Abstract:
The article is devoted to the theoretical analysis of the scientific views of domestic and foreign scientists on the crises of human development as a person and a subject of activity. The essential signs of a crisis of professional development are indicated - a difficult, difficult situation; a process consisting of external and internal contradictions that a person overcomes thanks to the socio-cultural environment and formed personal qualities. The factors of influence on the crisis of professional development, types and stages of crises of professional development, strategies of human behavior to overcome contradictions, as well as ways to overcome the crisis are highlighted. Special attention in scientific research is paid to crises that disorganize individual human behavior: at the beginning of the formation of an individual as a professional, in connection with entering a new work collective or its disintegration, at the stage of completing a professional career. The periods of development crises are characterized. The stages of the professional development crisis are revealed. Comparisons of scientific judgments about the crisis of professional development of domestic and foreign scientists-psychologists and ways of overcoming the development crisis are given. The conclusion is formulated that, in addition to the negative consequences of the crisis of professional development, there is also a positive result in the form of further development of the personality as a professional.

Abstract:
Introduction A crisis can be described as subjective experience that threatens and overwhelms a person’s ability to handle a specific situation. In dealing with crises some people are looking for support from professionals. The “professional relationship” between people experiencing a crisis and professionals plays an important role in the successful management of a crisis which has been widely researched in many contexts. However, regarding outpatient services (e. g. crisis resolution home treatment teams), yet empirical evidence remains limited. Objective We aim to explore descriptions of supportive professional relationships during outpatient crisis interventions in empirical literature. Accordingly, a scoping review was conducted to identify types of evidence, map the key concepts, and point out research gaps. Methods MEDLINE, PsycINFO, CINAHL and Social Science Citation Index were searched for studies reporting empirical data on the professional relationship between people experiencing a crisis (18+) and professionals (e. g. social workers, psychiatrists) during a crisis intervention, defined as a short-term, face-to-face, low threshold, time-limited, outpatient, and voluntary intervention to cope with crises. Studies were excluded if they were published before 2007, in languages other than English and German, and if they couldn’t be accessed. Included studies were summarized, compared, and synthesized using qualitative content analyses. Results 3.741 records were identified, of which 8 met the eligibility criteria. Only one study directly focused on the relationship; the others addressed varied aspects. Two studies explored the perspectives of service users, five focused on those of the professionals and one study examined both. The empirical literature was categorized into three main themes: strategies used to develop a supportive professional relationship, factors influencing the relationship and the nature of these relationships. Discussion The results reveal a gap in understanding the nature of supportive professional relationships from the service users’ perspective, as well as how professionals construct these relationships.

Abstract:
The article deals with the results of the analysis of the person’s professional mobility as a comprehensive tool for overcoming the professional crises. It also determines the existence of many unascertained psychological problems in its structure. One of these problems is the problem of overcoming maladaptive forms of a person’s psychological defence based on his professional mobility in stressful conditions of the professional development crises. Stressful uncertainty in the professional crisis and the high ambivalent tension, which the person is experiencing, characterize the specialist’s maladaptive development according to the “catastrophic” scenario. In the conditions of the professional development crisis a specialist cannot leave it adaptively and flexibly due to a limited number of rigidly patterned professional barriers and behaviour models. Such maladaptive patterned movement of a specialist towards the disintegrational destruction of the whole system of his professional development can be overcome constructively on the basis of his professional mobility model, selection and realization of the further professional movement vector. We consider the interactive strategy of a specialist’s behaviour for constructive overcoming professional crises in the system of his professional development, based on the development of the ability of directed transitions to new professional movement trajectories in the points of the system bifurcation, as the professional mobility.

The health crisis caused by COVID-19 impacted the dynamics of the work of health professionals, specifically in nursing professionals who were aware of the essential need for care and a safe environment to reduce in-hospital risks and mortality indicators. The study aimed to analyze the scientific evidence on the lessons learned during the health crisis in the work of the nursing professional, and the analysis of scientific articles published between 2020 and 2023 in the Scopus databases, obtaining a total of 30 articles. The findings show that there is a need to adopt health contingency policies to respond to health crises, as well as to establish and apply coping strategies in health professionals to avoid the impact on their mental health. Additionally, it is important to recognize their role in society. In conclusion, contingency policies and coping strategies must be developed to ensure the safety and well-being of nursing professionals and prevent the impact on their mental health during health crises like the one caused by COVID-19. Furthermore, it is important to recognize and value the fundamental role of nursing professionals in disease prevention and care in society and continue to work on developing policies and support strategies for health professionals to ensure their safety and well-being during health crises.

