The Long Term Bridge Performance (LTBP) program is an organization within the Federal Highway Administration that inspects, tests, analyzes, and observes, for an extended period of time, a variety of bridge types throughout the United States. Part of the program includes periodic testing of select bridges of a span of 20 years. The Kettle River Bridge located outside of Sandstone, Minnesota was selected for study due to its unique design. The Kettle River Bridge is a historical steel cantilevered deck arched Pratt truss bridge. The bridge was instrumented with 151 strain gauges on various floor and truss members along with eight displacement gauges strategically placed along the truss. All gauges were read simultaneously as the bridge underwent non-destructive live loading. The recorded gauge readings were analyzed to determine bridge behavior and then used in the assistance of calibrating a working finite-element model. After a working model was verified the distribution factors for the interior and exterior floor stringers were determined. By using the controlling distribution factor, a load rating for the bridge was determined for both inventory and operating. The distribution factors and load ratings determined using the working finite-element model were then compared to the AAHSTO LRFD specifications.

The subject of the master thesis is the design and assessment of the supporting roof steel structure on the building, which will be used for various sports events in Znojmo. The building has a rectangular floor plan with dimensions of 50 x 60 m. The height at the top is 15 m. The trusses are articulated on concrete columns. Structure stability ensures system of bracings. The work contains a static calculation of the main load-bearing elements, including the relevant joints. The roof and cladding consist of sandwich panels.

Roof cladding and walls will be made using sandwich panels of KINGSPAN. The main material will be used steel S235.

Diploma thesis contains a design of steel load-bearing structure of a hangar placed in Brno-Medlánky. The ground dimensions are 40.0×44.0 m, the height of the building is 10.0 m. Two preliminary variants of the design solution were processed; main difference is the shape of the truss girder. Both variants were assessed for a combination of seventeen load cases. The comparison of the variants led to the selection of the final variant, which was assessed in detail. The girder truss in this variant is an arched truss, the height of the truss is 1.5 m, the individual elements are made of square hollow sections. A detailed static calculation was performed including the calculation of joints, drawing documentation and technical report. The main construction material is S235JR steel.

The diploma thesis deals with the design and assessment of the steel construction of the car showroom in Jihlava. The ground dimensions of the structure are 40,0 x 52,0 m and the height at the highest point is 13,14 m. The supporting structure consists of a truss girder consisting of a set of arches, outer columns and an inner column with a strut. This is a freebase system, the distance of the bindings is 4.0 m. In the framework of the work is elaborated the comparison of two variants, more suitable includes the static calculation of the main supporting parts, including the joints and details. The main construction material is steel, grade S 355.

Accommodation rooms, private apartment, laundry room and building manager’s apartment are situated in the second level of building. Roofing of the two-storey building is created by arched truss. The single-storey building is roofed by green roof.

The thesis deals with the design and structural assessment of the swimming pool object in Dobruška. The solved structure has been chosen of the 2 preliminary variants. The dimensions of the rectangular floor plan are 34,10x40,99 m and the height of the ridge is 13,83 m. The structural system consist of two-hinged arched trusses which are connected with solid-web purlins and girts. The spatial rigidity is provided by combination of longitudinal and sway bracings. The aim of this bachelor thesis is variant design and assessment of loadbearing structure of steel footbridge over I/11 route. Main superstructure will have two steel arched beams joined with lower orthotropic deck using suspenders in the „V“ shape. For assessment of superstructure a three-dimensional structural computational model was created in software Dlubal RFEM 5.20. The span of the footbridge is 48,71 m, free width is 4 m, height is 7,5 m. The structure was designed according to currently valid standarts to the ultimate limit state and serviceability limit state. Supporting elements are designed from steel of class S355.

