Full textCurrently, few re-use ways are developed with clay fines from washing units in quarries. However, these clayey fines represent interesting materials for construction domain. This research work aims to develop non-load bearing precast products and to re-use these fines without thermal treatment as for unfired clay products. Two types of precast products are wished: a “heavy” product (compressed earth brick) and a “light” product (tile hemp-clay).For the CEB re-use way, the level of compaction has to be high. Proctor tests have been done to define the moisture content and dry density to obtain. Mechanical performances of bricks have been increased by overcompaction, granular reinforcement and lime treatment. For the tile re-use way, mixes with quarry fines and hemp have been studied. The behaviour of fresh material has been studied with VEBE consistometer. Flexural and compression strengths have been measured on hardened mixes. Lime and water-reducing agent have been necessary for a good mechanical behaviour. The two re-use ways have been validated by measuring mechanical and physical performances of products manufactured at industrial scale. The optimal mix for CEB includes almost 80% of quarry fines. The CEB is classed in BTC40 category according to experimental standard XP13-901 (brick with a low water absorption level and resistant to water spray). The optimal mix for tile includes 60% of quarry fines and satisfies mechanical requirements for gypsum blocks

Full textMany key technologies, to overcome some crucial steps, are needed for space missions. One of them concerns the re-entry: when the vehicle enters the atmosphere layer, its high velocity relative to the ground will generate significant friction and an increase in pressure. The kinetic energy of the object will be converted into heat energy and heat the gas forming a shock wave. Temperatures depend on the initial velocity, the atmosphere composition and its pressure. The gas is ionized and become plasma, it will therefore transfer its heat to the body of the probe not only by convection but also by radiation. To protect itself, the vehicle has a heat shield that can withstand extreme phenomena encountered during the descent. Additional constraints will impose a particular geometry and a heavy shield. So the goal is to have the lightest possible and effective protections to allow the probe to maximize its payload. For this, one of the key parameters is to know the behavior of the plasma and radiation produced during re-entry into the atmosphere. This thesis is positioned in this area of study: experiments to create a re-entry plasma are intended to be observed by a spectrometer

Full textThis study focuses on isotopic composition of molybdenite (MoS₂) in order to decipher possible links between occurrence type, mineralizing processes, ages and observed δMo variations. A data base (n=391) have been built thanks to data from this study and data from literature allowing to run solid statistics on Mo isotopic composition of MoS₂. Different occurrence types have been investigated (granite, pegmatite, greisens, perigranitic vein, porphyry deposit, skarn, IOCG, polymetallic epithermal vein and alpine-type fissure vein). All δ₉₈Mo have been normalized to NIST3134 (δ₉₈MoNIST(NIST) = 0‰). The distribution of all data is Gaussian with a mean value of 0.04±1.04‰ (2σ). δ₉₈MoNIST mean values are higher for alpine-type fissure vein, greisens and perigranitic vein than for skarn, granite and porphyry deposit. These last occurrence types crystallize at higher temperature. For granite-related occurrences, δ₉₈MoNIST of granite is lower than δ₉₈MoNIST of pegmatite and perigranitic vein. This suggests an influence of temperature on Mo isotopic fractionation. Intra-occurrence variations have been evidenced. The intra-occurrence variations are not depending of the occurrence type. δ₉₈MoNIST of the Azegour skarn vary on large range of 1.02‰. Rayleigh fractionation is proposed as principal fractionation process. S and Pb isotopic analyses suggest a contribution of hosting volcano-sedimentary series. δ₉₈MoNIST of Ploumanac’h pegmatite vary on a narrow range of 0.22‰. S and Pb isotopic analyses suggest a strong crustal contribution in magmas genesis
