Abstract:
Teachers’ teaching practices shape and are shaped by the arrangements in their site of practice. Such arrangements, consisting of the (cultural-discursive) “sayings”, (material-economic) “doings”, and (social-political) “relatings” of the actors involved in and the environment of the practice site, can be defined as “Practice Architectures” (Kemmis, 2019). The practice site that this study focuses on is the teaching practicum activity within a three-month in-service teacher professional education program held jointly by the Indonesian Government and a Higher Education Institution (HEI) (Program Profesi Guru Dalam Jabatan/PPG). Using the framework of Practice Architectures, the study aims to identify the arrangements that occurred and/or were provided by the program in enabling or constraining the program’s standard teaching practicum practices. Through thematic analyses of the teachers’ narratives of their teaching practicum experiences, the results show that these arrangements shaped teachers’ practices in teaching practicum, particularly in the design of the PPG program and the requirements of the assessments. The findings call for the government and HEIs to these arrangements in designing teacher professional development programs, such as the PPG program, to improve future teaching practicum experiences in the program that enable standardised and better teaching practices.

Abstract:
The present study evaluates the English language practicum program at the College of Basic Education in the State of Kuwait from the viewpoints of female student teachers. The study attempts to identify such strengths and weaknesses of the practicum experience in pre-service teachers’ motivation to continue their future in the teaching profession. Quantitative research methodologies were used by adopting Peacock’s (2009) model for practicum program evaluation. The current TEFL practicum program results have confirmed many strengths but also highlighted certain significant shortcomings from the student-teachers’ perspective due to the gap between the theoretical and practical aspects, as well as the absence of adequate supervision, which affected the trainees’ need for pedagogical competence in term of class and time management skills. The study proposes many recommendations and suggestions that the practicum program should be structured to improve the student teachers’ needs and the educational context and fulfil the practical, beneficial content for the individuals.

Abstract:
Experiential learning is a core competency of curricula across accredited U.S. schools of public health, helping students to hone diverse skill sets that will enable them to readily join the workforce and contribute to solving complex public health problems. At the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy (SPH), all master’s and doctoral students are required to complete a practicum during their degree programs; yet practicum development and selection processes are often overlooked. To enhance the experiential learning program and Human Research Protection Program processes surrounding student practica at the CUNY SPH, researchers mined an administrative database and analyzed characteristics of practicum projects undertaken by graduate students. Findings from this novel study will facilitate policy and procedural changes within the SPH Office of Experiential Learning, which oversees the practicum program, and across SPH offices, including the Human Research Protection Program, to promote an optimal, student-centered practicum experience. Additionally, these analyses will serve as a model for other schools of public health seeking to develop, refine, and strengthen their practicum programs.

Abstract:
An internship or Student Practicum is a program offered in universities that gives students an opportunity to experience the professional environment of their chosen fields. The researchers identified the demographic profile, benefits, and satisfactory levels of alumni in De La Salle University-Dasmariñas under the Tourism Management Department who underwent their practicum abroad. To fill in the gaps, this research study investigated the program's areas for improvement and the issues the respondents ran into throughout their practicum. This will provide the DLSU-D institution with a framework for how to manage students who will participate in practicum programs. The research design used in this study is a descriptive survey because this research design combines quantitative and qualitative data. Descriptive statistics such as means and standard deviation were used to determine the satisfaction level in the Practicum Program. The survey conducted by the researchers found that the practicum program has advantages for employability, knowledge, and skill development, the respondents were generally happy with the practicum program's learning outcomes and working conditions, and the respondents said there were several issues with the practicum program. The perceived problems were not significant enough to negatively impact their overall experience with the program.

Abstract:
Research has shown that the practicum experience for professional preparation students in physical education teacher education programs related to teaching youth with disabilities can improve self-efficacy. It is not currently known if a virtual program can be effective for the professional preparation students or the participants. The objective of this study was to determine the experiences of the participants of a three-month virtual practicum program. In this phenomenological study, thirty youth with visual impairments and 1:1 professional preparation students (coaches) took part in a three-month virtual physical activity program. A total of 11 coaches took part in 2 focus groups, and 10 of the participants were interviewed about their experiences in this unique practicum. Findings in this three-month program revealed four themes: (1) friendship, (2) self-determination, (3) goal setting, and (4) barriers. The results of the qualitative inquiry indicate that a virtual practicum program can have a positive effect on both the participants and the professional preparation students. Virtual programs should also be aware of barriers to implementing an effective program to benefit all parties.

