Abstract:
English Question Formation in the Saudi context has received very little attention. To the best of our knowledge, there are two studies conducted in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA): one looked at the difficulties Saudi students faced when constructing English questions with specific regard to wh and yes/no questions, and the primary problems associated with their difficulties (Al-Hassaani, 2016). Another study analyzed the errors Saudi EFL learners made when forming wh questions and the reasons behind making them (Addaibani, 2017). Therefore, this current study is seen as the first study that aims to analyze Saudi students’ errors in constructing tag questions (canonical tag questions), wh questions, and yes/ no questions at King Khalid University (KKU). It found out the reasons behind making such errors and the difficulties that they faced when forming these English question types. For achieving this study’s aims, a mixed-method research approach was employed, and data were collected from grammatical tests and interviews (open-ended interviews). Saudi students’ errors were examined by using the grammatical test in which they were required to generate wh, yes/no, and canonical tag questions. Further, to examine Saudi students’ difficulties and causes of making errors, the researcher conducted open-ended interviews. After reaching out to the findings of this study, it showed disagreement with similar previous studies. First, the most difficult English type in terms of formation was wh questions, including the highest number of errors in the “Wrong Wh Question Word” category. Then tag questions (canonical tag questions) came to be in the second rank of difficulty, and “Mis-formation Alternating Forms” was the highest category of errors. Lastly, yes/no questions were the easiest ones for Saudi EFL learners, and the common type was the “Wrong Auxiliary” category. This current study has also revealed that some of the students’ errors were due to lack of practice and community as affected reasons, and intensive curriculum and unqualified teachers as less affected reasons.

Abstract:
The purpose of the research is to identify concepts, subject areas, and approaches of local research in the field of media policy making with emphasis on television and radio policy making. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach by meta analysis. The data were collected from theses related to radio and television policy making from 12 universities and related local scientific databases. The relevance to the subject, type and year of publication was considered in selecting sources. The sample size was 87 researches (m.a. theses, ph.d. Theses, and papers). The results showed that most of the work in this field was content policy making which shows the interest of researchers in this field in IRIB. Research has also addressed the issue of ownership and extent of government involvement in policymaking in the broadcasting industry, but according to the findings, they were ignorant of audience rights (privacy, copyright, etc.) In the radio and television industry. Other issues, such as the power of content providers, were also topics that local researches did not pay attention to, despite their importance in the media policy literature.

Abstract:
In today’s society the use of new technologies for data visualizations is becoming increasingly widespread. This article seeks neither to give a complete view of its history nor an exhaustive definition of the phenomenon of data visualization. This article takes a new perspective on data visualization by dealing only with a new type of data visualizations, those based on “Big Data” and AI systems. This perspective is completely different from existing ones. Therefore, I explore three main theses: (a) that AI systems applied to large amounts of data that we cannot directly know (so-called “Big Data”) can create “living” and interactive images with a multifaceted nature and efficacy (epistemic, phenomenal, and subjective); (b) that this new type of data visualizations is deeply linked to the so-called “iconic turn” trend in the field of social sciences because many of the theses of the “iconic turn” are confirmed and even reinforced by these data visualizations; (c) that through the production of “living” images, digital technologies demonstrate their ability to re-define and re-configure our experience and re-ontologize reality by creating new entities requiring new philosophical tools to be fully understood. I focus mainly on this third thesis by stressing the hermeneutical function of data visualization.

In this article, I try to identify the right connexion between some metaphysical theses (eternalism and determinism) and some semantic theses (closed and open future). Having established that, I will then posit two principles (Metaphysical-Semantical Determination Principle and Semantical-Metaphysical Indetermination Principle), making them available to philosophical debates, such as the debate about future contingents and its variants. The principles in question summarize the contribution that the relations between those theses can offer when well established. We will eventually see that we cannot deduce those metaphysical theses from the semantic theses in question, although we can move from the metaphysical theses to the semantic theses.

Abstract:
The article mainly examines two three-volume literary-historical works – “Bulgarian Literature from the Liberation to the First World War” by Milena Kirova and “Literacy and Literature in Bulgaria IX – XXI Century” by Valeri Stefanov et. al., including two more volumes “Bulgarian Literature in the XXI Century (2000 – 2022)” again by M. Kirova – as large-scale and presentable models for making national literary histories in this globalist century. The main goal of the study is to derive six theses – on overcoming easy and unilinear historicism, on the different heterogeneity of methodological paradigms, on the specificity in structure and languages, on the changing relation to the canon and the periphery, on new interpretations or divergent readings, on the “illustrative” plan as a supplementary text for reading, which clearly show the correlations between the tactical pushback from traditions and the partial gravitation towards the new taste of the times.