Abstract:
In a global crisis, it becomes more difficult to cope with personality crises. Women are increasingly faced with stress in the workplace, the work is becoming more difficult, the likelihood of wrong decisions is growing, conflict situations are provoked and, as a result, this affects the results of the organization as a whole, so there is a need to more actively study the issue of professional self-realization of women in the period mid life. The purpose of this study was to identify the psychological characteristics of professional self-realization in women who have experienced a mid-life crisis. The study involved 52 women. The age of the respondents is from 35 to 45 years, which corresponds to the period of middle life. The sample was divided into two subgroups of 26 women who experienced a professional crisis and 26 women who experienced other crises. Most women have an average work experience of 10 years, almost half of the respondents combine work with childcare. To study the psychological characteristics of professional self-realization in women who experienced a mid-life crisis, the following methods were used: the Methodology “Development Crises” by Petryavskaya L.G.; the Test of meaningful life orientations (MLO) by James Crumbo and Leonard Maholik, adapted by Leontiev D.A.; S elf-actualization test (SAT), a variant of the Russian-language adaptation of Shostrom's self-actualization test (adapted by Aleshina Yu.E., Gozman L.Ya., Zagika M.V. and Kroz M.V.); a Short form of Jones and Crandall's Personal Orientation Questionnaire; Methodology "Type and level of professional self-realization" Gavrilova E.A.). In the static processing of the results, descriptive statistics methods and the U-Mann Whitney non-parametric statistical test were used. Statistical data processing was carried out using the STATISTICA 10 software package. The study found that both groups of women note the presence of a large number of problems associated with the professional sphere, such as loss of meaning in work and adaptation to the profession. The main components diagnosed during the analysis were: a feeling of fatigue from work and dissatisfaction with self-realization in work. The process of overcoming the crisis is difficult, regardless of what caused it. The main chosen ways to overcome the crises were: friends, family, children, travel and work, as well as changing the type of activity. Turning to a specialized specialist to solve problems related to crises turns out to be the least popular. Women who have experienced a professional crisis tend to live in the past, they have dissatisfaction with their lives, lack of interest in what is happening around, lack of pleasure from the work performed, lack of desire to set and achieve new goals. In women who have experienced a professional crisis, the resource component of professional self-realization is expressed, which is designed to ensure its procedural side, and non-reflective (imaginary) professional self-realization is expressed. Women in both groups are prone to the qualities of a self-actualizing personality, but at the same time, women who experienced a professional crisis showed weaker aspects of self-acceptance, but at the same time, the ability to concentrate on a given problem compared to women who survived other crises.

Abstract:
Journalistic role perceptions have been extensively studied in general contexts, but little is known as to how roles – or role prioritization – may shift across contexts, and professional characteristics. The aim of this study was gaining an understanding of journalists’ changing role perceptions in health crisis coverage, and moreover to examine potential differences between general and specialist reporters. We conducted 22 in-depth interviews with reporters with experience in health crisis reporting in Germany and Finland. Findings suggest that journalists’ roles shift when covering health crises (versus non-crises), towards a role as public mobilizers, towards classifying risks and from a watchdog to a more co-operative role. Furthermore, professional characteristics matter in journalists’ understanding and performance of their roles. Specialist reporters appear better equipped to deal with the challenges of health crisis coverage, such as balancing remaining critical with co-operation with authorities in their efforts to contain crises. Specialist reporters are also less likely to get swayed by the panic often accompanying health crises than general reporters are.

Abstract:
The construction of crisis is realized through the language of those expressing their individual or group perspectives. In 2020, many nations faced multiple crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic, which raised questions about how concurrent crises are interpreted and managed. Lebanon is an example of a country that experienced three concurrent crises in 2020: the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic crisis, and the Beirut Port explosion. This study focuses on Lebanon’s crises by analyzing ten English-language opinion articles written by authors who view the crises from their own professional, social, or cultural lens. The articles were qualitatively analyzed for instances of attitudinal meaning as presented in the appraisal framework. Four constructions of the crises emerged from the analysis, showing that the effects of the crises are unequal but interconnected, crisis management emphasizes certain stakeholders’ interests but not others, and a crisis has the potential to instigate change. Thus, analyzing diverse constructions of crises in the articles shows that they have been simultaneously constructed as victimizing and empowering, thus highlighting the role of power in shaping the effects and management of crises.

Abstract:
Ethical behavior is crucial across all life and professional spheres, especially in accounting, where ethical breaches leading to scandals are still prevalent. These often arise from an accountant's disregard for ethical standards, demonstrating a misalignment with the profession's values. Correspondingly, instances of ethical breaches among accounting professionals in Indonesia often elicit varied responses from accounting students. Hence, this study explored how idealism, relativism, accounting knowledge, gender, and religiosity impact Indonesian students' perceptions of unethical behavior among accountants. Sample collection utilized a purposive sampling technique via Google Forms, with research samples comprising 211 students who completed or were undertaking auditing courses in Indonesian universities. The results of Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) analysis revealed a significant positive impact of idealism, accounting knowledge, and religiosity on students' perceptions of unethical behavior among accountants. However, relativism and gender demonstrated no significant impact on students' perceptions of unethical behavior among accountants.

Abstract:
One British publishing company has chosen ‘permacrisis’ as the word of the year for 2022. In fact, the crisis has been permanent for the time longer than one year. Over the last few decades, crises have become so integrated into our lives that they look like a familiar and permanent backdrop. Crises of all kinds succeed one another: economic, epidemiological, ideological, political ... But in spite of everything, life goes on and the end of a difficult year was brightly coloured by regional conferences, governor’s prizes (14–22), glorious anniversaries and accompanying magnificent exhibitions (8–13) in the field of architecture. The first part of the issue’s main section is devoted to different kinds of crises: complex, professional, energy and climate ones. Crisis phenomena are found even in the sphere of toponymy and architectural details. Paradoxically, any crisis is also a window of opportunity, and this is the focus of the second part of the issue’s main section. The issue about crises would not be complete without the heritage section. Despite the devoted work of restoration architects (14), researchers of the history of regional architecture (120–160) and certain achievements in comprehensive regeneration of quarters in Russian cities, heritage has firmly stuck in permanent crisis, and the “protected by the state” signs often don’t calm down, but rather provoke rejection because of their discrepancy with harsh reality.

