Abstract:
This paper studies the single-sideband RF signals in the optical carrier side than the problem. RF signals modulated optical carrier OSSB + C modulation index is usually small, leading edge modulated carrier radio frequency signal generated by the optical carrier ratio is not ideal. A design scheme based on three-arm and four-arm MZM MZM optimized optical carrier single sideband radio frequency signal containing the edge ratio. By adjusting the DC bias voltage of the modulator can control the carrier side than the light signal. For any modulation index, are able to make the optical carrier single sideband radio frequency signal containing edges than the optimal value of 0 dB, improving the performance of the system. The simulation also verify their feasibility.

Abstract:
The traditional technique of generating MPSK signals is basically to use IQ modulator that involves analog processing like multiplication and addition where inaccuracies may exist and would lead to imbalance problems that affects the output modulated signal and hence the overall performance of the system. In this paper, a simple method is presented for generating the MPSK using logic circuits that basically generated M-carrier signals each carrier of different equally spaced phase shift. Then these carriers are time multiplexed, according to the data symbols, into the output modulated signal.

Abstract:
A novel insertion pilot-frequency signal method for doubling frequency radio on fiber (ROF) system is proposed. At the center station (CS), the carrier emitting from the continuous wave (CW) laser is split into two branches. In one branch, a composite RF drive signal formed by combining the data modulated by a phased modulator (PM) and the data gained by an electrical gainer (EG) is loaded to the Mach-Zehnder modulator (MZM) to produce ± 1th order sideband signals. The data signal of down link is modulated only on −1th order sideband. The other branch is used as the pilot signal. At the base station (BS), the pilot signal is reflected out using a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) and used as the carrier for the uplink. The signal passing through the FBG is sent into the photodetector, and the twofold millimeter wave signal is generated. The mathematical analysis and simulated experiment are given. The innovation of this paper is to introduce the pilot optical signal method for carrier reuse in ROF, it can overcome the poor tunability and degraded downlink performance in the conventional carrier reuse in ROF. The effect of bit walk-off is eliminated due to the data of downlink and uplink being modulated on the −1th and 0th order sideband respectively.

Abstract:
With the development of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), multiple signals modulated on different sub-carriers are needed to provide various services and to ensure compatibility with previous signals. As an effective method to provide diversified signals without introducing the nonlinear distortion of High Power Amplifier (HPA), the multi-carrier constant envelope multiplexing is widely used in satellite navigation systems. However, the previous method does not consider the influence of sub-carrier frequency constraint on the multiplexing signal, which may lead to signal power leakage. By determining the signal states probability according to the sub-carrier frequency constraint and solving the orthogonal bases according to the homogeneous equations, this article proposed multi-carrier constant envelope multiplexing methods based on probability and homogeneous equations. The analysis results show that the methods can multiplex multi-carrier signals without power leakage, thereby reducing the impact on signal ranging performance. Meanwhile, the methods could reduce the computation complexity. In the case of three different carriers multiplexing, the number of optimization equations is reduced by nearly 66%.

Abstract:
Signals carrying information are encoded in molecular vibrational waves (vibronics) rather than in electric currents as widely done in microelectronics. We demonstrate theoretically that signals can be transmitted along a long polypeptide molecule; the signal is modulated in a terahertz carrier corresponding to a frequency of an intrinsic vibrational mode of the backbone of the polypeptide, via amplitude and frequency modulations. The modulated carrier is coupled as a vibrational wave to the polypeptide at one end of the molecule and propagates for more than 168 Å towards the other end. Digital signal processing techniques are used to recover the modulated signals.

Abstract:
The optical fiber is well adapted to pass multiple wireless signals having different carrier frequencies by using radio-over-fiber (ROF) technique. However, multiple wireless signals which have the same carrier frequency cannot propagate over a single optical fiber, such as wireless multi-input multi-output (MIMO) signals feeding multiple antennas in the fiber wireless (FiWi) system. A novel optical frequency upconversion (OFU) technique is proposed to solve this problem. In this paper, the novel OFU approach is used to transmit three wireless MIMO signals over a 20 km standard single mode fiber (SMF). The OFU technique exploits one optical source to produce multiple wavelengths by delivering it to a LiNbO3external optical modulator. The wireless MIMO signals are then modulated by LiNbO3optical intensity modulators separately using the generated optical carriers from the OFU process. These modulators use the optical single-sideband with carrier (OSSB+C) modulation scheme to optimize the system performance against the fiber dispersion effect. Each wireless MIMO signal is with a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz carrier frequency, 1 Gb/s data rate, and 16-quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM). The crosstalk between the wireless MIMO signals is highly suppressed, since each wireless MIMO signal is carried on a specific optical wavelength.