Abstract:
Purpose – Institutional repositories constitute an integral part of present day digital libraries allowing global access to scholarly publications and provides an opportunity for future research enhancement and long term preservation of information. Electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) represent a growing segment of available content in institutional repositories where they contribute to the impact and ranking of their institutions. The present study traces the growth and development of online e-theses repositories in Asia within the broader framework of open access. Design/methodology/approach – The present study tries to discover the composition of ETD repositories in Asia based on the seven key parameters, i.e. country, types, language, disciplines, software, content types and repository policies. To achieve the stated objectives, the ETD repositories developed by Asian countries were identified by selecting the database of OpenDOAR (Directory of Open Access Repositories) and the retrieved data were thoroughly analyzed for the necessary information. Findings – Theses and dissertations are considered an important part of information resources in any institution. They are often the only source of research work. Unfortunately, access to these valuable unpublished resources is often restricted to parent institution only. The authors found that ETD repositories are addressing this problem by making institutional knowledge available online and thereby not only increasing its visibility and use, but also making them contribute to the impact and ranking of their institutions. Asian countries are beginning to embrace the idea of digitizing, archiving and making their theses and dissertations available online. The study found that more than half of all IRs listed in the directory of OpenDOAR contain ETDs. ETD system is growing fast in some Asian countries. However, the number of universities having e-theses repositories is meager considering the large number of quality academic and research institutions across Asian countries. Practical implications – The paper argues that ETD repositories not only benefit students and institutions by enhancing education and expanding research, but also by increasing a university’s visibility and use and thereby contributing to the impact and ranking of its parent institutions. Originality/value – The study hopes to heighten awareness of research being conducted in Asia and its contribution to a global knowledge base. Some of the suggestions to improve the existing conditions and strengthen the growth rate of ETDs in Asia are also presented.

Schooling embodies salvation themes of North American and European modernity. The salvation themes are mutations of Enlightenments’ project of emancipation through the use of reason and rationality in achieving a universal progress for humanity. The school was produced the modes of life in which the cosmopolitan liberty and freedom could be produced. The emancipatory project entailed cultural theses about the child and society that entailed ironies and paradoxes of modernity in at least two different layers. First, while the notions of cosmopolitanism were to transcend the local and provincial, it was linked to the formation of the modern state that was dependent on for its existence. Second, the hopes of cosmopolitan freedom embodied fears about dangers and dangerous the people who did not embody the qualities and characteristics of the new citizen. This discussion explores the manner in which hopes and fears are embedded in the practices of the pedagogical sciences at the turn of 20th Century concerned with planning in which the child and the family were and should be. The practices of sciences embodied a comparative style of reason through which the hope for inclusion established principles that divided and differentiated particular qualities and people so as exclude in the inclusionary gestures.

Abstract:
Children are in constant growth and development. It is rather important to evaluate the development of those children in the process of growth and development. The child development studies help the improvement of realistic expectations about children, the immediate recognition of the children’s behavior that deviates from normal during improvement period and the making of a proper direction. The specialists studying over children can evaluate the development of child by using formal and informal tools. Standardized and/or non-standardized measurement tools are used in the evaluation of developments in Turkey, and the studies using these tools are published in the literature. One of the important problems related to infancy and early childhood period in our country is stated as the fact that developmental evaluations of children in this period are conducted using methods with no scientific validity from time to time. Therefore, the studies for determining the developmental evaluation tools used in studies made to determine children is gaining importance. Depending on this, it is aimed to investigate the tools of developmental evaluation used in graduate theses in Turkey. This study was made with document analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods. Criterion sampling method was used for determining the sampling. The use of developmental evaluation tools in graduate theses archived by the Higher Education Council National Thesis Center and the publication of the thesis in the last fifteen years were accepted as criteria in the study and 298 graduate theses meeting this criterion were examined. According to the results of this study, it was concluded that standardized developmental assessment tools are widely used in Turkey in graduate theses, the most frequently used tools are "Denver II Developmental Assessment Tools" and "Ankara Developmental Screening Inventory", and developmental assessment tools are frequently used in hospitals.  When examined in sampling groups, it was determined that they commonly focused on children in early childhood period.  Conclusion, developmental assessment is too important to reduce to a single tool. It should be noted that developmental assessment is comprehensive and the result of the assessment affects the life of the child and the family.

