Abstract:
Aiming at calculation of traffic zone radius, probability density and probability distribution of trip distance were analyzed. Inner trip proportion, traffic zone radius, trip distance, space between traffic zone center and trip generator, probability of trip distance were defined as P, R, D, S and f(D) respectively. According to the relationship between D and R, three conditions were considered, i.e. D≤R, R<D≤2R and D>2R. Two models among and P and R, D, S, f(D) were established under the condition of D≤R, R<D≤2R. P was regarded as zero when D>2R. The calculating method and procedures of the traffic zone radius based on trip distance were put forward.

AbstractA graph is called radially maximal if it is not complete and the addition of any new edge decreases its radius. Harary and Thomassen [‘Anticritical graphs’, Math. Proc. Cambridge Philos. Soc.79(1) (1976), 11–18] proved that the radius r and diameter d of any radially maximal graph satisfy $r\le d\le 2r-2.$ Dutton et al. [‘Changing and unchanging of the radius of a graph’, Linear Algebra Appl.217 (1995), 67–82] rediscovered this result with a different proof and conjectured that the converse is true, that is, if r and d are positive integers satisfying $r\le d\le 2r-2,$ then there exists a radially maximal graph with radius r and diameter $d.$ We prove this conjecture and a little more.

Let K be a planar, compact, convex set with circumradius R, diameter d, width w and inradius r, and containing no points of the integer lattice. We generalise inequalities concerning the ‘dual’ quantities (2R − d) and (w − 2r) to rectangular lattices. We then use these results to obtain corresponding inequalities for a planar convex set with two interior lattice points. Finally, we conjecture corresponding results for sets containing one interior lattice point.

An equitable (k, d)-coloring is a (k, d)-coloring that is also equitable. In this paper, we raise a conjecture that if G is a graph such that for each edge xy ∈ E(G), the sum d(x) + d(y) at most 2r + 1, then G has a d-relaxed equitable coloring with r + 1 - d colors. We prove that if graph G meet d(x) + d(y) ≤ 2r for every edge xy ∈ E(G) and |G| = rs, then [Formula: see text].

AbstractLet A, B denote binary forms of order d, and let 2r−1 = (A, B)2r−1 be the sequence of their linear combinants for $1 \le r \le \lfloor\frac{d+1}{2}\rfloor$. It is known that 1, 3 together determine the pencil {A + λ B}λ∈P1 and hence indirectly the higher combinants 2r−1. In this paper we exhibit explicit formulae for all r ≥ 3, which allow us to recover 2r−1 from the knowledge of 1 and 3. The calculations make use of the symbolic method in classical invariant theory, as well as the quantum theory of angular momentum. Our theorem pertains to the plethysm representation ∧2Sd for the group SL2. We give an example for the group SL3 to show that such a result may hold for other categories of representations.

Abstract:
We have studied the reaction of both D- and L-penicillamine with pyridoxal hydrochloride and examined the products by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure of the title compound, A, formed by the reaction of D-penicillamine and pyridoxal was determined. Crystals are orthorhombic, P212121, with cell dimensions a = 9.507(5), b = 19.185(5), c = 7.766(2) Å and Z = 4. The structure was solved by standard methods and refined to R = 0.088, Rw = 0.079 for 2433 independent reflections. A exists as a zwitterion, and bond lengths and angles are normal. In the solid state, A and the corresponding product obtained from L-penicillamine, B, have identical geometrical structure but are of opposite chirality; that is, D-penicillamine produces the 2R,4S diastereomer and L-penicillamine produces the 2S,4R diastereomer (with no S,S and R,R components). In solution, however, NMR spectra show the presence of both pairs of diastereomers (2R,4S and 2S,4S; 2S,4R and 2R,4R). In neutral or alkaline solution there appears to be a rapid epimerization at the thiazolidine carbon atom attached to the pyridoxal moiety. Features of the mass, 1H NMR, vibrational, and electronic spectra are also discussed. Key words: D-penicillamine, vitamin B6, pyridoxal hydrochloride, therapeutic uses, bischemical reactions, structures.

AbstractLet R be a ring which possesses a unit element, a Lie ideal U ⊄ Z, and a derivation d such that d(U) ≠ 0 and d(u) is 0 or invertible, for all u ∈ U. We prove that R must be either a division ring D or D2, the 2 X 2 matrices over a division ring unless d is not inner, R is not semiprime, and either 2R or 3R is 0. We also examine for which division rings D, D2 can possess such a derivation and study when this derivation must be inner.

