Abstract:
Teknologi OMUX (Optical Multiplexer) merupakan salah satu solusi yang ditawarkan Telkom Bandung saat ini. OMUX adalah suatu teknologi akses yang dikategorikan sebagai Broadband Access yang ditransmisikan melalui media fiber optik. OMUX merupakan perangkat multiplexer penjembatan layanan data dan POTS melalui media serat optik yang dibuat dengan sangat fleksibel berbentuk modul. Dalam Penelitian ini dilakukan perencanaan teknologi OMUX untuk layanan data dan POTS di Politeknik TEDC Bandung dengan cara melakukan perbandingan teknologi OMUX dengan salah satu dari teknologi pengembangan dari PON yaitu GPON (Gigabit PON). Perbandingan ini dilakukan untuk mengkaji implementasi OMUX sebagai teknologi paling tepat dan efisien diterapkan di pelanggan coorporate Telkom Bandung. Pengambilan keputusan adalah berdasarkan hasil perbandingan pengukuran parameter, analisis kebutuhan, kelebihan dan kekurangan masing-masing teknologi. Adapun parameter teknis yang dibahas adalah Power Link Budget, Rise Time Budget, spesifikasi perangkat dan Redaman. Dari hasil pengukuran parameter teknis dan analisa dapat dilihat bahwa teknologi OMUX dan GPON memenuhi persyaratan layanan broadband serta memiliki kelebihan dan kekurangan masing-masing. Nilai margin daya dan rise time jaringan menggunakan OMUX lebih besar dibandingkan dengan menggunakan GPON. Sehingga teknologi yang dipilih adalah OMUX untuk kampus Politeknik TEDC Bandung yang terletak di wilayah suburban dan tidak banyak kemungkinan pengguna akses broadband. Keputusan ini juga diambil berdasarkan pertimbangan effort yang dibutuhkan dan waktu instalasi (Time to Delivery Market).

Abstract Natal dispersals are male-biased in most Old World monkey species, especially those that are polygynous. We examined patterns of male dispersal in golden snub-nosed monkeys, in which male offspring mainly disperse as juveniles from their natal one-male units (OMUs) to a bachelor group. However, out of a total of 112 male dispersals from 2001–2016, we documented six cases in which male offspring remained in their natal OMU until sub-adulthood. Based on monitoring of dispersal dynamics, we found that male offspring were more likely to delay dispersal if the tenure of leader males was lengthy. Social network analysis showed male offspring who delayed dispersal exhibited strong social relationships with each other and their OMU leader male but not with the females of their OMU. Our results suggest that the length of leader male tenure may affect natal male dispersal due to benefits to leader males accrued via intrasexual competition and kin selection.

ABSTRACT Yersinia pestis, the causative agent of plague, is one of the most virulent microorganisms known. The outer membrane protein X (OmpX) in Y. pestis KIM is required for efficient bacterial adherence to and internalization by cultured HEp-2 cells and confers resistance to human serum. Here, we tested the contribution of OmpX to disease progression in the fully virulent Y. pestis CO92 strain by engineering a deletion mutant and comparing its ability in mediating pneumonic plague to that of the wild type in two animal models. The deletion of OmpX delayed the time to death up to 48 h in a mouse model and completely attenuated virulence in a rat model of disease. All rats challenged with 1 × 108 CFU of the ompX mutant survived, compared to the 50% lethal dose (LD50) of 1.2 × 103 CFU for the wild-type strain. Because murine serum is not bactericidal for the ompX mutant, the mechanism underlying the delay in time to death in mice was attributed to loss of adhesion/internalization properties but not serum resistance. The rat model, which is most similar to humans, highlighted the critical role of serum resistance in disease. To resolve conflicting evidence for the role of Y. pestis lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and OmpX in serum resistance, ompX was cloned into Escherichia coli D21 and three isogenic derivatives engineered to have progressively truncated LPS core saccharides. OmpX-mediated serum resistance, adhesiveness, and invasiveness, although dependent on LPS core length, displayed these functions in E. coli, independently of other Yersinia proteins and/or LPS. Also, autoaggregation was required for efficient OmpX-mediated adhesiveness and internalization but not serum resistance.

