Abstract:
Calcitriol supplementation in ovariectomized rats decreased bone resorption and increased bone formation, however, it depend on dose. The objective of the research was to study the response of femur bone in osteoporosis rats consuming calcitriol. Thirty female Wistar rats at 8 weeks of age were randomly divided into six groups (sham operated rats as normal control rats/group N and NK, ovariectomized control rats/group Ov and OvK, ovariectomized rats/group OvDand OvE) of five each. All rats were fed standard diet for 8 weeks. At 16 weeks of age, group N and Ov were euthanized, the right femur were taken for histopathological examination. Group NK and OvK were fed a standard diet, group OvD was fed a standard diet +40ng calcitriol; and group OvE was fed a standard diet+25µg ethynil ethyl estradiol. Treatments were done for six weeks. At the end of study, blood samples were taken from plexus orbitalis medialis for estrogen analysis. All rats were euthanized using ketamine10% and xylazine 2%. Right femur was taken for histopathological examination using hematoxylin and eosin stain, and immunohistochemistry using monoclonal antibody anti TRAP5b which was detected with streptavidin-biotin. The results showed that estradiol level of the rats in group OvD was not significantly different compared with the rats in OvK group, however, it was significanly lower compared to the rats in group OvE. Histopathologic figure of right distal femur metaphysis in group OvD was shown lesser adipocyte in the bone marrow and more trabecular bone speculum compared to group OvK, however, there was more adipocyte in the bone marrow and lesser trabecular bone speculum compared to group OvE. Immunohistochemistry of distal femur metaphysis in group OvD and OvE were revealed tartrate resistant alkaline phosphatase 5b (TRAP5b) expression in trabecular bone, which was located in bone marrow space and trabecular speculum surface as well. Based on the results, it can be concluded that calcitriol 40ng/day supplementation in osteoporosis rats for 6 weeks decreased bone resorption and increased bone formation distal femur metaphysis.

Abstract:
Normal range of calcium (Ca) level in the blood is maintained by Ca homeostasis in the intestinal, kidney and bone. The objective of this research was to study the response of calcium homeostasis system ovariectomized rats consuming combination of calcitriol and raloxifene by calcium balance study. Twenty five female Wistar rats at 8 weeks of age were divided into five groups of five: normal control (NK), ovariectomy control (OVK), ovariectomy+calcitriol (OVD ), ovariectomy+ raloxifene (OVR), and ovariectomy+calcitriol+ 20raloxifene supplementation (OVDR), of five each. Seven weeks after the surgery, each rats was placed into individual metabolic cages for Ca balance studies (Ca consumption, feces and urine Ca excretion, and intestinalCa absorption). In 5 to 8 days of the balance studies, the remaining food, urine, and feces were collected every day for Ca analyses. The results showed that Ca consumption, feces and urine Ca excretion, and intestinal Ca absorption of OVDR rats were higher than OVK rats. Consumption and feces Ca excretion of OVDR rats were higher than OVK rats which informed the decrease of estrogen hormone. Intestinal Ca absorption of OVDR rats was higher than OVK rats which informed the decrease of parathyroid hormone. Meanwhile, urine Ca excretionof OVDR rats was higher than OVK rats which informed the decrease of parathyroid hormone and estrogen. In conclusions, the response of calcium homeostasis system in ovariectomized rats consuming combination ofcalcitriol and raloxifene for 8 weeks was marked by increasing Ca absorption in intestine and Ca excretion in urine.

Abstract:
Sebuah studi bertujuan untuk mengkaji pendapatan dan profitabilitas usaha ternak ayam broiler pola kemitraan dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pendapatan usaha ternak ayam broiler pola kemitraan di Kecamatan Ungaran Timur Kabupaten Semarang. Metode pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode wawancara dan observasi (pengamatan). Jenis data dikumpulkan adalah data primer dan data sekunder. Data primer diperoleh melalui pengamatan langsung dan hasil wawancara dengan menggunakan kuesioner mengenai aspek teknis dan keuangan. Data primer berupa data “Time Series” selama bulan Januari-Desember 2014. Variabel yang diperhitungan antara lain biaya produksi, penerimaan, pendapatan, profitabilitas, R/C rasio, Uji asumsi klasik meliputi uji normalitas, multikolinearitas, heterokedastisitas, uji auto korelasi dan regresi linier berganda.Berdasarkan hasil penelitian pendapatan bersih usaha peternakan ayam broiler di Kecamatan Ungaran Timur pada tahun 2014 mencapai Rp 83.459.039. Nilai profitabilitas dan R/C rasio yang dicapai pada tahun 2014 sebesar 8,16% dan 1,08%. Analisis regresi linear berganda diperoleh persamaan Y=1737522,714+1,371X1–0,245X2– 1,513X3–0,362X4+46,985X5. Nilai koefisien determinasi (R2) sebesar 0,873, berarti bahwa semua variabel bebas meliputi pembelian DOC, pembelian pakan, OVK, tenaga kerja dan biaya listrik mempengaruhi variabel pendapatan sebesar 87,3%, sedangkan sisanya sebesar 12,7% dipengaruhi oleh variabel di luar atau yang tidak diteliti dari variabel yang diteliti. Berdasarkan uji F, variabel independen seperti pembelian DOC, pembelian pakan, OVK, tenaga kerja dan biaya listrik secara bersama-sama berpengaruh terhadap variabel pendapatan. Analisis Uji t menunjukkan bahwa pendapatan peternak ayam pedaging di Kecamatan Ungaran Timur hanya dipengaruhi oleh biaya pembelian bibit atau DOC. Akan tetapi pembeliaan pakan, OVK, upah tenaga kerja dan biaya listrik tidak berpengaruh terhadap total pendapatan peternak ayam pedaging di Kecamatan Ungaran Timur.

