This cross-sectional study investigates new comorbidities and new medications after a mild SARS-CoV-2 infection. Data were collected after an acute SARS-CoV-2 infection by online survey in a Lithuanian cohort. Sociodemographic data, SARS-CoV-2-related symptoms, previous and new comorbidities, and medications were analysed. The results of 895 participants (mean age: 44 years) show that 91% were women, 58% had higher education, and 84% were working. Among those, 473 (52.8%) answered being “healthy” before infection; 823 (92%) indicated being positive on diagnostic tests; and 841 (94%) were non-h

IntroductionThis study identified the referral source for urgent short-stay admissions (SSAs) and compared characteristics of children with SSA stratified by different referral sources.MethodsRoutinely acquired data from urgent admissions to Scottish hospitals during 2015–2017 were linked to data held by the three referral sources: emergency department (ED), out-of-hours (OOH) service and general practice (GP).ResultsThere were 171 039 admissions including 92 229 (54%) SSAs. Only 171 (19%) of all of Scotland’s GP practices contributed data. Among the subgroup of 10 588 SSAs where GP data were

Objective This study aims to report a case series of anastomotic femoral pseudoaneurysms (PSA) treated with stent-grafting (SG) in patients at high-risk for the open surgical approach. Methods It is a retrospective, observational cohort study. Between 1 January 2002 and 1 April 2020, post-hoc analysis of the database including patients who received repair for femoral PSA identified those treated with SG. All but one patient were approached through a contralateral percutaneous transfemoral access, and the SG was always deployed from the common femoral artery to the profunda femoris artery. For

They underwent clinical evaluation and laboratory tests on hospital admission and were investigated until death or hospital discharge. A death model risk was purposed based on clinical predictors on hospital admission. Results: A total of 215 patients were enrolled, with 39 deaths. The predictors of risk of mortality were age (relative risk (RR): 3,05 [1.65–5.63]), serum

Background: The obesity epidemic is a significant health concern, affecting nearly a third of all United States citizens according to the 2013-2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Obesity contributes to multiple metabolic and cardiovascular risk factors including diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and dyslipidemia. The atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk calculator is a frequently used tool that aggregates various risk factors to assist physicians in detecting patients that may benefit from statin therapy and risk factor modification. AbstractEighty percent of brain‐dead (BD) organ donors develop hypotension and are frequently hypovolemic. Fluid resuscitation in a BD donor is controversial. We have previously published our 4‐h goal‐directed stroke volume (SV)‐based fluid resuscitation protocol which significantly decreased time on vasopressors and increased transplanting four or more organs. The SV was measured by pulse‐contour analysis (PCA) or an esophageal doppler monitor, both of which are invasive. Thoracic bioreactance (BR) is a non‐invasive portable technology that measures SV but has not been studied in BD donors. W

Abstract Background Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a heterogeneous disease comprising histologically defined subtypes. For therapy selection, precise subtype identification and individualized prognosis are mandatory, but currently limited. Our aim was to refine subtyping and outcome prediction across main subtypes, assuming that a tumor is composed of molecular features present in distinct pathological subtypes. Methods Individual RCC samples were modeled as linear combination of the main subtypes (clear cell (ccRCC), papillary (pRCC), chromophobe (chRCC)) using computational gene expression de

The paper adopts the balance panel data of 267 listed companies on two trading board HOSE and HNX in the period from 2008 to 2015, estimated by FEM, REM, 2SLS and GMM method. To intrinsic factors, research results show that financial leverage and default risk control have high positive statistical significance with the debt maturity, but tangible assets are lower than those factors. Rib Fractures are a common injury in trauma patients and affect 10% of all injured patients who require admission to the hospital. Currently, there is no consensus on the most efficacious treatment for rib fractures with the debate comparing non-surgical versus surgical management. Medical management of rib fractures often requires admission to the intensive care unit with a focus on pain control to allow good pulmonary hygiene. Pain control involved a multimodal approach with current techniques including epidural anesthesia and paravertebral blocks. Although many patients recover with medical