Abstract:
Teaching practicum is very essential in the process of learning how to teach, so it should be paid great attention by not only teacher education program designers but also implementators. The paper reports a study on the efficiency of teaching practicum which has been conducted at Public University (pseudonym) in Vietnam. The research employed qualitative approach, and semi-structured interviews were used as the instrument for the data collection. Findings reveal that the implementation of the teaching practicum did not provide student teachers with sufficient chances to develop their teaching skill efficiently. Inappropriate method of implementing the teaching practicum, loose cooperation between the university and high schools, and insufficient support are major issues that caused the teaching practicum to be ineffective. Peer mentoring and a more suitable method of implementing the internship are recommended solutions to improve the effectiveness of the teaching practicum in the English Teacher Education Program at Public University in particular and other English teacher education programs in Vietnam in general. Keywords: Educational program, peer mentoring, teacher education, teaching practicum, teaching skills, VietnamCite as: Vo, T.K.A., Pang, V., & Kean Wah, L. Abstract:
Undergraduate students in professional education programs typically rate their clinical or practicum experiences as teh most important component of their entire pre-service preparation. This essay addresses the value of students’ views regarding the effectiveness of practicum programs. We summarize the views of 546 post-practicum students from three professional disciplines (engineering, nursing, and teacher education), concerning what they considered to be the most positive and negative aspectsof their respective practicum/clinical field-experiences.Our data analysis revealed three positive themes across the disciplines: the supportive interrelationships that students experienced; their own professional achievements; and their personal contribution to the welfare of their clients/pupils. Three negative elements also emerged: individual personal/professional challenges; site-based interpersonal conflicts; and policy or procedural problems with the program. Implications are raised for practicum administrators regarding the contribution of the student voice to clinical program enhancement.

Abstract:
The school field practicum program is crucial for enhancing the teaching competencies of pre-service teachers. This study aimed to develop a suitable scale to evaluate how field practicum programs are operated in secondary schools and what outcomes pre-service teachers can achieve. To achieve this, the study reviewed previous research on secondary school field practicums and examined the field practicum programs in secondary school settings. Through expert consultations, 14 items for evaluating the operation process of secondary school field practicums and 9 items for evaluating outcomes were developed. Subsequently, the results from 130 student teachers from the College of Education at G-University, who responded to the school field practicum evaluation scale, were analyzed. To improve model stability and reduce measurement variables, an item parceling technique was applied to the evaluation scale. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses validated its factor structure, and reliability analyses assessed its internal consistency. The evaluation scale developed in this study can be used as a diagnostic tool for assessing the operational status and outcomes of secondary school field practicums and is expected to contribute to the development of the secondary teacher training system.

Abstract:
The increasing importance of cross-cultural competence in education has made international teaching practicum (ITP) programs essential for pre-service teachers. These programs provide unique opportunities to enhance pedagogical skills and develop global awareness, particularly for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers in diverse cultural contexts. However, the specific experiences of Indonesian pre-service teachers participating in ITP programs remain underexplored. This study aims to explore the experiences of Indonesian pre-service English teachers during an ITP program in Malaysia, focusing on the journey, personal growth, and professional development achieved throughout the program. Using a qualitative narrative inquiry approach, this exploratory case study examined the experiences of one Pre-service teacher from the English Education Department, referred to as "Budi," in a Malaysian pesantren. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, reflective journals, and program documentation, then analyzed thematically using Braun & Clarke (2006) framework. The findings reveal that the participant gained essential teaching skills, leadership qualities, and cross-cultural understanding while facing challenges such as time management, cultural adaptation, and limited teaching opportunities. These experiences contributed significantly to the participant’s personal and professional growth, highlighting the transformative impact of ITP programs. The study underscores the importance of ITP programs in preparing globally competent educators. By documenting the lived experiences of a pre-service teacher, the research provides valuable insights for program designers and policymakers seeking to enhance the effectiveness of international teaching initiatives.

