Abstract:
The submitted paper deals with the analysis of stand structure of mixed species natural forest located in the Carpathians, Middle Europe. In order to evaluation of structural diversity we chose the combination of distance independent and nearest-neighbor indices. Following structural indices were calculated: Shanon-Weaver index (S-W), diameter differentiation index (Td), Gigi coefficient (G), mingling index (DMi) and Clark Evans index (CEd). The permanent research plot with area of 2.5ha was established in National Naure Reserve Hrončecký grúň and subdivided into 25×25m subplots. The combination of mentioned indices was calculated for each subplot separately. Regarding the diameter heterogeneity, the most part of analyzed structures showed the moderate level of tree size differentiation (S-W value 0.393±0.074). The presence of high number of juvenile individuals which already reached the diameter category “above 2cm” did not significantly affect the diameter variation of investigated stand. On the other hand, a massive establishment of subsequent generation led to creation of spatial structure characteristic by high level of vertical differentiation (Gini coefficient 0.47 in the structure characterized as the breakdown with successive generation). High climax species richness was confirmed by calculated values of DMi index (maximum relative presence in the category from 0.3 to 0.4). Each tree was surrounded by two and more different species individuals. Analysis discovers the negative developmental shift in the DMi values towards to less differentiated structures. Regarding the horizontal distribution the analysis of CEd values indicated that investigated natural forest can reveal a random distribution of individuals regardless of developmental stage.

Abstract:
Acromegaly is a rare disease most often caused by the prolonged secretion of excess growth hormone from a pituitary adenoma. The disease is associated with multiple significant comorbidities and increased mortality. The delay to diagnosis is often long. This may be because of low disease awareness among health care professionals, the insidious onset of differentiating features, and because patients are likely to present with complaints typical of other conditions more frequently seen in primary care. Early identification of acromegaly facilitates prompt treatment initiation and may minimize the permanent effects of excess growth hormone. The primary treatment for many patients will be pituitary surgery, although not all patients will be eligible for surgery or achieve a surgical cure

Abstract:

Abstract:
In this paper the brief development and contemporary trends in modern military psychology, in theory and praxis, were presented. The origins and concepts of psychological warfare and its basic characteristics were discussed. Also, similar terms, modified with conceptual frameworks and contemporary development of military sciences, like special warfare, hybrid warfare, asymmetric warfare, cyber warfare, low-intensity conflict, public diplomacy, total warfare, were disucssed. The development of modern weapons and technologies brings changes in the perception of importance of psychological warfare of itself, but also different possibilities of use of modern techniques in it. The special opportunity presents social networks, characterized by hugh speed, wide spread network, different modes, adaptibility, avaliability and simplicity of use. All these changes also broght some changes in definition of psychological warfare inside military psychology of itself, but also changes the definition of perception of terms and modus of war, so as the polity of the states, geopolitical situation and gobal economy.

Abstract:
We evaluated the need for low temperatures (vernalization) and the photoperiodic reaction of three collections of winter oats (1. Pedarn, Maris Quest, Peniarth; 2. Gerald, Solva, Kymon, Pendragon; 3. Pewi, Silwi, Wiskas) in a comparison with spring oats varieties. All three collections of varieties showed little need for low temperatures, mostly as few as 10–20 days, which does not represent an obligatory need; this influence is only quantitative and constitutes no precondition for a passage of plants into the generative stage. Only in the case of the Maris Quest variety, the need for vernalization approached 30 days. As compared with the reaction of winter barley varieties that had and in some cases still have worse overwintering in the Czech Republic, the length of vernalization is equal. In the photoperiodic experiment, the reaction to a short autumn day turned out to be the critical condition for a possibility of autumn sowing and overwintering; in the case of these varieties, a short day inhibits the development until arrival of winter. We evaluated this reaction according to the length of the induction period. This period was only 10–15 days in the case of the spring oats Český žlutý, 30 days in the case of winter oats Maris Quest, 25 days for Pedarn, 20 days for Peniarth and 21 days for Pendra-gon; the induction period was 14–21 days in the case of varieties Gerald, Kymon and Solva. When compared with figures for winter barley, it had the longer photoperiodic induction period. The evaluated varieties of winter oats do not reach such a degree of a reaction to a short day, which manifests itself in their lower frosthardiness than that of winter barley. We verified that in provoking tests for frosthardiness, and also by lower critical values of temperatures for dying out of 50% of plants, the so-called LT 50.

Abstract:
Neuroteology was created as an attempt to enter the mentalisation religious experiences through precise studies of cerebral base and modern methods of functional neuroimaging (MRI, PET, SPECT). The protagonists of neuroteology believe that mystical and religious states can be voluntarily or involuntarily caused by manipulation of the structures of the limbic system, including the hippocampus, hypothalamus, amygdala and right frontal and temporal lobe. Neuroteology studies are quite intriguing and act as an important link in determining the position of the spiritual in man. It inspires us to think intensively about the complexity of the relationship between religion and the brain. Neuroteology as a scientific discipline in perspective can significantly improve our knowledge about religion, spirituality and the brain.

Abstract:

This paper aims to discuss the installations made in the 1970s to the present day, which dialogue directly with the “natural” landscape, extending the significance of the artistic object to the reconfiguration of the space. In particular, works that have action in the biophysical space will be discussed, in which elements of the environment become devices of artistic manifestation. It will be seen that these performances transform the landscape and the notion of a work of art, creating tensions in what we understand as nature and culture.

Abstract:
Recent scientific and philosophical investigations have re-opened the question of the adequacy of a non-teleological view of nature. This essay examines the puzzling status of humanity itself within nature, the vexed question of whether the Darwinian principle of evolution through chance mutation, combined with natural selection, can account for what we know of biological life, and the extraordinary implausibility of any nonteleological explanation of the origins of life. The central issue is what can be accomplished by chance mutation and natural selection. The greatest mystery of all is the origin of life itself. The probabilities of life appearing by chance are so infinitesimal that some conclude that life could not have originated on earth. The biological world as we know it still appears to require prodigies of miracle.

Abstract:
The recent Delphinic policy analysis published in Nature, from the Ottawa group that gathered to define predatory journals and practices, has brought new focus to bear on this enduring problem. (https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-019-03759-y) In response, we convened a group (N=2) at the International House of Policy to consider how this set of definitions reflects our own experience. The resulting IHOP Statement is still being formally formulated, but preliminary findings are as follows. The undersigned claim particular knowledge of such journalistic practices because, epistemologically speaking, they are where we live.