Abstract:
Первым этапом взаимодействия бактерий с клетками эукариот является адгезия, которая происходит в результате сложного взаимодействия бактериальных и клеточных факторов. Синтезируемый бактериями поверхностный белок способен связываться с поверхностными рецепторами клеток эукариот, участвующими в межклеточных контактах или во взаимодействии клетки с внеклеточным матриксом. Белки внешней мембраны бактерий регулируют инвазию условно-патогенных бактерий напрямую или через регуляцию адгезии. Условно-патогенные бактерии Serratiaproteamaculans, способные проникать в клетки эукариот (Цаплина и др., 2009), содержат поверхностный белок OmpX. В настоящей работе мы показали, что трансформация бактерий Escherichia coli плазмидой, несущей ген OmpX S. proteamaculans, вызывает увеличение адгезии бактерий на поверхность клеток эукариот в 3 раза независимо от происхождения клеточной линии. Вероятно, белок OmpX S. proteamaculans взаимодействует с синтезируемым клеткой-хозяином белком внеклеточного матрикса фибронектином. Несмотря на увеличение адгезии, трансформация плазмидой, несущей ген OmpX, не придает бактериям E. coli способность проникать в клетки эукариот. Таким образом, мы предполагаем, что в бактериях S. proteamaculans OmpX может быть регулятором интенсивности адгезии, но не определять способность бактерий к инвазии.

ABSTRACT During the initial steps of biofilm formation, bacteria have to adapt to a major change in their environment. The adhesion-induced phenotypic changes in a type 1 fimbriated Escherichia coli strain included reductions in the levels of several outer membrane proteins, one of which was identified as OmpX. Here, the phenotypes of mutant strains that differ at the ompX locus were studied with regard to adhesion, cell surface properties, and resistance to stress and antimicrobial compounds. The kinetics of adhesion were measured online by an extended quartz crystal microbalance technique for wild-type and mutant strains with a fimbriated or nonfimbriated background. Deletion of ompX led to significantly increased cell-surface contact in fimbriated strains but to decreased cell-surface contact in a nonfimbriated strain. Phenotypic characterization of the ompX mutant demonstrated that ompX interferes with proper regulation of cell surface structures that play a key role in mediating firm contact of the cell with a surface (i.e., type 1 fimbriae, flagellae, and exopolysaccharides). These phenotypic changes were accompanied by increased tolerance to several antibiotic compounds and sodium dodecyl sulfate. Based on these results, we propose that changes in the composition of outer membrane proteins during fimbria-mediated adhesion may be part of a coordinated adaptive response to the attached mode of growth.

Background: The objective was to study the nature of relaxant effect of cold aqueous extracts of Carum copticum on rat alimentary tract and uterus.Methods: The aqueous cold extracts of Carum copticum (omum) whole seeds (OE1) or ground seeds (OE2) was prepared by leaving them (10g to 100mL) in distilled water for 4 hrs. Rat isolated tissues like stomach, duodenum, jejunum or uterus 4 cm pieces were mounted in a 20mL bath containing Tyrode solution or De Jalons at 37°C with continuous aeration. The effect of Carum copticum extracts and thymol on spontaneous activity of intestine and on acetylcholine (ACh), Histamine (H), Barium chloride (BaCl2) induced contractions or Adrenaline produced (Adr) relaxations were observed. Thymol content of omum was estimated by HPLC.Results: Omum extracts decreased or abolished spontaneous contractions of intestine but did not antagonize the contractions induced by ACh, H or relaxation induced by adrenaline. Thymol did not show any such effect. The stimulant action of BaCl2 was antagonized by aqueous cold extracts of omum similar to Papaverine.Conclusions: The relaxant effect of Carum copticum on rat intestine appears to be a direct effect on smooth muscle like papaverine.

