing the resource specialization of the area. At the same time, the geostrategic functions of the Trans-Baikal territory, given to it by the new Spatial Strategy of the Russian Federation, require strengthening its own economic potential through the development and diversification of the local economy and horizontal ties between the subjects of the macroregion.
