Abstract:
<p class="042abstractstekst"><span lang="EN-US">The effect of removing the spring flush and three irrigation doses on cactus pear’s reflowering and late ripening were studied. Removing the spring flush (scozzolatura practice) and irrigation have a significant effect (<em>p</em> ≤ 0,05) on the reflowering and late ripening of cactus pear. In not irrigated and not scozzolaturated plants (NINSP), the flowering extended from March 10 to May 25, 2017, and the ripening extended from May 20 to August 15, 2017. Whereas, in irrigated and scozzolaturated plants (ISP) the reflowering extended from June 15 to August 24, 2017, and the ripening extended from July 21 to November 20, 2017. The number of growths was higher in ISP (92-103 per plant) than in NINSP (81 per plant). Fruit yield was higher in NINSP (56.2 t ha-1) than in ISP (26.2-36.5 t ha-1), but fruit mass (123-131 g) and fruit length (7.83-7.92 cm) were higher in ISP than in NINSP (fruit mass: 103 g and fruit length: 7.72 cm). The rate of juice in fruits was also higher in ISP (49-55 %) than in NINSP (43 %), and the content of sugars was higher in NINSP (15.20 °Brix) than in ISP (13.83-14.56 °Brix).</span></p>

Abstract:
INTRODUCTION The UK Nosocomial Infection National Surveillance Service (NINSS) collects data on surgical wound infection in a variety of procedures, including arthroplasty, to allow comparison between institutions. PATIENTS AND METHODS We have compared the results of a 6-month data collection by NINSS within our department with our own grading system of wound complications in elective arthroplasty surgery. RESULTS In this period, NINSS has reported one wound infection in our patients. However, we have recorded five patients who were returned to theatre for wound debridement, and yielded positive cultures from multiple specimens. Seven patients received antibiotic therapy alone for wound problems. CONCLUSIONS We present our wound grading system as suitable for the collection of data on wound complications in elective orthopaedic surgery.

Abstract:
Neutrosophic logic is founded on non-standard evaluation. In neutrosophic set (NS), the computation of indefiniteness is explicit, while the membership of truth, falsity, and indeterminacy are non-reliable. Recently, various attractive game theory application is extended by entrenching the fuzzy set logic. The accounting data analysis has to contribute the innovativeness. This includes various characteristics. It applies billions of individuals in the business to develop and design novel products until the sale managing of the enormous sales staff. While cloud storage provides flexibility and scalability, it also comes with related costs, involving data transfer fees, subscription fees, and storage costs. Optimizing and managing cloud storage costs associated with business needs and budgetary constraints is crucial. Cloud-based AIS decreases the necessity for localized infrastructure and hardware, oscillating rate from capital to operational expenditure. This enables organizations to pay only for the used resource, resulting in economic efficiencies. Incorporating cloud technology into accounting information systems (AIS) provides several advantages. To increase the capability of accounting data statistics and analysis, this article introduces an N‐person intuitionistic neutrosophic soft game with Neutrosophic Cognitive Maps (NINSG-NCM) for cloud storage with AIS. The NINSG-NCM technique considered a contemporary accounting data analysis is built based on the block bit sequence evaluation technique and extracts the association rule representative amount of accounting data. Integrated with cloud computing (CC) framework, the NINSG-NCM method is proposed, and the NCM clustering technique is used for realizing the modern accounting data clustering, and the NINSG method could enhance the capability of statistical analysis and parallel computing of accounting data. Lastly, salp swarm algorithm (SSA) is applied for hyperparameter tuning method. The experimental outcomes illustrate that the designed intelligent data evaluation technique makes the parallel computing efficacy high and the statistical evaluation capability of accounting data better.

Abstract:
The rate of obesity in adolescents has increased due to social distancing measures and school closures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. These issues have caused adolescents to change their lifestyles and eating habits. Furthermore, the growth in inactive behavior and computer screen or watching TV time, as well as the reduction in physical activity, could similarly be related with obesity. To overcome this problem, we recently developed an artificial intelligence (AI)-based gesture recognition game application called Super Kids Adventure (SUKIA, Funrehab, Daejeon, Korea), which provides inexpensive and motivational game applications. This research is designed to assess the effects of SUKIA and Nintendo Switch (NINS) on calorie consumption, VO2 max, 6-minute walking test (6MWT) as well as body mass index (BMI), and the Borg rating of perceived exertion scale (RPE) in adolescents with obesity. A convenience sample of 24 adolescents with obesity were randomized into either the NINS or SUKIA groups 5 days/week for 3 weeks. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and independent t-tests were presented with significant level at p < 0.05, and the analysis indicated that SUKIA showed superior effects on calorie consumption, VO2 max, and RPE compared to NINS. Our results provide evidence that SUKIA can more effectively improve cardiopulmonary function and calorie consumption than NINS in adolescents with obesity during COVID-19.

Abstract:
Predicting groups of people who are jointly deceptive is critical in settings such as sales pitches and negotiations. Past work on deception in videos focuses on detecting single deceivers and uses facial or visual features only. We propose the concept of Face-to Face Interaction Networks (FFINs) and Negative Interaction Networks (NINs) to model interactions within a group of people. The use of FFINs and NINs in this paper enables us to leverage network relations in predicting face-to-face deception for the first time. We will use a dataset of 185 videos from a deception-based game called Resistance for deception based prediction using FFINs. We first characterize the behavior of individuals, pairs, and groups of deceptive participants compared to non-deceptive participants. Our analysis reveals that less engaged deceivers are identified early. Moreover, pairs of deceivers tend to avoid mutual interaction and focus their attention on non-deceivers. In contrast, non-deceivers interact with everyone equally. We propose the notion of Negative Interaction Networks (NINs) and create a belief propagation neural net algorithm called BPNN based on dynamic FFINs and NINs to detect deceivers from videos that are just 1 minute long. We show that our method outperforms recent state-of-the-art computer vision, graph embedding, and ensemble methods by at least 20.9% AUROC in identifying deception from videos.