Abstract:
The article provides a theoretical psychological analysis of the problem of life crisis of an individual, namely the concepts and manifestations of life crisis. In particular, the essence of the terms «crisis», «crisis of life» in the works of Ukrainian and foreign scientists has been studied. The following types of crises are distinguished: crises of mental development; age crises; crises of a neurotic nature; occupational crises; critical and semantic crises; life crises, crises of personality formation. health crises, terminal crises, crises of meaningful relationships, crises of personal autonomy, crises of self-realization, crises of life mistakes. It is noted that the crisis can be defined as a long-term internal conflict over life in general, its meaning, main goals and ways to achieve them. It is substantiated that different conceptual directions in their unity form a complex, multilevel system, which is a methodological basis for studying such a complex and interesting phenomenon as the life crisis. In the process of studying the problem of life crisis, such concepts as a «personal crisis», «psychological crisis», «psycho-spiritual crisis», «biographical crisis», «crisis of professional development» and others were introduced. It is established that the causes of crisis phenomena are observed in those people who, in the opinion of the environment, are quite prosperous in terms of ordinary ideas about happiness. It is also noted that the life crisis has a number of features that distinguish it from other emotionally complex life situations. It is emphasized that the life crisis can be of different depth and have several stages or levels, the passage of which has its own specific features. However, it is noted that the crisis is always accompanied by stress, in some way contains frustration and always requires the activation of value and meaning. It is stated that in the framework of crisis psychology two more features of the crisis of life as an event in the life of an individual should be noted.

Abstract:
Introduction. Modern global processes of change in all spheres of society and the economy determine the priority of professional self-development of teachers who are ready to introduce new technologies and are able to change dynamically in the conditions of digital transformation of education and uncertainty of the future. The purpose of the study: to substantiate at the methodological level the process of professional self-development of a teacher in a digital educational environment and to determine at the empirical level the formation of a subjective and semantic position during periods of professional and pedagogical crises. Methodology, materials and methods. The methodological basis of the professional self-development of a teacher is a subjective approach, enriched with the idea of subject-semantic and subject-integrative regulatives. In the first case, the internal position of the teacher is the leading one, in the second – the influence of the external digital educational environment on the process of self-development during periods of professional and pedagogical crises. The study involved 76 teachers from educational institutions of general and secondary vocational education in Krasnodar and Krasnodar Krai. Questionnaires, testing, ranking, and correlation analysis were used as research methods. To assess the reliability of the established correlation coefficients, the Student's t-test was used. Results. It is established that teachers are characterized by a high level of activity in realizing their own needs for self-development (89.5%) and, as a result, low values of crisis-causing factors of professional and pedagogical activity (97.4%), as well as high indicators of factors of successful overcoming of professional and pedagogical crises (90.8%). The indicators of the realization of the need for active self-development and the factors of self-organization and selfcontrol of activities, as well as long-term goal-setting are significantly interdependent (tф>tst; α = 0,05). Conclusion. The results of the study contain a solution to the significant problem of substantiating and modernizing the process of professional self-development of a teacher. The implementation of this process on the basis of a subjective approach makes it possible to increase its effectiveness, to provide socio-pedagogical support to selfdeveloping teachers in crisis periods in a digital educational environment. Abstract:
Aim/Purpose: To present quantitative results of an investigation that assessed crises reported by doctoral candidates while working toward their degree. Background: Crises that candidates encounter during their doctoral journey may lead to attrition from the doctoral program. A crisis in a doctoral project has several characteristics that must be understood in order to identify the crisis and, if possible, take corrective actions. Our study investigates various types of potential crises and the way candidates experience them. Methodology: We conducted a survey among enrolled doctoral candidates at five universities in Israel and three technological universities in Western Europe. We compared the answers of Israeli Social Sciences and Humanities candidates with those of Israeli Science and Engineering candidates; we also compared the answers of Israeli Science and Engineering students with their Western European peers. We applied statistical analysis to identify and compare significant patterns of reported crises among these three groups of candidates. In addition, we tried to find significant relationships between the reported crises and selected parameters that characterize the candidates’ background and learning habits. Contribution: The research presents quantitative results of typical crises patterns in a comparative study. It shows that while many candidates experience crises, few seek professional assistance. Findings:Our investigation showed that about 60% of enrolled doctoral candidates reported a crisis. Of the candidates who reported crises, about 70% did not seek professional assistance. Emotional crises were reported by a significantly higher percentage of Social Sciences and Humanities students than of Science and Engineering students. Conversely, expectation crises were reported by a significantly higher percentage of Science and Engineering students than of Social Sciences and Humanities students. Significantly, more Social Sciences and Humanities students reported economic crises than did Science and Engineering students. Students who experienced a crisis reported that it caused delays in the research and affected its quality. As a result of their crisis, over 25% of Science and Engineering students seriously considered terminating their studies. Recommendations for Practitioners :The results and discussion may be useful as a guide for advisers to better understand the formation of crises among their doctoral students. Recommendation for Researchers: The quantitative methodology presented in the paper may be applied to investigate additional phenomena in the field of doctoral studies. Impact on Society : The paper demonstrates that doctoral students are aware of potential crises due to the stressful environment they face. By reducing the number of crises, it may be possible to reduce the current rates of attrition, which have a significant impact on national economy. Future Research In future work we plan to expand the research to include the US in the comparative study.