Abstract:
Although there are numerous similarities between Duhem and Quine, there are strong arguments which suggest that what can be isolated as Quine?s thesis would be unacceptable to Duhem. On the other hand, they both share Duhem?s holistic thesis: empirical statements are interconnected in such a way that they cannot be confirmed or refuted taken in isolation. Since Quine?s holism is more radical, as we shall show, his thesis claims that we can always keep a statement by making necessary adjustments somewhere else in the system. We will try to show that only the first thesis can be rightfully ascribed to Duhem, that these two thesis are not identical, and that they are both different from what is usually called the theses of underdetermination. As we shall see, neither of them speaks about the possibility of empirically equivalent theories. They are, first and foremost, holistic theses which, under certain additional assumptions, have the thesis of underdetermination as their consequence.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract This article analyzes Walter Benjamin's “Thirteen Theses Against Snobs” (1925), a cryptic text that explores the relationship between artworks and documents. The analysis originates from conversations between the author and her father, literary scholar Werner Hamacher, during her undergraduate years following her visit to Documenta 11 in 2002. Through close reading and translation work, Hamacher examines Benjamin's complex binary oppositions between artworks and documents, revealing how these distinctions remain relevant to contemporary discussions about documentary practices, particularly in the age of AI and digital manipulation. The article provides a detailed interpretation of each of Benjamin's thirteen theses, which are presented in both German and English. Hamacher argues that Benjamin's text positions itself between genres, combining thesis statements with narrative and poetic elements. The analysis reveals how Benjamin characterizes artworks as synthetic, meaning-focused creations that intensify through repeated viewing, while documents are portrayed as analytical tools dominated by subject matter that impact through surprise. The article demonstrates how Benjamin's framework continues to offer valuable insights into current debates about facticity, the politics of perception, and the evolution of documentary forms in contemporary art. This interpretation serves both as a scholarly analysis and a personal document, as Hamacher chose to preserve her early-career reading of the text rather than revising it, making the article itself a testament to the complex relationship between document and artwork that Benjamin explores.

Drawing insights from existing studies on research synthesize (e.g. Farsani & Babaii, 2018/2020; Plonsky & Oswald, 2015), this study engages in a meta-analysis of MPhil theses from the Department of English, University of Cape Coast (UCC), in order to make a case for new directions for language research in the department. A critical content analytical approach was adopted to analyse eighteen (18) theses purposively sampled from the University of Cape Coast Institutional Theses Repository. The analysis focused on the research topics/domains, theoretical frameworks adopted, and research methods used. The study revealed following: (a) most of the studies were conducted in the domain of the media; (b) while most of the studies employed the qualitative research paradigm, very few adopted the mixed method approach and no study employed the quantitative approach; and (c) most of the studies were underpinned by the Systemic Functional Linguistic (SFL) theory while few employed the Theory of Nativization and Genre Theory. The study contends that there should be a shift in the focus of MPhil thesis to make it possible for the adoption of the mixed method and quantitative approaches as well as theories such as pragmatics, language variation, generative linguistics and corpus stylistics.

This study, premised on the assumption that students over-use citations in academic writing, investigated manifestations of over-citation in three PhD theses. A review of diverse pragmatic functions citations serve, helped in the identification of needless citations which lacked consonance with any of the functions. A content-context analysis of the pragmatic function of each citation in the three theses, revealed over-citation and superfluity in the theses. Manifestations of over-citation included: expressing general or common-sense information; using multiple citations to make a simple point; citing sources to express what the writer did; attributing own deductions and inferences to authors; not following-up on citations; repeating concepts and attendant citations in different parts of the thesis; making most thesis sections literature sections; citing individual words not ideas, unclear content of citation, independent citation of each source for the same idea, over-using a source within a paragraph or section, citing back to back, evincing citation density to the eye. On the basis of the varied manifestations of over-citation and the extent of its compromise on the quality of student presentations, the study recommends sustained efforts in developing sound academic writing skills even at postgraduate levels, and sensitisation of students to pragmatic purposes citations should serve.