Abstract:
The issue of legal regulation of fishing one of the brand species of Baikal Region’s bio-resources — Baikal omul — is especially urgent at present. The paper reflects administrative and criminal aspects of its protection as well as criminological specifics of illegal fishing of omul in light of the ban on fishing introduced in 2017; it highlights the environmental-legal and socio-economic aspects of this problem and presents a mathematical model of assessing the number of Baikal omul. The growth of criminal incidents in the sphere of using water resources of Baikal makes it impossible for scientists to objectively assess the number of omul in the lake using traditional bio-statistics methods. Besides, environmental law violations, and their regional specifics, make it necessary to continue developing complex systemic approaches to counteracting criminogenic processes. Prevention measures aimed at preserving Lake Baikal as a unique nature zone, together with various nature protection measures, should be implemented with the use of a whole complex of nature protection actions. The authors analyze the effectiveness of the existing legal mechanisms in the sphere of counteracting illegal fishing, as well as the necessity of establishing working mechanisms for the protection and reproduction of fish resources of Baikal, and present the description of initial parameters and equations to form a mathematical model of analyzing and predicting the dynamics of the number of omul in Lake Baikal. The authors also present a simplified version of such a model and use specific examples to illustrate the possibility of using it to assess the parameters and study the dynamics of the number of omul population during disturbing influences. They offer a brief description of the possibilities for the further development of this simplified model, which has at present been implemented. The scientific basis obtained, among other things, with the help of mathematical instruments should be viewed as the principles for forming an effective, clear, and needs-oriented normative legal basis of managing the bio-resources of Baikal with a growing anti-criminogenic potential.

Abstract:
The article presents the results of studies evaluating the influence of growth stimulants and micronutrient fertilizers on the productivity and sowing qualities of Crambe Abyssinica. Growth regulators Albit - 40 ml/t, Gumat K/Na - 0.15 l/t and microelement fertilizers EcoFus - 0.5 l/t and Omex - 2 l/t were studied. Studies have shown that the most effective options are with seed treatment with the growth regulator Albit and the combined use of Albit + Omex. Here the greatest positive effect was obtained on the indicator of field germination of krambe (89.6%) and on the safety of plants for harvesting (96.8%), respectively. It was revealed that the variant with the use of Albit, Gumat K/Na + Omex and Albit + Omex most effectively increased the seed yield of Crambe, the seed productivity here was 2.92; 2.93 and 2.96 t / ha, respectively. These options stimulated germination energy by 1.8-4.7% and laboratory germination by 3.8-9.1% relative to the control. The krambe oil content in the experimental variants was 36.14-39.76%, in the control - 36.04%. The highest oil content of seeds was noted on the variant with Albit - 39.76%. The use of Albit in combination with EcoFus and Omex contributes to the accumulation of oil in seeds up to 38.55 and 38.68%, respectively. The weight of 1000 seeds of Crambe varied in the range of 8.16-8.38 g in the variants with the use of drugs and 8.13 g in the variant without treatment. The germination energy and laboratory germination rate of Crambe Abyssinica varied between 52.7-79.8% and 69.5-86.5%, depending on the use of the preparations.

The article was written on the basis of the results of the research conducted by the staff scientists of Limnological Institute of Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Baikal State University. The aim was to define ecological and economic viability of planting of prospective autochthonous aquatic species including Baikal omul Coregonus migratorius in Maloye More fishing area. The process of fish planting is considered in the light of the need for satisfying the demand for omul both among the local population and tourists visiting Maloye More. The authors give a brief analysis of the demand for fish among the above mentioned categories. On the basis of calculations, a conclusion is drawn that it is impossible to satisfy the need for omul among the population of Maloye More and tourists visiting the area, whose number is growing fast, solely by means of natural propagation. Thus, the authors made an economic assessment of viability of measures aimed at stocking Maloye More fishing area with fish. These measures include acquisition of juvenile omul and its transportation from fish-breeding farms in Irkutsk Region and the Republic of Buryatia and also construction of a fish-breeding farm in Maloye More fishing area.

