Resumen
The development of automotive technology is increasing rapidly along with the high level of competition among producers. According to data compiled by the Association of Indonesian Motorcycle Industry (AISI) in 2015-2016 there was an increase in the number of motorcycle sales of about 4.6% or an increase of 5.8 million units for. The high level of sales and technological developments leaving the problem for the automotive business itself. One of the problems that often happens is the slow absorption of technological progress to the hands of users. Motorcycle service workshops and bottom-line businesspeople are very vulnerable to the impact of this technology transfer process. This situation indirectly affects the sluggish economic movements among the bottom because they lack access (training and access to the latest sources of technology references). This situation should be a special concern for the top of the automotive business activists and also practitioners / academics related to the rapid development of technology produced can give impacts of rapid economic growth also for lower-level business people. The Up Grade skill program of motorcycle service involves a partner group (workshop) consisting of 6 people mechanics who are still in the beginner category. The training materials provided are tune up, conventional motorcycle overhaul (carburetor) and tune up injection motorcycle. Training is held for 2 full days (equivalent to 20 hours) with competency test process on the last day of the program. From the training activities can be seen the improvement of mechanical competence obtained from the pre-test at the beginning of the training and post test at the end of the activity.Through the program of Community Service of Regular Science and Technology is expected proposers can play its role as an academic in helping accelerate the process of technology transfer, especially for lower-level business people who do have limited access to technology. After the end of this program is expected to increase the mechanical skills as well as the increased service quality and competitiveness of partner workshops.

Resumen
Case reports remain an important source of data in the debate over the carcinogenic effect of asbestos-containing automotive friction products. This report documents a case of pleural mesothelioma accompanied by asbestos bodies in the lung tissue of a career auto mechanic with no other known sources of exposure. Previously unreported historical and contemporary exposure data are also discussed in the context of providing additional support for the proposition that work with asbestos-containing automotive products presents a risk of significant exposure. While there remains a body of negative epidemiology that fails to find an increased risk of disease among auto workers, those data must be approached with caution. Many of those studies have drawn technical criticisms, which are beyond the scope of this report, but they remain a key part of the legal defense mounted by defendant-companies who are involved in asbestos-related litigation. This ongoing debate provides the context for the continued relevance of case reports such as this one, as well as the presentation of new and previously unpublished exposure data.

Resumen
The need to increase the service life, efficiency and environmental friendliness of automotive engines leads to innovations in their maintenance and repair. Fuels are modified by mechanic-chemistry, hydrodynamic and acoustic cavitation, triboelectrization, and joint application of these methods. The most effective activators are described by Yu. V. Vorob’yov. (Research purpose) The research purpose is in summarizing the results of tests of activators by Yu. I. Vorobyov, identifying the features of their modification of motor fuels and outlining measures to ensure their stable operation in different internal combustion engines. (Materials and methods) The article presents the description of motor fuel activators under patents of the Russian Federation No. 2411074, 2550203, 2592801 and the results of their tests on KamAZ-740, ZMZ-406, YAMZ-236, UMZ-412 engines with fuels, with water-fuel emulsion, conducted at the Air Force Academy named after Professor N. E. Zhukovsky and Yu. A. Gagarin. (Results and discussion) Authors assumed from the analysis of the design of the activators by Yu. V. Vorobyov and the efficiency of their work, that their modification of fuels, rapeseed oil, alcohols and waters occurs first by mechanical-chemistry, then by cavitation, and finally by mechanical-chemistry. The effectiveness of the activator was confirmed by bench and operational tests to reduce fuel consumption by 21.3-31.9 percent, 80 pairs of chromatograms and chemmotology of modified liquids, the irreversibility and enhancement of fuel modification in storage, and other unusual properties of various activated liquids. (Conclusions) The effectiveness of the activator in increasing the caloric content of motor fuels by 26-30 percent and reducing their consumption by 21.3-31.9 percent is ensured by optimizing its design for different liquid consumption in it and anti-erosion materials. However, the activator requires resource and load tests on gasoline and diesel engines, testing for modification of oils and motor oils, tests at gas stations.

Resumen
In a research study, which focused on a strategy to link informal and formal motor mechanic artisan training, a number of constraints leading to the shortage of artisans in general were identified in the literature. Disparities between big businesses and the informal sector were highlighted. Emphasis was placed on the need for a growth initiative, which would include the informal practising motor mechanic, to address the key constraints and obstacles encountered in the development and implementation of artisan training for South Africa. The study was explorative and a qualitative research design followed. The researcher used semi-structured interviews to collect data from 16 (n = 16) experts in the field of training automotive artisans. A purposive snowball sampling method was applied to select participants from educational sectors (public and private FET colleges), automotive organisations and organised labour with the common characteristic of involvement in the training of motor mechanic artisans. The key themes identified in the different participants’ responses formed the data for the study, which was analysed by means of the ATLAS.ti 7.0 version data analysis program. The research confirmed that a strategy could be developed to successfully link the informal and formal motor mechanic artisan communities.

Resumen
Electric vehicles (EV’s) are alternative fuel technology in auto industry with wide acceptance across globe. This paper elaborates virtual methods used to as tool for safety and ergonomic evaluations of in wheel design using Switch Reluctance Motor (SRM). In our recent research, a unique design of in wheel design using SRM has been developed. Special advantages of this design include modularity, scalability, cost effectiveness, and easy installation. Easy installation of in wheel design architecture is one of the prime criteria, since it relates to changing of tyres in long runs. In the proposed passenger car, if work is carried out for maintenance issues, generally single operator (mechanic) dose tyre changing or wheel/brake servicing. Two validations are important, mainly safety of the operator; secondly design for assembly of motor, and tyre rims. As a part of this research, Virtual Reality (VR) based safety and ergonomic evaluation studies have been conducted for the in wheel design adaptations. The computational models and virtual modelling simulations using motion capture, Arena and EON reality mimicked live system environments, so as to validate effectiveness motor assembly and disassembly functionality using human as an interface. Initial phase consists of schematic representations of models to evaluate conceptualisation for different designs. Based on schematics, SR motor and rim tyre models were developed and interfaced in VR environment. In second phase, vehicle topology was reverse engineered using hand held 3D scanner and converted to metafile for full scale model development. In third phase, motion capture was used with 20 camera systems to video record the existing human movements and rigid body such as tyre to develop live environment. Finally all three phases were interfaced together in VR environment to evaluate assembly and disassembly functions. Based on the validation of these, designs were fine tuned for effective assembly functionality. The VR based safety and ergonomic evaluation procedures were used for demonstration of wheel assembly disassembly functions by single operator. Similar context can be extended to other automotive design evaluations, without substantial prototype costs for safety and ergonomic evaluations.
