Abstract:
Neste trabalho se descreve a implementação de um protótipo de sistema de hipertexto, construído sobre o sistema de banco de dados ZIM, para uso na análise de requisitos de sistemas de informações de escritórios. Inicialmente, são apresentadas as principais características dos sistemas de hipertexto, destacando-se o hibridismo entre banco de dados, esquemas de representação e interfaces. Comenta-se a funcionalidade, aplicações, vantagens e desvantagens de hipertextos. A seguir, são mencionados diversos trabalhos apresentados na literatura universal, relacionados com hipertexto. Também são feitos comentários sobre diversos sistemas, acadêmicos, experimentais ou comerciais, citados na literatura. O protótipo de hipertexto foi implementado sobre a versão 3.11G, para MS-DOS, do sistema de banco de dados ZIM, em ambiente PC-XT, stand-alone. ZIM é um sistema de banco de dados baseado no modelo Entidade-Relacionamento. Possui uma Linguagem de Desenvolvimento de Aplicações completa, incluindo a definição e o tratamento de formulários. Possui um dicionário de dados totalmente integrado e permite o desenvolvimento e a adaptação progressiva das mais complexas estruturas de informação. O protótipo de hipertexto foi construído visando a coleta e a organização de informações exclusivamente textuais, através da interação do usuário com o computador, direcionadas para a análise de requisitos de sistemas de informação de escritórios. No modelo proposto se destacam os principais conjuntos de entidades utilizados: nodos e textos, links, autores, tipos de nodos e tipos de links. Os nodos e textos contêm as informações textuais e de controle que caracterizam a rede do hipertexto. Seu conteúdo é exibido dentro de janelas que são apresentadas na tela de vídeo. Os links armazenam as informações que relacionam os nodos entre si. São inseridos no texto, diferenciados visualmente do restante do texto, através de ícones. Quando ativados, as links permitem a navegação de um texto para outro. 0 conjunto de entidades "autores" contém informações sobre os usuários do sistema: administradores, escritores ou leitores. O sistema controla a autoria de nodos e links, garantindo ao autor do objeto sua modificação ou remoção. O sistema permite que um autor edite o texto, preservando os links que estiverem associados. Na dissertação também são comentados os principais atributos e operações dos objetos do sistema: autores, nodos e textos, links, tipos de nodos e tipos de links, janelas e ancoras ou ícones. This dissertation describes the implementation of a prototype of hypertext system. It was constructed on the basis of the ZIM database system, for use in information systems requirement analysis. The work presents the most important features of hypertext systems, emphasizing the hibridism of database, representation scheme and interface modality. It also comments on their functions, applications, advantages and disadvantages. It mentions many works, presented on the universal literature, related with hypertext. It also comments various academic, experimental and commercial systems, mentioned on the literature. The hypertext prototype was implemented using the version 3.11G of the -LIM database system for MS-DOS, on the basis of a PC-XT environment. ZIM is a database system based on the Entity- Relationship model. It has a full Application Development Language, with the provision for definition and treatment of customized forms. It has a fully integrated data dictionary and allows the progressive development or adaptation of the most complex information structures. The prototype of hypertext was constructed for interactivelly collecting and organizing textual information, in the information systems requirement analysis. In the proposed model, the main entity sets are "nodes" and "texts", "links", "authors", "node types" and "link types". The nodes and texts contain the textual and control information, that characterize the nodes of the hypertext net Their contents are presented inside of windows, in the screen. The links store the informations that connect the nodes. They are inserted in the text by icons, visiblely differentiated to the remaining text. When they are activated, the links allow the navigation for a text to another. The "authors" entity set contains informations of the users: administrators, writers and readers. The hypertext system controls authorship of the nodes and links, specially for the modification and deletion of the objects. The system allows that the author edits their texts, preserving the associated links. This dissertation comments the main attributes and operations for the hypertext objects, like authors, nodes and texts, links, node types and link types, windows and anchors or icons. It comments the relationship between the nodes and windows, and between icons and links. It also mentions the use and examples of the nodes types and links types.

Abstract:
Neuropsychology as a discipline has not taken root in low- and middle-income countries. Most neurocognitive tests used in these countries were developed and normed in high-income, mostly western countries. The psychometric robustness of these tests is often weak when they are used on low to middle-income clinical populations. The objectives of this study were to select, adapt and generate normative data for a suitable neurocognitive screen for use in Zimbabwe. To achieve these objectives, we divided the study into 4 phases. In Phase 1 of the study, we did a systematic review that identified 83 neurocognitive assessment instruments commonly used in low- and middle-income countries on patients who have suffered a stroke. From these instruments, we selected, adapted and normed the Birmingham Cognitive Screen (BCoS; Humphreys al., 2012) through phases 2 to 4 of this study. The screen offers a robust and sufficiently broad but shallow assessment tool for cognitive deficits across key cognitive domains commonly impaired following a stroke. In particular, in Phase 2 of the study, we evaluated the cross-cultural sensitivity of BCoS on healthy participants (N=105). We then performed surveys using the Delphi method on a panel of experts to culturally adapt BCoS for use in Zimbabwe (Zim-BCoS). We evaluated the inter-rater and test-retest reliability of the translated and validated Zim-BCoS and also compared its agreement with the original BCoS version to determine its robustness. In Phase 3, we evaluated the effects of demographic variables on performance on the cognitive domains assessed by Zim-BCoS. To do this, we performed multiple linear regression analyses to calculate regression-based norms using scores from a sample of healthy participants (N=412). From these analyses, participants' age, level of education and sex had significant effects, mainly on subtests in the language cognitive domain (Picture Naming, Sentence/Word Reading/Writing and Instruction Comprehension). In Phase 4 of the study, we performed neurocognitive assessments using Zim-BCoS (and other tests) to assess and determine the frequency of specific neurocognitive deficits in patients who had suffered a stroke and were attending two major hospitals in Harare, Zimbabwe's capital city (N=103). We also compared the performance of these patients to a matched control sample (N=103). To determine the psychometric stability of Zim-BCoS we determined its validity and reliability by comparing scores on its subtests to parallel neurocognitive tests that assess similar cognitive domains. We also assessed the predictive value of Zim-BCoS on patients' neuropsychiatric and functional outcomes. We evaluated the convergence and predictive validity as well as the inclusivity of Zim-BCoS to assess patients with aphasia. We used the Zim-BCoS test scores to establish prevalence rates of cognitive deficits and other post-stroke sequelae in the sample of patients with stroke. We also assessed the predictive value of ZimBCoS subtests on patients' neuropsychiatric and functional outcomes. All comparisons of ZimBCoS against standard cognitive tests and post-stroke sequelae measures had statistically significant convergence, predictive validity and inclusivity. In this study, we demonstrated the utility of Zim-BCoS for assessing cognitive impairment in patients who have suffered a stroke, particularly in resource poor contexts typical of low-income countries. We concluded that ZimBCoS is a robust neuropsychological screen suitable for research and clinical use in Zimbabwe. The screen has the potential to offer a cost effective and easy to use neurocognitive screen for patients with acquired neurological changes in low-income countries in Southern Africa.

Abstract:
The purpose of this project was to investigate if retention of polar compounds that are given to treat tuberculosis, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease and childhood leukemia could be obtained with HILIC separation. By varying different parameters for different types of columns the compounds were analyzed with the aim of finding guidelines for future method optimizations. To perform these analyzes three different columns were tested – ZIC-HILIC (silica-based with zwitterions), ZIC-pHILIC (polymer-based with zwitterions) and XBridge Amide (amide functions). The results were evaluated with selected quality measures. The parameters being varied were pH, temperature, flow rate, type of buffer and ionic strength. In addition, comparisons between isocratic and gradient separations were performed.   Over 1 000 analyzes were conducted in which retention of 16 of total 18 substances were successfully obtained with HILIC. The columns that generated the best results in terms of greatest number of identified compounds were ZIC-HILIC and XBridge Amide. ZIC-pHILIC offered a wide pH range but generally gave inferior chromatography. The influence of the different parameters on the results has not been investigated in sufficient scope. This means that no specific methods for the different drug groups can be reported.

Abstract:
Les fibroblastes associés au cancer (cancer-associated fibroblasts, CAF) sont des chefs d’orchestre du microenvironnement tumoral (stroma) de l'adénocarcinome canalaire pancréatique (AP). L'hétérogénéité du stroma pourrait expliquer les rôles physiopathologiques non univoques (pro- vs. anti-tumoraux) du stroma de l’AP. Nous avons émis l'hypothèse qu'il existe plusieurs sous-types de CAFs dans l’AP qui contribuent à l'hétérogénéité du stroma notamment par leurs interactions avec les cellules tumorales et immunitaires.Ce projet s’est décomposé en trois parties :- Dans la première partie, en appliquant des analyses bioinformatiques étendues et un large éventail de tests in vitro à des cultures primaires de CAF dérivées d’AP, nous avons démontré la diversité biologique des CAFs pancréatiques humains; nous avons identifié quatre sous-types de CAFs avec des caractéristiques moléculaires et fonctionnelles spécifiques (signatures liées à la matrice et au système immunitaire, expression de vimentine et d’actine musculaire lisse, activité proliférative), et nous avons montré que l'hétérogénéité des CAFs avait un impact sur les interactions avec les cellules tumorales dans des modèles organotypiques.- Dans la deuxième partie, nous avons montré que les sous-types de CAFs et leurs combinaisons étaient associés à des caractéristiques phénotypiques distinctes des tumeurs (sous-type moléculaire et grade, abondance et activité du stroma, infiltrats immunitaires, angiogenèse) et à la survie des patients, in silico dans les données publiques de l'ICGC et par immunohistochimie dans une cohorte de patients bien caractérisés.- Dans la troisième partie, nous avons montré que plusieurs sous-types de CAFs peuvent émerger in vitro (expériences avec des milieux conditionnés) et in vivo (xénogreffes orthotopiques) à partir des cellules stellaires pancréatiques suite à leurs interactions dynamiques avec les cellules tumorales, par un processus d'«empreinte», modulé ensuite par d'autres facteurs et/ou partenaires cellulaires dans le microenvironnement tumoral; par ailleurs, nous avons confirmé dans un contexte murin nos résultats sur l'association entre l'expression des marqueurs de sous-types de CAFs et le phénotype immunitaire observé dans les tumeurs humaines. Cette classification unique des CAFs pancréatiques humains (pCAFassigner) démontre l'hétérogénéité phénotypique inter- et intra-tumorale des CAFs dans l’AP. Nos résultats ouvrent la voie à de futures études fonctionnelles et au développement de thérapies ciblant spécifiquement certaines sous-populations de CAFs dans l’AP
Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAF) are orchestrators of the pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) microenvironment. Stromal heterogeneity may explain differential pathophysiological roles of the stroma (pro- vs. anti-tumoral) in PDAC. We hypothesised that multiple CAF subtypes exist in PDAC that contribute to stromal heterogeneity through interactions with cancer and immune cells. This project comprised three parts:- In Part 1, by applying extended bioinformatics analysis and a wide range of in vitro assays to human PDAC-derived primary CAF cultures, we demonstrated the biological diversity of human pancreatic CAFs; we identified four CAF subtypes (A-D) with specific molecular and functional features (matrix- and immune-related signatures, vimentin and ?-smooth muscle actin expression, proliferation rate), and we showed that CAF heterogeneity had an impact on the interactions with cancer cells in mini-organotypic models.- In Part 2, we showed that the combination of CAF sub-populations was associated with distinct phenotypic characteristics of the tumours (tumour molecular subtype and grade, stromal abundance and activity, immune infiltrates, angiogenesis) and patient survival, in silico in the ICGC dataset and by immunohistochemistry in an extensively characterised patient cohort.- In Part 3, we showed that several CAF subtypes may emerge in vitro (conditioned media experiments) and in vivo (orthotopic xenografts) from the dynamic interactions of pancreatic stellate cells with cancer cells, through an “imprinting” process, and may be further modulated by other factors and/or cellular partners in the tumour microenvironment; in addition, we confirmed in a murine setting our findings about the association between CAF subtype marker expression and immune phenotype observed in human tumours.This unique classification for pancreatic CAFs (pCAFassigner) demonstrates the inter- and intra-tumoral phenotypic heterogeneity of CAFs in human PDAC. Our results provide a framework for future functional studies and pave the way for the development of therapies targeting specific CAF sub-populations in PDAC