Abstract:
Becoming a teacher of English language requires both knowledge of theory and practice. Teacher candidates at the faculties of education in BA programs in Turkey practice teaching through observing real classrooms and doing micro-teachings in real schools during their four-year teacher training. This study was conducted at a foundation university in Turkey, in which senior pre-service teachers, before they enter the teaching profession and become novice teachers, go and experience teaching to fulfill the requirements of the practicum (school experience course) in their last semester. This course requires them to observe three different levels of classroom in real schools, write reflective papers, prepare lesson plans and practice teaching. The transition from pre-service to novice teacher can be facilitated via successful practicum programs offered by the faculties of education in Turkey. The impact of practicum tends to result in either entry into teaching or teacher retention. The purpose of this qualitative study is to explore the effects of this program on students’ decisions on entry into the profession. The data were collected in two stages: Before and after the practicum. At the beginning of the last semester, before they go practicum, five pre-service EFL teachers were asked the reasons for choosing teacher education programs, and their concerns related to practicum and the profession through an in-depth semi-controlled interview. Those pre-service teachers were also interviewed on the same topics at the end of the semester, after practicum. Results indicated that practicum or school experience has contributed positively to their perceptions regarding their entry into teaching because almost all of them wanted to enter teaching at the end of the program, and they are in-service teachers now. These findings suggest that teacher education courses should aim to develop students’ practical knowledge, and the relationship among the mentor teacher, the supervisor, and the student teacher should be valued and supported more in teacher education programs.

The purpose of the design and application of the ATMEGA8535 microcontroller system simulation circuit is minimize the damage of the practicum module, helping students improve their understanding of practicum goals through maximum frequency of practices. Every year damage the practicum module avr8535 increased. Based on the analysis, the damage of this module is mostly caused by the damage of the main component, namely the IC ATMEGA8535. This happen because a maximum of program downloading to the IC ATMEGA8535 is 1000 times and this ability can even be less if the operation procedure of the module is incorrect. This simulation software utilizes the facilities contained in the proteus software. The steps to make this simulation circuit are doing the needs analysis, designed the basic circuit, ouput circuit, input circuit, and ADC circuit. The test results show all units of the circuit can run according to the practicum module. This simulation circuit has been implemented in microcontroller practicum activities and interfacing as companion software. There was a decrease in module damage of 57.60% after the implementation of simulation circuit. With this simulation software programs that have been created can be loaded first into a simulations circuit, so they can extend the life time of the practicum module and can help lecturers in developing lecture material and maximize the understanding of learning for students through practical activities.

Abstract:
Community-based learning (CBL), which provides opportunities for undergraduate students to develop disciplinary and work-related knowledge and skills, is increasingly becoming an integral component of higher education. Similar to other countries, there is a widespread belief among employers in Kenya that there is a mismatch between university programs and labour market demands. In order to enhance the employability of graduates, many departments at a Kenyan university have incorporated work-integrated experiential learning opportunities such as practicums in the educational experience for undergraduate students. The aim of this article is to describe the expectations of field supervisors in host organisations participitating in a community-based human services program at a Kenyan University. Fifteen purposively sampled field supervisors participated in individual face-to-face interviews that included questions about their understanding of the department’s expectations of student learning activities during practicums, knowledge of the academic preparation of students in the program and challenges associated with the supervisory role. Six field supervisors exhibited some level of understanding of the expectations of their role in working with practicum students, while nine field supervisors indicated unclear expectations of the students’ practicum experience. Thematic analysis revealed key themes related to: (1) student abilities, learning goals and their contributions to the host organisations, and (2) the academic program of study and academic support available from the university faculty or staff to field supervisors. The results of our study revealed a lack of clarity around practicum expectations for most of the field supervisors interviewed and insufficient preparation of the community-based organisations to host a practicum student. Several recommendations are identified to clarify the expectations of community partner organisations and the staff providing student supervision to ensure benefits for both students and the host organisation. Results from this study can be used to inform the development or improvement of practicum opportunities focused on producing a skilled workforce.