In this paper I will argue the six theses that define my approach to contemporary art making in dance animateuring practice: 1) The dancer should never aim to produce something specific but only to be present. 2) The performance shows that everyone can dance. 3) The performance is born from action, not from an idea. 4) The performance is multisensory and multidisciplinary artwork. 5) The performance is incomplete and ambiguous. 6) The performance challenges the conventional ways of seeing the world and people.

Students, as researchers, require valuable resources related to their fields, such as theses and dissertations. Educational and research institutions should support open access to ensure that information is readily available to researchers, scholars, and students. However, some educational and research centers refrain from making their theses and dissertations accessible, citing various reasons for this lack of access. This research aims to identify these reasons and address them. To this end, a list of factors influencing open access to theses and dissertations is first extracted based on the results of previous studies. Then, to complete and finalize this list, the impact of these factors is examined using the Delphi method and a questionnaire. The Delphi panel in this study consists of 14 faculty members from educational and research institutions in Tehran, selected through purposive sampling. The results of this research indicate that factors such as regulations and policies, social impact, information technology, author credibility, visibility, perceptual awareness, attitudes toward open access, self-efficacy in knowledge dissemination, controllability, perceptual compatibility, and culture significantly influence open access to theses and dissertations.

In this paper, I would like to offer a solution to the problem (related to lingering properties) that Balashov poses to the joint acceptance of these theses. I will also offer a number of reasons why, even if it is not necessary to undermine Balashov’s counterexamples, stage theorists can, without making their theory less appealing, reject Balashov’s understanding of sorts, which plays a crucial role in his criticisms of stage universalism.

The chemistry thesaurus can provide conceptual maps of the field of chemistry. Comparing and analyzing the scientific information from chemistry theses with these conceptual maps yields a map of scientific research in chemistry within the country. Thus, a new application of thesauri in the analysis of scientific information is proposed. The most significant advantage of this method is the ability to obtain a detailed map of scientific research across the most specific branches of each scientific field. The map of scientific research in chemistry can play a key role in major research policy-making, the relationship between universities and industry, and educational planning at the graduate level. In this article, conceptual maps of chemistry are first introduced. Then, using the patterns derived from these conceptual maps, the scientific information from chemistry theses available in the database of the Iranian Research Institute for Information Science and Technology over a decade (1998-2009) is analyzed.

Abstract:
This study attempts to investigate the choice of theme and thematic progression deployed in one of the considerably best undergraduate theses in a university in Indonesia. The choice of theme and thematic progression is constrained by the audience of a particular culture; therefore, the process of meaning making is culturally situated. The university, in effects, has its standard for grading academic writing, representing a culture that shapes meaning making processes. This study particularly focuses on how theme and thematic progression contributes to making meanings to meet the demands of the institution. This study employs a descriptive-qualitative research design embracing the characteristics of a case study approach. The data obtained from the best undergraduate student’s thesis were analyzed from the perspective of Halliday’s theme system and its progression. The analysis shows that the three types of theme: topical, interpersonal and textual themes, were realized in the thesis following the conventional features of good academic writings. The topical theme dominantly occupies the theme system chosen for the thesis. This study confirms that a good academic text shares its characteristics across cultures, suggesting that the teaching of academic writing in one culture could refer to the characteristics of good academic texts in other cultures.

Abstract:
AbstractDoctoral studies have remained the most advanced training for potential academics and scholars all over the world. Also, the research products of doctoral studies, that is, doctoral theses, are the flagships of original research efforts from universities and research institutes across the globe. Against this background, this paper examines the growth and development of doctoral training in the Department of History of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. It also provides bibliographic and historiographical analyses of the twenty-nine doctoral theses submitted to the Department in its sixty years of existence from 1961 to 2021. It shows that doctoral research outputs from the Department are based on oral, ethnographic and documentary evidence on major historical developments in the pre-colonial, colonial and postcolonial Yorubaland, Nigeria, and neighbouring West African states like Benin Republic and the Gambia. The article concludes that doctoral training and theses at Ife have resulted in landmark historical publications and have produced renowned historians who are making scholarly waves within and outside Nigeria.

