Resumen
Water springs are considered as one of the important natural resource for tourism due to its socio-economic, cultural, health and religious benefits. Tourists are motivated to visit the water springs due to various reasons like sacredness, health benefits, education and cultural enrichment. Latvia is blessed with several water springs, which are potential attractions for the sacred water or holy water tourism. There are several studies conducted on various aspects of water springs in general. However, the research in the context of tourism, particularly motivations and interest of tourist is very scant. In this regard, aim of the paper is to know the motivations and potential benefits of the water spring tourism to tourist in Latvia. Initially authors reviewed existing literature to know the state of the spring tourism. Semi structured interviews and online-survey method to obtain visitors responses. Interviews were held with the visitor, covering various aspects like motivations and benefits of water spring tourism. To the best of the author’s knowledge, very few studies conducted on spring tourism in Latvia, to provide a detailed overview on tourist motivations and potential benefits of visiting water spring tourism. Overall, the study results provide the basis for understanding the most frequently visited water spring resources by the tourists in Latvia. Nature appreciation, natural setting followed by mineral and health benefits are the major reasons to visit the water springs. Further, it allows decision makers to incorporate tourist opinion and their suggestions in the sustainable planning, promotion and management of water springs as tourist destinations in Latvia.

Resumen
Tourism involves intensive utilization of environmental assets and natural resources. Valuing these assets may be relevant for policy purposes. This paper presents results from a contingent valuation study of the benefits experienced by tourist visitors to natural areas in Gran Canaria (Canary Islands). Construct validity is approached by investigating question format effects. The open-ended format is compared with dichotomous choice methods using a general parametric testing procedure. In general, the single-bounded method does produce larger estimates of consumer surplus than the open-ended method, but these divergences were not significant for German and Italian tourists. In addition, the double-bounded method converges to open-ended results, especially for UK tourists. The former method is also robust with respect to the choice of the bid vector design. The assessed benefits highlight the economic contribution of these assets to the tourism industry.

Resumen
Due to the impact of COVID-19, people’s demand for non-contact tourism is increasing. The development of Internet technologies such as the Internet of Things, virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR) can meet this demand. Internet technology makes non-contact tourism grow. However, these new technologies are emerging only within application cases, which cannot provide comprehensive methodological guidance for tourism suppliers. Despite the booming development of winter tourism in China, there are still many problems, especially affecting the tourist experience.rarchy process (AHP) and activity, setting, experience and benefit (ASEB) grid analysis were used to analyze the activities, settings, experiences and benefits of the scenic spot from the tourist perspective taking the Dagu Glacier Scenic Spot (DGSS) as an example. The research aims to increase the attraction of the scenic zone, and promote the coordinated and sustainable development of business in West China under the goal of improving tourists’ experiences. The results show that: subgoals of experience (E) and benefit (B) are the main directions of the development of ice and snow tourism in the DGSS. Furthermore, the threat of benefits (TB), the threat of setting (TS), the threat of experience (TE), the opportunities of benefits (OB), the opportunities of setting (OS), and the opportunities of experience (OE) are the main concerns.

Resumen
Alternative tourism, specifically cultural tourism, has gained worldwide importance. This is reflected in the growing number of people preferring this type of leisure activity. However, and even though archaeological and religious contexts represent hubs of attraction for pilgrims and tourists, their development seems to generate social issues. The objective of this research is to analyse the social impact of cultural tourism, from the perspective of tradesmen living in the rural municipality of Tlaxcala, Mexico. Information was collected by surveys. Sample size was calculated using the non-probabilistic method (snowball), and 54 tradesmen owning establishments near tourist attractions, were interviewed. Results evidenced that tradesmen do perceive social problems including traffic congestion, increasing living costs, pollution, street vendors, and augmented competition between businesses. However, they appreciate the benefits of providing tourists with low-cost catering services, considering tourism to be positive or very positive. The conclusion is that economic benefits outweigh the social impacts generated by tourism. Highlights: The influx of pilgrims and tourists is generating some social problems in the receiving rural spaces. Tourism service providers derive little benefit due to the low-cost services in accommodation and meal offer to tourists. Social problems are increasing (road traffic, higher cost of living, pollution, street vendors) and greater competition between businesses. Tourist activity is considered good or very good since it contributes to local development.