During the recent years several new tools have been introduced by the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in the field of Operational Modal Analysis (OMA) such as the transmissibility based approach and the the frequency-domain OMAX concept. One advantage of the transmissibility based approach is that the ambient forces may be coloured (non-white), if they are fully correlated. The main advantage of the OMAX concept is the fact that it combines the advantages of Operational and Experimental Modal Analysis: ambient (unknown) forces as well as artificial (known) forces are processed simultaneously resulting in improved modal parameters. In this paper, the transmissibility based output-only approach is combined with the input/output OMAX concept. This results in a new methodology in the field of operational modal analysis allowing the estimation of (scaled) modal parameters in the presence of arbitrary ambient (unknown) forces and artificial (known) forces.

Waste has a negative impact on the environment. Hospital medical waste is a hazardous waste for the environment. Environmental performance measurement systems are used to measure the performance of hospitals in handling waste. The measurement of its environmental performance in the hospital is expected to provide improved sewage treatment systems. AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) and OMAX (Objactive Matrix) methods are used to design environmental performance systems at hospitals. The data needed is medical and non medical treatment. Data were collected using pairwise comparison questionnaires. The questionnaire data shows the importance of key environmental performance indicators (KEPI). Results of questionnaires processed using Expert Choice. Expert Choice's output produces weight and consistency ratio. Weighted KEPI results are processed by OMAX method. The OMAX method is used to determine the value of environmental performance. There 41 KEPI aspects of the environment. Based on the results of the environmental performance assessment, liquid waste has the highest weight of 0.229.

The ompX and ompA deletion mutants showed significantly reduced invasion of human enterocyte-like epithelial Caco-2 and human intestinal epithelial INT-407 cells, and significantly fewer mutant cells were recovered from the livers and spleens of rat pups. Furthermore, compared with intact target cells, the invasion and initial association potentials of the mutants increased at a rate similar to that of the wild type in tight-junction-disrupted target cells, suggesting that OmpX and OmpA are involved in basolateral invasion by C. sakazakii. This is the first report of C. sakazakii virulence determinants that are essential for basolateral invasion and that may be critical for the virulence of C. sakazakii.

ABSTRACT Bacterial adaptation to external stresses and toxic compounds is a key step in the emergence of multidrug-resistant strains that are a serious threat to human health. Although some of the proteins and regulators involved in antibiotic resistance mechanisms have been described, no information is available to date concerning the early bacterial response to external stresses. Here we report that the expression of ompX, encoding an outer membrane protein, is increased during early exposure to drugs or environmental stresses. At the same time, the level of ompF porin expression is noticeably affected. Because of the role of these proteins in membrane permeability, these data suggest that OmpF and OmpX are involved in the control of the penetration of antibiotics such as β-lactams and fluoroquinolones through the enterobacterial outer membrane. Consequently, the early control of ompX and ompF induced by external stresses may represent a preliminary response to antibiotics, thus triggering the initial bacterial line of defense against antibiotherapy.

The aim of this work was to get deeper insight into genetic factors involved in the adaptive divergence of closely related species, specifically two representatives of Baikal coregonids—Baikal whitefish (Coregonus baicalensisDybowski) and Baikal omul (Coregonus migratoriusGeorgi)—that diverged from a common ancestor as recently as 10–20 thousand years ago. Using the Serial Analysis of Gene Expression method, we obtained libraries of short representative cDNA sequences (tags) from the brains of Baikal whitefish and omul. A comparative analysis of the libraries revealed quantitative differences among ~4% tags of the fishes under study. Based on the similarity of these tags with cDNA of known organisms, we identified candidate genes taking part in adaptive divergence. The most important candidate genes related to the adaptation of Baikal whitefish and Baikal omul, identified in this work, belong to the genes of cell metabolism, nervous and immune systems, protein synthesis, and regulatory genes as well as to DTSsa4 Tc1-like transposons which are widespread among fishes.