Abstract:
Bassia indica (Wight) A.J. Scott, family Amaranthaceae, is a halophyte herb growing in extreme environments and hence deemed as a potential economic source of bioactive chemicals with functional properties. In our study, 25 compounds were obtained from B. indica. We aimed to assess the inhibitory effect of the methanol extract of B. indica and its isolated compounds on COX-2 and cytotoxicity activity against MCF-7, OVK-18, HepG2, and HCT116 tumor cells. Among the isolates, the triterpene oleanane saponin (23) displayed promising anti-inflammatory activity with an IC50 = 3.05 ± 0.15 μg/mL. Additionally, N- trans-feruloyl tyramine (11) exhibited significant cytotoxicity to OVK-18 with IC50 = 1.74 ± 1.56 μg/mL, whereas 6,7-dihydroxy coumarin (7) exhibited potent inhibition against the MCF-7 cell line with IC50 = 1.47 ± 0.22 μg/mL. Interestingly, compounds 1 and 25 exhibited remarkable cytotoxicity against HepG2 and HCT116 cells with IC50 < 0.1 μg/mL, while compounds 2, 4, 5, 6, and 9 exerted potent cytotoxicity against HepG2. Finally, B. indica is a potential source of candidate compounds for the development of anti-inflammatory and antitumor therapies.

Zusammenfassung Hintergrund Immer mehr Menschen entscheiden sich für eine vegane Ernährung ohne tierische Lebensmittel, darunter auch Familien mit Kindern. Material und Methodik Die bekannten lebensmittelbezogenen Empfehlungen für die Ernährung von Säuglingen (der Ernährungsplan für das 1. Lebensjahr) und Kindern und Jugendlichen (die Optimierte Mischkost, OMK) werden an die Anforderungen einer veganen Ernährung angepasst. Ergebnisse Der im Ernährungsplan vorgesehene Gemüse-Kartoffel-Fleisch-Brei kann durch einen Gemüse-Kartoffel-Getreide-Brei ersetzt werden. Der Milch-Getreide-Brei kann mit einer kommerziellen Sojanahrung zubereitet werden, die auch für nicht gestillte Säuglinge, die keine Kuhmilch bekommen sollen, als Flaschennahrung geeignet ist. Für Kinder und Jugendliche wurden nach derselben Vorgehensweise wie für die OMK eine Optimierte Vegane Kost (OVK) berechnet, mit der die aktuellen Referenzwerte für die Energie- und Nährstoffzufuhr erreicht werden. Eine Supplementierung mit Vitamin B12 ist für alle vegan ernährten Säuglinge, Kinder und Jugendliche obligatorisch. Schlussfolgerung Im Artikel wird aufgezeigt, wie der Bedarf an potenziell kritischen Nährstoffen auch im Wachstumsalter durch pflanzliche Lebensmittel, ergänzt durch die gezielte Auswahl angereicherter Lebensmittel und Supplemente, gedeckt werden kann.