Abstract:
AbstractThis article briefly considers how the integration of the biophysical world into our analyses of the past can enhance our understanding of the socio-economic inequalities of the modern world. Taking Ulbe Bosma's The Making of Periphery as its central reference point, it argues that the process of “peripheralization” – generally treated as an economic or social phenomenon – can also be usefully approached as an interaction between human and non-human forces. It uses the example of Southeast Asian rubber production to show how the different arrangements of people, plants, soil and water on European estates and indigenous smallholdings gave the latter distinct ecological advantages that boosted their oft-cited economic competitiveness, and that consequently forced plantations to extract even more value from cheap labour. In this sense, the environmental history of Southeast Asian rubber offers further evidence for Bosma's core theses about the heterogeneity of peripheralization processes and the importance of demography and labour relations in shaping them.

Abstract:
Theses and dissertations from graduate programs are among the most significant research outcomes of graduates in these fields. The main idea in these works originates from the student; however, the advisory group and educational institutions also play a role in completing the work. Nevertheless, the material and moral rights of each individual or entity involved in the completion of these works remain unclear. This study aims to examine this issue in Iran from a legal perspective.  The primary objective of this research is to conduct a comparative study of the relevant legal texts in Iran and two developed countries, namely the United States and Canada. Intellectual property rights are fundamental to the collection, organization, and dissemination of student theses and dissertations, making research in this area essential. The approach to addressing the research questions is qualitative, and the research method is "document analysis." The study's population includes regulations related to copyright, particularly concerning theses and dissertations in the selected countries. The findings of the research indicate that the attention given to copyright issues related to theses and dissertations in the regulations of universities in the United States and Canada is greater than that of Iranian institutions. Despite the influence of advisors, consultants, and reviewers on the thesis, the student is always considered the owner of the "work" and the rights arising from it, as defined by copyright law.

Abstract:
<p>Opportunities are the core of entrepreneurial process. By identifying, evaluating and exploiting lucrative opportunities, not only do entrepreneurs make profits for themselves, they also propel their societies to prosperity. In order to exploit opportunities, entrepreneurs need to make various decisions based on their evaluation of opportunities as well as their own capabilities. Most of the time, theses decision are made under reverse circumstances rife with uncertainty, ambiguity, lack of needed resources as well as high time pressure. Thus, it seems reasonable to hypothesize that entrepreneurs’ decisions to exploit opportunities are prone to decision making biases. In order to test this hypothesis, this paper conducted a qualitative content analysis approach by interviewing 17 Iranian entrepreneurs. According to our findings, overconfidence, escalation of commitment, planning fallacy and illusion of control are the common decision making biases in entrepreneurs’ decisions to exploit opportunities.</p>

Abstract: In Anna Burns's 2018 novel Milkman , the unnamed protagonist "middle sister" retrospectively confronts the tripartite levels of hegemony—political, social and personal—which dominated Troubles-era Belfast by recounting her own narrative of sexual abuse during the late 1970s. Walter Benjamin's Theses on the Philosophy of History , in particular his concept of "homogeneous empty time," apply to middle sister's narration of her experiences decades later as she confronts the male-dominated, nationalistic grand narratives of the Troubles. Middle sister's digressive re-narration of the past through "smaller," more personal events carry as much or more weight in Milkman than those events described by fascistic narratives, such that middle-sister's story is a feminist reclamation and redemption of her traumatic experiences.

Abstract:
The Ethiopian educational system has made promising advancements since the turn of the century. Despite this progress, education continues to grapple with a myriad of challenges, including differences in educational access and quality, insecure living conditions, and gender inequalities. Research can offer knowledge for tackling these challenges, but often it is knowledge from the global North that dominates, despite its questionable relevance to the global South. Therefore, this study analyses the evolvement of a Center for Comparative Education and Policy Studies, situated in an Ethiopian higher education context and supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), and how the Center has contributed to developing knowledge that is relevant to local contexts. An important outcome of the Center was the development of a doctoral program in International and Comparative Education and the knowledge produced in the doctoral theses that emerged. Our inquiry concerns how Southern theory contributes to an increased understanding of the development of the Center and the relevance of the doctoral theses. The findings underscore the importance of expanding Southern knowledge in education and the need for further reflection on the geopolitics of knowledge in research capacity development cooperation.