Resumen
While the positive economic impact of tourism cannot be denied, it has also a number of negative side effects. The article focuses on the residents’ perception regarding the tourist activity and on identifying the factors influencing their acceptance for the tourist activity, in Constanta (Romania). A questionnaire based quantitative research was employed, creating several indexes, subsequently included in econometric models in order to reveal the factors which determine residents’ acceptance and support for tourism. The results reveal that residents are highly in favour of tourism activity and support tourism expansion and further development. Most respondents considered that tourism contributed to the improvement of the city image and identified a fairly positive economic impact, while tourism was accountable for the increase in several negative phenomena. The impact of tourist activity on the sustainable development of the city was perceived as medium positive, while most respondents considered that the number of tourists should increase. The residents’ acceptability toward tourism was revealed to depend on several variables and computed indexes: city development index, impact on residents’ quality of life index, sustainable development index, and perceived intensity of contact with tourists.

Resumen
The article puts forward the idea that visiting friends and relatives tourism (VFR tourism) is quite an attractive and promising kind of tourism in economic terms contrary to the common opinion about it being a minor and not profitable one owing to the fact that VFR trip makers spend less money than other types of tourists as they do not use local accommodation, restaurants, attractions and so on. Using the results of ample foreign research the authors claim that current VFR tourist expenditure appears to exceed (when the average host´s spending is added) that of tourists falling into other categories. A VFR tourist sufficiently often uses commercial accommodation facilities and prefers active pastime including dining, city sightseeing, visiting museums, theatres. The paper also identifies and systematizes the main characteristics of VFR tourism, which provides considerable economic benefits to the appropriate destination areas. Particular emphasis is put on creating jobs, a ´seasonal compensation´ to the temporal flow pattern, local revenue mobilization because of VFR trips repetition and regularity, as well as a popularization of destination through VFR tourists responses and word-of-mouth advertising. In reference to Russia, the authors substantiate the expediency of maintaining and developing the international segment of the VFR tourism market and the necessity for scientific research into the internal Russian VFR tourism market potential.

Resumen
‘Green tourism’ is defined as tourism that enhances local cultural elements, which are operating under the control of local communities, providing employment and maintaining economic benefits within the local communities. In fact, many times the above definition is poorly utilized, since there are times when the economic benefits dim from local communities. Tourism industry uses the term as a message to tourists on energy saving, avoiding coastal pollution and so on. Sometimes, the same tourist businesses are accused of using the term or labelling ‘green’ primarily for marketing purposes. Although it is a fact that tourism industry is starting to respond to the changing values of tourists regarding environmental issues, however, the purpose of this research is to infer if there is a future for sustainable tourism development concerning the enterprises that provide sport tourism in Greece.

This research aims to determine the potential of the Swamp of Indah Almour as a tourist attraction, when viewed from the aspect of economic benefits, aspects of the development of tourist destinations and the public's response to the development of the Swamp of Indah Almour tourism object as a sustainable tourist attraction in Bondowoso, East Java. The development and construction of Swamp of Indah Almour tourism object that leads to a comprehensive and comprehensive ecotourism, will become an economic resource for the local government and the local community. With a fairly high level of public awareness about tourist destinations, this has the greatest potential for the development of ecotourism which is currently more popular with tourists, and can maintain tourism sustainability. However, there are some things that still need to be addressed, including the need for more modern management of tourist sites and follow the current trends to attract more investors and tourists to visit. In addition, it is also necessary to improve the quality of human resources in managing tourist destinations in providing services and management of tourism objects. Resumen
Abstract Having the right image as a tourist destination brings immense benefits for a city’s international recognition in an increasingly competitive tourist industry. Official tourism websites as effective platforms to project a destination image online are able to provide substantial information about the tourist destination and attract a wider potential for inbound tourists from a global market. However, a lack of sufficient research has been noted regarding the integration of tourism studies and the study of website discourse, particularly visual discourse. This study, drawing on the theory of metafunctions in semiotics, conducts a visual discourse analysis by examining the three metafunctional meanings of visual images extracted from the official Beijing Tourism website. The results of both quantitative and qualitative analyses showed that the investigated website constructs an online city destination image through a multiplicity of tourist resources. The study concludes by outlining the practical benefits for tourism website designers and implications for future research.