Abstract:
This paper aims to delve into the design and implementation aspects of an OQPSK (Offset Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) modulator within the context of modem technology, underscoring its pivotal role in contemporary information technology infrastructure. The research primarily focuses on elucidating the theoretical foundations of OQPSK modulation, which represents an enhancement of QPSK modulation techniques. Central to the design is the utilization of a multiplexer to select one carrier signal out of four, which is subsequently modulated by data bits. Furthermore, the modulator employs two square wave signals phased 90 degrees apart, which are transformed into differential sinusoidal signals to constitute the carrier signal. Operating frequencies encompass a 5 MHz streaming data bits frequency and a 10 MHz clock frequency. Simulation results validate the efficacy of the OQPSK modulator by demonstrating its capability to generate modulated signals at a robust data transfer rate of 20 Mbps. This underscores the modulator's effectiveness in transmitting digital data over analog communication channels. In conclusion, the designed OQPSK modulator exemplifies its proficiency in efficiently modulating and demodulating signals, thereby bolstering connectivity and communication across diverse societal sectors. This research contributes significantly to the advancement of modem technology, which is indispensable for the expansion and maintenance of modern communication networks, ensuring robust connectivity in the digital age.

Abstract:
In addition, a new scheme, which makes use of a per survivor processing, is propoed. In this scheme, each trellis state has an associated phase estimate which is generated by a data-aided PLL-like algorithm, based on the survivor sequence associated to that state. Some useful expressions are developed to help the parameters selection for use on the estimation algorthm. These expressions are based on a simplified linear analysis which are carried out on both transient and stationary cases. We compare the proposed scheme performance to others schemes by means of computer simulation. These results show that the new scheme has better performance in terms of bit-error-rate.

Abstract:
The challenge of carrier recovery for digitally phase modulated, suppressed-carrier signals has been the target of much attention in mobile radio system design for many years. Code division multiple access (CDMA) cellular systems are now being deployed in mobile environments, and the performance of carrier recovery for CDMA is much less well understood. CDMA systems typically utilize lower bit energies, relying instead upon coding gain for reliable performance. As an additional challenge, the multiple access interference (MAI) inherent to direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DSSS) signalling further hampers many carrier recovery techniques. This thesis first surveys general carrier recovery strategies, conventional as well as new, and then applies them to the particular task of recovering a suppressed carrier in mobile CDMA systems. First some of the theory surrounding conventional, closed-loop, carrier recovery techniques and several newer open-loop estimation structures, based on the maximum likelihood (ML) principle is presented. A novel decision-feedback ML phase estimator is proposed. The statistical behavior of this new structure as well as the related squaring estimator are examined and are shown to be equivalent to the stochastic performance of classical closed-loop techniques. Candidate receivers based upon closed- and open-loop carrier recovery structures are proposed and then examined via simulation. Both forward and reverse cellular links are examined under a variety of both of single-path and multipath conditions. The notion of exploiting cyclostationary MAI in CDMA systems by applying adaptive receiver techniques is also examined, especially as this scheme relies to some extent upon coherent carrier recovery for its promising performance enhancements. This work concludes with recommendations of the best carrier recovery strategies for the variety of environments examined and suggestions for future research are made.<br>Master of Science

Abstract:
This thesis work is part of the process of continuous improvement of the efficiency and linearity of power amplifiers in presence of signals on modulated carriers used in modern telecommunications systems. These signals have a high PAPR and a statistical envelope distribution centered below the envelope peak value. As a result, conventional power amplifiers (Class AB fixed bias) are often oversized to meet the needs of the telecom industry. The envelope tracking technique has been used to increase the PAE along the OBO (10 dB for LTE) while maintaining a constant power gain associated to a good linearity in terms of AM/AM conversion. A power amplifier design method in MMIC technology based on the use of GaN HEMTs has been developed and is used to design an APdelivering an output power of 4W and operating in K-band [17-20GHz]. The realized APwas then coupled to a digital drain bias modulator. The APand bias modulator assembly constituting an envelope tracking system called APSE was characterized in terms of efficiency and linearity in presence of modulated signals. The APSE shows very interesting performances compared to those obtained with a fixed bias AP. Indeed, at an OBO of about 7dB, in the [17-20GHz] band, the PAE is improved by [10-7.5]. The average PAE along the OBO varies between 32 and 36% over the considered band and it is associated to an EVM varying between 5 and 1.6% with a quasi-static DPD applied to the baseband signal. The characterizations of APSE have demonstrated the interest of the use of envelope tracking power amplifiers in modern telecommunications systems