Abstract:
This study investigates the role of supervisory support for assisting the EFL student teachers to perform better during practicum. It also aims at identifying the barriers of effective supervision during teaching practicum. The study adopts the qualitative research design using a multiple case study. Semi-structured interviews are developed to collect data from four student teachers and their supervisors during their teaching practices at local secondary schools in Yemen. Four emerging themes are developed from the thematic analysis of the data including the supervisory support on lesson planning, teaching strategies, classroom management and the number of observations. The findings reveal that the participating student teachers received insufficient support and guidance from their panel supervisors which limit their pedagogical practices during practicum. The findings also highlight some barriers to effective supervision due to some restrictions. The study provides practical implications for EFL teacher education program administrators and developers to reconsider the supervision plan so as to contribute towards professional teaching practices at schools during practicum in Yemen.

Abstract:
Inverter material is one of the essential materials in power electronics courses. An inverter is an electronic device that converts direct current (DC) into alternating current (AC). This concept is the foundation of electronics. Because the power electronics course is a practicum course, a practicum module is required as an intermediary teaching medium; this practical module discusses 3-phase inverter material, which uses the pulse width modulation (PWM) and sinusoidal pulse width modulation inverter (SPWM) switching methods. Through Tinkercad software, the circuit is assembled, and the output wave results from the two methods used are seen in designing the 3-phase inverter practical module using the Research and Development method. This research uses media and material validation sheet instruments to determine the feasibility of the 3-phase inverter practicum module. The research results showed that the percentage of media experts was 94%, material experts were 81%, and language experts were 84%. Hence, the 3-phase inverter practicum module is very suitable for use and can make it easier for students to understand inverters. Thus, developing a 3-phase inverter practicum module can effectively increase students' understanding of inverter material and interest in learning. It can also be an alternative for lecturers in teaching.

Abstract:
This research is important to carry out the learning achievements (CPL) of the mandatory physics education study program in developing 21st century skills, especially science process skills (KPS). Apart from that, the practicum function which is still valid today in the FKIP UMMAT physics education study program has not been able to train KPS students well because the design of practicum activities has not been based on science processes and problem based learning (PBL), causing KPS students to not be able to improve. This research will produce an innovative practicum learning method to improve KPS in a concrete and structured manner. The aim of this research is to design a practical program for the Vibration concept which is outlined in the form of a practical activity sheet (LKPR) and a KPS assessment instrument with the target of improving the science process skills (KPS) of physics education students. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) through the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) process which begins with analyzing problems, needs and solutions; designing LKPR and assessment instruments, then validating and testing on a small scale and evaluating the product for further revision and implementation. The KPS pretest and posttest quantitative data were analyzed using inferential statistics and the normalized gain test to determine the KPS improvement category. Data analysis using the help of Ms. software. Excel and IBM SPSS v.23. It was concluded that the practicum design had the characteristics of applying a problem-based model, oriented towards laboratory investigation activities, using traditional musical instruments and computer-smartphone technology devices through three phases and six stages. The practicum program has had a significant impact in increasing student KPS which shows a significant increase in all aspects of KPS. Students give positive responses to the practicum program because it can practice science process skills.

Teacher education programs in Canada—by the nature of their geographic locations and composition of their faculty and students—remain largely urban centric in their values and programs. Yet, teacher education programs are responsible for preparing teachers for rural, remote, and northern teaching experiences. In this study, I explore the experiences of teacher candidates who participated in a northern practicum option developed at a Western Canadian teacher education program. The purpose of this research is to examine teacher candidates’ experiences of the northern practicum option in order to inform our northern practicum option, as well as to contribute to the development of other northern practicum offerings in Canadian teacher education programs. Drawing on place-conscious theorizing, I explore the ways in which the northern practicum experiences have the potential to disrupt settler-colonial narratives, to develop understandings of place-based curriculum and pedagogies, and to support democratic and ethical approaches to education. This study investigates the mentorship of pairing first year and final year teacher education students during their school placements or practicum. Participating students were studied using an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach and undertaking Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) to interpret their experience and their stress levels in the peer mentorship program. This peer mentoring program offered benefits for the first year education students by reducing their stress levels significantly and providing reassurance about their performance during school practicum. It also prepared the final year students for taking on teacher mentor roles. While the student mentorship program cannot replace the support provided by schools and universities, it does offer first year students reassurance as to their practical teaching abilities and performance. In addition, this study provides several perspectives on student mentorship during teaching practicum that are worthy of further research.