Resumen
This study used 268 household and 13 key informant interviews to get the views of Livingstone city residents on economic, environmental and sociocultural effects of tourism on local households and the city. Results show very few economic benefits at household level with residents perceiving big tourism-related businesses, the state and its officials to be the main beneficiaries. Although tourists were commended for helping vulnerable residents, they were blamed for contributing to prostitution and diseases by local residents; and were targeted for petty thefts by unemployed youths. Sociocultural effects of tourism are significant for residents but are routinely ignored or glossed over by tourism development practitioners. Tourism had resulted in a general improvement in the city environs. It is concluded that tourism development projects must target increased benefits for residents to increase benevolent attitudes from them towards tourism in their city, and to ensure a more sustainable variant of tourism is achieved in the tourist capital.

Resumen
East Africa is home to some of the most stunning wildlife in the world. With tourism in the region’s wildlife parks growing in popularity, it is imperative to evaluate the socioeconomic and environmental costs and benefits of this expanding industry. This study conducted a cost-benefit analysis of the various impacts that tourism has brought to Kenya’s national parks by monetarily valuating each impact. While the results of this cost-benefit analysis suggest that the benefits far outweigh the costs, even when non-measurable costs are considered, a number of fundamental issues must be addressed in order to improve the cost-benefit balance. The results are likely to be representative of the overall state of tourism in Kenya’s national parks and expose key areas where improvements can be made. Improvements to tourism in Kenya’s national parks can have positive implications for local people, the environment, wildlife species, tourists, and biodiversity conservation. Resumen
AbstractWildlife tourism is a growing phenomenon, particularly in emerging economies such as India. Purported benefits of this growth in tourism include greater tourist interest in, and support for, conservation. We examined the interest, awareness and potential for this support in three prominent Indian national parks, Nagarahole, Kanha and Ranthambore. Park records indicate that most tourists (71%) are Indian nationals. Our surveys of 436 Indian tourists indicate that many were on their first visit to the park (71%) and are well educated (82% with bachelor and master degrees). Most tourists (88%) visited for <1 week and spent <USD 600 on their visit. The main reasons for visiting parks were opportunities to see nature, tigersPanthera tigrisand scenic beauty. Seventy-one percent of tourists indicated they are likely or somewhat likely to return to the parks but only 34% would be willing to visit the parks if tigers are absent. Forty-two percent indicated willingness to pay higher gate fees. Surprisingly, those spending less on their trip were more willing to pay higher fees than those spending more. Sixty-five percent believed that local people benefit from the park, whereas in reality local benefits are few. Our results indicate the potential for the growth of domestic wildlife tourism and support for conservation among tourists but highlight the need for increasing education and awareness on the difficult realities of conservation in India.

Resumen
Tourist behavior has a critical impact on the environmental sustainability of tourism. The hedonic nature of tourism and lack of an economic incentive make tourist behavior particularly hard to change. Making tourists behave more environmentally friendly would have substantial environmental benefits. This is the aim of the present study. Three alternative approaches are tested. The most successful approach—based on sharing monetary savings with guests—leads to a 42 percent change in one specific tourist behavior with negative environmental consequences. This new sharing-based approach significantly outperforms current approaches of increasing awareness of environmental consequences and of tourist ability to make a change. Tourism businesses should consider replacing current appeals with sharing-based schemes.

The Setu Babakan tourism area has been designated as a Betawi cultural tourism area by the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta in 2000. Setu Babakan has three tourism objects culture, nature and agro. It has been established as a cultural heritage for more than 15 years, but the level of tourist visits still low. This research will analyze factors of Community-Based Cultural Tourism Development in the Setu Babakan tourism area, both tourism object factors and community participation include several dimensions, (1) objects, (2) access, (3) facilities, (4) participation, (5) support, (6) benefits, (7) revenue. The study was conducted by distributing 81 questionnaires to surrounding community in the area. The results of the MDS analysis in dimensions of the attractions are in the good category of 80.57. Dimensions of access, infrastructure, community support for tourism development, public attitudes towards tourists are in the good categories of 84.64, 80.39, 81.87, and 75.62. Dimension of community participation and benefits perceived by the community is in the unfavorable category of 44.69% and 46.29. Community involvement needs to be increased so it can increase tourist visits. The sustainability of Setu Babakan as a cultural tourism area is maintained because the existence of it can really be felt by the local community.