Introduction. In an integral system of continuous education, a number of interrelated stages can be distinguished, between which a through vertical integration must be carried out, ensuring the continuity and integrity of the process of personality development, the continuity of the general and professional education. There are still no empirically verified data on the gaps (crises) of continuity at the stage of school-university and psychological means of overcoming them. The research purpose is to study the psychological conditions and develop psychological and pedagogical means to ensure the continuity in the development of students’ personality at the stage of transition from general education to higher education. Research materials and methods. The study involved 280 respondents: 43 schoolchildren and 32 school teachers and 177 students and 28 university teachers. The experimental study was carried out using methods aimed at studying the level of personal and professional development, self-awareness, psychological defenses of an individual, the features of interaction between teachers and students, the development of corrective and developmental programs. Research results. The research results made it possible to single out three continuity crises: the crisis of transition from general education to higher education, the crisis of the middle of studies at a university and the crisis of transition from university studies to professional activity. It is shown for the first time that overcoming and preventing continuity crises depend on a set of psychological conditions: 1) the level of the student’s self-awareness, 2) the level of the teacher’s personal and professional development, 3) the degree of formation of the polysubject community at school and university. Psychological and pedagogical means (psychological programs) aimed at preventing and correcting continuity crises have been developed, implemented and they proved their effectiveness. The students of the experimental group showed an increase in indicators on most scales of the CAT test in the ratio “before” and “after” the formative experiment (p < 0.01), which indicates an increase in the level of their personal and professional development and self-awareness. Conclusion. The identification of psychological conditions and integration of corrective and developmental programs into the educational process of a university to ensure continuity in students’ development is a promising direction for improving the training of students – future teachers.

Abstract:
The sixth mass extinction and the ongoing biodiversity and climate crises demand urgent action from ecologists and environmental scientists (EESs). Despite their critical role in addressing these challenges, EESs face unclear professional responsibilities towards society, local communities and ecosystems. The 2024 ANdiNA workshop was held in Conguillío National Park in Chile, within Wallmapu the ancestral land of the Mapuche people. It gathered global EESs to explore the roles, obligations and accountability of professionals in this field. The discussions focused on the evolving responsibilities of EESs amidst the environmental crises, as well as the need for clearer frameworks to guide their actions.Key questions included the scope of EESs' professional activities, how their obligations should adapt during times of crisis and whether they should be held accountable for scientific mistakes that lead to negative societal outcomes. The workshop explored the potential for creating a codified framework, such as an oath or manifesto, to clarify EESs' professional responsibilities. Participants highlighted the importance of integrating financial, intellectual, ethical and institutional dimensions in defining these roles, particularly in how EESs engage with local communities and society.Emerging themes included the need for a shared framework to align EESs' actions, exemplified by the <i>Conguillío Statement</i>, which encourages collaboration, inclusivity and ethical engagement with communities, especially Indigenous ones. The workshop also emphasised the importance of solution-orientated, transformative research and advocacy, calling for a shift in how EESs approach their roles as agents of change. By critically reflecting on their responsibilities, the workshop provided a foundation for re-imagining the role of EESs in the face of global environmental crises, urging systemic, collaborative approaches to safeguarding both nature and humanity.

Abstract:
During crises the newsmedia are expected to provide relevant and accurate information to help citizens comprehend the crisis and act upon it. As a source-driven practice, journalism relies on a variety of sources to validate news and provide perspectives. The disruptive nature of a crisis though raises questions about how journalists select sources and what these choices say about professional autonomy and criticality. Considering source choices as newsgathering venues and strategies, and drawing on semi-structured interviews with journalists in Greece and Cyprus, the study explores the factors that shaped journalists’ sourcing practices during the COVID-19 crisis. We find that journalists over-relied on political sources and selective authoritative voices compromising the tenets of verification and independence. The fear to convey inaccurate or ‘biased’ information amid disinformation flows, bolstered journalist's elite orientation. Professional precarity and economic pressures are found to further worsen the ‘lived experience’ of journalists limiting their ability to question and scrutinise power in times of crises.