Abstract:
Les thrombopénies héréditaires sont une classe de maladies hématologiques congénitaux affectant principalement la lignée mégacaryocytaire. Elle s’accompagnant d'une diminution du nombre de plaquettes. Près de 50 gènes différents ont été associés à des thrombopénies héréditaires, et d'énormes différences existent entre chaque maladie, en ce qui concerne la manifestation clinique et la pathobiologie. Mes recherches ont porté sur deux thrombopénies héréditaires différentes: Filaminopathie A et THC2. La première maladie est un syndrome X-linked, associé à des mutations dans le gène FLNA (Filamine A). Ces patients, sur le point de vue hématologique, présentent une macrothrombopénie associée à une tendance à saigner toute la vie. La seconde maladie est transmise selon une mécanisme autosomale dominante, et elle est provoquée par des mutations dans le 5’ UTR du gène ANKRD26. Les patients montre une dysmégacaryopoïèse, une thrombopénie et un risque accru de développer des tumeurs malignes myéloïdes. Pour étudier la physiopathologie de ces deux maladies rares, j'ai exploité la technologie des cellules souches pluripotentes induites, pour développer plusieurs lignées cellulaires spécifiques au patient. Ces outils expérimentaux ont permis la compréhension de la physiopathologie pour les deux maladies, et m'ont permis de décrire en grand détail les mécanismes moléculaires sous-tendant le defaut de la formation de proplaquettes pour la Filaminopatie A, et la prédisposition à la leucémie pour la THC2. Pour effectuer de telles études, nous avons conçu un protocole de différenciation robuste, récapitulant efficacement la différenciation hématopoïetique et facilement adapté à la différenciation in vitro des plusieurs lignées cellulaires. En plus, nous avons exploité une technique de modification du génome pour introduire efficacement différents mutants, afin de disséquer le rôle moléculaire de la FLNa dans la mégacaryopoïèse.En ce qui concerne la filaminopathie A, nous avons pu décrire une relation originale entre une intégrine membranaire (IIb3), la Filamine A et une voie de signalization curciale (RhoA) pour la mégacaryopoïèse. Nos données supportent un modèle où l’absence de la FLNa induit une activité anormale de la voie RhoA, en réponse au lien entre l'intégrine IIb3 et le fibrinogène. Concernant la THC2, nous avons décrit un nouveau mécanisme associant l'augmentation de l'expression de ANKRD26 à une activité dérégulée de la voie de signalisation dépendante du G-CSF. Cette anomalie affecte la granulopoïèse et conduit à une amplification anormale de cette lignée cellulaire, augmentant éventuellement le risque d'acquisition d'autres mutations et de progression vers une leucémie myéloïde.En conclusion, avec ce travail, nous offrons une preuve de concept de la potentialité de cellules souches pluripotentes induites pour la modélisation de maladies. Nos résultats ouvrent la voie à d'autres études susceptibles de faire progresser notre compréhension de la physiopathologie des troubles plaquettaires héréditaires
Inherited thrombocytopenias are a class of congenital haematological disorders affecting primarily the megakaryocytic lineage and accomunated by a decrease in platelet numbers. Almost 50 different genes have been associated to inherited platelet disorders, and huge differences exist between each disorder, in regard to clinical manifestation and pathobiology. My research interest have been focused on two different congenital thrombocytopenias: Filaminopathy A and Thrombocytopenia 2. The first disease is a X-linked syndrome associated to mutations in the gene FLNA (Filamin A), and patients display a mild to severe macrothrombocytopenia, associated with a lifelong bleeding tendency. The second disorder is an automal dominant condition caused by mutations in the 5’ UTR of the ANKRD26 gene. It is associated with dysmegakaryopoiesis, mild to severe thrombocytopenia and an increased risk to develop myeloid malignancies. To study the physiopathology of those two rare diseases, we have exploited the induced pluripotent stem cell technology to develop several patient specific cell lines. Those experimental tools revealed invaluable for the understanding of the disease physiopathology, and allowed us to describe in great details the molecular mechanisms underlying the reduction in proplatelet formation for Filaminopathy A and the predisposition to leukemia for Thrombocytopenia 2. To perform such studies, we devised a robust differentiation protocol, recapitulating efficiently the haematopoietic differentiation and easily adapted to the in vitro differentiation of multiple cell lineages. Furthermore, we exploited a genome editing technique to introduce efficiently different protein mutants, in order to dissect the molecular role of Filamin A in megakaryopoiesis. In regard of Filaminopathy A, we have been able to describe an original and novel relationship between a membrane integrin (IIb3), Filamin A and a crucial signalling pathway (RhoA) for megakaryopoiesis. Our data support a model where the absence of FLNa induces an abnormal activity of the RhoA pathway, in response to the integrin IIb3 binding to fibrinogen. Concerning the thrombocytopenia 2, we described a novel mechanism that associated the increased expression of ANKRD26 to a deregulated activity of the G-CSF-dependent signalling pathway. This anomaly impacts the normal granulopoiesis and lead to an abnormal amplification of this cell lineage, possibly increasing the risk of acquiring other mutational hits and progress towards a myeloid malignancy.In conclusion, with this work we offer a proof of concept of the potentiality of disease modeling via induced pluripotent stem cells. Our results pave the way for further studies that could advance our understanding of the physiopathology of inherited platelet disorders

Abstract:
Le choc hémorragique est à l’origine de 50 % des décès après un traumatisme grave. Dans ce contexte d’urgence, les objectifs hémodynamiques reposent uniquement sur le maintien d’une cible de pression artérielle basse. Les recommandations européennes sur la prise en charge des traumatisés graves hémorragiques conseillent un niveau de 80 à 90 mmHg de pression artérielle systolique jusqu’au contrôle complet du saignement et 80 mmHg de pression artérielle moyenne en cas de traumatisme crânien grave associé. Cependant, il manque actuellement des données sur la relation entre le niveau de pression artérielle, la microcirculation et l’oxygénation tissulaire. Dans un modèle d’étude de la microcirculation villositaire intestinale chez la souris, nous avons observé une relation linéaire entre la pression artérielle moyenne, la pO2 intestinale et la microcirculation intestinale. Un niveau de pression artérielle moyenne <60 mmHg était associé à une altération microcirculatoire et à la survenue d’une hypoxie intestinale. La réanimation initiale du choc hémorragique consiste prioritairement en l’administration de remplissage vasculaire. De la noradrénaline est fréquemment associée précocement de manière à limiter la dilution. Le maintien d’objectifs hémodynamiques stricts dans ce contexte d’urgence où de nombreuses tâches doivent être réalisées en même temps est complexe. L’administration de noradrénaline nécessite une certaine expertise pour cibler des objectifs de pression artérielle étroits. Dans la suite de notre travail, nous avons développé et testé un système de réanimation automatisée en boucle fermée guidée sur la pression artérielle dans des modèles de choc hémorragique. Le système de réanimation automatisée contrôlait le remplissage vasculaire ou l’association remplissage vasculaire et noradrénaline. Dans ces études, la performance de la réanimation automatisée était excellente, au minimum similaire à celle d’un médecin spécialisé
Hemorrhagic shock is responsible for 50 % of the deaths after severe trauma. In this emergency context, hemodynamic goals are based solely on maintaining a low blood pressure. European guidelines on the management of major bleeding after trauma recommend targeting a systolic arterial pressure goal of 80-90 mmHg while hemorrhage is not stopped yet and of 80 mmHg of mean arterial pressure in case of severe head injury. However, data on the relationship between blood pressure level, microcirculation and tissue oxygenation are currently missing. In a study model of intestinal villous microcirculation in mice, we observed a linear relationship between mean arterial pressure, intestinal pO2 and intestinal microcirculation. A mean arterial blood pressure level <60 mmHg was associated with microcirculatory impairment and to occurrence of intestinal hypoxia.Fluid guided resuscitation is the cornerstone of early hemorrhagic shock treatment. Norepinephrine is frequently associated with fluid resuscitation to limit dilution. Maintenance of strict hemodynamic objectives in such emergency context where many tasks must be performed at the same time is complex. Norepinephrine administration requires some expertise to target narrow blood pressure goals. In the rest of our work we have developed and tested a closed-loop resuscitation system guided on arterial blood pressure in hemorrhagic shock models. The closed-loop resuscitation system controlled fluid administration alone or a combination of fluid and norepinephrine. In these studies, the performance of closed-loop resuscitation was excellent, at least similar to that of a specialist physician

Cette thèse analyse l’importance de la propagande interne dont la population des Etats-Unis fit l’objet au cours de la Deuxième Guerre Mondiale dans les évolutions qui furent celles de la société américaine au cours du second vingtième siècle. Alors que la génération ayant grandi aux Etats-Unis durant la Grande Dépression puis servi sous une forme ou une autre l’effort national durant la Deuxième Guerre Mondiale aura par la suite tenu le premier rôle dans quelques unes des étapes les plus marquantes de l’histoire américaine de la seconde moitié du XXème siècle, lui valant le surnom de « Greatest Generation », il ne peut qu’apparaître intéressant de s’interroger sur l’influence qu’auront pu avoir les messages auxquels cette population a été exposée tout au long d’une guerre qui fut aussi, plus en tout cas que toute autre jusqu’alors, celle des images, mais aussi de s’intéresser aux racines historiques et culturelles de ces mêmes messages. Cette étude est axée sur trois angles principaux : tout d’abord, les représentations de l’altérité (ennemi, alliés comme victimes civiles du conflit) auprès de la population américaine, la construction de l’image des autres acteurs de ce conflit revêtant une importance toute particulière dans le contexte des Etats-Unis de l’époque où l’isolationnisme restait un courant de pensée important. Ensuite, la construction de messages communicationnels liant les images des soldats américains mobilisés au front et celle du « front intérieur » et plus précisément la façon dont l’une et l’autre s’entremêlèrent. Enfin, les rapports entre les messages propagandistes de l’époque et un certain nombre de questions sociales, notamment la façon dont ces messages ne promouvaient pas uniquement l’utilité de l’effort du moment mais laissaient aussi entrevoir une nouvelle société pour l’après-guerre, évidemment conditionnée par la victoire
This PhD dissertation analyses how the homefront propaganda the United States population was subjected to during the Second World War was important in shaping the evolutions the American society went through during the second half of the twentieth century. As the generations which had grown up in the US during the Great Depression then participated in a way or another to the national effort during World War II led the country through some of its most important historical milestones in the latter half of the century, prompting the “Greatest Generation” nickname, analyzing the influence of the messages these populations were subjected to during the war as well as considering the historical and cultural roots of these messages appear particularly both interesting and important, especially as this war was, more than any other was before, a war of images.This study develops three main angles. First, the way other populations (enemies, allies but also the civilian victims of the war) were represented to the American people, as constructing such images was all the more important in a context where isolationism still played an important role. Then, the way an imagery linking the soldiers “over there” at the front to the home front was built, and how both themes coexisted in many messages. Finally, the way propaganda messages of the time were linked not only with the then-present sacrifices but also with hints at a new society in the post-war period – provided of course the war was won

Abstract:
Neste trabalho, foram depositadas sobre lâminas de silício camadas de zeólitos cristalinos, formados por cadeias de átomos de zinco e bases conjugadas do imidazol (ZIF: Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework), com o objetivo de avaliar os processos de adsorção e absorção do CO2 e aplicar essas camadas como pré-concentradores para a detecção de CO2. Para a deposição das camadas ZIF através dos processos Spinning e casting, foi proposta uma solução química alternativa que emprega etanol como solvente em vez de metanol como reportado na literatura, a fim de proporcionar um processo menos tóxico ao ser humano e viabilizar o armazenamento de CO2 para aplicações envolvendo não apenas a sua detecção mas também a sua remoção do ambiente. As camadas ZIF foram depositadas utilizando uma solução obtida a partir da mistura de nitrato de zinco (4,3g) e 2-metilimidazol (9,7g) em etanol com diversas diluições com a finalidade de variar o pH na faixa de 7,2 a 8,2. Como resultado, verificou-se que as camadas obtidas apresentaram estrutura cristalina ZIF-8 ou ZIF-90 apenas na situação de pH próximo de 7. Além disso, as camadas depositadas através da técnica Spinning apresentaram baixa aderência sobre lâminas de silício e não foi possível depositar camadas com espessuras na faixa de micrômetros. Por outro lado, camadas repetitivas com aproximadamente 7, 5µm de espessura foram depositadas nas lâminas de silício através do processo casting em solução de pH = 7,2 (50ml). Após o recozimento dessas camadas na temperatura de 150 ºC por 48h em ambiente de nitrogênio ultrapuro, obtiveram-se distribuições repetitivas de nanocristais com tamanhos na faixa de 5 a 400nm e estrutura cristalina tipo ZIF-90. Das medidas de espectroscopia IR nas camadas de ZIF-90, observou-se que a banda localizada em 2337cm-1 intensifica com o aumento da pressão do CO2 e com o tempo em que a pressão é mantida. Além da banda em 2337cm-1, foi observada uma segunda banda em 2360cm-1, indicando dois diferentes tipos de resposta: (i) a banda em 2337cm-1 foi associada a uma porção substancial de moléculas de CO2 absorvidas dentro da camada junto aos contornos dos nanocristais ou dentro da sua estrutura cristalina, e (ii) a banda em 2360cm-1 foi atribuída à porção de moléculas de CO2 adsorvidas na superfície. Além disso, se o tempo de exposição da camada de ZIF-90 ao CO2, na pressão atmosférica for de pelomenos 2h, atinge-se sensibilidade de 100ppm ao CO2, considerando a leitura mínima de absorbância como sendo igual a 0,02 para 0,5 l/min de CO2 fluindo sobre a amostra.
In this work, layers of crystalline zeolites formed by chains of zinc atoms and conjugate bases of the imidazole (ZIF: zeolitic Imidazolate Framework) were deposited to evaluate the desorption and absorption of CO2 and apply these layers as pre-concentrators for CO2 detection. For the deposition of ZIF layers by means of spinning or casting, it was proposed an alternative chemical solution which employs ethanol as solvent instead of methanol, as reported in the literature, to provide a less toxic process to humans and allow one the CO2 storage applications involving not just detection but also its removal from the environment. The ZIF layers were deposited using a solution prepared from a mixture of zinc nitrate (4.3g) and 2-methylimidazole (9.7g) with several dilutions in ethanol to vary the pH in the range of 7.2 to 8.2. As a result, the crystalline structure of the layers was ZIF-8 or ZIF-90 only for pH next to 7. Furthermore, the layers deposited by spinning showed low adhesion to the silicon wafers and it was not possible to deposit layers for thickness in the micrometer range. Moreover, repetitive layers of approximately 7.5µm in thickness were deposited on the silicon wafers by casting for pH = 7.2 (50ml). After annealing these layers at a temperature of 150 ºC for 48h in ultra-pure nitrogen, it was obtained repetitive nanocrystals with size distributions in the range of 5 to 400 nm having a ZIF-90 crystal structure. From infrared (IR) measurements of the ZIF-90 layers, it was observed a band located at 2337cm-1 that increases with the increase of the CO2 pressure and with the exposure time to this pressure. In addition to the band at 2337cm-1, it was observed a second band at 2360cm-1 indicating two different responses: (i) the band at 2337cm-1 is related to a substantial portion of the CO2 molecules absorbed into the layer along the contours of the nanocrystals or within the crystal structure and (ii) the band at 2360cm-1 is related to the portion of CO2 molecules adsorbed on the surface. Also, if the ZIF-90 layer is exposed to CO2 at atmospheric pressure for at least 2h, a 100ppm sensitivity to CO2 is achieved considering the minimum absorbance as being 0.02 when 0.5 l/min of CO2 is flowing on the sample.