Abstract:
This systematic review examines research trends on women's leadership in South African higher education from 2010 to 2024, analyzing 98 academic works comprising 15 doctoral dissertations, 28 master's theses, and 55 journal articles. Using content analysis, the study identifies key themes, methodological approaches, and findings related to women's leadership advancement in academia. The analysis reveals five primary themes: leadership experiences, institutional transformation, leadership development, power and decision-making, and intersectionality. Results indicate a significant increase in research output during 2020-2024, comprising 60% of all studies. Qualitative methodologies dominated the research landscape (60%), while mixed methods approaches were least utilized (15%). Major findings highlight persistent institutional barriers, gaps between policy and implementation, resistance to cultural transformation, and inadequate enforcement of gender equity policies. The review identifies critical research gaps in rural institutions, technical universities, and departmental-level leadership experiences. Recommendations emphasize the need for longitudinal studies, diverse methodological approaches, and stronger policy implementation mechanisms to advance women's leadership in South African higher education.

Abstract:
This article assumes a priori that feminist epistemology must necessarily imply the definition and application of a methodology that is capable of analysing knowledge from a situated perspective, making visible the restrictions of gender, class, ethnicity, and in summary, of the social location. Feminist Standpoint Theory (FST) set out by authors such as Sandra Harding, calls on those who have not had access to power and areas of decision-making to participate in the construction of knowledge and in the social construction of reality. In this article, we will claim for a need of a sociological investigation based on FST and provide some examples and evidence of the knowledge generated by women's voices building on the analysis of 10 doctoral theses. The methodology used is based on the analysis of the topics chosen by the thesis, the formulation of its objectives and the bibliography used. Likewise, we have developed a so-called “Harding test” grounded on her postulates, which has allowed us to assess the doctoral theses analysed and to reflect about the empirical contributions of the research, the feminist commitment and what the subject / object relationship should be in feminist epistemology.

Abstract:
This paper develops three theses on a competency-based approach during and after the COVID-19 crisis. These theses are based on the following empirical findings: case insights into the procurement of protective gear in Germany, the supplier shortage, which was a problem even before the crisis, and a quantitative view on the extended supply chain challenges in public procurement, including the decreasing number of bidders and an overly narrow view on supply chain partners. A key finding is that while the COVID-19 crisis has uncovered the problems of public procurement, the root causes lie more deeply in public procurement capabilities. As a result, this paper promotes extended public buyer competencies based on a European Framework, evidence-based decision-making in public procurement and the use of digital technologies to improve the security of supplies.

Abstract:
The information explosion in the form of ETDs poses the challenge of management and extraction of appropriate knowledge for decision making by information practitioners. This study presents a solution to the problem by applying topic mining and prediction modeling to 441 full-text ETDs extracted from the PQDT Global database during 2014-2018 in the field of library science using the RapidMiner platform. This study was divided into three phases. In the first phase, metadata analysis of the ETDs retrieved from the database was performed to identify the association of various entities such as universities, departments, types of degrees, and geographical areas with the ETDs. In the second phase, 8 core topics namely children literature; academic library; information retrieval; archival science; user study; digital library; library leadership; and digital communication were determined using latent dirichlet allocation (LDA) and each ETD was then annotated with the modeled topic. Lastly, a prediction model using the Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier was created to classify the untagged ETDs going to be submitted in the database under the 8 modeled topics (a to h).

ArgumentDrawing and writing number among the most widespread scientific practices of representation. Neither photography, graphic recording apparatuses, typewriters, nor digital word- and image-processing ever completely replaced drawing and writing by hand. The interaction of hand, paper, and pen indeed involves much more than simply recording or visualizing what was previously thought, observed, or imagined. Both writing and drawing have the power to translate concepts and observations into two-dimensional, manageable, reproducible objects. They help to develop research questions and they open up an interaction between the gathering of phenomena and the formation of theses. Related to the manifold studies of representational activities in the sciences and the humanities, this topical issue tries to refine our understanding of the capacities of drawing and writing as research techniques; i.e. as productive epistemic practices. In particular the contributions address three aspects: the material conditions and configurations of the “scene of drawing and writing,” the involved procedures of production, and the languages of inscription.

Abstract:
Our paper is situated within the broader exploration of the epistemic and aesthetic potential of biomedical imaging technologies on the human lived experience. Intra-Active Sense-Making is guided by the grounding thesis that imaging technology ought to be understood as a set of material, rhetorical and performative processes, and as a way to challenge the ocularcentric presuppositions. By drawing on the new materialistic theses that phenomena are not pre-existent to intra-action, and that agency should be understood as distributed on human, animal, objectual, and ‘physical’ levels, we offer a performative understanding of biomedical imaging operations complementary to the reflective paradigm. Biomedical imaging may be understood through our idea of intra-active sense-making; while much literature states that medical imaging establishes a view of the self as quantified, atomized, and governable, we argue that the co-configuration of human senses and digital sensors is a source of new sense-making capabilities.

