Abstract:
The present study introduces the use of absorption energy as a parameter in thermal diffusion for explaining and predicting experimental results in laser welding. The developed parameter was utilized for the welding experiments of polybutyleneterephthalate (PBT). It was found that maximum welding strength values lie almost in the same range of absorption energy values for all cap thickness and scan velocity values considered in this work. One may then conclude that the absorption energy in thermal diffusion is an essential parameter for predicting experimental results in laser welding.

Absorption spectroscopy has been widely used in gemstone societies as it enables the identification of the origin and post-treatment of gemstones in a non-destructive way. The infrared (IR) range is critical for studies of gemstones such as corundum, emerald, and diamond. Regarding the corundum sample, absorption peaks related to the -OH bond could be used as an index for heat-treatment detection, and different types of inclusions could be identified by analyzing the IR absorption spectrum. The most widely used method for measuring IR absorptions is Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTI

Abstract. A new method for the satellite remote sensing of different types of vegetation and ocean colour is presented. In contrast to existing algorithms relying on the strong change of the reflectivity in the red and near infrared spectral region, our method analyses weak narrow-band (few nm) reflectance structures (i.e. "fingerprint" structures) of vegetation in the red spectral range. It is based on differential optical absorption spectroscopy (DOAS), which is usually applied for the analysis of atmospheric trace gas absorptions. Since the spectra of atmospheric absorption and vegetation r

Several approaches for estimation of fractional zinc absorption (FZA) by calculating the ratio of oral to intravenous stable isotopic tracer concentrations (at an appropriate time) in urine or plasma after their simultaneous administration have been proposed in the last decade. These simple-to-implement approaches, often referred to as the double isotopic tracer ratio (DITR) method, are more attractive than the classical “deconvolution” method and the more commonly used single-tracer methods based on fecal monitoring and indicator dilution, after oral or intravenous tracer administration, resp

Accurate and reliable detection of coal mine gases is the key to ensuring the safe service of coal mine production. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, due to its high sensitivity, non-destructive nature, and potential for online monitoring, has emerged as a key technique in gas detection. However, the complex underground environment often causes baseline drift in IR spectra. Furthermore, the variety of gas species and uneven distribution of concentrations make it difficult to achieve precise and reliable online analysis using existing quantitative methods. Liquid absorption ability belongs to the most important features of tissue papers. Due to non-homogeneous internal and superficial structures, precise and fast evaluation of this property is challenging. The main aim of the presented research was to design an experimental device dedicated to the measurement of the kinetics of wetting phenomenon for tissue papers. The second aim was to evaluate whether it was possible to use image analysis for more precise characterization of liquid absorption properties of tissue paper. The obtained results showed that the method used, based on image analysis

AbstractThe mass absorption coefficient is a useful parameter for quantitative characterization of materials. If the chemical composition of a sample is known, the mass absorption coefficient can be calculated directly. However, the mass absorption coefficient must be determined empirically if the chemical composition is unknown. Traditional methods for determining the mass absorption coefficient involve measuring the transmission of monochromatic X-rays through a sample of known thickness and density. A novel class of solvent has been effectively employed in absorption technology in recent decades to eliminate CO2. The process of employing nanofluids to enhance CO2 uptake is receiving a lot of attention. However, other studies are needed to enhance the nanofluid absorption rate. The purpose of this study was to use nanofluid (based on amines) to optimize the absorption process for CO2 from flue gas. The technique was designed to extract C
