Objective: One major barrier for usage of intrauterine devices (IUD) includes a widespread sense of fear regarding pain during insertion of this contraception. By researching the most effective IUD insertion analgesics available and standardizing these pain management methods, women may be less fearful of obtaining IUDs. Methods: A comprehensive literature review was conducted using Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE and Cochrane Library to compare methods of pain relief during IUD insertions. Outcomes measured include the pain management method used, the dosage administered, the pain expe

Resumen
Due to the overuse of antibiotics, antibiotic resistance has become a global health crisis, and has forced an exploration of alternative antibacterial agents. This review explores natural solutions through the antibacterial potential of medicinal plants and their symbiotic endophytic fungi. Medicinal plants have been utilized for centuries to treat infections because of their rich phytochemical content, including alkaloids, flavonoids, and saponins, which exhibit antibacterial properties. Their efficacy is measured through minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) assays, which showcase their abi

Resumen
The approximately 270,000 known species of plants form the basis of all food chains on earth and fuel all life systems (although even this number is only a fraction of plant diversity). From this fact alone, plants should be an important part of biodiversity conservation. An overview is provided of plant classification and systematics as well as the diversity of plant physiology and ecology. Plants can also be very valuable to humans for reasons illuminated by the fields of ethnobotany (focusing on traditional uses and medicinal plants) and economic botany (looking at plant properties for nove

For centuries, St. John’s wort (SJW; Hypericum perforatum L., Hypericaceae) has been used as an herbal remedy for various medical conditions both externally and internally in many countries. Although it is a well-known and widely used traditional medicinal plant, concerns about its safety and herb-drug interactions caused a significant decrease in market sales starting in the early 2000s. The adulteration history of St. John’s wort (SJW) goes back to 1875 in the United States; the American Pharmaceutical Association mentioned Ascyrum stans and A. crux-andreae as the substitutes of SJW in its r

Calcium signaling pathways play pivotal roles in regulation of various important biological processes in eukaryotes ranging from yeast to human. Because of the high degree in gene conservation from yeast to human, the small molecule inhibitors discovered in the yeast based-drug screening system can be expected to exert their function in human as well. The immunosuppressive agents, FK506 and cyclosporine A, are an example. Our previous studies using a zds1 yeast-based assay to search for inhibitors in the calcium signaling pathway in Saccharomyces cerevisae mutant strain from the crude extract