Resumen
Among the factors in the development of tourist destinations the cooperation among economic subjects of the sphere of recreation and tourism occupies a special place. Foreign experts provided an evidence of a significant number of positive impacts of inter-firm cooperation and cooperation in the operation and development of a tourist destination, which necessitates a comprehensive assessment of socio-economic benefits of tourism activities, including an evaluation of the effectiveness of relationships between subjects in the sphere of recreation and tourism. This paper proposes a methodological approach to the study of social and economic benefits of tourist activities at the regional level, describes the main stages of its practical use: definition of the need for information collection and processing of raw data, evaluation of indicators, data analysis and development management decisions. Presented in this framework methodology involves assessing the socio-economic benefits of tourism activities in the region (a tourist destination) in three interrelated aspects: economic, social and effectiveness of relationships. Particular attention is paid to assessing the effectiveness of inter-firm relationships in the value chain of the tourist product as a component of social and economic benefits of tourism activities. A comprehensive assessment of the socio-economic benefits of tourism activities is required for the analysis of the possible ways of development of the sphere of recreation and tourism in the region, for the development of appropriate strategies which take into account both the existing potential of this sector, as well as socio-economic efficiency of the planned activities. In addition, the technique can be used as a reference and analytical tool for assessing the performance targets in terms of the effectiveness for the implementation of strategies for the development of tourism in the region. Practical use of the presented methodology is possible for assessing the socio-economic benefits of tourism activities, for regional, inter-regional studies and comparative studies of tourist destinations.

Resumen
Previous COVID-19 tourism research has not considered the positive impact of a low-risk perception and a perception of the benefits of regional travel on taking alternative tourism. This study attempts to fill the research gap and examine the positive effect of these perceptions on tourists’ attitudes to regional travel and intentions to undertake regional travel during the COVID-19 pandemic. A survey of 278 respondents confirmed that the perceived benefit positively influences tourists’ attitudes and travel intentions, but that a low-risk perception only positively affects their attitudes. This study contributes to tourism risk management research by introducing the concept of a low-risk perception as a positive factor. For tourism recovery, it finds that relaxation, value, and convenience are benefits to drive people to travel.

Resumen
Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate benefits tourist seek when visiting a nature-based tourism destination to develop a benefit segmentation framework. Design/methodology/approach The study used quantitative research methods, with 400 self-administered survey administered to a sample of 400 tourists visiting the Kruger, Panorama, and Lowveld areas in Mpumalanga. Findings Cluster analysis produced two benefit segments. Binary logistic regression benefits that emerged from the cluster analysis were statistically significant predictors of the attractions tourists visited and the activities in which they participated during their stays in Mpumalanga. Factor-cluster analysis and binary logistic regression results were used to develop a benefit segmentation framework as a marketing planning tool. Research limitations/implications The study was only based on Mpumalanga Province and therefore, the results cannot be generalised. The study was conducted over one season, the Easter period Practical implications The proposed benefit segmentation framework provides a tool that destination management organisations can use to plan effectively for marketing. Social implications Effective marketing may lead to increased tourism growth which can have a multiplier effect on the destination. Originality/value This article is based on a master’s study conducted in Mpumalanga and results are presented on this paper.

Resumen
AbstractThe paper deals with the relationship between the presence of world heritage sites in a country and the volume of international tourist arrivals and international tourism receipts. World heritage sites are unique tourist attractions with enhanced attention paid to their protection, preservation and sustainability. The paper analyses whether the needs of sustainability can be harmonised with the requirements of a profitable and successful tourism sector, by statistical analysis of data about world heritage sites and tourism performance, for 129 countries of the world from 2014 to 2017. The results show that both cultural and natural world heritage sites are generally strong attractions for tourists and can contribute to increased arrivals and receipts. Cultural sites were found to have higher impact on arrivals, while natural heritage sites seemed to have more impact on receipts, which suggest, that visitors of natural world heritage sites are usually higher spenders, than tourists visiting cultural sites. Countries widely differ, however, in this respect by their geographical locations. Countries in Europe and Latin-America & the Caribbean region benefit most from cultural world heritage sites, while African, and North American countries experienced the benefits of natural world heritage sites more. The general level of development measured by per capita GNI also mattered for the less developed areas, but not so much for developed regions that possess a suitable level of infrastructure, health and education, and living standards.