Les réseaux zéolithiques à base d'imidazolate (e.g. ZIF-8) sont des matériaux membranaires attractifs pour la séparation de gaz, sous réserve de pouvoir disposer de membranes de haute qualité, stables et reproductibles sur des supports industriels. Dans ce travail plusieurs stratégies ont été examinées pour développer des membranes nanocomposites à base de ZIF-8 confiné dans les macropores de supports céramiques tubulaires. Trois approches ont été comparées: i) croissance de germes, ii) croissance in situ et iii) conversion de ZnO. L'influence des paramètres de synthèse (formulation des solutions de précurseurs, température & durée de réaction, type de support & prétraitement…) sur les caractéristiques et performances des membranes a été étudiée. Le protocole optimum retenu repose sur la conversion solvothermale de couches minces de ZnO déposées par ALD sur les grains du support. Zeolitic Imidazolate Frameworks (e.g. ZIF-8) are attractive membrane materials for gas separation, provided that high quality, stable and reproducible membranes can be prepared on industrial supports. In this work several strategies were investigated in order to develop nanocomposite ZIF-8 based membranes confined in the macropores of tubular ceramic supports. Three approaches were compared: i) seeded growth, ii) in situ growth and iii) ZnO conversion. The influence of synthesis parameters (precursor solution formulation, reaction temperature & duration, support type & pre-treatment…) on membrane characteristics and performance were studied. The selected optimum protocol was based on the solvothermal conversion, using a 2-methylimidazole/methanol solution, of a ZnO thin layer uniformly deposited by Atomic Layer Deposition on the grains of a ceramic support. The nanocomposite ZIF-8/ZnO/α-Al2O3 membranes exhibited enhanced selectivities for the separation of H2-containing gas mixtures

The minimization of the emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the atmosphere has been one of the great goals in the area of environmental protection. Among the possible processes to treat the NOx, the selective catalytic reduction of NO with hydrocarbons (SCR-HC) has presented important expectations. For this process, the metal/ZSM-5 type catalysts have appropriate levels of conversion in oxidative conditions. In this context, the aim of this work was to prepare Cu, Co and FeZSM-5 catalysts. The samples were characterized by XRD, DRS-UVVIS, FTIR, H2-TPR, SEM and tested in the reduction of NO to N2 with propane or methane in oxidative atmosphere in the presence or absence of water steam. The H2-TPR data showed that the cationic species present in the prepared Cu, Co and FeZSM-5 catalysts, after thermal activation, were mainly Cu2+ (Cuα 2+ e Cuβ 2+), Co2+ and Fe3+ cations located in charge compensation sites in the zeolite, respectively. From FTIR and DRS-UVVIS it was also possible identify oxide species, which were present in a lower content. In the reduction of NO to N2 in the absence of water steam, the CuZSM-5 catalysts showed higher levels of conversion of NO than those based in Co and Fe. However, the FeZSM-5 catalysts showed, in this condition, activity at lower temperatures. This behavior makes them potentially interesting to be applied for practical purposes. On the other hand, in the presence of water steam, it was verified a higher loss of activity of the CuZSM-5 catalyst, which was totally restored removing the water in the feed. For the Co and FeZSM-5 catalysts, the activity loss in the presence of water steam was partially recovered during time on stream.
A minimização das emissões de óxidos de nitrogênio (NOx) na atmosfera tem sido um dos grandes desafios da área de proteção ambiental. Dentre os processos para o tratamento dos NOx possíveis, a redução catalítica seletiva do NO com hidrocarbonetos (RCS-HC) vem apresentando excelentes perspectivas. Para este processo os catalisadores metal/zeólita ZSM-5 possuem adequados níveis de conversão em condições oxidantes. Dentro deste contexto, este trabalho teve como objetivo preparar catalisadores Cu, Co e FeZSM-5. As amostras foram caracterizadas por DRX, DRS-UVVIS, FTIR, RTP-H2, MEV e sua atividade verificada através da redução de NO a N2 com propano ou metano em atmosfera oxidante, na presença ou ausência de vapor de água. Os resultados de RTP-H2 mostraram que as espécies presentes nos catalisadores Cu, Co e FeZSM-5, após ativação térmica, foram principalmente os cátions Cu2+ (Cuα 2+ e Cuβ 2+), Co2+ e Fe3+ compensando carga na zeólita, respectivamente. A partir de FTIR e DRS-UVVIS foi possível, também, identificar espécies oxidas, as quais estavam presentes em teores menores. Na redução de NO a N2 na ausência de vapor de água os catalisadores CuZSM-5 apresentaram maiores conversões de NO que os contendo Fe ou Co. Entretanto, os catalisadores FeZSM-5 apresentaram, nessa condição, atividade em temperaturas menores, o que mostra uma vantagem para o seu uso prático. Na presença de vapor de água, verificou-se uma maior queda da atividade no catalisador CuZSM-5, somente recuperada com a retirada desse composto na alimentação, sendo que para os catalisadores CoZSM-5 e FeZSM-5 a perda de atividade foi parcialmente recuperada ao longo do tempo.

Abstract:
I Sverige finns 21 000 broar som Trafikverket förvaltar (Trafikverket, 2018a). Två brotyper som finns är rambro och balkbro. Rambron är en av de vanligaste brotyperna och är uppbyggd som en fast inspänd konstruktion. Brosystemet kallas plattrambro eller balkrambro beroende på om balkarna eller plattan är det bärande elementet. Om bron istället är fritt upplagd på stödkonstruktionen, kallas brosystemet för plattbro eller balkbro (Vägverket, 1996). ZIP-balksbron är uppbyggd som en balkbro med en modell liknande omvända T-balkar som läggs fläns mot fläns. Brosystemet kommer ursprungligen från Spanbeton i Holland och gjorde under år 2019 premiär på den svenska marknaden med ett projekt i Härnösand. Bron har en spännvidd på 20,55 meter bestående av nio ZIP-balkar. Balkarna prefabriceras på Strängbetongs fabrik i Långviksmon utanför Härnösand. Projektet blev klart under hösten 2019. Syfte och mål med examensarbetet var att undersöka skillnader mellan ZIP-balksbron och en traditionell exemplifierad plattrambro. Aspekterna som undersöktes var underhållet hos de två brotyperna, materialåtgång av betong och armering, last av trafik samt att det gjordes en utvärdering av projektet. Resultatet visar att ZIP-balksbron kräver mer underhåll än en plattrambro eftersom balkbroar har övergångskonstruktion och brolager. Den tar även mer tid att inspektera då den innehåller manhål. ZIP-balksbron använder sig av 29,38 % mindre betong på en meter. Armeringsdifferensen mellan broarna är försumbart. Momentet av den vertikala respektive horisontella lasten av trafik är 44,5 % respektive 19,2 % större hos ZIP-balksbron jämfört med plattrambron. Resultatet visar även på ett bra utfört brobygge som kan hänvisas i brolösningen, samt nöjda parter från flera håll. Slutsatsen är att plattrambron är mer fördelaktig att använda ur ett underhållsperspektiv, en balkbro kräver betydligt större underhåll än de driftåtgärder som årligen sker på broar. Men, genom arbetets bevisning använder ZIP-balksbron mindre betong än hos en traditionell plattrambro och har en enkel byggprocess, vilket ökar förtroendet för brolösningen och framförallt för prefabricering inom brobranschen. Trots att brotypen kräver ett större underhåll samt en ökad och mer komplex momentfördelning än hos en plattrambro, kan säkerheten under byggtiden vara en avgörande aspekt vid val av brobyggen i framtiden.
The ZIP-beam bridge is constructed as a beam bridge with inverted T-beams placed with flanges next to each other. The bridge system is originally from Spanbeton in Holland and it is having its premiere on the Swedish market during year 2019 with an ongoing project in Härnösand. The bridge span is 20,55 meters consisted with nine ZIP-beams. The project was finished in august 2019.  The purpose and goal were to examine differences between the ZIP-beam bridge and a traditional slab frame bridge. The aspects to examine was maintence, use of concrete and reinforcement and traffic loads.  The results show that the ZIP-beam bridge requires more maintenance than the slab frame bridge. The ZIP-beam bridge uses 29,38 % less concrete per metre. The use of reinforcement is negligible. The moment force of the horisontal and vertical traffic loads is 44,5 % respective 19,2 % larger at the ZIP-beam bridge. The conclusion of this paper shows that even though the ZIP-beam bridge requires more maintenance and a more complex moment force than a slab frame bridge, the safety during the building time as well as the less amount of concrete used can be a conclusive factor when building bridges in Sweden in the future.

Abstract:
Los transformadores, junto con los generadores, son los equipos más importantes de las redes eléctricas. Sería inimaginable transmitir energía eléctrica a grandes distancias sin estos equipos, ya que con ellos podremos transformar un nivel de tensión a otro superior para así disminuir las corrientes, y por consiguiente atenuar las pérdidas en la transmisión de dicha energía. Bastaría instalar otro transformador cerca de los consumidores, para poder así trabajar con tensiones más bajas que nos permitan tener equipos con menos aislamientos (por lo tanto, más económicos), y trabajar con más seguridad. Si una red no está adecuadamente planificada, una falla en un transformador puede dejar desabastecida de energía eléctrica a una zona o toda una ciudad, dependiendo de la capacidad e importancia de esta. Por ello se justifica la necesidad de estudiar las contingencias que pudieran ocurrir en la puesta en servicio y operación de los transformadores de potencia. Estas contingencias obligan que el transformador sea diseñado con características dieléctricas, térmicas y electrodinámicas superiores a las que se tienen en condiciones normales de operación (tensiones y corrientes nominales).

