Abstract:
Trametes is a globally distributed genus of white-rot polypores and well sampled in temperate and boreal areas. However, the diversity, taxonomy, and phylogenetic positions of Trametes spp. are poorly known in tropical Africa. This study aims at documenting the diversity of Trametes species in Benin (tropical Africa) and their phylogenetic positions with a focus on the T. elegans species complex. Therefore, we collected specimens of Trametes from different forest types across Benin. To infer phylogenetic relationships between Trametes species, we investigated sequences of five gene regions and

Abstract:
The emergence of microfungi medicinal applications represents a turnover in the drug discovery field. These microfungi species are found in rotten woods and leaf litters collected from forests and reserves in some tropical countries during rainy seasons. Among these species is Trametes elegans, which shares a commensalism-based relationship with the host (plants), offering protection against external invasions. Thus, Trametes elegans possesses unique compositional values and gained tremendous interest in the last decade for its promising applications, such as inhibiting a wide range of bacteri

Mushrooms are an important natural source of food and medicine. In the Philippines, only a few studies have been conducted on the diversity of mushrooms especially in the mountainous areas. The present study was conducted to document the species of macrofungi found in Paracelis, Mountain Province. The knowledge gained from this study can reveal their importance to the community. A total of 37 macrofungi belonging to 16 families, 26 genera, and 29 species were collected and identified. Twenty nine of the collected macrofungi were identified up to its species level and eight were only identified

Abstract:
The rapid rise of antimicrobial resistance is a worldwide problem. This has necessitated the need to search for new antimicrobial agents. Mushrooms are rich sources of potential antimicrobial agents. This study investigated the antimicrobial properties of methanol extracts of Trametes gibbosa, Trametes elegans, Schizophyllum commune, and Volvariella volvacea. Agar well diffusion, broth microdilution, and time-kill kinetic assays were used to determine the antimicrobial activity of the extracts against selected test organisms. Preliminary mycochemical screening revealed the presence of tannins,

Abstract:
Porophila Dybas was so far represented by four nominal species distributed in USA (Oregon) and the Russian Far East (Primorsky Krai). The first Afrotropical species, P. chakalaka sp. n. is described, based on specimens collected in the western region of Republic of South Africa. The new species is associated with fruiting bodies of the Polyporaceae fungus Lenzites elegans (Spreng.) Pat. (= Trametes elegans (Spreng.) Fr.). Morphological structures of P. chakalaka are illustrated in detail, and host fungus associations of Porophila species are summarized.

Mushrooms are known to be sources of food and bioactive compounds with medicinal properties. In this study, the mineral, proximate, amino acid and antimicrobial properties of a wild macrofungus, Trametes elegans was investigated. Standard methods were used to evaluate the mineral, proximate and amino acid content of raw and fermented T.elegans. By soaking in methanol and acetone, extracts from the macrofungus’s powdered fruiting bodies were obtained. Using common microbiological methods, the macrofungus extracts’ antimicrobial activity was assessed on test isolates. In addition, isolation and