Resumen
The article examines the questions of informational and methodological support of the assessment procedures and analysis of the benefits and risks of tourism development at the municipal level. There was proposed a method for evaluating the complex risk of tourism industry in the settlements of the municipality on the basis of expert procedures. Expert data on four aspects of the existence of risks and strategic benefits in the settlements was described on the example of one of the districts of the Moscow region: the first aspect is motivational characteristics of the local population and local leaders; human resources and opportunities for training of tourism personnel, infrastructure indicators of the tourism industry, regulatory support for the management of the tourist industry; the second one is environmental factors that affect tourism and recreational activities, and opportunities of the health care system for servicing tourists; the third aspect is municipal factors associated with the development of roads and transport, territorial disparities in the level and quality of life of the population, the costs of tourism infrastructure; and the fourth one is the possibility of development of settlements in connection with the development of their tourism potential, interregional ties and geographical position. Quantitative indicators for the complex potential benefits and risks of comprehensive development of tourism were introduced, grounded and experimentally tested on the example of settlements in the studied area. The analysis of the qualitative opinions of experts about the benefits and risks in the settlements of the district was made as an additional argument of summary quantitative findings. This allowed a more detailed dive into the problems of specific territories and their specialties of the development in tourism activities.

Resumen
Ecotourism and environmental balance is a new phenomenon aimed to research, study and meditate in nature, flora and fauna and the provision of human comfort. Ecotourism is the only way to maximize the economic, environmental and social benefits of tourism. The main problem is represented in the difficulty of balancing the preservation of eco-tourism sites with the process of attracting tourists to eco-tourism sites.A number of hypotheses have been developed, the most important of which are: There is no statistically significant negative impact of tourist on tourist sites. The study concluded a number of results and the most important of these results is that the tourist has a negative impact on eco-tourism sites, represented by tourist's cutting trees, and dumping waste and dirt in streets which is an uncivilized act and harmful to the environment. The study has also shown that tourists influence the eco-tourism sites since eco-tourism requires an environmental awareness, and the tourist should be aware that the protection of touristic sites is mandatory for everyone. The tourist's awareness has a great role in preserving the environment, so the educated tourist is necessary to preserve the eco-tourism sites. The study has a set of recommendations, the most important of these recommendations:To increase the awareness of tourists about the importance of the environment and maintaining it by using leaflets that explain the importance of the environment for tourism,To intensify the penalties and legal procedures against the attacks on eco-tourism sites, and to modify laws and regulations in order to promote touristic services.

Resumen
Ensuring local support for protected areas is increasingly viewed as an important element of biodiversity conservation. This is often predicated on the provision of benefits from protected areas, and a common means of providing such benefits is tourism development. However, the relationship between receipt of tourism benefits and support for conservation has not been explored. This study examined local attitudes towards protected area tourism and the effects of tourism benefits on local support for Komodo National Park, Indonesia. Komodo National Park is a flagship for tourism in a region where protected areas are becoming increasingly visited and where local support for conservation has not been investigated. Results of a questionnaire survey revealed positive attitudes towards tourism and high support for conservation (93.7%), as well as a recognition that tourism is dependent upon the existence of the park. Positive attitudes towards tourism were positively related to the receipt of economic benefits, and to support for conservation. However, a positive relationship between receipt of tourism benefits and support for conservation was not identified, suggesting that benefits from protected area conservation make no difference to local support for conservation. Local people recognized distributional inequalities in tourism benefits, and the most common complaints were of local inflation and tourist dress code. To fully identify the impacts of protected area tourism, long-term studies of local attitudes alongside traditional economic and ecological assessments are recommended.

Resumen
Cianjur Regency has a tourist destination that attracts world tourists, namely the Gunung Padang megalithic site. As a cultural destination in the midst of the community, the development of this tourist destination faces human and environmental problems. The purpose of this study is to determine the development of tourism in Gunung Padang which involves the participation of local communities. Through a qualitative descriptive method this study analyzes the forms of community participation in developing tourism with aspects of environmental sustainability in the vicinity. The participation of the local community in the Karyamukti Village in developing the tourism site of Gunung Padang is done by forming a community of lovers of Gunung Padang which is an embryo for the formation of the Tourism Driving Group or Kompepar. It can be concluded that there are positive benefits felt by the local community in the form of opening opportunities to open businesses that can improve the economic level of encouraging people to be more active in doing business and developing tourism in the region. However, the benefits of high mining are still a pressure on environmental sustainability in the region.