Full text
Abstract:
AbstractThe main objective of this study was to estimate genetic correlations between fertility and production in first and second lactations as well as between fertility traits measured in the same way at different ages. The analyses were carried out for Swedish Red and White cows born from 1986 to 1996, in total about 578 000, 430 000, and 221 000 records in the heifer period, first lactation and second lactation, respectively. The fertility traits studied were: interval between calving and first insemination (CFI), interval between calving and last insemination (CLI), number of inseminations per service period (NINS) and number of treatments for reproductive disturbances (NREPT). Production was measured as the average of the energy-corrected milk yield from the second and third test-days in a lactation (ECM23). A linear, bivariate model that included effects of herd-year, month, age, and sire of the cow was applied. A relationship matrix containing sire and maternal grandsire of the sire was included. The (co)variance components for the random effects were estimated by use of a restricted maximum likelihood algorithm. The genetic correlations between fertility traits and production within first and second lactation were in the range of 0.1 to 0.3, all of them unfavourable. However, the genetic correlation between NREPT and ECM23 was close to zero within both lactations. The heritabilities, calculated without the herd-year variance included in the phenotypic variance, varied between 0.02 and 0.06 for the fertility traits with only minor differences between first and second lactation. The heritability of ECM23 was 0.35 in the first lactation and 0.28 in the second lactation. The genetic correlation between NINS during the heifer period and in first lactation was high, 0.7. The heritabilities for NINS and NREPT during the heifer period were very low, <0.01. In conclusion, there were only minor differences in inter-relationships between fertility and production in first and second lactation and the traits were negatively associated with each other. Based on the genetic correlation between NINS in the heifer period and NINS in first lactation, this study indicated that the traits at least partly are regulated by different sets of genes.

Whitworth, David Anthony. "Processing a Nickel Nanostrand and Nickel Coated Carbon Fiber Filled Conductive Polyethylene by Injection Molding." BYU ScholarsArchive, 2010. https://scholarsarchive.byu.edu/etd/2329.

Full text
Abstract:
A new method for pre-impregnating nickel coated carbon fiber with a thermoplastic polymer to make towpreg, similar to a recently developed coating-line by João P. Nunes et al and a new electrically conductive thermoplastic are developed. A melted bath was used to help mitigate health concerns and waste for dispersion of nickel coated carbon fibers (NCF) in low density polyethylene (LDPE). This towpreg was then mixed with more LDPE or a mixture of LDPE and nickel nanostrands (NiNS) to a desired filler volume fraction to test the electrical conductivity of the composite. Some of these mixtures were then injection molded and tested again for conductivity as well as tensile and impact strength and compared to each other and the non-injection molded samples. It was found that mixing NiNS into the polymer in addition to NCF created a more conductive part than with NCF alone, in a couple orders of magnitude. Also, the shorter the NCF were, the greater the contribution of the NiNS to the electrical properties of the NCF filled material. The tensile strength was increased by adding the NCF and NiNS, while the impact strength (toughness) decreased.

Whalen, Casey Allen. "Dispersion and Characterization of Nickel Nanostrands in Thermoset and Thermoplastic Polymers." Thesis, 2011. http://hdl.handle.net/1969.1/ETD-TAMU-2011-12-10686.

Abstract:
Nickel Nanostrands (NiNS) are nano-particles that are highly branched and have a high aspect ratio. These particles show promise as excellent additives to composites when electrical conductivity is desired. Unfortunately, there is very little research done on dispersing powdered NiNS in various polymer matrices. This thesis covers the research in dispersing NiNS in three separate polymer systems, and related composite processing and characterization. An aromatic polyimide (CP2) is first used as a thermoplastic matrix and attempts to incorporate NiNS via an in-situ processing technique concurrent with in-situ polymerization are detailed. Epoxy is then used as a representative thermoset where the NiNS are dispersed in the resin before a hardener is added. The last polymer tested is thermoplastic Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF). NiNS are introduced to this polymer in a solution mixture. Once dispersed, the PVDF solution is heated until the solvent evaporates leaving a PVDF melt containing NiNS, which is subsequently cooled. Samples of all three polymer nano-composites are created and dispersion is observed with an optical microscope. Using DSC, DMA and dielectric spectroscopy, thermal, mechanical and electrical properties are measured and analyzed. Results for the CP2 nano-composites showed that during the cure phase, the NiNS settled to the bottom of the films resulting in a non-dispersed composite. This result highlighted the difference between NiNS and other more conventional nano-particles, namely that the NiNS are larger and heavier, therefore are not 'locked into' a dispersed state by the polymer chains. Several techniques were investigated for dispersing NiNS in the epoxy matrix. A method without solvent was shown to be the most effective and resulted in a well-dispersed nano-composite that showed increases in electrical conductivity and dielectric constant as NiNS concentration increases. Enhancement in storage modulus was observed above the composite's Tg as well. PVDF nano-composites also showed good dispersion and a general increase in electrical properties. Below Tg, storage modulus decreases at first before a slight recovery with increasing NiNS. Beyond Tg, the opposite effect is observed. FTIR measurements for the PVDF were also taken and showed no significant changes in the polymer morphology with additions of NINS.