A incorporação do metal nióbio em peneiras moleculares microporosas promove novas propriedades a esses materiais. Nesse sentido, foram preparados catalisadores suportados com 2 - 25 % em massa de óxido de nióbio(V) sobre zeólita ZSM-5 de duas fontes: Zeolyst e FCC/Petrobrás. A natureza do metal tem um papel importante na alteração da distribuição e força dos sítios ácidos na superfície do suporte. As amostras foram submetidas a um estudo térmico a fim de otimizar parâmetros e evitar uma possível redução das propriedades ácidas do catalisador por desidroxilação. Os catalisadores modificados, Nb(x)HZSM-5, foram caracterizados através da combinação de métodos térmicos (TG, DTA, DSC) e espectroscópicos (FT-IR e FT-Raman e IR-DRIFT), bem como de RMN-MAS de 29 vi Si e 27Al e CP/MAS de 29Si, DRX, ICP-AES e medidas de área superficial específica (método BET), visando a obtenção de informações estruturais e de estabilidade dos sólidos. As propriedades catalíticas foram verificadas com auxílio das reações modelo de dessulfurização do tiofeno e esterificação do ácido oléico. Para monitorar o rendimento desses processos, foram utilizadas as técnicas de FRX e RMN 1H. Resultados de RMN e DRX indicaram que a estrutura da zeólita contendo Nb não sofreu desaluminização após tratamento térmico, explicada pela presença da unidade Si-O-Nb na estrutura das zeólitas por espectroscopia de FT-IR e Raman. Análises térmicas comfirmaram que a impregnação de NbO25 reduziu a desidroxilação da zeólita ZSM-5, promovendo uma estabilização térmica. A área BET e o volume de poro diminuem gradualmente nesses sólidos com o aumento da quantidade de Nb após calcinação. Outrossim, investigou-se a natureza dos sítios ativos pelo método de pré-adsorção de uma base, utilizando piridina como molécula prova. Bandas de absorção de piridina no infravermelho referentes a sítios ácidos de Brönsted e de ligação de hidrogênio foram observadas para os sistemas derivados de ZSM-5 da Zeolyst. Nos sistemas Nb(x)HZSM-5 derivados da FCC/Petrobrás foram observados, além dos dois sítios citados, uma pequena fração de sítios ácidos de Lewis. Isto justifica a maior acidez apresentada nas zeólitas impregnadas com 2 e 5 % de NbO25, quando comparadas às suas correspondentes amostras da Zeolyst, independente da calcinação. As análises de FRX indicaram que a adsorção de tiofeno sobre os catalisadores modificados foi bem superior (quase o dobro nas amostras derivadas da Petrobrás) ao do catalisador de partida, destacando maior interação do organossulfurado quando o catalisador contém 5 % de NbO25, e observando uma queda a partir de 15 %, sendo explicado pelo excesso da monocamada do óxido, conforme DRX e FT-Raman. A presença do cobre também exerce influência sobre a eficiência do processo de dessulfurização, otimizando-o. Finalmente, foi mostrado que entre as amostras modificadas, a melhor conversão na esterificação do ácido oléico ocorre com Nb(5)HZSM-5, corroborando com os resultados da dessulfurização, embora o catalisador sem Nb tenha apresentado maior atividade catlítica nas mesmas condições. __________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
Incorporation of niobium into microporous molecular sieves brings up new properties for these materials. Supported catalysts containing 2 - 25 wt.% of niobium oxide were prepared over ZSM-5 from two manufacturers: Zeolyst e FCC/Petrobrás. The metal nature has a fundamental role in the changes of distribution and strength of acid sites on the original support surface. The samples were subjected to thermal studies optimizing parameters to avoid a possible reduction of acid properties by dehydroxylation. The modified catalysts, Nb(x)HZSM-5, were characterized by the combination of thermal (TG, DTA, DSC) and spectroscopic (FT-IR, FT-Raman and IR-DRIFT) methods, besides 29 viiSi and 2729Al MAS and Si CP-MAS NMR, XRD, ICP-AES and measurements of specific surface area (BET method) in order to obtain structural and stability information about the solids. Catalytic properties were verified through model reactions of thiophene desulfurization and oleic acid esterification. XRF and 1H NMR were used to monitor yields. NMR and XRD results showed that the zeolite structure containing Nb did not undergo dealumination after thermal treatment, according to the presence of Si-O-Nb units on the zeolites structure by FT-IR and Raman studies. Thermal analyses confirm that the impregnation of NbO25 reduces ZSM-5 dehydroxylation, thus promoting a thermal stabilization. BET method for Zeolyst ZSM-5 indicated that area and pore volume decreased with the increase of Nb on the calcined samples. In addition, it was investigated the nature of active sites by pre adsorption of pyridine. Infrared pyridine absorption bands related to Brönsted and hydrogen bond acid site types were observed for Zeolyst ZSM-5 systems. For the systems Nb(x)HZSM-5 using HZSM-5 from FCC/Petrobrás it was observed, besides the two abovementioned acid sites, a small faction of Lewis acid sites. This justifies the higher acidity showed by 2 and 5 wt.% NbO25 impregnated on zeolite, when compared to the Zeolyst samples, independent of calcination procedure. XRF analyses indicated that the thiophene adsorption over modified catalysts was improved in relation to the parent catalyst, emphasizing higher interaction of organosulfur compound when the catalyst has 5 wt.% of NbO25. It was observed a decrease for 15 wt.% explained by excess of oxide monolayer, according to XRD and FT-Raman results. Copper presence also affects the efficiency of desufurization process, optimizing it. Finally, it was showed that among the modified samples, the better conversion of oleic acid esterification occurs to Nb(5)HZSM-5 in agreement to desulfurization results, although the parent catalyst has showed higher catalytic activity at same conditions.

Actualmente, en nuestro país, la presencia de Flúor en agua potable en cantidades que sobrepasa la indicada por la NOM-127-SSA1-1994 (0.7 ppm) es una problemática que se debe abordar y solucionar de manera inmediata, debido a los efectos nocivos que el Flúor en grandes concentraciones puede ocasionar en distintos tejidos del organismo y de manera particular sobre el sistema nervioso, además, de padecimientos denominados fluorosis dental y fluorosis esquelética. A pesar de que en México se han registrado casos en donde la concentración de flúor en el agua destinada al consumo humano se encuentra entre 1.1 ppm y 6.8 ppm, no existen suficientes estudios sobre tal problemática, además, de que según se menciona en la normativa sobre consumo de flúor vigente, la población no debe consumir sal fluorada si el agua presenta estas condiciones. Ante tal problemática, existen numerosos estudios que proponen la utilización de distintos materiales o tecnologías para la remoción de fluoruros que se encuentran en el agua potable, pero sin embargo el costo o la poca capacidad para implementarlos a gran escala no ha permitido la viabilidad de su uso. En este proyecto se propone un método de remoción de fluoruros implementando una membrana de ZIF-67 soportada en alfa-alúmina como medio adsorbente. Las estructuras ZIF por sus siglas en inglés (Zeolitic Imidazolate Frameworks), se encuentran catalogadas como una subclase de los MOF (metal organic frameworks) y se caracterizan por estar formadas por iones metálicos como Zn, Co, Cd, entre otros, por sus ángulos de formación muy parecidos a los formados en las zeolitas minerales, su estabilidad química y en el caso del ZIF-67 la nula reacción con el agua. Para la evaluación de la capacidad de absorción, se utilizaron diluciones con concentraciones de 150, 200 y 250 ppm de Fluoruro de Sodio (NaF) en agua desionizada. Poniendo en contacto el agua con la membrana de ZIF-67 en un sistema continuo conformado por una celda de permeación y un depósito para la muestra problema, la cual se mantuvo en reflujo durante 90 min. Finalmente se evaluaron las concentraciones finales en el agua que pasó a través de la membrana utilizando la técnica de potenciometría de ion selectivo. Una de las principales ventajas del uso de estos materiales para la remoción de iones de flúor del agua es su vida útil y la facilidad que ofrece para su reúso

This research explored different catalytic cracking zeolite additives to improve propylene selectivity and minimize dry gas yield. A comprehensive study of the effect of zeolite structure, pore system and crystal size on maximizing propylene production in FCC unit and the effect of post synthetic modifications on the physicochemical properties and cracking activity of ZSM-5 was investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), pyridine adsorption fourier transform infra-red (FTIR), 27Al and 29Si magic-angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (MAS NMR) and the catalytic cracking using n-heptane, as a model compound for heavy naphtha. The catalytic performances of these additives were evaluated in a fixed-bed reactor unit using n-heptane as a model compound for naphtha at temperatures 450 - 500 oC and W/F 38 - 92 gcat.h/mol. A range of zeolites were tested with ZSM-5 showing the optimum results at high feed conversion. Further studies on ZSM-5 crystal size illustrated that nano ZSM-5 (300 nm) was superior compared to the regular ZSM-5 (2000 - 4000 nm) in achieved conversion level and propylene selectivity. These improvements were attributed to the shorter path lengths for the reactant reducing diffusion constraints significantly. Modifying nano ZSM-5 acidity using steaming, acid leaching and silanation showed significant improvement over nano ZSM-5 parent. Mild steaming of nano ZSM-5 improved both n-heptane conversion and propylene selectivity whilst severe steaming only improved propylene selectivity. This work attempted to address the often discussed catalytic activity enhancement from mild steaming and identified newly created moderate acid sites as the source of increased activity. Dealumination by acid leaching decreased the total aluminium content of nano ZSM-5 and changed the Brønsted/Lewis ratio. Increasing the B/L ratio, increased the conversion and propylene selectivity. In addition, this research focussed for the first time on the silanation of nano ZSM-5 and its effect on n-heptane cracking, in particular, propylene and dry gas selectivity. Silica was deposited on the external surface of nano ZSM-5 neutralising the acidic sites and as a result, dry gas yield was significantly decreased due to the elimination of non-selective cracking. However, the trade off with conversion was high.

INTRODUCTION: HIV disease is thought to be cluster in specific areas rather than be evenly distributed. A study to show a significantly higher HIV risk in certain geographical areas would be beneficial for resource allocation purposes. AIM: The purpose of this study is to describe the demographics of the study population, describe the demographics of those participants that tested HIV-positive, and determine the associations between zip code of residence, HIV infection, and risky behavior. METHODS: Data were collected by Georgia State University’s Center of Excellence for Health Disparities Research for The Geography Project. Univariate and multivariate binary logistic regression analyses were performed on select variables. A p-value of < 0.05 and a 95% confidence interval (CI) were used to determine significance. RESULTS: Participants in high risk groups zip codes were roughly 6.7 times more likely to have been given an HIV-positive result prior to the survey (OR=6.717, CI=1.989-22.683, p=.000), 4.4 times more likely to have been infected with HIV at the time of the survey (OR=4.402, CI=2.109-9.187, p=.000), and 1.4 times more likely to have more than 3 sex contacts in the 6 months prior to the survey (OR=1.425, CI=1.075-1.890, p=.014). The association between HIV and persons that identify as transgender was extremely significant (OR= 28.335, CI=8.305-96.678, p=.000). DISCUSSION: The results indicated that participants in the high risk zip codes group were at a higher risk for HIV infection and having 3 or more sex contacts in the 6 months prior to the interview.

This master’s thesis was conducted at the Department of Nanotechnology and Functional Materials at Ångström Laboratory as part of an on-going project to develop hybrid nanocomposites from Cladophora cellulose and a sub-type of metal-organic frameworks; zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs). By utilizing a state-of-the-art interfacial synthesis approach, in-situ growth of ZIF particles on the cellulose could be achieved. TEMPO-mediated oxidation was diligently used to achieve cellulose nanofibers with carboxylate groups on their surfaces. These were ion-exchanged to promote growth of ZIF particles in a nanocellulose solution and lastly, metal ions and organic linkers which the ZIFs are composed of were added to the surface functionalized and ion-exchanged nanocellulose solution to promote ZIF growth. By vacuum filtration, mechanical pressing and furnace drying; freestanding nanopapers were obtained. A core-shell morphology between the nanocellulose and ZIF crystals was desired and by adjusting the metal ion concentration, a change in morphologies was expected. The nanocomposites were investigated with several relevant analytical tools to confirm presence, attachment and in-situ growth of ZIF crystal particles upon the surface of the fine nanocellulose fibers. Both the CNF@ZIF-67 and CNF@ZIF-8 nanocomposites were successfully prepared as nanopapers with superior surface areas and thermal properties compared to pure TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanopapers. The CNF@ZIFs showcased hierarchical porosities, stemming from the micro- and mesoporous ZIFs and nanocellulose, respectively. Also, it was demonstrated that CNF@ZIF-8 selectively adsorbed CO2 over N2. Partial formation of core-shell structure could be obtained, although a relationship between increased metal ions and ZIF particle morphology could not wholly be observed.

Dans certains cas, la compréhension des phénomènes encontrés au cours de ce processus nécessitait un travail de rationalisation. Ce dernier ingrédient permet une réelle amélioration continue, ou une conception sur mesure d'un catalyseur pour une réaction. Les zéolithes sont des aluminosilicates, microporeux et cristallins, qui se définissent et se différencient de part leur arrangement 3D de tétraèdres (SiO4 et AlO4) . Il a été essayé d'utiliser des zéolithes conçues sur mesures en tant que catalyseurs pour des réactions faisant partie d'une chimie renouvelable. Ainsi, ces travaux s'inscrivent dans le cadre des concepts de la chimie verte et de l'addition graduelle de complexité moléculaire. Au cours de cette thèse, la boucle itéative de l'amélioration continue a mené à deux reprises à un catalyseur très adapté au processus catalytique en question: d'une part l'halogènation d'aromatiques a été effectuée en phase liquide, il s'agit d'un procédé liquide-solide pour lequel le meilleur catalyseur résulte en une zéolithe béta (H-*BEA) avec une porosité hiérarchisée. Au contraire, la réaction de la conversion du méthanol en oléfines (MTO) une réaction gas-solide semble avoir comme catalyse uroptimal des zéolithes de type ZSM-5 sans porosité hierarchisée, mais ayant des tailles cristallines élevées, une qualité cristalline proche de la perfection (sans défauts) et une densité de sites acides très disperses
This work revolved around the synthesis, characterisation and application of zeolites in heterogeneous catalysis. In some cases, counterintuitive observations and results needed a thorough rationalisation, which allowed a truly continuous improvement, or rational design of a catalyst for a given reaction. Zeolites are crystalline and microporous aluminosilicates, which are defined and differ one from another through their 3D arrangement of tetrahedra (SiO4 and AlO4).It has been aimed to design heterogeneous catalysts for reactions that fit in the concepts of a sustainable chemistry. Thus, this works describes and tried to respect the concepts of green chemistry and carbon upgrading. Remarkably, during this thesis the feedback looped continuous improvement approach has led twice to adapted catalysts for a catalytic chemical transformation: the liquid-solid continuous flow halogenation of aromatics was best performed with nanosized H-*BEA zeolites exhibiting a hierarchical porosity. In contrast, the gas-solid Methanol-to-Olefins (MTO) process needed an unusual catalyst. Indeed based on our study, large and perfectly crystalline H-ZSM-5 crystals with a disperse Brønsted acidity were the optimum catalyst

