Abstract:
A novel SO2F2-promoted thiocyanation method for the one-step synthesis of thiocyanates through C–O bond cleavage of readily available alcohols with ammonium thiocyanate as the thiocyanating agent was developed. The method avoids the use of additional catalyst, and a variety of (hetero)arene, alkene and aliphatic alcohols reacted with high efficiency in ethyl acetate under mild conditions to afford the corresponding thiocyanates in excellent to quantitative yields with broad functional-group compatibility.

Abstract:
A simple and rapid flow injection spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of amount of thiocyanate in wastewaters and well water samples. It is based on the reaction of thiocyanate in hydrochloric acid with janus green and bromate. Reaction was monitored spectrophotometrically by measuring janus green absorbance atλmax=554 nm. The calibration graph was linear over the range 0.02–1.0 μg mL−1and the detection limit was 0.016μg mL−1(s/n=3). The throughput was 25 samples per hour.

Abstract A modified Lassaigne method was developed for N determination based on fusion of the organic substance with metallic Na, conversion of the cyanide in the aqueous leachate to thiocyanate by ammonium polysulfide treatment, and colorimetric measurement of the thiocyanate formed by the addition of excessive ferric ions in acidic medium. The mean molar absorptivity of the Fe(NCS)2+ complex at 480 nm is 2.96 × 103 L/mol·cm, enabling quantitation of 0.25–7.72 ppm N (linear range) in the final solution. Three decades ago, dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) emerged as a method for harnessing the energy of the sun and for converting it into electricity. Since then, a lot of work has been devoted to create better global photovoltaic efficiencies and long term stability. Among photosensitizers for DSSCs, thiocyanate-free ruthenium(II) complexes have gained increasing interest due to their better stability compared to conventional thiocyanate-based complexes, such as benchmark dyes N719 and Z907. In this mini-review, two classes of thiocyanate-free Ru(II) complexes are presented: (a) bis-bipyridyl

Results show that the thiourea, potassium thiocyanate, and hexamethylenetetramine have good inhibition effect for mild steel in 5% HF solution, especially potassium thiocyanate and thiourea. Their corrosion resistance was greatly enhanced in the presence of tested inhibitor. Thiourea is an anodic type inhibitor and its inhibition efficiencies up to 99.88% can be obtaine

Melon, a member of the family Cucurbitaceae, is the fourth most important fruit in the world market and, on a volume basis, is Brazil’s main fresh fruit export. Many molecular techniques used to understand the maturation of these fruits require high concentrations of highly purified RNA. However, melons are rich in polyphenolic compounds and polysaccharides, which interfere with RNA extraction. This study aimed to determine the most appropriate method for total RNA extraction from melon fruits. Six extraction buffers were tested: T1) guanidine thiocyanate/phenol/chloroform; T2) sodium azide/?-