Abstract:
Virtual laboratories can provide real learning experiences through computer-aided simulations and activities. Virtual laboratory is rapidly developing its use in science learning because it is proven to provide significant benefits to the process and results of science learning during the pandemic. The limitations of laboratory facilities in genetics learning at the unkhair Biology Education Study program have encouraged the development of virtual practicum strategies and their use in genetic learning with modified free inquiry strategies on the topic of the structure and function of genetic material and reproduction of genetic material. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of virtual laboratories based on student perceptions of the use of virtual laboratory applications and to describe and compare these perceptions with the use of laboratory reality and relevant previous research results. There are five aspects of perception surveyed, namely innovation, motivation, effectiveness, benefits, and presentation of practical procedures. This research method uses a quasi-experimental research design for the characteristics and effectiveness of using virtual laboratories and real laboratories in the Genetics course at the Biology Education Study Program, Khairun University, Ternate on the topic of DNA isolation, chromosomes and mitosis. The results of this study indicate that: the characteristics of Blended Learning practicum in the Genetics course in 4th semester students of Biology study program are: 1) instruction-based practicum; 2) practicum based on data collection and reporting of practicum results; 3) practicum based on proof of concept. The effectiveness of the implementation of genetics practicum in laboratory reality and virtual laboratories based on the perception of student responses is more likely to choose reality laboratories than virtual laboratories. The effectiveness of the implementation of genetic practicum based on the results of the practicum report is known to be not significantly different between the results of the practicum in reality and in the virtual laboratory.

Increase in short-term programs is one of the biggest shifts in study abroad over the past twenty years. With prior research in this area showing many positive but also mixed impacts, skepticism persists about the ability of short-term study abroad to change students’ views on cultural differences. The aim of this study is to characterize if and how students’ views on cultural differences in the context of international client work change after a practicum-based faculty-led short-term study abroad program in Argentina. Twenty-four students who participated in the program responded to short-answer questions before and after the program. These responses were open-coded, and themes were identified. Results show that, before the program, students largely identified surface-level cultural differences from an ethnocentric perspective. After the program, students were more ethnorelative as evidenced by their discussing the deeper cultural context and values of Argentina and their willingness to adapt.

Our community service activity was holding a workshop on making practicum kits based on the Arduino Uno microcontroller for teachers at SMK Negeri 9 Muaro Jambi. The program was carried out through three stages, firstly, observation and survey, next was planning and preparation, and the last one was training. The themes of the chosen practicum kits were the LED turning-on program, distance measuring program, fire detection program, and temperature and humidity measurement. Each of the kits was equipped with the sets needed for practicum, such as Arduino Uno, jumper cables, LEDs, breadboard/protoboard, resistors, USB cables, sensors, etc. The practicum guide book contained the objectives of the practicum, tools and materials used, programming language commands to be uploaded, as well as work steps and evaluations. Workshop was carried out by a lecture about arduino uno microcontroller and demonstration of how to operate practicum kits. During the demonstration activity, the teachers were enthusiastically discussed and asked questions about Arduino Uno microcontroller as a practicum kit.

Abstract:
Abstract How do supervisors determine the level of clinical independence of graduate student clinicians before clinic practicum begins and how do supervisors determine the style of supervision used with each student clinician? A qualitative research methodology was used to investigate supervisory practices of clinical educators supervising graduate student clinicians in speech-language pathology graduate training programs. Data was gathered through standardized open-ended interviews with 11 supervisors from five graduate training programs accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). All 11 supervisors conducted a pre-practicum assessment, but none used a published program or model to assess the student clinicians. All participants met with the student clinicians prior to the start of therapy to discuss the client. Analysis of data revealed three distinct types of meetings: presentation of the client by the clinician, presentation of the clinician to the supervisor, and pre-practicum assessment using a form. Eight of the 11 supervisors interviewed for this study determined the level of clinical independence of the student clinician solely by asking the clinician to present the client to the supervisor. The supervisors then evaluated the manner, organization, accuracy, and completeness of the presentation to estimate the student's level of clinical independence.

Abstract:
The COVID-19 pandemic forced lectures to be shifted to online-based learning, including the implementation of practical activities. The purpose of this research is to examine the perception between students who take online practicum with face-to-face practicum. The research was conducted at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang, involving students of the Biology Education Study Program who had participated in environmental biology practicum. Data was collected using an open survey, using the google form. The survey results show that students feel that online practicum activities are not able to optimally facilitate the empowerment of their competencies.
