ENGLISH: Some Controversies Regarding the Arrival Place of Sebastian Cabot in Itati, Corrientes (Argentina): A Historical Archaeological Approach. After giving up on his original destination, Sebastian Cabot headed towards the Parana River seeking the mythical Sierra de la Plata. After founding the Sancti Spiritus fort in 1528, he sailed the Parana River and stopped in north of Corrientes, Argentina. It was here that Cabot remained for a month living with cacique Yaguaron and his people. This work explores the possibility that this event occurred at the township of Itati. This work is a critical analysis of primary sources (including Sebastian Cabot and Luis Ramirez) as well as secondary sources. Historical information is contextualized with material evidence obtained from the archaeological research. In particular, the discovery of ceramics which contain decorative styles associated with the historical Guarani people is presented.

Abstract:
The article focuses on the Venetian explorer Sebastian Cabot’s contribution to the preparation of English maritime expeditions in the 1550s. In the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries English merchants, like those of Portugal and Spain, were interested in overseas voyages and the discovery of new lands. They were mainly interested in finding accessible sea routes to Eastern countries (India, China, Japan) and the most active in this direction were traders from Bristol and a diaspora of English merchants from Spanish Seville. The most famous among them was the Venetian Sebastian Cabot, who was known as explorer of the coasts of North and South America in the name of the English and then the Spanish crown. Using advanced Spanish navigational skills, Cabot was instrumental in preparing England’s first expedition of Hugh Willoughby and Richard Chancellor, which set out in 1553 to find the Northeast Passage to Asia, but discovered a sea route from England to Russia. He was also the founder and the first governor of the Muscovy Company which conducted trade between Russia and England. Cabot’s activities are poorly reflected in historiography. Based on English, Spanish and Venetian sources, the author examines his contribution to the formation of Tudor England as a maritime power and future colonial empire.

Abstract:
Horizontal and vertical distribution of mesopelagic Phosichthyidae fish larvae was described based on data sampled collected from the surface up to 200 m depth, and at five stratums on the water column. The sampling was performed in summer and winter, 2002, on perpendiculars transects in southeastern Brazilian Bight, between São Tomé Cape (RJ) and São Sebastião Island (SP). The abundance of larval (larvae.m²) was estimated from sample of Bongo net (333 cm) and the density (larvae.m³) from sample of Multi Plankton Sampler (300 cm). A total of 538 larvae of Phosichthyidae was collected during summer, and 146 in the winter. Two species, Pollichthys mauli and Vinciguerria nimbaria, were identified; both were mainly distributed in the oceanic region of the study area and were more abundant between 60 and 80 m depth, where temperature and salinity were higher than 20°C and 36, respectively, which are directly related with the Tropical Water mass, transported by Brazil Current. All larval stages of development were caught, however, the majority was in postflexion stage. In relation to diel variation, larvae were more abundant during the night.

Abstract:
As assinaturas tafonômicas observadas refletem as condições hidrodinâmicas locais.
The present work focuses on the study of planktonic foraminifera on the southeast Brazilian continental margin between São Sebastião, SP and São Tomé, RJ. This was done by means of a survey of the existing species in the plankton. The seasonal and vertical distribution in the water column (0-100 m depth) of the planktonic foraminifera species was also determined. In addition, a comparison of the biocenose and of the tatocenose was carried out as well as a tafonomic analysis of the tests deposited in the bottom. This was done in order to evaluate the sedimentary record of these organisms and consider the possibility of using tafonomic signatures in planktonic foraminifera tests in order to better understand the hydrodynamic processes in the study area. For this, plankton samples collected in the summer and winter of 2002, as well as sediment samples, were analyzed. Methodologies common to planktonic foraminfera analysis were applied. The results show that there is a great seasonal difference in abundance and size of the planktonic foraminifera on the southeast Brazilian continental margin. The vertical distribution of these animals in the summer seems to be related to the depth of the mixture layer, variations in water temperature, and to the food chain. In the depth interval between 0 m and 40 m, there was a predominance of Globigerinoides ruber (pink) and Globigerinoides ruber (white). The species Globigerina bulloides, Neogloboquadrina dutertrei and Globigerinella siphonifera are predominate between 40 and 60 m. On the other hand, between 60 and 80 m Globorotalia menardii, Orbulina universa and Globigerina falconenis occur in greater quantities. The sedimentary record of the species of planktonic foraminifera found in the study area reflect the biocenose, being therefore appropriate for the usage in environmental and paleoceanographic analyses. The tafonomic signatures observed reflect the local hydrodynamic conditions.

Abstract:

Abstract:
A laboratory is defined as a place equipped with the necessary means to carry out research, experimentation and diagnostic procedures on a case, under controlled conditions. If we establish that in architecture our case is the project, we could consider that the definition of laboratory is close to what we know as studio. From this perspective, the second year teaching team of the School of Architecture at Universidad San Sebastián proposes the Laboratory of Elements (LdE) as an instance of experimental pedagogy, in which the learning process is developed methodologically through the practice of dissection, where the architectural project is sectioned to study its fundamental parts and then, through iterations and experimental applications, make them protagonists of the design process.