AbstractEffectiveness research on depression prevention usually compares pre- to post-intervention outcomes across groups, but this aggregation across individuals may mask heterogeneity in symptom change trajectories. Hence, this study aimed to identify subgroups of adolescents with unique trajectories of change in a school-based depression prevention trial. It was also examined how trajectory membership was associated with the intervention conditions, depressive symptoms at 12-month follow-up, and baseline predictors. Hundred-ninety adolescent girls (Mage = 13.34; range = 11–16 years) with subclinical depression at screening (M = 57 days before pre-test) were allocated to four conditions: a face-to-face, group-based program (OVK), a computerized, individual program (SPARX), OVK and SPARX combined, and a monitoring control condition. Growth Mixture Modeling was used to identify the distinct trajectories during the intervention period using weekly depressive symptom assessments from pre-test to post-test. Analyses revealed three trajectories of change in the full sample: Moderate-Declining (62.1% of the sample), High-Persistent (31.1%), and Deteriorating-Declining (6.8%) trajectories. Trajectories were unrelated to the intervention conditions and the High-Persistent trajectory had worse outcomes at follow-up. Several baseline factors (depression severity, age, acceptance, rumination, catastrophizing, and self-efficacy) enabled discrimination between trajectories. It is concluded that information about likely trajectory membership may enable (school) clinicians to predict an individual’s intervention response and timely adjust and tailor intervention strategies as needed.

Abstract:
This study aims to determine: 1) laying hens at the Berkah Telur Makmur Association. 2) the factors that affect the production of laying hens in the Berkah Telur Makmur Association. 3) efficient use of production factors in laying hens at the Berkah Telur Makmur Association. This research uses descriptive basic method. The research location is the Berkah Telur Makmur Association of Purworejo. Determination of the research location is done by purposive sampling method. The sample in this study were 50 farmers. Sampling was done by using saturated sampling technique. Data analysis uses factors of production, feasibility and allocative efficiency. The results of data analysis show that the value of the R/C ratio is Rp. 1.35 indicates that laying hens at the Berkah Telur Makmur Association is feasible. The value of capital productivity is 35.49% higher than the prevailing interest rate, so it is feasible to operate. The average income of respondent farmer's labor productivity is Rp. 2,183,415.91/HKO is greater than the applicable labor costs so it is feasible to work. The results of data analysis showed that laying hens at the Berkah Telur Makmur Association was feasible. The factors of layers, the amount of feed, OVK, and labor had a significant effect on egg production of laying hens in the Berkah Telur Makmur Association, while the cage area factor had no significant effect. While the variable amount of feed is efficient, the variable number of layers and labor is not efficient. Variables of cage area and number of OVK are not efficient. Abstract:
The aim was to identify hypothalamic genes associated with transition from acyclic to cyclic ovarian function in postpartum cows. Ovarian status was recorded at slaughter for primiparous Brahman cows (Zebu, Bos indicus) at 27–34 days postpartum and hypothalamic tissue was obtained at the same time. Ovaries were classified as: Ov1 (n = 4), follicles 4–5 mm; Ov2 (n = 4), follicles equal or larger 10 mm without ovulation; Ov3 (n = 4), corpus haemorrhagicum or corpus luteum. Hypothalamic regions were: H1 (SC-POA, APVN, anterior hypothalamic nucleus, anterior portion of the arcuate nucleus, nearby areas of the diagonal band of Broca, and medial septum); H2 (basal hypothalamus-median eminence, ventromedial hypothalamus, posterior portion of the arcuate nucleus, and anterior part of the mammillary body). Gene expression was determined using the Agilent bovine 44k DNA microarray and differential expression (DE) was ascertained by mixed model analysis. Functional clustering of DE genes using DAVID (www.david.abcc.ncifcrf.gov) revealed an enrichment of genes linked with synaptic transmission in H1 and H3 comparing Ov1 and Ov3. Three members of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II gene family (BOLA-DQA1, BOLA-DQA2 and BOLA-DQB) showed a higher expression level in Ov2 than Ov1 in H1 and H2. BOLA-DGA2 and BOLA-DQB were downregulated in Ov3 when comparing Ov2 and Ov3. MHC family members have been associated with plasticity in the brain1. Functional clusters of genes involved in cell-cell adhesion were differentially expressed when comparing Ov1 and Ov2 (H2), and Neutropilin-2 which promotes GnRH neuronal migration2 was upregulated in Ov1. The findings provide preliminary evidence that gene expression related to cellular plasticity within the basal hypothalamus-median eminence is associated with the transition from acyclic to cyclic ovarian function in the postpartum cow. Abstract:
Pojmovi gnosticizam i pelagijanizam poznati su teolozima, povjesničarima, religiolozima, filozofima i drugim istraživačima humanističkoga područja. Kao pojedinačne pojmove možemo ih od vremena do vremena čuti i u kolokvijalnom govoru, posebice izvedenicu agnosticizam ili agnostik. Do pobudnica pape Franje ova dva pojma bila su vezana uz crkvene hereze s početaka života Crkve. Članak, u povijesni kontekst ove hereze smješta Papin govor o gnosticizmu i pelagijanizmu kojeg započinje svojom pobudnicom Evangelii gaudium, a proširuje ga u pobudnici Gaudete et exsultate. Nakon kratkog prikaza klasične uporabe ovih pojmova i problematike koja se uz njih veže, kao i Papine interpretacije ovih pojmova, članak odgovara na pitanje jesu li ovi pojmovi uistinu »zapreka« na putu svetosti ili izvor konfuzije.