Resumen
Contemporary trends on the world tourism market show that the number of tourists attracted by the cities in growing. Urban tourism is a growing tourism market and especially are attractive the cities in Europe. The cities as an important tourist destinations came of age during 1980s. The local governments came to recognize that tourism could have a role in urban economic development. The invisibility of tourism in cities partly arises from the fact that many facilities are used both by residents and visitors. Improving these facilities therefore provides benefits for local residents as well as assisting the promotion of tourism. City tourism development plan should be prepared as an integral part of global economic and social development plan of the city, with the main aim to integrate the tourism in existing urban economic development, and at the same time to prevent conflict situations. Tourism development in the city needs a network and cooperative relationships between local government, tourist organization, tourist agencies and different organizations/institutions in the city; public-private partnership is a must. In the paper are analyzed the main attributes, principles and goals of the tourism in the cities.

Resumen
As multi-stakeholders in tourism development help to create tourism experience, it is therefore vital to understand each stakeholder’s perception towards tourism development. In additon, local leaders and policy makers play a critical role in facilitating the mutual benefits of all tourism stakeholders in sustainable tourism development in the local community. Most research on Social Exchange Theory (SET) in tourism only focuses on resident’s and tourist’s perceptions toward tourism, and some studies indicate the ambiguous explanation and interpretation on SET in understanding community’s perceptions toward tourists and tourism. Therefore, it is a need to understand local leaders’ and policy makers’ perceptions toward sustainable tourism development, as they act as the initiators or facilitators in sustainable tourism development. In-depth interviews were conducted with ten local leaders and policy-makers in Thailand and the results were thematically analysed. The anticipated results explain positive and negative impacts toward economy, society and environment.

Resumen
Tourism is playing an increasingly important role in the local and national economy. The outstanding beauty of the northern Drakensberg is a prime tourist attraction in KwaZulu-Natal, attracting a regular flow of tourists throughout the year (Okhahlamba Municipality, 2013). The primary objective of this research is to investigate whether the benefits of tourism that are supposed to be reaped by the local community of Bergville, exist. If so, what are these benefits? There might be people from the local community, who are working within the tourism sector, but what are the types of jobs that they do, their level of job-satisfaction, and the extent to which they are able to earn a living from employment within the tourism sector? Do they have the necessary skills and training to allow them to make a successful career within the tourism sector? The White Paper on the Development and Promotion of Tourism (DEAT, 1996), states that with any tourism development in the local communities, local people should be involved in the decision making. They should be trained if they lack the necessary skills required to participate in that development. All these issues are relevant to Bergville as the region has a lot of tourism development, and it is a place that integrates tourism and conservation.

The study examines the distributional effects of tourism expansion applying a social accounting matrix model to the case of Ecuador. Specifically the study examines what share of tourism expansion benefits poor people. The study finds that tourism has large multiplier effects on the Ecuadorian economy and has the potential for substantial benefits to the poor. The study also found that distributional effects of tourism development are spread across all household incomes in both urban and rural areas benefiting the lowest and low households the most. Tourism has the potential of reducing inequality and is pro-poor in the case of Ecuador. Benefits to the poor seem to hinge on how and where tourists spend their money.

Resumen
Tourism makes destinations adapt to receive those who visit them, with a great impact among traditional residents. Overtourism affects picturesque places, and these areas end up losing their authenticity, submitting themselves to the consumption needs of tourists. Neighborhoods’ traditional residents also see their routine completely changed due to the different habits of tourists, and displacement rates rise. This study aims to understand how local people perceive tourism in Alfama, one of the most unique and tourist-oriented neighborhoods of Lisbon. Our study involves a questionnaire to old long-term residents and content analysis of their responses. We used Leximancer software to create categories of analysis depending on frequency of mentions and the way themes are related. Our interviewees testified that overtourism in Alfama generates perceptions that range from a generalized acceptance for the benefits that an improved safety associated to an increased street-life and a cleaner neighborhood generate, and on the other hand the grievance for the loss of a pre-existing community. We also conclude that the benefits of tourist-led gentrification are relevant for the gentrification analysis because they show the contradictions that the remaining residential community experience as tourist-led gentrification unfolds.