Abstract:
The dissertation thesis deals with the investigation of the coexistence of GSM–EDGE and UMTS systems with focus on the physical layer of the systems. The aim is to provide a set of recommendations for practical cooperation while the systems operate in both the separated and the common radio bands. A detailed description of signal processing of both the systems on the physical layer is presented. On the basis of this description, models of both systems were created and implemented in the MATLAB environment. The simulations are focused on the physical layer quality parameters, especially the bit error ratio evaluation for various ratios of useful signal power to noise power during the transmission over the radio channel. Simulation is also used to examine the quality of received useful signal while it is interfered by signals from the same and adjacent channels. The purpose is to determine the isolation between these adjacent channels, when the bit error ratio of the useful signal does not exceed a certain reference value. The simulation results are subsequently subjected to comparison with the results of the experimental measurements in laboratory conditions. Before the measurements are carried out, a study of possible interference types is performed. Consequently, the crucial parameters of the measuring equipment used are verified. From the results of simulations and measurements, the proposal of a minimum and recommended carrier separation between both the systems is presented in order to efficiently utilize the assigned frequency spectrum. Furthermore, for the cooperation in both the separated and the common radio bands, the necessary precautions are given for reaching the required isolation and thereby inter-system interference minimization.

Abstract:
The monography presents the fundamentals of the theory of construction new-generation modems. Modems are built on the principles of statistical communication theory, based on the use of a random signal (chaos) as a carrier of information. In such a signal, a characteristic function is modulated, which is a fundamental characteristic of a random process. The signal modulation and demodulation method is patented and allows you to create modems with efficiency and noise immunity indicators several orders of magnitude higher than those of the known devices of the same name. New-generation modems immediately improve the technical characteristics of digital IT equipment by several orders of magnitude, since they work without errors in wired and radio channels when receiving one hundred duodecillion of binary symbols. The book is recommended for scientists and specialists in the field of digital communication systems, statistical radio engineering and instrumentation, and may be useful for graduate students, masters and students of relevant specialties.

Abstract:
Abstract This chapter examines the extent of FM synthesis and how it can be achieved with Teensy microcontrollers. It introduces Frequency Modulation (FM) as a category of synthesis popularized by Yamaha’s DX7 in the 1980s. The core concept of FM synthesis revolves around one periodic signal that is used to modulate another signal called the carrier wave or modulated signal. The chapter then details how to create sidebands at frequencies equal to the carrier frequency plus and minus integer multiples of the modulator frequency. It explains that hands-on experimentation will provide a good foundation for more advanced applications even though the FM synthesizer project is relatively simple.

Abstract:
In the present article an attempt is made to compare multi-carrier and single carrier modulation schemes for wireless communication systems with the utilization of fast Fourier transform (FFT) and its inverse in both cases. With the assumption that in OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing), the inverse FFT transforms the complex amplitudes of the individual sub-carriers at the transmitter into time domain, the inverse operation is carried out at the receiver. In case of single carrier modulation, the FFT and its inverse are used at the input and output of the frequency domain equalizer in the receiver. Different single carrier and multi-carrier transmission systems are simulated with time-variant transfer functions measured with a wideband channel sounder. In case of OFDM, the individual sub-carriers are modulated with fixed and adaptive signal alphabets. Furthermore, a frequency-independent as well as the optimum power distribution are used. Single carrier modulation uses a single carrier, instead of the hundreds or thousands typically used in OFDM, so the peak-to-average transmitted power ratio for single carrier modulated signals is smaller. This in turn means that a SC system requires a smaller linear range to support a given average power. This enables the use of cheaper power amplifier as compared to OFDM system.[Article copies are available for purchase from InfoSci-on-Demand.com]

Abstract:
Abstract Laboratory experiments were carried out in deoxygenated brine with one bar CO2 and different concentrations of hydrogen carbonate. The experiments were of short duration, usually less than two hours. The electrochemical techniques used were cyclic voltametry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The cyclic voltammetry was performed with an AC modulated signal, so also impedance at a given frequency was obtained besides the DC results. The anodic dissolution rate below a pH about 6 took place with two different mechanisms. The change of mechanism presented itself in cyclic voltammetry by a maximum in the dissolution rate and a minimum in impedance. The anodic reactions did not follow Butler-Volmer kinetics. Impedance studies suggest that adsorption phenomena controlled the kinetics. For HCO3− concentration above 0.1 M carbon steel exhibited real passivity above a critical potential in chloride free solutions. When the potential was lowered in the back scan of cyclic voltammetry, significant changes of the film occurred, including reduction of iron in the passive film from the three-to two-valent state. Passivity was maintained despite large changes of the properties of the passive film. Chloride induced passivity breakdown and localized attack occurred above a pitting potential. However, the pitting potentials where this occurred were much higher than the corrosion potential of steels exposed to the formation water from oil-and gas wells.