Abstract:
The purpose of OVK is to show that the indoor environment is good, and that the ventilation system fulfills its function. A good indoor environment is a necessity and an important prerequisite for ensuring the well-being and health of the individual who spends more and more of his time indoors. Previous studies and surveys have shown that there are problems in how OVK works and is complied with today. This study therefore examines whether the mandatory ventilation control works in its current form and how it can be improved to ensure the contribution of ventilation to a good indoor environment. In the study, a qualitative method was used which meant that interviews with people involved in OVK were conducted to get a real perspective on how the control is perceived and complied with. Based on this, together with what other studies have concluded, the study has established that OVK does not function as it is currently intended. The main reason for the problems with OVK today is the lack of knowledge of various stakeholders about both the control and the indoor environment in general. Increased knowledge is central for the control to be taken more seriously. In addition, controls need to be modernized and possibly digitized to promote better compliance.<br>Syftet med OVK är att visa att inomhusmiljön är bra och att ventilationssystemet fullgör sin funktion. En god inomhusmiljö är en grundläggande nödvändighet samt en viktig förutsättning för att säkra individens välmående och hälsa som spenderar alltmer av sin tid inomhus. Tidigare studier och undersökningar har visat att det finns problematik i hur OVK fungerar och efterlevs idag. Denna studie undersöker därför om den obligatoriska ventilationskontrollen fungerar i dess nuvarande form samt hur den kan förbättras för att säkerställa ventilationens bidrag till en god inomhusmiljö. I studien har en kvalitativ metod använts som inneburit att intervjuer med personer som är involverade i OVK har genomförts för att få ett verkligt perspektiv på hur kontrollen uppfattas och efterlevs. Utifrån detta, tillsammans med vad andra studier har kommit fram till, har studien konstaterat att OVK inte fungerar i dagsläget som det är tänkt. Den främsta anledningen till problematiken med OVK idag är olika intressenters okunskap kring både kontrollen och inomhusmiljön i stort. En ökad kunskap är central för att kontrollen skall tas på större allvar. Dessutom behöver kontrollen moderniseras och eventuellt digitaliseras för att främja en bättre efterlevnad.

I denna vetenskapliga uppsats kommer boken En man som heter Ove och filmen En man som heter Ove jämföras med varandra, med fokus på Oves tillbakablickar. Detta görs genom att analysera bokens och filmens tillbakablickar som förklarar Oves förflutna. Filmens tillbakablickar visas via flashbacks. Syftet med denna uppsats är att se hur stor påverkan skillnaden mellan bokens tillbakablickar och filmens användande av flashbacks har på karaktären Ove. Oves resa placeras i Craig Battys modell av protagonistens resa, både i bok och film. De båda resorna jämförs med fokus på Oves bakgrundsberättelse och hur det påverkar Oves karaktär i nutid. Vidare analyseras filmens val av flashbacks med hjälp av Linda Aronsons teori om flashbacks användning och funktion. Analysens resultat visar att Oves bakgrund har stor betydelse för hur Ove agerar i nutid vilket leder till att Ove upplevs olika i de olika medierna.