Objective: To determine the proportion of scientific articles published by health professionals in Neonatology services in Ecuador in the last 20 years. Theoretical framework: Perinatal research is a priority in public health. Writing a thesis allows students to acquire research skills. Publishing these findings in indexed journals ensures their validity and relevance, becoming references for future studies, systematic reviews, hospital protocols and clinical guidelines. Method: Bibliometric study that examined the temporal evolution, research design, language, affiliations, keywords, journals and academic degrees of thesis writers. The search was carried out in databases and repositories from the last 20 years, using Zotero, Mendeley, Rayyan and R for the analysis. Results and Discussion: It was identified that 13% of the theses were published in indexed journals in Ecuador. (79%) corresponded to postgraduate studies in pediatrics and neonatology. Almost half (48.97%) were published in local journals and the majority (63.69%) in Spanish. The low rate of scientific publication is a common problem in Spanish-speaking countries. Ecuador contributes only 0.11% of world publications. Research implications: Strengthen research training for students and encourage other professionals involved in newborn care to publish their theses. Originality/Value: The publication of theses as scientific articles contributes to the advancement of knowledge. This process broadens the scope of research, enhancing its impact and application in clinical practice and evidence-based decision-making.

Abstract:
It is vital that subjects such as the circular economy, sustainable design, green computing or environmental engineering be included in the engineering curriculum. Education for sustainable development will enable engineers to develop sustainable products and provide sustainable services, thereby leading to a beneficial result for society and making an indispensable contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals achievement. As the last stage for students in academia, Degree Theses (Bachelor’s and Master’s) provide a good tool for reviewing the sustainability competencies developed during the degree, as well as being an opportunity for applying these competencies in a holistic way. In their Degree Theses, students should be able to demonstrate that they are aware of the need to introduce and assess sustainability in their future engineering projects. This paper presents a guide aimed at helping engineering students to design and develop sustainable projects, and analyzes the first results of its use in two schools of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya—BarcelonaTech. The proposal is based on a tool referred to as “the Sustainability Matrix”, in which cells contain questions that engineering students should take into account when undertaking their Degree Theses. The questions are related to the project development, the project exploitation and the possible risks involved, three aspects in accordance with the sustainability dimensions (economic, environmental and social). The Sustainability Matrix helps students to develop sustainable projects when they graduate, and teachers to assess how sustainability is incorporated across the curriculum in the subjects they teach and in the students’ Degree Theses.

Abstract:
The spread of the COVID-19 pandemic presents challenges for higher education institutions, especially in Indonesia's border areas. The transformation of face-to-face learning models to distance learning models impacts the learning experience of students, especially those who are completing writing research proposals and theses that require adequate information literacy skills. This study aims to explore the effect of student learning experiences on information literacy skills. The research data were obtained from respondents from four universities in Merauke. Purposive sampling technique is used with the criteria of students who have taken research methodology courses and are taking or have taken proposal seminar courses. One hundred respondents have filled out a questionnaire distributed online. Based on the data analysis, learning experiences contributed 17.60% to students' information literacy skills. Furthermore, each increase in student learning experiences will contribute to 0.40% of information literacy skills. These research findings can be valuable information to be developed to the next stage in making modules and learning media that can provide a good quality learning experience to improve student literacy skills, especially in writing research proposals/theses. With this module or learning media, it is hoped that it can prepare students to write research proposals and theses.