Adli Tıp uygulamalarında yaş tayini önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Ülkemizde, kişilerin nüfus kayıtları düzenli olarak tutulmadığından, bazı hukuki durumlarda şahısların gerçek yaşlarının tespiti gerekmektedir. Bu konuda en sık kullanılan yöntem, belirli yaş gruplarında belirli bölgelerin grafilerinin çekilerek epifiz plaklarının kapanma derecelerini saptamak ve şahsın yaşını belirlemektir. Bu amaçla, Greulich-Pyle ve Tanner-Whi-tehouse Atlasları kullanılmaktadır. Ülkemizde, uygulama kolaylığı bakımından en çok tercih edilen yöntem Greulich-Pyle yöntemidir. Son zamanlarda yapılan araştırmalarda, günümüz çocuklarının büyüme temposunun arttığı ve olgunlaşmanın daha erken olduğu bilinmektedir. Bizim çalışmamızda, halen kullanılan yöntemlerin uyumluluğunun test edilmesi amacıyla, değişik yaş gruplarından çekilen 570 adet grafi incelenmiştir. Buna göre, el bileği, omuz ve pelvis grafilerinde 16 yaştan itibaren kapanmaların başladığı; gerçek yaşı 17 olan olguların el bileği grafilerinin %100’ünde, omuz ve pelvis grafilerinin %81.8’inde epifizlerin tam olarak kapandığı görülmüştür. Sonuç olarak; halen uygulanmakta olan yöntemlerle, kronolojik yaş, kemik yaşının çok gerisinde kalmaktadır. Bunun için, nüfus kayıtları kesin olarak doğrulanan sağlıklı bireylerin grafileri üzerinde incelemeler yaparak toplumumuza özgü standart değerlerin oluşturulması gerekmektedir.Anahtar kelimeler: El bileği, epifiz, omuz, pelvis, yaş tayini.

The best corrective effect was established after applying a combination of oxymethyluracil with «Tonarol». Thus, according to the results obtained, the studied drugs combinations can be arranged in the following sequence in accordance with decreasing of hepatoprotective activity: OMU / «Tonarol» > OMU / Acetylcysteine> OMU / «Mexidol».

ABSTRACT LeuO is a LysR-type transcriptional regulator that has been implicated in the bacterial stringent response and in the virulence of Salmonella. A genomic analysis with Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi revealed that LeuO is a positive regulator of OmpS1, OmpS2, AssT, and STY3070. In contrast, LeuO down-regulated the expression of OmpX, Tpx, and STY1978. Transcriptional fusions supported the positive and negative LeuO regulation. Expression of ompS1, assT, and STY3070 was induced in an hns mutant, consistent with the notion that H-NS represses these genes; transcriptional activity was lower for tpx and STY1978 in an hns background, suggesting that this global regulatory protein has a positive effect. In contrast, ompS2 and ompX expression appeared to be H-NS independent. LeuO specifically bound to the 5′ intergenic regions of ompS2, assT, STY3070, ompX, and tpx, while it was not observed to bind to the promoter region of STY1978, suggesting that LeuO regulates in direct and indirect ways. In this work, a novel set of genes belonging to the LeuO regulon are described; interestingly, these genes are involved in a variety of biological processes, suggesting that LeuO is a global regulator in Salmonella.