Abstract:
O ovo é importante como alimento e como matéria-prima industrial. Tem alto conteúdo de colesterol, o qual, por sua vez, está sujeito à oxidação. Os óxidos formados interferem na morfologia e função da membrana celular, inibem a biossíntese do colesterol, e são aterogênicos, citotóxicos, mutagênicos e cancerígenos. O processamento e o armazenamento levam à oxidação do colesterol. O presente trabalho teve como objetivos (a) a caracterização e avaliação do ovo líquido integral (OLI) em relação ao armazenamento da matéria-prima; (b) a avaliação do ovo líquido integral (OLI), do ovo líquido integral pasteurizado (OLIP), do ovo integral em pó atomizado (OIPA) e do ovo integral em pó atomizado armazenado, em relação à estabilidade oxidativa do colesterol; e (c) a avaliação do efeito da adição de antioxidantes naturais durante o processamento do ovo integral em pó atomizado, em relação à estabilidade oxidativa do colesterol. O OLI produzido a partir de matéria-prima armazenada por 30 dias, a 4ºC, não foi afetado quanto à estabilidade oxidativa do colesterol. A pasteurização e a atomização, realizadas em condições de laboratório, não levaram ao comprometimento oxidativo do colesterol. Foi constatada oxidação significativa do colesterol no OIPA, obtido em condições de laboratório, quando armazenado por 90 dias, a 25ºC, na ausência de luz. Os antioxidantes naturais comerciais GUARDIAN® Rosemary Extract (RE) e o GUARDIANTM TOCO 70 (TOCO 70) não foram efetivos na prevenção da oxidação induzida do colesterol, quando adicionados (antes ou depois da atomização) ao ovo integral em pó atomizado obtido em condições de laboratório, armazenado por 21 dias, a 25°C, na ausência de luz.<br>Egg is important as food and as industrial raw material. It has high cholesterol, which, in turn, is subject to oxidation. Cholesterol oxides interfere with morphology and function of cell membrane, inhibit cholesterol biosynthesis, and are atherogenic, cytotoxic, mutagenic and carcinogenic. Processing and storage lead to oxidation of cholesterol. Present study aimed (a) characterization and evaluation of liquid whole egg (OLI) in relation to storage of raw material; (b) evaluation of liquid whole egg (OLI), liquid pasteurized whole egg (OLIP), atomized powder whole egg (OIPA) and stored atomized powder whole egg, relative to cholesterol oxidative stability, and (c) evaluation of natural antioxidants addition\'s effect in processing of atomized powder whole egg, relative to cholesterol oxidative stability. OLI produced from raw materials stored for 30 days, at 4°C, was not affected on cholesterol oxidative stability. Pasteurization and atomization, performed under laboratory conditions, did not lead to significant cholesterol oxidation. It has been found significant cholesterol oxidation in OIPA, obtained under laboratory conditions, when stored for 90 days at 25°C in absence of light. Commercial natural antioxidants GUARDIAN® Rosemary Extract (RE) and GUARDIANTMTOCO 70 (TOCO 70) were not effective in prevention of cholesterol induced oxidation when added (before or after spraying) to atomized powder whole egg obtained under laboratory conditions, stored for 21 days at 25°C in absence of light.