Resumen
Introduction. In the context of sustainable tourism development, tourist satisfaction looked at from the perspective of the experience lived in the destination and the quality of services rendered by service providers is one of the directions in which researchers point their attention. In this context, the purpose of this study is to measure the satisfaction of Generations X (GX) and Baby Boomers (GBB) with tourist services in balneal resorts, seen through the perspective of the sustainable development of tourism destinations. Material and method. Methodology consisted in the survey method, by applying the semi-structured questionnaire tool on a sample of tourists visiting the balneal resorts in the Subcarpathians of Oltenia between July and October 2019. Results and discussions. The results show that satisfaction with the access to and inside the destination is good, but the infrastructure requires modernization. Satisfaction with tourist services is good, but it requires the improvement of recreational facilities and treatment services, especially for the members of Generation X. As far as accommodation services are concerned, even though they received the most positive feedback, the vast majority of facilities have medium level classification. Direct or indirect interaction with locals, hotel staff, and local authorities is valued as good towards very good. On the whole, it is necessary to increase satisfaction for GX and GBB tourists, as this will bring greater benefits for all interested parties: hotel owners and staff, tourists, local authorities, and even the local community, who can become more actively involved in the tourist market. Conclusions. This study is useful for local authorities in order to develop sustainable tourism, and for economic agents in obtaining the projected benefits. Key words: tourist satisfaction, generational cohorts, Subcarpathians of Oltenia, sustainable tourism, balneal services.,

From the results of research conducted shows that Quality of services provided to tourists have a strong influence on the loyalty of tourists to visit the tourism objects in the area of Yogyakarta. This is evidenced by the results of the r2 of the influence of service quality to local tourists loyalty is about 22.2%. This shows if the service quality provided by the tourism industry in Yogyakarta enhanced within the region will make the travelers loyal to the tourism industry in Yogyakarta. In addition to the quality of services provided to tourist there are other factors that also have a strong influence on the tourist loyalty that tourist satisfaction factor, as evidenced by the r2 value of 15.2%. This suggests that if the tourism industry pay attention to things that could improve the satisfaction of tourists visiting the attractions in Yogyakarta, then the tourists will be eager to visit again or loyal. Meanwhile, indirectly influence the quality of service to tourists loyalty through the satisfaction of tourists who visit tourist attraction in the DIY region have only r2 values of 0.015 or 1.5%. This implies that the satisfaction of tourists is less strong loyalty of tourists who visit tourist attraction in the area of DIY.</p>

Resumen
Purpose This paper aims to propose a framework for engaging tourists as citizen scientists in marine research. Justification for such a framework is driven by the increasing use of citizen science (CS) as a method for collecting data in various research projects. While the tenets of CS exist, few studies have demonstrated how these could be integrated to address the challenges and benefits of engaging tourists as scientists. Design/methodology/approach A systematic review focused on CS-based literature within environmental management, tourism and marine tourism revealed 18 models. Key themes, those repeatedly identified, were extracted. These were adapted to inform the proposed theoretical framework for engaging tourist scientists. Findings The key themes were clarified and incorporated into the framework to enhance the value of marine research by engaging tourists. Important features considered were the singularity and sporadic nature of tourist participation, training and engagement as well as the reliability of data collected by citizen scientists. Practical implications Originality/value The framework informs the unique requirements of research in marine environments and the under-used potential of tourist scientists.