Abstract:
Abstract Binary codes created by doubling construction, including quasi-perfect ones with distance d = 4, are investigated. All [17·2r−6, 17·2r−6 − r, 4] quasi-perfect codes are classified. Weight spectrum of the codes dual to quasi-perfect ones with d = 4 is obtained. The automorphism group Aut(C) of codes obtained by doubling construction is studied. A subgroup of Aut(C) is described and it is proved that the subgroup coincides with Aut(C) if the starting matrix of doubling construction has an odd number of columns. (It happens for all quasi-perfect codes with d = 4 except for Hamming one.) The properness and t-properness for error detection of codes obtained by doubling construction are considered.

Пусть $S \subset \mathbb{R}^{n}$ - замкнутое непустое множество такое, что для некоторых $d \in [0,n]$ и $\varepsilon>0$ $d$-вместимость по Хаусдорфу $\mathscr{H}^{d}_{\infty}(S \cap Q(x,r)) \geq \varepsilon r^{d}$ для всех кубов $Q(x,r)$ с центрами в $x \in S$ и длинами ребер $2r \in (0,2]$.

Abstract:
Certain general properties of the detour distance, weak edge detour set, connected weak edge detour set, connected weak edge detour number and connected weak edge detour basis of graphs are studied in this paper. Their relationship with the detour diameter is discussed. It is proved that for each pair of integers k and n with 2 <= k <= n, there exists a connected graph G of order n with cdnw(G)=k. It is also proved that for any three positive integers R,D,k such that k >= D and R < D <= 2R, there exists a connected graph G with radD (G) = R, diamD G = D and cdnw(G)=k.

Abstract:
The resistor ladder (R/2R) digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) architecture is often used in high performance audio solutions due to its low-noise performance. Even high-end R/2R DACs suffer from static nonlinearity distortions. It was suspected that compensating for these nonlinearities would be possible. It was also suspected that this could improve audio quality in audio systems using R/2R DACs for digital-to-analogue (A/D) conversion. Through the use of models of the resistor ladder architecture a way of characterizing and measuring the faults in the R/2R DAC was created. A compensation algorithm was developed in order to compensate for the nonlinearities. The performance of the algorithm was simulated and an implementation of it was evaluated using an audio evaluation instrument. The results presented show that it is possible to increase linearity in R/2R DACs by compensating for static nonlinearity distortions. The increase in linearity can be quite significant and audible for the trained ear.

Abstract:
Surface curvature is known to have significant effects on film cooling performance, with convex curvature inducing increased film effectiveness and concave curvature causing decreased film effectiveness. Generally, these curvature effects have been presumed to scale with 2r/d at the film cooling hole location, where r is the radius of curvature and d is coolant hole diameter. In this study, the validity of this scaling of curvature effects are examined by performing experiments in regions of large and low curvature on a model vane. Single rows of cylindrical holes were placed at various locations along the high curvature section of the suction side of the vane. For the first series of experiments, a single row of holes was placed at two locations with different local surface curvature. The coolant hole diameters were then adjusted to match 2r/d values. Results from these experiments showed that there was better correspondence of film performance when using the 2r/d scaling, but there was not an exact matching of performance. A second series of experiments focused on evaluating the effects of curvature downstream of the coolant holes. One row of holes was placed at a position upstream of the highest curvature, while another row was placed at a downstream position such that the radius of curvature was equivalent for the two rows of holes. Results indicated that the local radius of curvature is not sufficient in understanding the performance of film cooling. Instead, the curvature envelope downstream of the coolant holes plays a significant role on the performance of film cooling for cylindrical holes.

Abstract:
Experimental observations of a secondary load cycle in the force acting on a vertical cylinder exposed to long and steep waves are discussed. A complementary discussion of the occurrence of ringing of models of offshore structures is given. The height of the secondary load cycle is typically up to about 0.1–0.15 times the peak to peak force on the cylinder. The load cycle is observed for a nondimensional wavenumber kR in the range 0.1–0.33 and for a Froude number Fr = ωζm/gD exceeding about 0.4. Pronounced ringing occurs for the same parameter range. (k the wavenumber, R the cylinder radius, ω the wave frequency, ζm the maximal wave elevation, g the acceleration of gravity, D = 2R.)