Na operação de secagem a atomização foi feita com bocal de pressão e o ar de secagem foi aquecido diretamente pela combustão de gás liquefeito de petróleo. A pressão de atomização das amostras variou de 12 a 13kg/cm² e a temperatura do ar de secagem foi de aproximadamente 200°C. Na secagem de ovo integral líquido foi obtida a relação de 404,5kg/h de ar de secagem para 13,01kg/h de água evaporada. A eficiência térmica calculada foi de 45,20% e as perdas de calor calculadas foram de 17,421. O controle de qualidade das amostras desidratadas de albume, gema e ovo integral, foi feito através de ensaios microbiológicos e da dosagem de proteína solúvel, durante seis meses de armazenamento das amostras na temperatura de 20°C. Os resultados dos ensaios microbiológicos indicaram que não houve crescimento de microrganismos durante o armazenamento das amostras. Os resultados da dosagem de proteína solúvel mostraram que a insolubilização proteica das amostras aumentou com o tempo de armazenamento. Esses resultados ajustaram-se ao modelo cinético de Michaelis-Menten, sendo obtidos os valores de velocidade máxima de insolubilização proteica de 3,26% de insolubilização por mês (PIM) para a gema, 5,26 PIM para o albume e 12,50 PIM para o ovo integral, respectivamente. Os valores da constante de Michaelis-Menten foram 1,71, 4,47 e 9,00 para o albume, gema e ovo integral, respectivamente. Foi também estudada a redução da glicose livre em amostras de ovo integral líquido, pelo método de fermentação, em ensaios de laboratório. Nesses ensaios foi utilizado inoculo de levedura fresca de panificação, nas concentrações de 0,25 a 0,50% em peso no mosto, que foi mantido nas temperaturas de 22, 26, 30 e 32°C. O melhor resultado foi obtido com os ensaios nos quais a concentração de inoculo no mosto foi de 0,50% e a temperatura de fermentação foi mantida em 32°C. Com 120 minutos de fermentação foi conseguida a redução de 88,32% da glicose inicialmente presente nas amostras. Durante a fermentação foi observado o decréscimo do pH do mosto, paralelamente à redução de glicose<br>Abstract: Drying of albumen, yolk and whole egg was studied, using a spray-dryer. Pressure nozzle was employed for atomization and drying air was directly heated by combustion of liquefied petroleum gas. The atomization pressure of the liquid samples varied between 12 and 13kg/cm² and drying air temperature was about 200°C. A ratio of 404,5kg/h of drying air to 13,01kg/h of evaporated water was obtained for the drying of liquid whole egg. Calculated thermal efficiency and heat loss were 45,20% and 17,42%, respectively. Quality control for albumen, yolk and whole egg dehydrated samples were done by microbiological and soluble protein essays, during six months storage at 20°C. Microbiological results did not show growing of microorganisms during storage. Soluble protein results were indicative that samples protein insolubilization increased during storage time. These results fitted to Michaelis-Menten kinectic model. Maximum velocity values were 3,26% insolubilization by month (PIM) for yolk, 5,26 PIM for albumen and 12,50 PIM for whole egg. Michaelis-Menten constant values were 1,71, 4,37 and 9,00 for the albumen, yolk and whole egg, respectively. Glucose reduction of the liquid whole egg were carried out by fermentation process, in laboratory essays. Brewer's yeast was added to egg melange until concentration of 0,25 and 0,50% by weight, and it was maintained at 22, 26, 30 and 32°C. Better results was obtained with the melange brewer's yeast concentration of 0,50% and 32°C of fermentation temperature. El Síndrome del Intestino Irritable (IBS) se define como una alteración de la función gastrointestinal caracterizada por dismotilidad e hipersensibilidad visceral. En la mayoría de pacientes con este síndrome el número de mastocitos de mucosa intestinal (IMMC) y su actividad están aumentados. Este hecho podría jugar un papel central en las alteraciones funcionales, sensitivas y motoras del IBS ya que la activación de esta población celular provocaría la liberación de mediadores que podrían afectar a la excitabilidad de las neuronas entéricas y a la de las aferentes primarias, así como a la contractilidad del músculo liso intestinal. No obstante, este síndrome presenta un diagnóstico difícil y un tratamiento poco efectivo ya que los factores que lo causan aún no están claros. Recientemente los procesos alérgicos no diagnosticados hacia componentes de la dieta se han propuesto como posible factor desencadenante del IBS. Se requiere sin embargo disponer de modelos in vivo para estudiar los mecanismos implicados e identificar nuevas dianas terapéuticas. El modelo experimental inducido en rata Sprague Dawley (SD) a la que se expone a ovo-albúmina (OVA) por vía oral reproduce algunos de los hallazgos observados en pacientes con IBS: un aumento de la actividad mastocitaria y una alteración en la motilidad.<br/>El objetivo de esta tesis doctoral ha sido contribuir a caracterizar el modelo de exposición oral a OVA en rata SD; determinar el tipo de respuesta inmune inducida por el antígeno, evaluar la actividad mastocitaria y su implicación en la dismotilidad inducida por OVA y valorar la participacion del factor de crecimiento nervioso (NGF) en el proceso.<br/>La exposición oral a OVA, a diferencia de otras proteínas como la gelatina, produjo un aumento en la actividad mastocitaria en el intestino delgado y el colon, como reflejan el aumento del número de IMMC y el incremento de la concentración intestinal de RMCPII. Sin embargo, parámetros como la concentración de IgE o IgG específicas anti-OVA, IL4 o la presencia de eosinófilos y celulas IgE+ en tejido intestinal no se vieron afectados por la exposición a OVA. Estos resultados, junto con el aumento de liberación de histamina tras la estimulación directa de mastocitos con OVA in Vitro, sugirieron que el efecto de esta proteína podría deberse a una interacción directa, no mediada por anticuerpos, entre OVA y el mastocito. La exposición oral a OVA también produjo un incremento en parámetros relacionados con la respuesta motora principalmente en colon, así como en la expresión de NGF en tejido intestinal. Finalmente, el tratamiento con ketotifeno disminuyó significativamente el aumento inducido por OVA sobre la actividad mastocitaria y la respuesta motora y la expresión de NGF. Además se observó una correlación entre el efecto de OVA sobre la actividad mastocitaria y la respuesta motora especialmente en colon, que contribuye a proponer la hipótesis de que los mastocitos están implicados en la alteración de la motilidad intestinal.<br/>La exposición de ratas SD a OVA por vía oral induce una alteración de la motilidad intestinal que no es mediada por una reacción de naturaleza alérgica. A la disfunción motora provocada por la OVA contribuyen sin embargo los mastocitos, probablemente mediante la interacción directa entre esta población celular y la proteína que puede generar, entre otros mediadores, la liberación de NGF. Este mecanismo no alérgico que implica a los mastocitos puede ser relevante en ciertos tipos de pacientes con IBS, cuyo abordaje terapéutico quizás requiera de un replanteamiento. Este trabajo ha apuntado el camino para una caracterización más profunda del modelo con el objetivo de identificar nuevas dianas terapéuticas.<br>Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is an alteration of the gastrointestinal function characterised by dismotility and visceral hypersensitivity. In most patients with this syndrome the number of intestinal mucosal mast cells (IMMC) and its activity are increased. This could play a central role in any physiological, sensory and motor IBS because activation of this cell population would result in the release of mediators that could affect the excitability of enteric neurons and primary afferents, as well as the intestinal smooth muscle contractility. However, this syndrome presents a difficult diagnosis and ineffective treatment because the factors that cause it are still unclear. Recently undiagnosed allergic processes to dietary components have been proposed as a possible trigger of IBS. However is required to have in vivo models to study the mechanisms involved and identify new therapeutic targets. The rat experimental model induced in Sprague Dawley (SD) which is exposed to ovo-albumin (OVA) orally play some of the findings in patients with IBS: increased mast cell activity and altered motility. <br/>The aim of this PhD was to characterize the model of oral exposure to OVA in SD rat; determine the type of immune response induced, the mast cell activity and assess their involvement in the OVA-induced dysmotility and evaluate the participation of Nerve growth factor (NGF) in the process. <br/>Oral exposure to OVA, unlike other proteins such as gelatin, induced an increase in mast cell activity in the small intestine and colon, as reflected in the increased number of IMMC and intestinal RMCPII concentration. However, parameters such as concentration of specific IgE or IgG anti-OVA, IL4 or the presence of eosinophils and IgE + cells in intestinal tissue were not affected by exposure to OVA. These findings, coupled with increased histamine release after direct stimulation of mast cells with OVA in vitro, suggested that the effect of this protein could be due to direct interaction between OVA and the mast cell. Oral exposure to OVA also produced an increase in parameters related to motor response mainly in the colon, as well as in the expression of NGF in intestinal tissue. Finally, treatment with ketotifen significantly reduced the OVA-induced increase of mast cell activity and motor response and the expression of NGF. We observed a correlation between the effect of OVA on mast cell activity and motor response especially in the colon, which contributes to hypothesize that mast cells are involved in altering intestinal motility.<br/>Oral exposure to OVA in SD rats induces a disturbance in motor response that is not mediated by an allergic reaction. However, mast cells have a key role in the disturbance of intestinal motility, probably through direct interaction between this cell population and the protein, which can generate, among other mediators, the release of NGF. This nonallergic mechanism involving mast cells may be relevant in certain types of patients with IBS, whose therapeutic approach may require a restatement. This work has pointed the way for a deeper characterization of the model with the aim of identifying new therapeutic targets.