The aim of the thesis is the assessment of steel structure roofing winter stadium in Jihlava city and design of the variant solution of load bearing steel structure of the roof. The ground plan dimensions are 60 x 84 m The current structure is composite of truss main girders with parabolic lower chords, and purlins . Axial distances of main girders are 12 m and are supported on concrete columns. The alternative proposed solution uses arched truss main girders and truss purlins. They are supported on existing concrete columns. All load bearing members of existing and new design structure – main girders, purlins, roof bracing - have been evaluated according to actual normative rules. It is evident that the static assessment of the existing structure is satisfied from viewpoint of ultimate and serviceability limit states. The static assessment of the new structure is satisfied from the viewpoint of both limit states.

The diploma thesis deals with the study of sports hall designated for volleyball. The volleyball hall is steel construction with arched truss with span of 30 meters. Sport`s background, roofed by mono-pitch plus saddle roof, is part of south-easterly side of the hall. The hall is situated in moderate slope terrain in cadastre unit Zbraslav na Moravě. Designed hall has rectangular plan (48 x 30 m) to this belongs also the foyer and the clubroom. Clear height of the hall is 15 m. Object consists of columnal structural system with steel columns that support arched truss. Center to center spacing of main truss is 8 m. The object is set up on reinforced concrete foundation pad. Column foot is sticked in foundation pad and column head is pinned. Roof’s and wall’s bracings provide stability of the hall. Curtain walling and roof cover is made of sandwich panels Kingspan. Insolation and daylighting is guaranteed by plastic windows set in the wall.

The subject of the Diploma thesis is a design wooden structures of a multipurpose sport building in Šumperk. The floor plan measurements of the building are 45,0 x 48,0 m with the maximum height 15,0 m. The solution is choosen on the basis of two variants. The structures is designed with respect to ultimate and serviceability limit states. The multipurpose sport building is consist of 13 main truss centre to centre spacing 4,0m. The main structural system is design as the three-hinged arched structure made of solid timber and in the second variant as the arched structure made of glue laminated timber. The spatial rigidity of the structure is secured of diagonal bracing. The roofing is carried by rafter which are safed by purlin and then by upper chord. The steel columns are design as a part of gable wall. The project was carried out in the scia Engineer 2014 software. Some of the particular elements both variants were checked and designed by manualy calculating. The thesis includes structural design report, joints structures, drawings and production drawing the element of the three-hinged arched structure.

The shape of 3D truss girder consists of three circular arcs of radius 69,88m, 12,43 m and 33,45 m. Between main girders is 3D bracing. The structure is pin-supported.

The truss systems are widely used in civil, ocean and aerospace engineering. Most specifications concerning design of such structure mainly focus on preventing from buckling of individual members. This consideration has proven adequate for truss structures under transverse loading, whereas a truss arch subjected to axial compressive force may exhibit overall buckling without inducing local instabilities. Buckling and Postbuckling of arches trusses is the major concern of this study. Analysis is based on geometrically nonlinear finite element method together with perturbation technique. Single- and two-span multistory truss arches are investigated. Both stable-and unstable-postbuckling are found.

This Study elaborates the topic of Biblical Trust in the World of Pentateuch. This trust is understood as to rely in a purely subjective way on a word or instruction of some person. In case of God it frequently means a conviction that some humanly unrealizable promises are to be fulfilled. Such attitude secures to the trusting person merits before God. Rely on God is often understood in a confrontational way as opposite to the life of unbelievers. Trust requires courage to make leap in the dark. Meanwhile it is always right to trust in God, trust in a human person is in Pentateuch interpreted as fool. But if the respective man is the spokesman of God, the eventual mistrust is seen as an attack against God himself. In case of God's revelation trust becomes duty. If there is any doubt people can ask some sign of authenticity for the presented God's will. But if the will is known, eventual mistrust is interpreted as disobedience and follows a severe punishment. The same trust which belongs to God is required also for his prophet and for the Law proclaimed in the God's name. If somebody relies on himself in sense of exaggerated self-confidence which does not count on God, it is understood as a crime. In the same manner is valuated the trust directed towards the pagan divinities.