Abstract:
Purpose Emergency services face increasing frontline pressure to support those experiencing mental health crises. Calls have been made for police and ambulance staff to receive training on mental health interventions, prevention of risk and inter-professional collaboration. Mental health simulation training, a powerful educational technique that replicates clinical crises for immersive and reflective training, can be used to develop competencies in emergency staff. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of mental health simulation training for police and ambulance staff. Design/methodology/approach In total, 199 participants from the London Metropolitan Police Service and London Ambulance Service attended a one-day simulation training course designed to promote effective and professional responses to mental health crises. Participants took part in one of six simulated scenarios involving mental health crisis before completing structured debriefs with expert facilitators. Participants’ self-efficacy and attitudes towards mental illness were measured quantitatively using pre- and post-course questionnaires while participants’ perceived influence on clinical practice was measured qualitatively using post-course open-text surveys. Findings Statistically significant improvements in self-efficacy and attitudes towards mental illness were found. Thematic analyses of open-text surveys found key themes including improved procedural knowledge, self-efficacy, person-centred care and inter-professional collaboration. Originality/value This study demonstrates that mental health simulation is an effective training technique that improves self-efficacy, attitudes and inter-professional collaboration in police and ambulance staff working with people with mental health needs. This technique has potential to improve community-based responses to mental health crises.

Abstract:
Under the conditions of martial law in Ukraine, the organization of work in preschool educational institutions has undergone significant changes, particularly in the processes of professional development and the informational and methodological support provided to pedagogical staff. This study aims to assess the key features of professional and personal training for future preschool education specialists during crises, identify effective forms of such training, and analyze perspectives from both future specialists and their educators on critical practical aspects. The research employed methods of analysis, synthesis, generalization, and bibliographic review. Findings reveal that the training of preschool education specialists requires substantial improvement to adapt to the evolving challenges of modern realities. Ensuring high-quality preschool education in wartime conditions demands additional professional knowledge and skills. This necessitates collaborative efforts among practicing teachers, researchers, methodological services, and educational stakeholders to develop and implement enhanced training programs. The study concludes with recommendations to strengthen professional development frameworks for preschool education specialists, focusing on the integration of practical and theoretical expertise tailored to crisis contexts. Abstract:
The article is devoted to the problem of features of professional self-actualization of students-psychologists living in crisis of professional readiness. The definition of the term self-actualization and professional self-actualization among the works of domestic, Russian and foreign scientists is considered. In particular, professional self-actualization is defined as a complex multilevel phenomenon, a process of directed activity aimed at progress in one's own professional development, which is conditioned by the disclosure of one's own professional potential. Three approaches to the study of self-actualization in the professional sphere are highlighted: subject-activity, where professional activity is the main basis for self-actualization of the individual, due to difficulties and internal contradictions; personal development, where professional self-actualization leads to profound internal changes and forms and professional maturity; acmeological, in which professional self-actualization is the achievement of the highest level of professionalism, professional and personal maturity ("acme"). The concept of crisis of professional readiness and features of living of crisis by psychology students are analyzed. It is noted that the level of experiences of the crisis of professional readiness is the most intense among other normative crises of professional training. The peculiarities of the crisis development are highlighted: the contradiction between the awareness of the beginning of professional activity and at the same time the lack of readiness. The intra-personal conflict between learning motivations and professional motivation is determined. A number of features of professional self-actualization of students-psychologists and their interrelation with the crisis of professional readiness are considered.

Abstract:
So far, many studies indicated that youth experience mental problems during crises, such as the COVID-19 crisis, but little attention has been paid to the relation to age-adequate functioning and its association to layered social environments. This study addresses this gap by investigating the association between social environments (i.e., household, friends, and neighbourhood) during the COVID-19 crisis with youth’s mental problems and age-adequate functioning. In total, 673 youth (mean age = 19.87, 73.4% girls) were surveyed online during the COVID-19 outbreak. In line with predictions, worse contact with household members was associated with more internalizing symptoms. A lack of privacy was associated with more internalizing and externalizing symptoms and difficulties achieving personal and school and professional milestones. Living with a vulnerable other was associated with more internalizing symptoms and difficulties achieving school and professional milestones. Worse contact with friends was associated with difficulty achieving social milestones. Additionally, neighbourhood risk moderated the association between living with a vulnerable other and school and professional milestones. A lack of privacy stood out as the most important factor associated to youth’s mental problems and achievement of developmental milestones. Future research should indicate to what extent these findings are COVID-19 crisis-specific or can generalize to other crises.

After-action reports are important texts that make sense of moments of crisis and restore organizational order. We add to existing research on these reports by incorporating the rhetorical concepts of terministic screens and the pentad to understand how reports commemorate disorder and organizational trauma. Analyzing the multiple reports created after the 2017 Las Vegas Shooting, we find that reports from different professional fields commemorate crises in disparate ways that select and deflect memories of trauma. This study extends risk and crisis studies of crisis documentation by highlighting the emotional role reports play in making sense of organizational trauma and considering how professional fields influence post-crisis rhetoric of renewal.