AbstractThis chapter presents the Open Data Kit (ODK) project’s design, challenges, development, and evolution of configurable software frameworks and their international development impacts. The ODK project created a suite of mobile data collection tools designed to help organizations working in resource-constrained contexts collect, aggregate, and analyze data. ODK mobile tools are designed to maintain their functionality in locations with limited, intermittent, or no Internet connectivity. While the first set of ODK tools has experienced wide adoption with millions of users collecting data, its primary use case of unidirectional data flowing from the field to a central repository could not be adapted to certain use cases. To broaden the scope of potential applications, a second generation of tools was developed that added support for bidirectional data management applications. This chapter discusses the iterative research and development process of the ODK project.

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui besarnya pendapatan, Efisiensi usaha dan faktor pendapatan (Pakan, Tenaga Kerja, OVK, Skala Usaha, dan Pengalaman Beternak) terhadap pendapatan peternakan itik petelur sistem pemeliharaan intensif di Desa Kejapanan Kecamatan Gempol Kabupaten Pasuruan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah metode survey dengan wawancara langsung kepada 30 peternak. Teknik analisis data yaitu dengan menghitung biaya, penerimaan, pendapatan dan efisiensi. Pendapatan tertinggi diperoleh oleh peternak yang mempunyai skala usaha 1000 ekor sebesar Rp. 7.581.866 sedangkan pendapatan terendah diperoleh oleh peternak yang mempunyai skala usaha 100 ekor sebesar Rp. 267.459 yang diperoleh dalam satu bulan. R/C ratio terendah 1,06 dengan skala usaha 150 ekor dan tertinggi 1,39 dengan skala usaha 550 ekor. ROI terendah 5,8 % dengan skala usaha 150 ekor dan tertinggi 39 % dengan skala usaha 550 ekor.

Osnovna funkcija univerziteta, pored obrazovanja, je naučnoistraživački rad. Na bosanskohercegovačkim univerzitetima je naučnoistraživački rad zapostavljen. Dva su osnovna razloga za to. Prvi je nedovoljno finansijsko ulaganje u nauku i istraživanja, a drugi je nedovoljno razvijena svijest o značaju naučnoistraživačkog rada, kako u bosanskohercegovačkom društvu, tako i na samim univerzitetima. U ovom radu je ukazano na to šta je potrebno uraditi da se ova druga teškoća prevaziđe. Pored toga, analizirane su mogućnosti unapređenja nauke i oblikovanja sistema nauke na bosanskohercegovačkim univerzitetima, kako bi oni postali i istraživački univerziteti. Na naučnoistraživački rad se nadovezuju istraživačko-razvojni rad, tehnološki razvoj, saradnja s privredom i razvoj naučno-tehnoloških parkova. Ove djelatnosti su još manje zastupljene na bosanskohercegovačkim univerzitetima nego naučnoistraživački rad. U ovom radu je ukazano na načine kako prevazići te teškoće, kako bi istraživački univerziteti postali nosioci tehnološkog razvoja Bosne i Hercegovine.