Les travaux de cette thèse concernent la compréhension à l'échelle atomique des processus physico chimiques intervenant aux interfaces et dans des phases diluées. Pour commencer, nous avons étudié l'interaction entre la molécule 1,4-diazabicyclo [2.2.2]octane (DABCO) et un atome de gaz rare (He, Ne, Ar, Kr). Nous avons effectué une analyse systématique de ces systèmes, et nous en avons conclu que la méthode MP2 associée à une base diffuse est suffisamment précise pour décrire le système DABCO – Ar. Les surfaces d'énergie potentielle des complexes DABCO – gaz rare ont été calculées, ce qui nous a permis de réattribuer les spectres expérimentaux de ces espèces. Ensuite, nous nous sommes concentré sur les complexes DABCO – Arn (avec n = 2, 3, 4) neutres et ioniques. Nous avons montré que le DABCO interagi avec les atomes d'argon, et subit des déformations dues à l'effet de cette interaction faible sur ses modes de vibration. Par la suite, nous avons étudié les plus bas états électroniques du DABCO – Arn (n = 1, 2, 3). Nos résultats pourront être étendus à l'interprétation qualitative des études spectroscopiques et dynamiques des molécules de DABCO absorbés dans de grands agrégats d'argon. Enfin, nous avons étudié l'interaction entre l'imidazole et une couche d'or en présence de CO2. Nous avons montré que la molécule d'imidazole se fixe à l'agrégat d'or par une liaison covalente entre l'atome d'azote et un atome d'or, ainsi que des interactions faibles de type van der Waals entre les atomes d'hydrogène et la surface d'or. Nous avons déterminé que le site préférentiel pour l'interaction imidazole – or est le site top. Cette interaction permet un transfert de charge de l'imidazole vers la surface d'or, ce qui affecte la capture du CO2 (environ 50% plus faible par rapport à l'interaction Im(seule) – CO2). Mais l'augmentation du nombre de molécules d'imidazole à la surface de la couche d'or pourrait permettre une liaison plus forte entre le CO2 et l'imidazole
This thesis concern the understanding at the atomic level of physicochemical processes occurring at interfaces and dilute phases. First, we studied the interaction between the 1,4- diazabicyclo [2.2.2] octane (DABCO) molecule and a rare gas atom (He, Ne, Ar, Kr). We conducted a systematic analysis of these complexes, and we concluded that the MP2 method with a diffuse basis set is accurate to describe the system DABCO – Ar. The potential energy surfaces of DABCO – rare gas complexes were calculated, which allowed us to reatribuate the experimental spectra of these species. Then, we focused on DABCO – Arn (n = 2, 3, 4) neutral and ionic clusters. We have shown that the DABCO interacted with argon atoms and undergoes deformation due to the effect of the weak interaction on his vibrational modes. Subsequently, we studied the lowest electronic states of DABCO – Arn (n = 1, 2, 3). Our results can be extended to the qualitative interpretation of spectroscopic and dynamic studies of absorbed DABCO in large argon clusters. Finally, we studied the interaction between imidazole and a gold surface with CO2. We have shown that the imidazole molecule binds to the gold surface by a covalent bond between the nitrogen atom and a gold atom, and van der Waals interactions between hydrogen atoms and the gold surface. We determined that the preferred site for the imidazole – gold interaction is the top site. This interaction allows a charge transfer from the imidazole to the gold surface, which affects the capture of CO2 (about 50% lower compared to the interaction Im – CO2). But increase number of imidazole molecules on the gold surface could lead to a stronger bond between CO2 and imidazole

O estudo da expressão circadiana de genes de relógio tem sugerido hormônios como potenciais agentes sincronizadores. A regulação da ritmicidade de relógios periféricos é, aparentemente, mais um dentre os diferentes efeitos fisiológicos atribuídos aos glicocorticoides (GCs), que se constituem como candidatos a zeitgeber dado ao fato de que seus níveis circulantes apresentam padrões diários robustos e são uma das principais eferências do relógio central em mamíferos. Entretanto, em outros vertebrados, o papel dessa classe hormonal em relação a este aspecto ainda é pouco explorado e se a regulação é direta ou indireta, quais suas consequências e de que maneira ela ocorre são indagações a serem respondidas. Empregando a técnica do PCR quantitativo, avaliamos o perfil de expressão dos genes da alça negativa do núcleo da maquinaria molecular do relógio, per1b e cry1b, em células ZEM-2S do teleósteo Danio rerio expostas ao regime fotoperiódico 12:12 CE ou mantidas em escuro constante (EE) e mantidas em EE, mas condicionadas a trocas diárias de meio de cultura ou a pulsos diários de dexametasona a 10-7 M (DEXA), agonista sintético de glicocorticoide. Em 12:12 CE, ambos os genes apresentaram variação temporal, com picos de expressão observados na fase clara do ciclo. Em EE, per1b mostrou um perfil oscilatório de amplitude atenuada, enquanto para cry1b, não foi detectada oscilação ao longo das 24 h. Trocas de meio em EE alteraram significativamente o padrão de expressão de per1b e cry1b, no entanto, os pulsos diários de DEXA promoveram uma oscilação temporal muito mais pronunciada para per1b, modulando positiva ou negativamente sua expressão nos diferentes pontos temporais. O emprego do antagonista RU 486 na concentração de 10-5 M aboliu o pico de expressão detectado no ZT 16, porém, na concentração de 10-6 M, a expressão gênica foi aumentada em cerca de 3 vezes comparado ao tratamento apenas com DEXA. O gene cry1b, por sua vez, não se apresentou suscetível aos pulsos diários de DEXA. Estes resultados permitem confirmar as células ZEM-2S como modelo de relógios periféricos em cultura dada a fotossensibilidade intrínseca das mesmas, reafirmando o papel do ciclo CE como principal agente sincronizador. Os glicocorticoides certamente exercem modulação de per1b por meio da via genômica direta, sem, no entanto excluir uma possível ação via receptor de membrana, tendo em vista a atividade agonista de RU 486, podendo se constituir em um dos fatores que regulam o complexo funcionamento da maquinaria molecular do relógio biológico de zebrafish
Studies on the circadian expression of clock genes have suggested hormones as potential synchronizing agents. Regulation of rhythmicity of peripheral clocks is among the various physiological effects of glucocorticoids (GCs), which are candidate to zeitgeber, since their circulating levels present robust daily patterns and are one of the major outputs of the mammalian central pacemaker. However, in other vertebrates, such a feature has yet to be clarified as well as if the hormonal regulation is direct or indirect, what are its mechanisms and consequences. Applying qPCR technique, we evaluated the gene expression profile of per1b and cry1b, negative feedback loop members of the molecular machinery of biological clock, in ZEM-2S cells of the teleost Danio rerio. The cells were exposed to photoperiod regimen of 12:12 LD; kept in constant darkness (DD); kept in DD but subject to medium changes or treated with daily pulses of 10-7 M dexamethasone (10-7 M DEXA), a glucocorticoid synthetic analogue. In 12:12 LD, both genes presented temporal variation, with peaks of expression in the light phase. In DD, per1b showed an oscillatory profile with attenuated amplitude, whereas cry1b did not oscillate throughout 24 h. DEXA-free medium changes in constant DD conditions altered significantly per1b and cry1b expression profiles. Nevertheless, DEXA daily pulses promoted a temporal oscillation much more pronounced for per1b, modulating positively or negatively its expression at different time points, whereas cry1b was not susceptible to the hormone. RU 486 at 10-5 M abolished the peak of expression of per1b previously observed at ZT 16. On the other hand, RU 486 at 10-6 M increased the gene expression around 3-fold in comparison to just DEXA treatment. These results confirm ZEM-2S cells as a model of peripheral clocks in culture due to their intrinsec photosensitivity, emphasizing the light/dark cycle as a major synchronizing agent. The glucocorticoid modulates per1b expression, probably through a direct genomic pathway, without excluding however its possible action through membrane receptors, since RU 486 exerted agonistic activity. Glucocorticoids could, therefore, be one of the factors that regulate the complex molecular machinery of zebrafish biological clock

Les barrières thermiques, réalisées par projection thermique à la torche à plasma d'arc soufflé et constituées d'une couche céramique de zircone stabilisée notamment à l'yttrine (ZrO2-Y2O3), sont largement utilisées pour protéger les composants des turbines à gaz aéronautiques des dégradations à haute température, de la corrosion et de l'oxydation. Toutefois, ces revêtements se dégradent lors des cycles de fonctionnement. Aussi, il existe une véritable difficulté technologique pour élaborer à un coût modéré des barrières thermiques présentant à la fois de faibles caractéristiques de conductivité et une bonne tenue en service. L'originalité de cette étude est donc de modifier les propriétés de barrières thermiques à base de zircone partiellement stabilisée par un procédé de refusion laser in situ couplant la projection thermique à la refusion par irradiation laser. Au final, le procédé de refusion in situ a permis d'architecturer différemment les dépôts barrières thermiques, et notamment : (i) de substituer à la microstructure lamellaire des dépôts projetés une microstructure dendritique colonnaire plus adaptée aux sollicitations thermomécaniques (augmentation de la résistance aux chocs isothermiques pouvant aller jusqu'au doublement du nombre de cycles) ; (ii) d'obtenir une architecture poreuse moins sensible au frittage, d'où une meilleure conservation des propriétés thermiques et mécaniques du dépôt lors de maintiens à hautes températures ; (iii) d'améliorer les propriétés d'isolation thermique de la barrière thermique, notamment en réduisant la conductivité thermique du dépôt d'environ 30 % ; (iv) de diminuer drastiquement sa perméabilité pour lutter contre l'oxydation et la corrosion ; (v) d'obtenir une phase tétragonale métastable plus stable lors de chocs thermiques ; (vi) de conserver les propriétés élastiques du dépôt (module de Young intrinsèque et apparent)
Yttria partially stabilized zirconia thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) are nowadays widely used to protect components of aero gas turbines against degradation at high temperature, corrosion and oxidation. However, these coatings degrade in service conditions. Therefore, to manufacture TBC which present both low thermal conductivity and high life-time is a real challenge. Engineering the coating architecture by an adapted process is a prerequise to modify TBC characteristics. In this study, laser remelting was combined to thermal spraying in order to modify the TBC properties. The purpose was to adapt TBC characteristics during their manufacturing process, without adding one or even more additional steps. In situ laser treatment (i) changes structure from lamellar to dendritic columnar; (ii) generates a pore architecture less sensitive to sintering, inducing then a best conservation of the thermal and mechanical properties during thermal treatments at high temperatures; (iii) improves the thermal insulation properties of the TBC by decreasing its thermal conductivity of about 30 %; (iv) decreases its permeability in order to diminish oxidation and corrosion phenomena; (v) increases the resistance to isothermal shocks (with the possibility to double the number of cycles); (vi) conducts to a metastable tetragonal phase more stable during thermal shocks; (vii) without modifying elastic response of the deposit

Après avoir effectué une analyse critique des théories de la décision, des différentes conceptions du rôle du dirigeant et des approches concernant l'apprentissage en situation d'action, nous avons choisi d'étudier la décision sous un angle original : au lieu de considérer la capacité à prendre des décisions comme un objectif de formation nous partons de l'hypothèse que, chez les dirigeants, la décision est bien souvent considérée et vécue comme une opportunité d'apprentissage, voire comme une stratégie d'apprentissage insérée elle-même dans une perspective plus large de construction identitaire. Cela situe notre recherche dans l'articulation de deux perspectives, envisageant à la fois la formation dans et par l'action mais aussi à travers la construction de l'identité. Pour tester la validité de notre proposition, une enquête multi-cas a été effectuée par voie d'entretien sur un échantillon de 21 dirigeants, opérationnalisée par une double analyse, qualitative et quantitative. Les résultats révèlent, en particulier, que l'apprentissage décisionnel est rendu possible par l'articulation de 4 facteurs : un contexte organisationnel adéquat, une situation d'action favorable, des modèles de référence et une posture particulière du dirigeant
After having produced a critical analysis of decisional theories, as well as of the different conceptions of the manager's role and approached the learning process in action , we have chosen to study the decision under an original point of view. Instead of considering the capacity to take decision as a training aim, we make the assumption that by the manager, the decision is often considered as an learning opportunity, or as a learning strategy inserted in a wider perspective of identity construction. This places our research within two perspectives, to be considered at the same time : education within the action but also throughout identity construction. To check the validity of our proposal, we have interviewed a panel of 21 managers, finalized by a quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results of the survey reveals particularly that decisional training is possible when 4 factors are present : appropriate organisational context, favourable action situation, reference models and a specific manager attitude

Abstract:
Catalytic degradation of PMMA was successfully performed at temperatures below 300°C. The use of zeolite catalyst could reduce reaction temperature in comparison with an ordinary thermal degradation process. It was found that the product distribution obtained from batch experiment depends on zeolite acid properties whereas the composition of the liquid fraction is directly related to the shape selectivity of the catalyst. A continuous fixed bed process was designed that allowed to obtain MMA monomer as main product. The increase of reaction temperature from 200 to 270°C showed a positive effect on the liquid product yield. However, at higher temperatures, the light product was further cracked into gaseous products. Significant deactivation of ZSM-5 catalyst was observed after 120 hours of operation, resulting in a decrease in liquid product yield. Regeneration of the coked ZSM-5 extrudates was achieved by oxidation with ozone at low temperatures, below 150°C. The effects of temperature, GHSV and inlet concentration of ozone on carbon removal efficiency were studied. Carbon removal with ozone started at 50°C and reached a maximum of 80% at 100°C. Higher temperatures were not beneficial due to the strong limitation of ozone diffusion which confines radical production then the regeneration process to the outer surface. In optimal conditions, ozonation almost fully restored the zeolite activity without damaging the texture and active sites of zeolite, as shown from the results of regenerated catalyst in PMMA cracking

Driven by a host of emerging applications (e.g., sensor networks and wireless video), distributed source coding (i.e., Slepian-Wolf coding, Wyner-Ziv coding and various other forms of multiterminal source coding), has recently become a very active research area. In this thesis, we first design a practical coding scheme for the quadratic Gaussian Wyner-Ziv problem, because in this special case, no rate loss is suffered due to the unavailability of the side information at the encoder. In order to approach the Wyner-Ziv distortion limit D??W Z(R), the trellis coded quantization (TCQ) technique is employed to quantize the source X, and irregular LDPC code is used to implement Slepian-Wolf coding of the quantized source input Q(X) given the side information Y at the decoder. An optimal non-linear estimator is devised at the joint decoder to compute the conditional mean of the source X given the dequantized version of Q(X) and the side information Y . Assuming ideal Slepian-Wolf coding, our scheme performs only 0.2 dB away from the Wyner-Ziv limit D??W Z(R) at high rate, which mirrors the performance of entropy-coded TCQ in classic source coding. Practical designs perform 0.83 dB away from D??W Z(R) at medium rates. With 2-D trellis-coded vector quantization, the performance gap to D??W Z(R) is only 0.66 dB at 1.0 b/s and 0.47 dB at 3.3 b/s. We then extend the proposed Wyner-Ziv coding scheme to the quadratic Gaussian multiterminal source coding problem with two encoders. Both direct and indirect settings of multiterminal source coding are considered. An asymmetric code design containing one classical source coding component and one Wyner-Ziv coding component is first introduced and shown to be able to approach the corner points on the theoretically achievable limits in both settings. To approach any point on the theoretically achievable limits, a second approach based on source splitting is then described. One classical source coding component, two Wyner-Ziv coding components, and a linear estimator are employed in this design. Proofs are provided to show the achievability of any point on the theoretical limits in both settings by assuming that both the source coding and the Wyner-Ziv coding components are optimal. The performance of practical schemes is only 0.15 b/s away from the theoretical limits for the asymmetric approach, and up to 0.30 b/s away from the limits for the source splitting approach.