ABSTRACT Gram-negative bacteria ubiquitously release membrane vesicles (MVs) into the extracellular milieu. Although MVs are the product of growing bacteria, not of cell lysis or death, the regulatory mechanisms underlying MV formation remained unknown. We have found that MV biogenesis is provoked by the induction of PagC, a Salmonella-specific protein whose expression is activated by conditions that mimic acidified macrophage phagosomes. PagC is a major constituent of Salmonella MVs, and increased expression accelerates vesiculation. Expression of PagC is regulated at the posttranscriptional and/or posttranslational level in a sigmaS (RpoS)-dependent manner. Serial quantitative analysis has demonstrated that MV formation can accelerate when the quantity of the MV constituents, OmpX and PagC, rises. Overproduction of PagC dramatically impacts the difference in the relative amount of vesiculation, but the corresponding overproduction of OmpX was less pronounced. Quantitative examination of the ratios of PagC and OmpX in the periplasm, outer membrane, and MVs demonstrates that PagC is preferentially enriched in MVs released from Salmonella cells. This suggests that specific protein sorting mechanisms operate when MVs are formed. The possible role(s) of PagC-MV in host cells is discussed.

Objective To assess the secondary outcome of overall mortality in the randomized Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian cancer screening trial. Methods In the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian trial, subjects were randomized to usual care or intervention. In the intervention arm, men and women received annual chest radiographs and two sigmoidoscopy exams. Men also received annual prostate-specific antigen tests and digital rectal exams, and women also received annual CA125 tests and trans-vaginal ultrasounds. Poisson regression and Cox proportional hazards models were used to assess differences across trial arms in overall mortality and overall mortality excluding deaths from trial cancers (OMEX). Due to slight age imbalances in later trial years, age-adjusted rate ratios and hazard ratios were computed. Results There were 76,678 men and 78,209 women randomized, with median follow-up of 17 years. In men there was a significant reduction in both overall mortality (age-adjusted rate ratio = 0.966; 95% CI: 0.943–0.989; p = 0.004) and OMEX (age-adjusted rate ratio = 0.970, 95% CI: 0.946–0.995; p = 0.02) in the intervention versus usual care arm. In women, no reduction was seen in either overall mortality (age-adjusted rate ratio = 1.002) or OMEX (age-adjusted rate ratio = 1.006). In both sexes combined, there was a significant reduction in overall mortality (age-adjusted rate ratio = 0.980; 95% CI: 0.963–0.999; p = 0.036) but not OMEX (age-adjusted rate ratio = 0.985; 95% CI: 0.965–1.004; p = 0.13). Results were similar using age-adjusted hazard ratios. Conclusion In the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian trial, there was a small but significant reduction in overall mortality in men, and in both sexes combined, and a small but significant reduction in overall mortality excluding trial cancer deaths in men.

PT MTG is a company engaged in the gears and mechanical part component. In the current condition, PT MTG has an effort to improve the company's work efficiency through with an efficiency target of 80%. However, the current problem is that the company does not yet have the right method for evaluating and detecting factors that inhibit increased productivity on the "TMM 1" and "TMM 2" production lines. To find out the right method for PT MTG, two productivity measurement methods are used in total with the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method and partially with the Objective Matrix (OMAX) method. In measuring productivity with the OEE method, it can be seen six big losses that occur in each machine on each production line. Whereas in the OMAX method, measurement of productivity is used 4 criteria to determine the company's productivity index, namely (1) Minimization of Defective Products; (2) Optimizing Production Capacity; (3) Efficient Use of Labor; (4) Minimize Absence of Work. Based on the results of data processing and analysis, the average overall OEE value for the "TMM 1" and "TMM 2" production lines is 0.32% and 0.321%. The OEE value still does not meet the JIPM standard of 85%. Whereas in the OMAX results, the average productivity index value of the two production lines is 140.80 per month from the optimal value of 1000. The factor influencing the two methods for not achieving the target is the amount of production per month that differs more than 55% of the production plan. Whereas in OEE, excess production is not considered a loss. So, for the current conditions the right method of measuring productivity for PT MTG is the OMAX Method.