Abstract:
Invasive exotic plant (IEP) species are a significant threat to natural ecosystem integrity and biodiversity. Controlling them is a high priority for the National Park Service. The Northern Colorado Plateau Network (NCPN) selected the early detection of IEPs as one of 11 moni-toring protocols to be implemented as part of its long-term monitoring program. From June 5 to July 29, 2020, and May 30 to June 2, 2021, network staff conducted surveys for priority IEP species along the Oak Creek, Pleasant Creek, and State Route 24 monitoring routes at Capitol Reef National Park. We detected 834 patches of 11 priority IEP species along 67.9 kilometers (42.2 miles) of three monitoring routes. There were more patches of tamarisk along State Route 24, and a higher percentage of large patches, than in previous years. This indicates that previously identified IEP patches have expanded and grown. Field bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis) and Russian olive (Elaeagnus angustifolia) along State Route 24 have both increased in prevalence since monitoring began. Tamarisk (Tamarix sp.) was the most prevalent prior-ity IEP species on all three routes. On Oak and Pleasant creeks, there were fewer than three patches of all other IEPs. On State Route 24, there were 30 or more patches of Russian olive, quackgrass (Elymus repens), field bindweed, and blue mustard (Chorispora tenella). IEP prior-ity species were found on 71%, 47%, and 62% of transects along Oak Creek, Pleasant Creek, and State Route 24, respectively. Yellow sweet-clover (Melilotus officinalis) was the most fre-quently observed IEP on Oak Creek and Pleasant Creek. Percent cover was highest for yellow sweet-clover, Russian thistle (Salsola sp.), and tamarisk on Oak Creek, Pleasant Creek, and State Route 24, respectively. The NCPN plans to return to Capitol Reef in 2023 to continue the fourth rotation of invasive plant monitoring.

This report presents the findings of the first phase of an evaluation of IDB Lab, which until 2018 was known as the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF). The mandate for this independent evaluation stems from the second capital replenishment of the MIF (MIF III), which was approved by MIF Donors in April 2017 and became effective in March 2019. The Agreement Establishing the MIF III lays out the expected functions of the Fund and establishes that, any time after the first anniversary of the MIF III, IDB's Office of Evaluation and Oversight (OVE) is to conduct an independent evaluation to: i. Review MIF results in light of the purpose and functions of the MIF III Agreement; ii. Assess MIF operations for relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, innovation, sustainability, and additionality; iii. Determine to what extent progress has been made on implementing the approved recommendations of OVE's 2013 evaluation of the MIF. Donors requested that OVE deliver an evaluation of IDB Lab in 2021 to inform discussions about the Lab's future and funding model. As a result, OVE included this evaluation in its 2020/2021 work program and developed an Approach Paper (Annex V) issued in October 2020. OVE is conducting the evaluation in two overlapping phases. The first phase, conducted from April 2020 to May 2021, evaluated the relevance of IDB Lab's mandate, strategic focus, and corporate setup. Its findings are presented in this report. A second phase of the evaluation, currently ongoing, evaluates IDB Lab operations. This is OVE's third independent corporate evaluation of the MIF requested by Donors.

Abstract:
This report summarizes the results of the Office of Evaluation and Oversight's (OVE) annual validation of the self-assessments of project performance and results completed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and IDB Invest in 2019-2020. The IDB and IDB Invest have systems in place to measure the development effectiveness of their operations. These systems use a number of instruments to assess projects at the design, implementation, and completion phases. The design-phase assessment uses a “Development Effectiveness Matrix” (DEM) for sovereign guaranteed (SG) operations. The effectiveness of non-sovereign guaranteed (NSG) operations is measured with a “Development Effectiveness Learning, Tracking, and Assessment tool” (DELTA). Implementation-phase assessments measure SG operations with “Project Monitoring Reports,” while NSG operations are assessed with “Project Supervision Reports.” Upon completion, SG projects are self-evaluated with “Project Completion Reports,” or PCRs. NSG operations, use “Expanded Supervision Reports,” or XSRs when they reach early operation maturity (EOM). OVE validates Managements self-evaluations (PCRs and XSRs) and assigns a final project performance rating to each operation. As part of the 2020 validation cycle, OVE reviewed PCRs for 63 operations, 62 with operational closure (CO fully justified) in 2018 and one in 2013. XSRs were reviewed for 36 IDB Invest operations that had reached early operating maturity (EOM) in 2018.