Abstract:
Science communication or communication of science and society has become very important in 21st century because of an ever-growing role of science and technology in people’s lives. People themselves have in turn increasingly been engaged in science and technology decision-making. Science communication has been researched abroad for several decades, became meanwhile an independent field of study of which dissertations and thesis are a part. This article describes the collection of international doctoral dissertations included in the world’s most comprehensive repository ProQuest Dissertation & Theses Global (PQDT). Taking into consideration the global terminology controversy and the lack of a unified definition of “science communication”, the first stage of study was a combined keyword search using the search terms selected from the PQDT index: attitudes towards science, citizen science, popularization of science, post normal science, public engagement with science, public understanding of science, science communication, scientific literacy. The search resulted in 2213 dissertations written in 1950–2022 in 11 languages from 19 countries. Further analysis showed that the most active research is being carried out in the USA, China, and the UK. 77 % of the works were written in English, 22 % in Chinese. The first works dated back to the 1950s, but an exponential increase in the number of dissertations began only in the 1980s and could be explained by a new policy making formulated in many countries in the second half of the 1980s to ensure developing and improving science communication. At the second stage, another search was carried out for each term separately to have a picture of trends. It is revealed that until the early 2000s the main dissertation topics were attitude towards science and scientific literacy. In the 2000s, such developing topics as public engagement with science, citizen science, and post-normal science reflected the changing nature of science communication and the transition from the one-way communication model “from scientists to public” to models of public participation and engagement. Since the 2010s, research interests have been shifted to public engagement and new ways of scientists and non-scientists interaction. One of the most actively developing directions is the co-production of knowledge aka citizen science, but the problem of scientific literacy also still remains relevant.

Abstract:
This study presents the results of analysis of national doctrinal approaches to the crime of coercion to making declarations. The subject under study is based on a sufficient doctrinal foundation, while the analysis of the national doctrine contributes, to a significant extent, to highlighting a bigger number of aspects thereof. This publication makes a reference to the scientific theses of the scientists from our country concerning the crime under analysis. There are highlighted the concepts, opinions and ideas of the theoreticians, whose analysis contributes to: settling certain theoretical challenges concerning the legal nature of such a deed as coercion to making declarations; defining certain notions that are used to formulate this standard; delimiting the crime of coercion to making declarations from certain related criminal or noncriminal deeds; and identifying some potential legislative gaps in the provisions of Article 309 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova ‘Coercion to Making Declarations’.

Abstract:
The present work is the result of a bibliographical research carried out between the years 2011 and 2012. It analyzes the influence that the work “À Paz Perpétua”, by the philosopher Kant, from 1795, exerted on contemporary international law and on the emergence of important supranational institutions of law: the League of Nations and the United Nations. We aim to investigate the essential theses of the work, establish a parallel between these theses and international law and demonstrate its importance for the emergence of these international organizations. In this book, Kant analyzes the essential conditions for establishing a lasting peace between nations, making considerations about important concepts in contemporary international law, such as: international agreements and conventions, national sovereignty, colonialism and imperialism, disarmament, international trade, democratic state of law, ethnocentrism, tolerance, human rights and democracy. In addition, he defends the need to establish a supranational federation of law, capable of mediating relations between nations.

Abstract:
Carrying out doctoral studies is an opportunity to develop useful skills not only in the academic career, but in any human activity: data collection, information analysis, communication, organization and decision-making. Considering this fact, the doctoral theses of 7 members of the Government of the Republic of Moldova who hold the scientifi c doctor’s degree were analyzed in the study. It is noted that the theses are defended in political science, law, economics, medicine and mathematics and that the current activity of the ministers has connections, for the most part, with doctoral research topics. In this way, doctoral studies can help members of the Government to perform their functional duties more eff ectively, including in the development of scientifi c evidence-based strategies and policies and the establishment of important domestic and international cooperations, and also generate hopes that the authorities will try to improve the situation of science in the Republic of Moldova, thereby reducing the gaps in this chapter compared to the European Union.

Abstract:
The discussion chapter holds a paramount position in a thesis, being regarded as the most crucial and challenging part to compose, particularly for university students. The present genre investigation highlighted the focus on language use and communicative practices. This research seeks to investigate the rhetorical organization, moves, and steps, employed by Indonesian postgraduates while writing the discussion chapter of their theses within the field of Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). We examined five theses from postgraduate students whose data were obtained from the university repository. Data were analyzed with the framework proposed by Chen and Kuo (2012). The overall word count is 9204 words. From the analysis conducted, it was found that Move 2 Step 1: Reporting major findings (41.4%), Move 4 Step 2: comparing the results with literature (21.9%), and Move 4 Step 3: accounting for results (20.7%) were highly used in the data. However, two steps were least used in the data; namely, Move 3 Step 1: making conclusions of results and Move 6 Step 2: indicating the significance of the study. Our findings provide insights into how postgraduates structure their arguments, present findings, and interact with existing literature.