Abstract:
Current and past economic and financial crises have changed the behaviour of busi-ness leaders, managers, and investors, as well as accounting professionals (financial accountants, bookkeepers, management accountants, auditors). The fear of further financial crises has forced accounting reforms, the revision of auditing standards, and a restructuring of corporate governance systems in many countries to provide a relia-ble framework for companies’ activities and performance. The International Federa-tion of Accountants (IFAC) board founded the International Ethics Standard Board for Accountants (IESBA), which issued the Code of Ethics for Professional Account-ants (IFAC Code) as a set of globally accepted guidelines for ethical conduct. The first version was published in 1990, and it was recommended (but not mandatory) for IFAC members to adopt. Establishing a unified code of ethics was one of the major achievements of IFAC that provided solid guidelines for accounting professionals across the world. Prior research indicates that the IFAC Code has been moderately successful in the attempt to harmonise ethics standards for professional accountants worldwide. As globalisation continues to affect business culture and technology, and, consequently, the focus of business, the accounting profession must keep pace and reassess its role in the world economy, but also in society. This is especially important during economic and financial crises, when the classic entrepreneurial model is not sustainable. Not only can a code of ethics can provide a framework for appropriate employee behaviour and establish a better corporate culture, it can also improve lead-ership, help organisations to comply with government guidelines, and enable organisa-tions to be more socially responsible. Many ethical issues could be explored in the con-text of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), not only in times of crisis. The high-profile ethical failures of professional accountants in recent decades taught us the importance of ethics education. A professional accountant’s responsibility is not exclusively to satisfy the needs of an individual client or employing organization. All accountants should act in the public interest by complying with fundamental ethical principles (integrity, objectivity, professional competence and due care, confidentiality, and professional behaviour) since these principles establish the standard of expected behaviour. Therefore, accounting ethics should be promoted much more in education and in practice. Accounting and business educators have a special responsibility to ex-amine and teach ethics in the broader context of globalisation. Regulations and volun-tary standards aim at minimizing fraud and manipulation of business information, but ethical behaviour is the key to achieving an honest business environment and sustaina-ble growth.

Abstract:
Each year, many health care professionals are involved in the control of infectious disease crises, including acute infectious disease outbreaks, acts of bioterrorism, and resulting or accompanying fear or panic. For these crises, specific guidelines have been drawn up that are to be implemented at the time of a specific threat. The effectiveness of these measures largely depends on the general level of infection prevention and control (IPC) in standard care. During crises, however, the control of infectious diseases is complicated by changes in the number, type, and contact patterns of patients, travelers, probands, or other groups at increased risk of infection; by changed case definitions of the disease that need to be made public; and by changed recommendations for precautionary measures. Moreover, crises pose an extra burden on the time of care professionals and may lead to or stem from additional undue attention in the media or criticism by professional organizations

Abstract:
The widespread dissemination of contradictory information through various media platforms can increase anxiety and confusion among younger generations. This highlights the need to promote Media Literacy (ML) skills, enabling them to evaluate online information's validity critically. Video game-based learning can be valuable in this context, fostering active learning and critical thinking. Therefore, developing and sharing innovative resources like interactive content and video games is crucial to enhancing young people's ML skills and resilience to disinformation. The YO-MEDIA project, involving three universities in Italy, Portugal, and Spain and a journalist association, aims to develop ML in young people during times of crisis (e.g., pandemics and wars) through game-based learning strategies and professional training. The project carried out 29 semi-structured interviews in the partner countries with various stakeholders to understand perspectives on media design practices and ML formulation for young people in crises. These interviews aimed to collect education and media professionals' insights on promoting ML and critical thinking among youth during crises. It also seeks to gather best practices and understand these professionals' challenges when fostering ML among youth. This study's findings suggest that the interviewees deem ML vital for distinguishing accurate information from misinformation during crises, especially relevant for young individuals. Essential skills for these young people include critical thinking, filtering information, and recognizing online threats. Effective strategies involve operating within digital environments frequented by young people, encouraging critical thinking, and nurturing collaboration. Professionals face challenges such as a lack of training, engaging young people's attention, and keeping pace with digital environments. The interviewees also emphasized the importance of ML training for informal educators and media professionals. They recommended Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) for their flexibility and accessibility. According to the interviewees, an ML game should involve research, interpretation, and decision-making processes and be accessible to young people with disabilities. They identified several ML projects and resources, including multimedia labs, youth parliaments, and critical thinking tools. This study contributes to developing games that promote critical thinking and ML in young people. It also aids in establishing ongoing professional training in ML for informal educators, teachers, media professionals, and other stakeholders.

