Texto completoUnbalance in postural changes can result from several factors. Alterations to the stomatognathic system, especially the dentofacial deformities (DFD), change significantly the head posture from individuals who present with this kind of deformity. Researches have shown body posture changes in children with mouth breathing; however, studies associating postural and respiratory conditions in adults with dentofacial deformities (DFD) were not done. This research aimed identify the main reasons of postural changes on young adults who present with DFD; verify if the respiratory pardon has influence in the head posture and of these individuals and evaluate if the orthognathic surgery modifies the breathing pardon and head posture. Two groups were analyzed, the DFD group, which was composed of 15 young adults, both genres, all of whom presented DFD, in orthodontic preparation for orthognathic surgery, and the Control Group (CG) which was composed of 10 young adults all presenting dentofacial harmony, paired regarding sex and age with the study group. Into the head posture analyzes, Biophogrammetry was used, which afforded angular measurements from photographs of the anterior and posterior views. Anteriorization, posteriorization, lateral inclination, flexion and extension of the head were also considered on it. The results were obtained with the agreement between two evaluators. The evaluations were done before the orthognathic surgery, and between three to six months after it. To compare the groups we used the independent and paired t-test, McNemar test, and Mann-Whitney test, whereas for correlation, the test used was the Spearman test. The respiratory function results related to before and after orthognathic surgery show that this procedure modified the breathing pattern, reaching statistical significance (p=0.024). In evaluation of the head posture pre-orthognathic surgery, the results obtained were similar between DFD individuals, considering inclination, anteriorization and posteriorization, however, in the group of individuals who present with skeletal malocclusion class II were found larger deviations of normality on the head flexion/extension pattern (p=0.036), comparing it with those in class III. The comparison between DFD and CG individuals, in the periods pre and post orthognathic-surgery demonstrated angular measures of anteriorization/posteriorization lower than the reference angle (90 degrees), meanwhile, there was no significant statistical difference among the groups. Comparing the DFD group and the CG results, regarding head inclination, a significant statistical difference was found in the post-surgical moment (p=0.022) as well in post-surgical (p=0.017). After the orthognathic surgery, the angles resulted from the head posture do not significantly differed from the ones obtained in the pre-surgical period, nonetheless, the angular measurements appeared under the normality to the head anteriorization/ posteriorization. There was a mild correlation between the breathing pattern and the head inclination in the pre-surgical moment (p=0.028). It is possible to conclude that the head posture of DFD individuals were similarly to ones in the CG toward the inclination, anteriorization and posterization aspects. Individuals who present with skeletal malocclusion class II showed larger deviations to the head flexion/extension compared with the ones in the Skeletal class III. In cases where the DFD was evaluated, the higher the head inclination presented by individuals, higher is the change in the breathing pattern. After surgery, a spontaneous increase in the breathing pattern was presented without a head posture change.

Texto completoThis study was carried out at the Language Resource Centres of the University of Strasbourg, which are set up to develop student autonomy in language learning as well as linguistic competence. It examines, in this context, the place and role of teachers in terms of fostering student learning autonomy. In order to do this, twelve teachers were involved in reflecting upon their own beliefs and practice. Their beliefs – in relation to what they think, know and believe about learning autonomy – were gathered by means of a questionnaire developed by Borg and Al-Busaidi (2012a). Their practice – how they interact with students - was examined through interviews in which the teachers gave their own descriptions and explanations whilst reviewing their recorded teaching/learning session. An open coding (Strauss and Corbin, 2004), based on inter-rater agreement (Garrison et al., 2006), has enabled a category-based analysis related to grounded theory. The data thus collected have been analyzed qualitatively, resulting in the production of individual teacher monographs. These have then been related to the principles underlying language learner autonomy

Texto completoPerformance and prevention of injuries in cycling are closely linked to the optimisation of individual's physical capacity and technique as weil as sport equipment. In this context, we have studied the influence of saddle setback on the effectiveness of pedalling and on knee joint loads. A musculoskeletal modelling was developed to estimate muscle and joint forces from experimental kinematic and dynamic measurements. We first focused on the adequacy between sensors data, anthropometrie model and kinematic measurements to obtain dynamically consistent input data. Then, the effect of sadd le setback on perforn1ance was evaluated through the index of pedal force effectiveness and a new index based on extemal mechanical work. Results have showed that a more backward sadd le position increases the effectiveness of pedalling. As regards to in jury prevention, our analysis focused on the effect of the saddle setback on two knee injuries commonly observed in cycling: the patellofemoral syndrome and iliotibial band syndrome. Our results showed that saddle setback do not influence patellofemoral joint forces that are usually linked to this syndrome. Moreover, a more backward saddle position increases tibiofemoral compression forces due to increasing eccentric contraction of the hamstrings.Commonly described as a friction syndrome, the computation of interaction force between iliotibial band and lateral femoral epicondyle have showed that the compression was the discriminating factor in the occurrence of the syndrome. The simulation approach developed here could be used as an additional tool to help correct potentially hartnful sport techniques, optimise equipment setup/design and improve the treatment of injuries.More generally, this thesis brings new methodological improvements and clinical implications that have broader applications on sport perfortnance, injury prevention and rehabilitation

Texto completoBalance disorders represent a public health problem because they affect mobility and some autonomy. In the geriatric population, balance disorders are often frequent, have multiple causes and intricate. People with neurological, orthopedic or vestibular deficits may have sensorimotor disorder, biomechanical trouble or sensory integration problems that also affect balance, posture and thus mobility. The identification of the different impairments of balance system issue is the goal of our work. Today, the majority of the evaluation tests of balance are in “static” and they are highly controversial because of their poor repeatability. There are some tests for balance evaluation in “dynamic” conditions, but they are very dependent on the used tool. Balance evaluation becomes more complicated in the dynamic case, since there are several platforms with different movements. A patient should not move from one platform to another to make different movements and evaluations. For a complete analysis of postural stability, we must find a new solution that replaces all existing platforms into a single platform. This original platform is “IsiMove” the tool designed, developed and used in this thesis to measure the stability of subjects with balance disorders.IsiMove is a new dynamic posturography platform, designed by ASSISTMOV SAS company in collaboration with the Institute of Intelligent Systems and Robotics "ISIR" and the Rothschild Hospital. This platform addresses the need for balance analysis with its four degrees of freedom. The dual force plate on the platform allows the measurement of the posture and the force interaction of the foot / floor during the reactions, which then allows the analysis of the pathological behavior for a broad class of physical disabilities, neurological or vestibular.A new balance evaluation protocol was elaborated under the direction of Pr.Thoumie, following a series of experiments and tests. This protocol is almost complete; it is divided into two parts: static (standard protocol) and dynamic. The dynamic part is unique, in all 3 planes of space, simple movement and different frequencies. Tests on subjects with neurological disorders (myopathy and neuropathy) or stroke (hemiplegia) were made in the Rothschild hospital with the help of a physiotherapist. The majority of subjects with neurological disorders were unable to perform all exercises protocol, unlike patients with stroke. This has force us to propose two balance assessment methods: the first is based on discriminant statistical analysis and the second is based on graphical representation