The use of the adsorption method for separating CO2 is a promising alternative in view of the potential to reduce energy costs by eliminating aqueous solutions and providing capture and regeneration rates adequate. In this context, this paper presents the synthesis of composite type materials ZSM-12 / MCM-41 and ZSM-12 / MCM-48, seeking to combining the properties of the zeolitic material to the structural advantages of mesoporous materials, resulting in obtaining materials with high CO2 adsorption capacity. For this, the materials were synthesized by hydrothermal method and mechanosynthesis. The materials were characterized by XRD, absorption spectroscopy in the infrared, thermal analysis, adsorption-desorption analysis of N2 A 77 K, SEM and TEM. The CO2 adsorption capacity of these materials were investigated by gravimetric analysis. The results obtained from the characterization techniques showed that the synthesis methodology, used for desilication phase of ZSM-12, was efficient in obtaining a composite material with integrated micro and mesoporous phases. On the other hand, the results showed that by mechanosynthesis was possible to obtain materials formed by mixing between the micro and mesoporous phases. Also, comparing the results of adsorption CO2 the obtained composite materials by hydrothermal method with those obtained by mechanosynthesis it was concluded that the adsorption capacity is influenced by crystallinity and amount of the phase ZSM-12. The results showed from adsorption, in general, ZM48-75 samples, ZM41 A/MH R3 and ZM41-50 showed higher adsorption capacity than pure zeolitic and mesoporous materials, respectively. Thus, the composite materials of the type ZSM-12/ZSM-41 and MCM-12/MCM-48 are promising adsorbents for CO2 separation.
O aumento da concentração de dióxido de carbono na atmosfera é apontado como o principal fator responsável pelas mudanças climáticas em escala mundial. Nos últimos anos, várias pesquisas têm por finalidade o desenvolvimento de novos métodos e tecnologias para captura e separação de CO2. A utilização do método de adsorção para separação de CO2 é uma alternativa promissora, tendo em vista o potencial para reduzir os custos energéticos, eliminando soluções aquosas e proporcionando captura e taxa de regeneração adequadas. Nesse contexto, neste trabalho apresenta-se a síntese de materiais compósitos do tipo ZSM-12/MCM-41 e ZSM-12/MCM-48, visando combinar as propriedades do material zeolítico com as vantagens estruturais dos materiais mesoporosos, resultando na obtenção de materiais com elevadas capacidades de adsorção de CO2. Para isto, os materiais foram sintetizados pelo método hidrotérmico e por mecanosíntese. Os materiais obtidos foram caracterizados por DRX, espectroscopia de absorção na região do infravermelho, análise térmica, analise de adsorção-desorção de N2 A 77 K, MEV e TEM. A capacidade de adsorção de CO2 destes materiais foi investigadas através da análise gravimétrica. As técnicas de caracterização mostraram que a metodologia de síntese adotada via dessilicalização da fase ZSM-12 foi satisfatória na obtenção de um material compósito com as fases micro e mesoporosas integradas. Por outro lado, os resultados evidenciaram que através da mecanosíntese foi possível obter materiais formados pela mistura entre as fases micro e mesoporosas. Além disso, comparando-se os resultados de adsorção de CO2 dos materiais compósitos obtidos via método hidrotérmico com os obtidos via mecanosíntese foi possível concluir que a capacidade de adsorção é influenciada pela cristalinidade ou teor da fase ZSM-12. Considerando-se os resultados de adsorção apresentados, de maneira geral, as amostras ZM48-75, ZM41-A/R3-MH e ZM41-50, apresentaram maior capacidade de adsorção que os materiais zeolíticos e mesoporosos puros, respectivamente. Sendo assim, os materiais compósitos do tipo ZSM-12/MCM-41e ZSM-12/MCM-48 são promissores adsorventes para separação de CO2.

Die Nutzung von Kraftstoffen auf der Basis von Biodiesel erlaubt es, konventionelle, etablierte Antriebstechniken mit Nachhaltigkeit zu kombinieren. Daher kann in den nächsten Jahren mit einer weiteren weltweiten Steigerung der Biodieselproduktion gerechnet werden. Damit verbunden ist jedoch auch ein Anstieg der anfallenden Menge an Glycerol, das bei der Herstellung von Biodiesel als Koppelprodukt entsteht. Da traditionelle Märkte für Glycerol kaum mehr Wachstum zeigen, müssen neue Wege zur effizienten Verwertung von Glycerol gefunden werden. Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der heterogen-katalysierten Umsetzung von Glycerol zu Acrolein. Unter Verwendung von ZSM-5-Katalysatorproben mit unterschiedlichem Si/Al-Verhältnis und phosphorsäure-modifizierten Katalysatorproben konnte die Existenz von Synergieeffekten zwischen den texturellen, strukturellen und aciden Eigenschaften in der heterogen-katalysierten Glyceroldehydratisierung zu Gunsten der Acroleinselektivität eindeutig nachgewiesen werden. Eine selektive Umsetzung von Glycerol zu Acrolein wird daher an solchen Katalysatorproben ermöglicht, die ausgewogene texturelle, strukturelle und acide Eigenschaften aufweisen.

Depuis plusieurs années, les MOFs (Metal Organic Frameworks) suscitent une grande attention pour leurs applications potentielles en catalyse hétérogène. Ces matériaux sont également étudiés dans les domaines de la séparation, du stockage de gaz, de la libération contrôlée ou comme systèmes de vectorisation de médicaments. Leur structure complexe étant formée par des centres de coordination métalliques unis par des ligands polydentates, les MOFs disposent de nombreux sites acido-basiques de Lewis ou de Brönsted qui sont cruciaux pour l'activité des matériaux et la sélectivité des produits lors des réactions catalysées par les MOFs. Dans ce travail, nous nous sommes tout particulièrement intéressés à une classe de MOFs appelée « zéolithic imidazolate frameworks » (ZIF-8). Les ZIF-8 présentent de nombreuses propriétés intéressantes, notamment une grande surface spécifique, une faible densité, une forte porosité ainsi qu’une excellente stabilité chimique et thermique. Dans une première partie, la préparation de matériaux ZIF-8 et d’hétérostructures à base ZIF-8 a été développée afin de conférer à ces matériaux des propriétés adaptées à l'application souhaitée. La mise en forme de ces catalyseurs a également été étudiée afin d’obtenir la forme optimale pour une utilisation industrielle de ces matériaux. En variant le précurseur d’ions Zn2+ utilisé pour la synthèse, nous avons démontré que les propriétés (taille, porosité, ...) de ZIF-8 cristaux pouvaient être contrôlées en fonction de l’application catalytique recherchée. Ces ZIF-8 cristaux ont été utilisés avec succès en tant que catalyseurs hétérogènes dans les réactions de Knoevenagel et Friedländer. Nous avons développé de nouveaux matériaux ZIF-8 dopés par des ions Cu2+. Les particules Cu/ZIF-8 se sont montrés être des catalyseurs efficaces dans la réaction de Combes et la cycloaddition de Huisgen. La recyclabilité du matériau a été évaluée et il a notamment été montré que les particules ZIF-8 pouvaient être réutilisées jusqu'à dix fois sans perte d'activité catalytique. Nous avons également fonctionnalisé les cristaux ZIF-8 avec des particules magnétiques Fe3O4. L’hétérostructure hybride Fe3O4@ZIF-8 peut facilement être récupérée par séparation magnétique après les expériences de catalyse. Afin d’étendre le champ d’application des catalyseurs ZIF-8, le matériau a également utilisé pour la conversion du dioxyde de carbone en carbonates cycliques en utilisant un réacteur du Parr. Comme la réaction est d’un grand intérêt industriel, le catalyseur a été mis en forme par compression. Dans la dernière partie de ce mémoire, la toxicité des particules ZIF-8 et ZIF-8 dopé par Cu ou Fe a été évaluée en utilisant des cellules alvéolaires A549 et de la peau IHK comme modèles. La stabilité des particules a été déterminée à l’aide de milieux mimant la digestion des particules in vivo. Les résultats obtenus montrent que les particules sont très sensibles aux variations de pH ainsi qu’aux sels présents dans les différents milieux
Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) have gained considerable attention as heterogeneous catalytic systems and also have been studied in the area of separation, gas storage, controlled release or as drug delivery systems. According to their complex structure formed by metal centers coordinated with polydentate linkers, MOFs expose abundance of Lewis and/or Brönsted acid-base sites that are crucial for the materials catalytic activity and selectivity towards specific reactions. Moreover, these materials have many other attractive properties, including a large surface area, a low density and a high porosity. In this work, we focused on the zeolithic imidazolate framework (ZIF-8) material – a MOF exhibiting high porosity and stability and which can also be used as a template for further functionalization and modification. Firstly, we focused on the preparation of ZIF-8 crystals and ZIF-8 heterostructures with properties adapted to the desired application, and then shaping of the catalyst to obtain the best form of material for industrial scale-up utilization. By varying Zn2+ precursors used for the synthesis, we demonstrated that the properties (size, porosity,…) of ZIF-8 crystals can be controlled and tuned depending on the applications. These ZIF-8 crystals were successfully applied as heterogeneous catalysts in Knoevenagel and Friedländer reactions. Next, we developed protocols for the synthesis of Cu2+-doped ZIF-8 crystals. The use of these crystals could be extended to Cu-mediated reactions, like the Combes condensation and the Huisgen cycloaddition. We evaluated recyclability and we showed that the nanomaterials could be reused up to ten times without any loss of catalytic activity. Moreover, we functionalized ZIF-8 crystals with magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The hybrid Fe3O4@ZIF-8 heterostructures could be easily recovered by magnetic separation after catalytic experiments. To show multiple benefits originating from the ZIF-8 structure and properties, we also used this material for the conversion of CO2 into cyclic carbonates using a Parr reactor. As the reaction could be scale-up at the industrial level, we shaped the powder in the form of pellets and use it under the same conditions. In the last chapter, we evaluated the toxicity and the stability in biological media of ZIF-8, Cu- and Fe-doped ZIF-8 particles using A549 alveolar cells, IHK skin cells as models and in vitro ingestion under fed conditions. These models were chosen according to the most probable first contact entering gates for nanoparticles inside human body, skin, lungs and digestive tract. Outcomes from these preliminary studies motivated us to conduct extended stability tests of the particles in different media. Les nanotubes de carbone (NTC) n'ont eu de cesse, depuis leur (re)-découverte par Sumio Iijima en 1991, de passionner la communauté scientifique. Leurs propriétés électroniques, optiques et mécaniques exceptionnelles en font l'un des matériaux les plus prometteurs dans le domaine des nanotechnologies. Néanmoins, l'utilisation des NTC en microélectronique se heurte à de nombreux problèmes. En particulier, les propriétés électroniques de ces nanotubes sont dépendantes de plusieurs paramètres : leur diamètre, leur organisation et le nombre de feuillets qui le composent. Ainsi, l’obtention de nanotubes exclusivement semiconducteurs (recherchées pour réaliser un dispositif microélectronique tel qu’un transistor) ne peut être garantie par les techniques de synthèse actuelles. Ces techniques (CVD, ablation laser, etc…) ne conduisent en général qu’à un mélange de nanotubes semiconducteurs et métalliques, difficiles à trier.Dans le cas spécifique des nanotubes de carbone « zig-zag », leur comportement électronique n’est défini que par le diamètre. Une synthèse de nanotubes exclusivement « zig-zag » et de diamètres contrôlés apporterait donc une solution définitive à ce problème.La chimie des calixarènes peut apporter des réponses à cette problématique. On utiliserait alors la chimie moléculaire pour former le NTC de façon séquentielle. L’objectif du travail réalisé est d'obtenir une structure de type « zig-zag » avec un diamètre strictement contrôlé par la taille du calixarène de départ.Nous avons abordé plusieurs méthodes de synthèse en fonction du motif de répétition envisagé pour la croissance séquentielle du nanotube de carbone. Dans un premier temps, une stratégie basée sur le motif cyclacène a été utilisée. Les résultats de ces travaux seront présentés dans le chapitre II. Au cours de ce chapitre nous présenterons la synthèse et la fonctionnalisation des calixarènes de départ, en vue de leur utilisation pour des réactions de types Wittig Horner ou Oléfination de Julia.Enfin, au cours du chapitre III, nous présenterons les résultats obtenus par utilisation d’une autre stratégie, basée sur la répétition d’un motif métacyclopolyphénylène. Since their re-discovery in 1991 by Sumio Ijima, carbon nanotubes (CNT’s) have not stopped fascinating the scientific community. Their electronic, optical, and mechanical properties render them one of the most promising materials in the field of nanotechnology. Nevertheless, the use of CNT’s is has been hampered by a number of problems due to the fact that the electronic properties of CNT’s are dependent on several parameters such as diameter, organization and number of sheets that make them up. Because of these factors, obtaining nanotubes that function exclusively as semiconductors (such as those used for fabricating microelectronic devices such as transistors) cannot be guaranteed with the synthetic methods used today. These techniques (CVD, laser ablation, etc) are only capable of yielding a mixture of semiconducting and metallic nanotubes difficult to separate.In the particular case of « zig-zag » nanotubes, their electronic behavior is defined by their diameter. Thus, a synthetic method capable of rendering exclusively « zig-zag » nanotubes with discrete diameters would yield a solution to the problem.Calixarene chemistry can give answers to this problem. Using molecular chemistry in order to form CNT’s in a sequential fashion, the objective of this work will be to obtain exclusively « zig-zag » nanotubes with discrete diameters that are imposed by the size of the calixarene used as a starting block. We have tried several methods for the synthesis of CNT’s depending on the repetition motif used for the sequential growth of the desired carbon nanotube. Firstly, a strategy based on the acene functionality was used. The results of this work are presented in chapter II, where we will describe the synthesis and functionalization of the starting calixarenes used in reaction types such as Wittig Horner and Julia Olefination.Chapter III shows the results obtained using a different strategy based on the repetition of the metacyclopolyphenylene unit. This strategy is based on the reiteration of successive Suzuki coupling reactions catalyzed by palladium complexes