Abstract:
The political and economic disjunctures associated with the 2008 financial crisis and the policy responses to it have coincided with the deepening of professional journalism’s cultural crisis of authority and legitimacy, associated with declining public confidence in the hegemonic norms underpinning journalism practice. This paper presents the findings of research undertaken in the newsroom of Ireland’s main public service media organisation aimed at exploring the durability of key tenets of journalistic professionalism as its practitioners negotiated the crisis. In demonstrating evidence from interview testimony of limited editorial responses to crisis, enduring support for dominant professional norms and prevailing practices of representation, inclusion and participation, the findings are suggestive of a broad normative resilience in the face of crisis. Such stability, it is argued, reflects the ideological enmeshment of public service media and journalistic professionalism within the political and cultural systems of their host states but offers few resources for extricating public service journalism from deepening professional and institutional cultural crises.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the literature on management and communication consulting in general, and crisis consulting in particular, by investigating how public relations and communications firms understand crises, crisis management, and crisis communication; how they see themselves practicing crisis consulting; and how they envisage the future of this field of expertise. Design/methodology/approach The study is based on 12 semi-structured in-depth expert interviews with CEOs, board members, senior consultants, and/or partners representing national and international public relations and communications firms operating in Denmark who offer crisis consulting as one of their areas of expertise. Findings Findings demonstrate that crisis consulting is a field in transition, moving away from the traditional focus on image crises in the media handled by former journalists, toward a new focus on issue crises involving other types of stakeholders. Findings also demonstrate that crisis consultants generate important insights into aspects of crisis management and crisis communication hitherto neglected by academic scholars. Practical implications The insights into the professional “world view” of crisis consultants will contribute to the professionalization of the field. Abstract:
Crisis, natural or man-made, is inevitable in our life because of human social interactions. Crises are caused by ineffective communication yet are better solved with effective communication. Scholars have studied social media's role in crisis management as an information propagator and their cost effectiveness during a crisis. Social media can potentially influence multiple public strata during and after the crisis. Social media serves as tools for relationship management which is a crucial part of crisis management; equally, public relations also serve the same. This paper explores how effective crisis communication management can be achieved via Social Networking Systems (SNS). Drawing from the existing literature as the method used, this paper reviews articles and studies on public relations strategy and effective crisis management. It expounds on examples of how relationships can be well-managed through social media in crises. This paper has increased our knowledge of crisis management by understanding how crises are managed. Findings are that crisis communication was managed from four conceptual lenses scholars have investigated; that crises can be prevented- partially if not completely- with a proper crisis communication plan; that having a crisis communication plan may not suffice except is handled by professional relationship managers who know how to communicate and understand the use of the conventional and new media with the influential role of symmetrical communication. Therefore, the paper concluded that since crisis leads to a bad relationship due to a lack of understanding of the situation and behavior and to facilitate this, it suggests that crisis is better managed through effective public relations managers.

Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to outline the prospects for solving a number of conceptual problems in the psychology of professional and career development of a personality based on the implementation of a structural-level approach tothe analysis of this process. The article examines the grounds that determine the need and the possibility of developing a structural-level approach to the psychological analysis of the professional formation of a personality, reveals its content and main provisions. The necessity of using it to overcome the artificial opposition of ontogenetic and professional genetic approaches to the professional development of a personality is substantiated. The possibilities of the structurallevel approach are demonstrated on the example of studying the problem of periodization of professional development, the problem of the relationship between monocyclic and polycyclic in the course of professionalization, the problem of interaction between specialization and universalization in the process of professionalization, and the problem of classification of normative crises of professional development. Various types of periodization of professional development are analyzed, their weak and strong sides are identified. It has been proved that only level periodization reflects the real patterns of professionalization and is the basis for its diagnosis and design. The psychological content of polycyclic and monocyclic professionalization is clarified, their functions are revealed. It has been established that they complement and do not contradict each other, and their manifestation is closely related to the peculiarities of economic relations. It is shown that the psychological mechanisms of polycyclic and monocyclic are of a level nature. The psychological mechanisms of specialization and universalization are specified. It has been revealed that they are manifested at different levels of professionalization. The determinative basis of specialization is the person-profession system, and universalization is the person-world system. The approach to the classification of the normative crises of professionalization is analyzed. The contradictions of the existing classification are shown. It has been proved that there are two main types of regulatory crises: the crises of labor and the crises of the professional path, which refer to different levels of professionalization.

Organizational crises have often stimulated scholarly theorizing that has been productive for our field. Rarely, however, are there opportunities to theorize regarding crises that happen in our own professional associations. A crisis experienced by Professor Anita McGahan when she was the President of the Academy of Management, described in an accompanying article, has presented such an opportunity. In this set of nine brief reflections, several scholars have considered how McGahan’s actions with regard to that crisis can be understood conceptually and how they may stimulate development of previously established conceptual perspectives. These reflections make evident that McGahan’s actions cannot be appreciated without recognition of the complex dilemmas to which she was responding. These dilemmas include issues of trustworthy leadership, gendered power, leader voice, sensemaking and learning, organizational identities, psychological contracts, institutional leadership, and “good bureaucracy.”

Abstract:
The main goal of this paper is to determine the impact of boards of directors’ social capital on the companies’ resilience to exogenous shocks. The study explores social capital formed by various types of connections: professional, international, and political. The data of the largest non-financial companies in Russia, which shares were included in the Moscow Exchange Broad Market Index, covers the period from 2007 to 2020. It allows analyzing the global financial crisis of 2008–2009, the commodity crisis and sanctions in 2014–2015, and the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The empirical results of least-squares estimation of fixed-effects models show the different influences on the companies’ resilience of the considered connections during the crises. The results show a persistent negative impact of these crises, except the one caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The social capital of board members has a different influence on the companies’ resilience during these crises. Professional ties decreased the negative effect during the global financial crisis. Professional and political connections strengthened the negative impact on companies’ resilience during 2014–2015. Thus, the nature of the crisis plays an important role.

Abstract:
Mental health crises among professional athletes have garnered increasing attention due to their impact on performance, career longevity, and well-being. This study evaluates the effectiveness of sports psychiatry interventions in reducing such crises. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research combines quantitative analysis of mental health outcomes with qualitative interviews of athletes across various disciplines over two years. Key interventions included cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness training, and psychoeducation tailored to the demands of professional sports. The findings revealed a 40% decrease in reported mental health crises among athletes who participated in these programs. Qualitative data highlighted improved coping mechanisms, emotional regulation, and mental resilience, with athletes reporting greater psychological safety and confidence. These results demonstrate the critical role of sports psychiatry in fostering mental well-being and underscore the need for its integration into professional athletic programs to support sustainable mental health and performance.

