В системах по видаленню вологи з потоку досить широко використовуються ефект дроселювання, керування яким здійснюється за допомогою дросельної засувки. При цьому зміна параметрів потоку впливає на кількість вологи неоднозначно. Одночасно із зміною температури точки роси потоку змінюється швидкість виносу крапель, що утворюються внаслідок дроселювання. Ці обставини підвищують вимоги до точності позиціонування засувки, яка керується відповідним регулятором потоку.