A reação de transformação de MeOH em olefinas leves foi investigada sobre zeólitas HZSM-5 com razões SiO2/Al2O3 (SAR) iguais a 30, 80 e 280. As propriedades ácidas e texturais da amostra com SAR 30 foram modificadas por impregnação com ácido fosfórico. A caracterização físico-química das amostras foi realizada empregando-se as técnicas de FRX, fisissorção de N2, DRX, DTP de NH3 e IV com adsorção de piridina. O desempenho catalítico das mesmas foi comparado tanto em condições reacionais similares (mesma T, pressão parcial de MeOH e WHSV) como em condições de isoconversão. Verificou-se, que quanto maior a SAR da zeólita, menor a densidade total e a força dos sítios ácidos presentes, sendo este efeito mais significativo para os sítios de Brönsted. O efeito do aumento da SAR favoreceu a estabilidade catalítica e a formação de olefinas leves, principalmente propeno. No caso das amostras contendo fósforo, foi observada uma redução linear na área específica BET e no volume de microporos com o aumento do teor de fósforo. Estes resultados, aliados aos obtidos por DRX, sugerem que a redução mais significativa na área específica e no volume de microporos pode ser associada à redução na cristalinidade e à formação de espécies amorfas contendo fósforo, que bloqueariam a estrutura porosa da zeólita. Não se observou alteração significativa na força dos sítios fracos, enquanto a força dos sítios fortes diminuiu significativamente. As amostras apresentando menor SAR e menor teor de fósforo foram mais ativas. Por outro lado, em condições de isoconversão de 916%, a amostra mais seletiva à formação de olefinas foi aquela com maior SAR. Dentre as amostras impregnadas, aquela contendo 4% de fósforo foi a mais seletiva a propeno, enquanto a que continha 6% foi mais seletiva a eteno. A amostra com SAR igual a 280 foi investigada variando-se a temperatura de reação (400, 500 e 540C) e a pressão parcial de metanol (0,038; 0,083 e 0,123 atm), através de um planejamento experimental do tipo Box-Benhnken (32). O rendimento otimizado em olefinas leves foi alcançado a 480C e 0,08 atm. O modelo proposto descreveu bem os dados experimentais e evidenciou a existência de uma faixa ótima de temperatura para maximização do rendimento em propeno e eteno, o qual foi também afetado pela pressão parcial de MeOH na faixa estudada. The MeOH transformation into light olefins was investigated over HZSM-5 zeolites with SiO2/Al2O3 (SAR) = 30, 80 and 280. The acidic and textural properties of the SAR 30 were modified by impregnation with orthophosphoric acid. Textural characterization and physiochemical like FRX, fisisorption of N2, DRX, DTP of NH3 and IR with pyridine adsorption were used. The catalytic performance of the samples evaluated and compared at both isoconversion and iso-operacional. It was verified, that the increase in SAR of the zeolite reduced acid site density and strenght of the acid sites, particularly for the Brönsted acid sites, favoring the catalytic stability and the formation of light olefins, mainly propene. The characterizations indicated a linearr reduction in the specific BET surface area and in the microporous volume with the increase of the phosphorous incorporation. These results, together with over obtained by DRX, suggest that the most significant reduction in the specific area and in the microporos volume can be associated to the reduction in the cristalinity as well as to the formation of amorphous species containing phosphorous, that would block the zeolite porous structure . No significant alteration was observed in the strenght of the weak sites, although the strong acid sites strenght significantly decreased. The low SAR and slow phosphorous incorporation ware more active. On the other hand, at isoconversion conditions (916), the most selective samples to olefins formation were those with high SAR. Among the impregnated samples, the one containing 4% of phosphorous was more selective to olefins. The sample with SAR equal to 280 was investigated under different reaction temperature (400, 500 and 540C) and methanol partial pressure (0,038; 0,083 and 0,123 atm), following Box-Benhnken (32) experimental planning type. The optimized light olefins yield was reached at 480C and 0,08 atm. The proposed model described well the experimental data and evidenced the existence of a range of temperature for maximization of the propene and ethene, which was also affected by the partial pressure of methanol in the studied range.

The growing popularity of video sensor networks and video celluar phones has generated the need for low-complexity and power-efficient multimedia systems that can handle multiple video input and output streams. While standard video coding techniques fail to satisfy these requirements, distributed source coding is a promising technique for ??uplink?? applications. Wyner-Ziv coding refers to lossy source coding with side information at the decoder. Based on recent theoretical result on successive Wyner-Ziv coding, we propose in this thesis a practical layered Wyner-Ziv video codec using the DCT, nested scalar quantizer, and irregular LDPC code based Slepian-Wolf coding (or lossless source coding with side information) for noiseless channel. The DCT is applied as an approximation to the conditional KLT, which makes the components of the transformed block conditionally independent given the side information. NSQ is a binning scheme that facilitates layered bit-plane coding of the bin indices while reducing the bit rate. LDPC code based Slepian-Wolf coding exploits the correlation between the quantized version of the source and the side information to achieve further compression. Different from previous works, an attractive feature of our proposed system is that video encoding is done only once but decoding allowed at many lower bit rates without quality loss. For Wyner-Ziv coding over discrete noisy channels, we present a Wyner-Ziv video codec using IRA codes for Slepian-Wolf coding based on the idea of two equivalent channels. For video streaming applications where the channel is packet based, we apply unequal error protection scheme to the embedded Wyner-Ziv coded video stream to find the optimal source-channel coding trade-off for a target transmission rate over packet erasure channel.

Statkraft är helägt av Norska staten och är Sveriges fjärde största elproducent. Detta examensarbete syftar till att ta fram en metod för att lösa hur Statkraft Sverige AB ska lagra mjukvarubackuper av sina lokalkontrollssystem. För närvarande finns det ingen homogen lagringsmetod för backuper på företaget och problemet som ska lösas i examensarbetet är hur man kan lagra backuper från ett flertal heterogena system på en gemensam lagringsplattform. I och med att de allra flesta hjälpsystem för konfigurering av styrdatorer (PLC) bygger på Microsoft DOS/Windows så är det relativt enkelt att överföra backuper till en gemensam plattform. För äldre hjälpmedel kan man dock tänka sig att virtualisera hjälpmedlen på en nyare PC-dator med exempelvis VMware för att undvika problem som kan uppstå med äldre hårdvara. Därefter kan man arkivera backuperna i ZIP-format som man kan lagra på en server. Fördelen med att använda sig av ZIP för arkivering är att man får en inbyggd integritetskontroll av backuperna då ZIP har inbyggd cyclic redundancy check (CRC) som använder sig av kontrollsummor för att kontrollera så att filerna är korrekta. Dessutom så får man endast en fil i jämförelse med många filer per backup om man inte använder sig av arkivering. Backuperna ska sedan lagras på en server som ligger inom företagets intranät/kontorsnät som endast behörig personal har tillgång till. Uppladdningen av filerna kan gå till på flera olika sätt, större backupfiler från PC-system kan laddas upp direkt via nätverket och dokumentationen uppdateras manuellt. Mindre backupfiler skulle dock kunna laddas upp genom en webbsida på intranätet där dokumentationen uppdateras automatiskt i samband med uppladdning. Lagringsutrymmet för båda dessa lösningar är dock detsamma så det går även att ladda upp mindre backuper manuellt genom nätverket. Med dessa lösningar har berörda tekniker tillgång till backuperna vart de än befinner sig så länge internetuppkoppling finns genom ett virtuellt privat nätverk (VPN) till företagets intranät/kontorsnät.
Statkraft is the fourth largest electricity producer in Sweden and is fully owned by the Norwegian state. This thesis aims to develop a method for solving how Statkraft Sweden AB will store software backups of their local control systems. Currently there is no uniform method of storage for backups in the company and the problem to be solved in the thesis is how to store backups from multiple heterogeneous systems on a single storage platform. Based on the fact that the vast majority of help systems for configuring Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) is based on Microsoft DOS / Windows, it is relatively simple to transfer the backups to a common platform. With older help systems it is also possible to virtualize these help systems on newer PC-based computers with for example VMware instances to avoid issues that can arise with older hardware. You can then archive the backups in ZIP-format that can be stored on a server, the advantage of using ZIP-archiving is to get a built-in integrity check of backups as ZIP has built in cyclic redundancy check (CRC) that uses checksums to check that the files are correct. Additionally, you get only one file in comparison to many files per backup if you do not archive in for example ZIP-format. The backups are then stored on a server within the company intranet / office network that is restricted to authorized personnel. The upload of the files can be done in several different ways; large backup files from PC-systems can be uploaded directly via the network, and the documentation is updated manually. Smaller and incremental backup files could however be uploaded through a web page on the Intranet, where documentation is automatically updated during upload. The storage space for both of these solutions is the same so that it is also possible to upload smaller backups manually through the network. With these solutions, the technicians can access the backups wherever they are as long as an Internet connection is available thru a virtual private network (VPN) Connection to the company’s intranet/office network.

La investigación presente tiene como finalidad identificar y analizar el discurso visual acerca de Arica que despliega la revista Zig-Zag entre 1910 y 1930, como expresión de un agente privado de la sociedad civil y su participación (colaboración) en la chilenización desarrollada por el Estado chileno. El proceso chilenizador comienza en 1883 y su despliegue en los territorios de Tacna y Arica constituyen una compleja red administrativa, política, y sobre todo cultural, convirtiendo la exclusión de la alteridad peruanos y bolivianos, en un eje fundamental de la formación de identidad nacional en el Norte Grande, por parte de un gobierno altamente centralista y bajo un contexto de post Guerra del Pacífico. De este modo, la chilenización se llevó a cabo por diferentes agentes de la sociedad civil, entre estas, cabe destacar las llamadas Ligas Patrióticas, las cuales se encargaron de la expulsión y la violencia material hacia la población peruana residente en Tarapacá. Cuya actuación xenófoba va a marcar de un tono obscuro la política nacional, mientras que los medios de comunicación, especialmente la prensa escrita y revistas ilustradas, van a adherirse de manera discursiva y simbólica a tal proyecto estatal. En definitiva, analizar cómo la retórica visual de la revista participó como agente privado de la sociedad civil en la construcción del discurso chilenizador en Arica. Es decir, interesa identificar la producción del discurso de la revista Zig-Zag con el imaginario chilenizador, dejando de lado su impacto o efectividad real en tal imaginario.