Abstract:
The article discusses the pedagogical possibilities of identifying and preventing crises in professional self-determination, which have a significant impact on the process of shaping the personality of future teachers. The highest results in future professional activity are made possible only if the main characteristics of the individual and the characteristics of the profession coincide, and their mismatch may lead to crises in professional self-determination. An analysis of the causes of such crises lie in the contradictions and struggle of value attitudes, operational and motivational lines of personal development, adoption of “adult decisions,” makes it possible to identify the main criteria and indicators for the manifestation of crises in the professional development of future teachers. The most significant signs of these crises can be identified in the process of diagnosing the level of professional readiness, psychological stability and adaptability of students, manifested in the development of their communicative social and reflective competence. A study of the causes of crises of professional self-determination among students over several years showed that they manifested different variants of motivational and value crises, which were accompanied by uncertainty, psychological discomfort, especially among those who had a low level of subjective control (externals) and reflective culture. Overcoming the crises of professional self-determination was facilitated by the system of teaching students pedagogy and psychology, their passage of various types of technological practices that implied self-knowledge and stimulation of self-development. Of no less importance were diverse preventive projects of vocational guidance: “pedagogical class groups;” off-site classes organized at children’s recreation camps, out-of-town centers and tourist camps; meetings with successful representatives of the pedagogical profession, for example, winners of the Teacher of the Year contest. The study has theoretical and practical significance, because it helps to improve teacher education, and its prognostic potential lies in continuous support of crises in professional self-determination of schoolchildren and students, the specification of the content and the development of pedagogical technologies to overcome these problems.

Abstract:
History is a discipline in a state of perpetual crisis. Thus, in 1970, Arthur Marwick explained much of the controversy over historians' use of social science methods and theories in the latest incarnation of a social history which emerged after the Second World War. History's flirtations with the social sciences are recurrent. So are its crises. In the 1980s, Marwick's view of cyclical crises in history has been borne out. The use in history of ‘illuminating’ social science methods and concepts is now widely accepted. A spirit of tolerance, respect and professional courtesy has replaced the outward hostility which until recently characterized exchanges between the so-called ‘traditional’ and new social historians respectively.

Abstract:
This article examines the role of architecture and urban planning in contemporary crises, from the 2008 financial crisis to the COVID-19 pandemic and the current climate emergency. Revisiting Buchanan’s Big Rethink (2011)—a necessary radical revision of architectural and urban principles—the study analyzes regulatory frameworks and urban strategies that have emerged in response to these crises. Based on a corpus of over 500 press articles, the research identifies emerging discourses and proposes legal and deontological tools to strengthen the profession’s strategic role in adapting to and mitigating climate insecurity in urban environments. The study concludes that it is essential to reform architectural and urban planning practices to expand professional responsibility in addressing emerging environmental and social challenges.

Abstract:
The relevance of the research topic is determined by the inevitability and diversity of crises in human life. It is noted that interpersonal relations play a role in the experience and overcoming of life crises. The mechanism of affiliation is identified as a factor influencing interpersonal relationships. This paper presents an analysis of theoretical approaches to understanding this phenomenon and its definition. It is observed that the issues of affiliation and, in particular, the role of affiliation in the experience of stressful situations and life crises are currently underdeveloped. The study of the affiliation motive in the context of experiencing life crises was found to have significant theoretical and applied potential. The objective of the presented research is to analyze the impact of life crises on the expression of the need for affiliation and to test the hypothesis that there is a relationship between the level of expression of the need for affiliation and the temporal distance between the actual life period and the place of the crisis event in the temporal space of the life path of an individual. The data from the content analysis of 390 definitions used by respondents to describe crisis events in their lives are presented. Based on the content analysis, the prevailing semantic units describing the central problem of the respondents' life crises are identified. The study revealed that the most distressing experiences were related to professional activities, family relationships, life changes, Special Military Operation (SMO), financial difficulties, and the illness of a loved one. The study describes specific temporal ranges of experiencing crisis events. It also outlines diagnostics of the state of need for affiliation, which were used to differentiate the total sample into subgroups with high, medium, and low levels of desire for acceptance. The level of affiliation in respondents with different temporal characteristics of experienced life crises was compared. The dynamics of the need for acceptance depending on the temporal indicators of the crisis events was noted. As the acuity of the life crisis increases, the probability of decreasing the need for affiliation increases. The closer in time the crisis is, the less the need for affiliation is formed.

Abstract:
The classical view in the sociology of professions is rooted in Parsons’ work. By using the term “profession,” this view tries to distinguish a class of occupations that serves a specific function in society. As is well known, such a functional view in the sociology of professions came under attack in the 1970s, when professionalization processes were increasingly analyzed in terms of interests and power. In this article, we have pointed out the theoretical and empirical relevance of a line of thought that emerged in the 1980s in the German-speaking academic world. It has revitalized a functional approach based on research into the interaction between professionals and their clients. The general idea that has emerged is that research into the microstructures of professional action could reveal a societal function that would explain the particular institutional features ascribed to professions.