Mélanger un oxyde de gallium avec une zéolithe H-ZSM-5 donne les mêmes résultats catalytiques en craquage du n-hexane, déshydrogénation du cyclohexane et en aromatisation du propane qu'un catalyseur préparer par échange cationique avec un sel de gallium. En fait, le véritable catalyseur est synthétisé lors du prétraitement sous hydrogène pendant lequel le suboxyde de gallium (Ga2O) issu de la réduction de Ga2O3 réagit avec les sites de Brønsted de la zéolithe pour donner des hydrures de gallium. La réaction de déshydrogénation des alcanes fait intervenir un site catalytique bifonctionnel composé d'un site de Lewis du Ga et d'un site basique généré par l'oxygène de la charpente zéolithique. L'activation du propane se produit sur un hydrure de gallium via un mécanisme de type alkyle. Les aluminosilicates dopés avec Ga sont plus performants que les gallosilicates, ce qui signifie que les espèces de gallium sont plus actives en extra-réseau que dans le réseau de la zéolithe.Le coke généré lors de l'aromatisation du propane est très polyaromatique avec plus de quinze noyaux benzéniques, localisé dans les micropores il s'avère très toxique. La création de mésopores intracristallins sans modifier les propriétés acides de la zéolithe (nombre et force des sites acides) est possible par un traitement alcalin. Leur présence permet de limiter les réactions de transfert d'hydrogène mais est peu efficace pour contrôler la croissance du coke, les mésopores sont mêmes négatifs pour la réaction de déshydrogénation rendant les catalyseurs bifonctionnels hiérarchisés inefficaces en aromatisation du propane ; l'étape cinétiquement limitante pour cette réaction étant la déshydrogénation
The mixing Ga2O3 with the H-ZSM-5 zeolite yields to the same catalytic performance in n-hexane cracking, cyclohexane dehydrogenation and propane aromatization than a bifunctional catalyst prepared by cationic exchange. The real catalyst appears upon hydrogen pretreatment in which gallium (Ga2O) suboxide that results from Ga2O3 reduction, reacts with the zeolite Brønsted sites to yield to gallium hydrides.The dehydrogenation reaction of alkanes involves a bifunctional catalytic site constituted of a Lewis site (Ga species) and basic site (an oxygen of the zeolite framework). The aluminosilicate catalysts loaded with Ga are more efficient than the gallosilicate catalysts, therefore extraframework gallium species is more active than the framework gallium species.The coke formed during the propane aromatization is very polyaromatic with more than fifteen benzenic rings, is very toxic. The creation of intracrystalline mesopores by alkaline treatment.preserves the acidic properties of the zeolite (number and strength of acidic sites). The mesopores allow limiting the hydrogen transfer reactions but is not very effective for impeding the growth of the coke, the presence of mesopores are even negative for the dehydrogenation reaction making inefficient the hierarchical bifunctional catalysts in propane aromatization; the kinetically limiting step for this reaction being dehydrogenation

The objective of this study was to verify the influence of the Si/Al ratio (11.5, 15.0, 25.0, 40.0 and 140.0) in zeolite ZSM-5 in the conversion, activity, selectivity and stability as bifunctional catalysts (Pt/H-ZSM-5) applied to the isomerization reaction of n-hexane. To prepare the bifunctional catalysts, initially the zeolites were submitted, successively, to ion exchange with ammonium cations, ion exchange cations with platinum, calcination and activation process. From the results of the isomerization of n-hexane, it was observed that with the increase of the Si/Al ratio, that is, decreasing the amount of aluminum, there was a reduction in activity and conversion. This is due to decrease the number of acid sites present, responsible to isomerize the carbocation generated in these sites. In contrast, the increase of the Si/Al ratio leads to a better selectivity to the formation of isomers. Among the catalysts, the Pt/H-ZSM-5 (15.0) showed the best result of conversion and activity. In order to compare the Pt/H-ZSM-5 catalysts, the reaction was carried out using the isomerization catalyst Pt/H-Beta (9.0). This catalyst had the best result that all the others, this result may possibly be due to increased acidity of the material and its morphological characteristics, such as type and diameter of pores etc. and/or the crystallite size of zeolites used.
O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar a influência da razão Si/Al (11,5, 15,0, 25,0, 40,0 e 140,0) na zeólita ZSM-5 através da conversão, atividade, seletividade e estabilidade de catalisadores bifuncionais (Pt/H-ZSM-5) aplicados a reação de isomerização do n-hexano. Para preparar os catalisadores bifuncionais, inicialmente as zeólitas foram submetidas, sucessivamente, a troca iônica das zeólitas com cátions amônio, troca iônica com cátions platina, processos de calcinação e ativação. A partir dos resultados da isomerização do nhexano observou que com o aumento da razão Si/Al, isto é, diminuição da quantidade de alumínio, obteve-se uma redução na atividade e conversão. Tal fato se deve a diminuição do número de sítios ácidos presentes, sendo que os mesmos são responsáveis por isomerizar os carbocátions gerados nos sítios. Em contrapartida, o aumento da razão Si/Al acarreta em uma melhor seletividade a formação dos isômeros. Dentre os catalisadores Pt/H-ZSM-5, o catalisador Pt/H-ZSM-5 (15,0) foi o que apresentou melhor resultado de atividade e conversão. A fim de comparar os catalisadores Pt/H-ZSM-5, a reação de isomerização do nhexano foi realizada utilizando o catalisador Pt/H-Beta (9,0). O mesmo obteve melhor resultado que todos os outros, podendo tal resultado ser, possivelmente, devido a maior acidez do material e suas características morfológicas, como tipo e diâmetro de poros etc. e/ou pelo tamanho do cristalito das zeólitas utilizadas.

It was studied the catalytic performance of ZSM-12 zeolites modified by desilication in the cracking of naphthenic hydrocarbons. ZSM-12 zeolites with nominal a SiO2/Al2O3 ratio were synthesized during 96 or 144 h under hydrothermal conditions and the obtained zeolites were treated with NaOH solutions under different conditions. The samples were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), N2 physisorption, temperature programmed desorption of ammonia (NH3-TPD), 27Al MAS NMR spectroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and infrared spectroscopy (Py-FTIR). The treatment with NaOH solutions under mild conditions was more effective for the ZSM-12 zeolite synthesized during 96 h. For the HZ12-96-0,2 sample, obtained by treatment at 35 °C with 0.2 mol.L-1 NaOH solution during 15 min, it was verified an increase in the external surface area and the formation of mesopores in the range of 2 to 14 nm. On that zeolite occurred a higher yields to light olefins during the cracking of cyclohexane at 400 °C and also in the cracking of methyl and ethylcyclohexane at 450 °C. This result was mainly related to the higher density of acid sites exhibited by the HZ12-96-0,2 zeolite compared with the parent ZSM-12 one, as consequence of the applied alkaline treatment. It was also verified that the ZSM-12 zeolites modified by more severe alkaline treatment (0.5 or 1.0 mol.L-1 NaOH solution at 80 °C for 30 min) presented significant increase of the external surface area and mesopores volume. The catalytic cracking of cyclohexane, methylcyclohexane and ethylcyclohexane at 500 °C, as well as the physicochemical characteristics of the MZ12-96-0,5 zeolite enhanced the formation of light olefins. The highest yield to light olefins was obtained on that zeolite during the cracking of ethylcyclohexane, which increased 9% when compared with the yield obtained on the not modified HZSM-12 zeolite. The selectivity to light olefins on the studied HZSM-12 zeolites was strongly influenced by presence of a side chain in the naphthenic ring (methyl or ethyl), as well as by the employed cracking operating conditions.
Estudou-se o desempenho de zeólitas ZSM-12 modificadas por dessilicalização no craqueamento de hidrocarbonetos naftênicos. Zeólitas ZSM-12 com razão SiO2/Al2O3 igual a 80 foram sintetizadas em 96 ou 144 h sob condições hidrotérmicas. As zeólitas ZSM-12 obtidas foram modificadas sob diferentes condições de tratamento alcalino com soluções de NaOH e posteriormente caracterizadas por termogravimetria, difratometria de raios X, microscopia eletrônica de varredura, fisissorção de nitrogênio, dessorção de amônia à temperatura programada, ressonância magnética nuclear do 27Al, espectroscopia de energia dispersiva de raios X e espectroscopia na região do infravermelho com adsorção de piridina. O tratamento alcalino, sob condições mais brandas, foi mais efetivo para a zeólita ZSM-12 sintetizada em menor tempo de cristalização (96 h). Para a zeólita HZ12-96-0,2, obtida por tratamento com solução de NaOH 0,2 mol.L-1 a 35 °C por 15 min, verificou-se um aumento na área superficial externa e distribuição de tamanho de mesoporos entre 2 e 14 nm. Nessa zeólita, ocorreu um maior rendimento a olefinas leves no craqueamento de cicloexano a 400 °C e, também, no craqueamento de metil- e etil-cicloexano realizado a 450 °C. Esse resultado foi relacionado, principalmente, com a maior concentração de sítios ácidos na zeólita HZ12- 96-0,2, em relação à zeólita HZSM-12 precursora, como consequência do tratamento alcalino. Verificou-se, também, que as zeólitas ZSM-12 modificadas por tratamento alcalino, sob condições mais severas (solução de NaOH 0,5 ou 1,0 mol.L-1 a 80 °C por 30 min), apresentaram aumento significativo de área superficial externa e volume de mesoporos. O craqueamento de cicloexano, metil- e etil-cicloexano realizado a 500 °C, assim como as características físicas e químicas da zeólita MZ12-96-0,5, favoreceram a formação de olefinas leves. O maior rendimento a olefinas leves ocorreu durante o craqueamento do etil-cicloexano sobre essa zeólita, com aumento desse rendimento em torno de 9% quando comparado ao rendimento obtido sobre a zeólita HZSM-12 não modificada. A seletividade a olefinas leves sobre as zeólitas HZSM-12 preparadas neste estudo sofreu forte influência da presença da cadeia lateral no anel naftênico (metil ou etil), assim como também das condições operacionais de craqueamento empregadas.

Dans cette thèse, nous réalisons en premier lieu une étude comparative qui montre les avantages des turbo-codes non-binaires par rapport aux binaires, dans les domaines du codage canal et de la compression des sources distribuées, et nous implémentons un système de codage distribué vidéo basé sur les turbo-codes quadri-binaires. Nous dérivons ensuite la limite théorique de compression dans le cas du codage source ainsi que dans le cas du codage conjoint source-canal. Cette limite est ensuite utilisée dans le cadre d'une technique d'optimisation inter-couches qui vise à éviter l'usage excessif du canal de retour. Notre système se base alors sur le niveau de mouvement des séquences vidéo et sur l'état du canal de transmission pour déterminer le débit de transmission nécessaire à chaque utilisateur. En se basant sur les résultats obtenus, nous proposons une technique de codage conjoint qui permet d'estimer le débit de transmission de chaque utilisateur ainsi que d'optimiser le choix du paramètre de quantification. Ainsi, nous obtenons un système de codage vidéo distribué avec quantification variable et allocation dynamique du débit. Nous étudions aussi l'influence du codage H.264 des trames clés sur les performances globales du système. Abstract:
Development in multicellular organisms requires a strict balance between cell division and differentiation. The simple architecture of the Arabidopsis thaliana root makes it an ideal model for studying molecular mechanisms controlling both the transition from cell division to cell differentiation and cell fate determination. The class III Homeodomain-Leucine Zipper (HD-ZIP III) transcription factors (TFs) are well known developmental regulators, controlling important aspects of embryogenesis, shoot meristem activity, leaf polarity and vascular patterning. The HD-ZIP III TFs are under post-transcriptional control of microRNA165 (miR165) and miR166. In this thesis, I present a cell-to-cell signalling pathway underlying root vascular patterning and describe signaling pathways downstream of the HD-ZIP III TFs in their control of root development. The TF SHORTROOT (SHR), moves from the vascular stele cells to the surrounding endodermal cell layer. We show that SHR acts here to transcriptionally activate MIR165A and MIR166B, and the miR165/6 produced in the endodermis act non-cell autonomously to post-transcriptionally restrict HD-ZIP III mRNA levels in the peripheral stele. The resulting graded HD-ZIP III activity domain in the radial stele dose-dependently determines vascular cell type; high levels of HD-ZIP III in the central stele result in metaxylem formation while lower levels in the peripheral stele result in protoxylem. We provide evidence that the HD-ZIP III factors act as de novo xylem specifiers, because the quintuple mutant lacking all five HD-ZIP III genes forms no xylem. Furthermore, reducing the plasmodesmatal aperture through callose accumulation inhibits the bi-directional mobility of both signalling molecules, providing evidence that both SHR and miR165/6 move cell-to-cell via plasmodesmata to control root development. I present downstream components of the miR165/HD-ZIP III TFs in the root meristem, identified through a time-course induction of miR165 coupled to transcriptome analyses. This experiment revealed novel roles for HD-ZIP III TFs in vascular patterning and meristem size control. I show that HD-ZIP III directed repression of auxin hormone signalling in the xylem axis is essential for proper xylem differentiation. Furthermore, I provide data to show that they also control the balance of reactive oxygen species in the root meristem, thereby directing meristem size and ultimately controlling root growth.

Abstract:
The objective of this work was to study the effect of supercritical water on coke formed on ZSM-5 during its use as a dodecane cracking catalyst. ZSM-5 coking was quantified at different reaction times, finding that the presence of supercritical water reduced coke formation by an order of magnitude or more. Coked samples were analyzed using several methods, including temperature programmed oxidation (TPO), attenuated total reflectance infrared (ATR-IR) spectroscopy, carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance (13C NMR), diffuse reflectance ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (DR-UV-vis) and UV-Raman. Coked produced in the absence of SCW was formed by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) with more than 4 aromatic rings containing alkyl side chains. Coke produced in the presence of SCW was formed by aromatics with 1 to 3 aromatic rings. The characteristics of coke formed in the absence of water on ZSM-5 that had been pretreated in SCW were intermediate to those of coke formed on fresh ZSM-5 in the presence and absence of water, suggesting that the presence of water influences coke properties. It was also verified that SCW can decrease coke formation due to its effect on Bronsted acidity of the catalyst and ability to promote coke gasification. The effect of coke deposits produced in the presence and absence of SCW on the rate of ethanol dehydration, a model reaction studied under diffusion-controlled conditions, indicated that SCD/SWC coke deactivated less the catalyst than SCD coke.