Resumen
Purpose This exploratory research opens a new avenue of tourism destination enquiry for Dhofar Governorate, Oman. It examines the relationship between the food tourism landscape in the country’s southernmost region and the Government’s stated economic development goals. Tourism is a new industry here and in need of sustainable development. The purpose of this paper is to identify how the natural and human resources of the region may be harnessed to expand food tourism pathways and achieve sustainable economic development e.g. maximising stakeholder benefits. Design/methodology/approach The literature review highlights many new developments in food tourism for this baseline study. Qualitative and quantitative (i.e. mixed) methods are used including a case study, a pilot survey of key Government stakeholders in Oman’s Ministry of Tourism, food factory tours and interviews with their executives in Dhofar, direct and participant observation at food establishments and events, visits to popular roadside and market food stalls in Salalah and tourism trend analysis. Findings Some recent trends in food tourism elsewhere may be adapted in Salalah and spark interest in the food culture and heritage of Dhofar. This, in turn, may bring multiple benefits to the destination’s stakeholders. The governorate’s environment yields a rich variety of agricultural and other food products that may be used to provide new forms of food tourism and increase the region’s appeal to tourists beyond the Khareef season. Further possible benefits include safeguarding local food knowledge, production, culture and heritage, developing SMEs, creating new jobs and increasing visitor stay and spend. Research limitations/implications The study is conducted solely in English, whereas Arabic is the mother tongue in Oman. Dhofar is the country’s largest governorate occupying a vast area, not all of which is covered by the study. More data are needed to inform tourism development, policymaking and planning in Dhofar. Practical implications Improving tourism’s sustainability profile, creating successful food tourism products and services and achieving Dhofar’s economic development goals require concerted effort. All are in the best interest of the tourism stakeholders concerned. Social implications This paper provides a foundation for future research on this topic. It highlights the importance of placing food tourism development on a sustainable footing to protect and preserve Dhofar’s unique food culture, heritage, traditions and environment, extend the main tourism season and maximise benefits to stakeholders. Originality/value Recent trends in food tourism are investigated to gauge their applicability in this dynamic region of Oman. Ideas are presented demonstrating possible food tourism pathways to sustainable economic development that benefit a wide range of stakeholders e.g. food tours, food factory tours and shops, food festivals and cookery-school holidays and/or classes.

Development of tourist villages as an effort to reduce poverty. This study amis, i.e: 1) To identify the process of developing Cikolelet Tourism Village, 2) to analyze are the benefits of Cikolelet Tourism Village for the community's economy? 3) to describe the supporting and inhibiting factors in community empowerment efforts through the development of Cikolelet Tourism Village. In this study using a qualitative descriptive method, because it wants to describe the object of research based on the facts that occur in the research place. For data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. The conclusion from the researcher is that the process of developing Cikolelet Tourism Village is carried out in collaboration with the Serang Regency Tourism Office, the Banten Province Tourism Office and the STP Trisakti College. From this process, there are benefits from the economic sector in tourism activities with a profit sharing system for LMDH/managers by 40%, Perhutani 40% and BUMDES 20%, while from the surrounding community they get income from the shop sector (UMKM). However, there is a need for supporting factors, namely assistants in facilitating training program activities that are very supportive of the development of Cikolelet Tourism Village, and the need for the government to improve accessibility to leading tourist attractions in Cikolelet Village. The inhibiting factor is the unavailability of clean water sources in some of the leading natural attractions in Cikolelet Village, such as Cibaja Peak and Pilar, so that the community still has to work together to bring clean water to meet the tourists' facilities.

Resumen
Purpose of the Study: Tourism stakeholders and academics have begun to question the benefits of developing tourism in rural areas. This study aims to identify tourists, tourism entrepreneurs, and employees' characteristics and measure the multiplier effect for local communities in Nglanggeran tourist village, Yogyakarta. Specifically, this study measures income generation (direct, indirect, and induced), employment generation, and the multiplier effect of both. Methodology: This research uses a descriptive quantitative approach. Primary data collection was carried out by the non-participant observation method (for four months). While the technique of determining the sample size (100 tourists, 51 entrepreneurs, and 62 employee respondents) used is non-probability sampling, referring to the Slovin formula with a margin of error of 10%. Main Findings: This study found that local entrepreneurs can be categorized as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Data analysis results show that tourism village had an important economic impact for local communities with a Keynesian income multiplier effect value of 2.57, 1.74 for the Income multiplier type I ratio, and 2.23 for the type II. While the employment multiplier value is 0.0000041. Implication/Applications: This study's results can answer doubts about the economic benefits received by local communities from the development of the Tourism Village. The originality of the study: This study is the latest research, especially considering the implementation of the multiplier effect formula on a small scale. However, this study has some limitations, such as the sample area used (Desa Wisata Nglanggeran) and the context of the tourism impacts studied. Further research is expected to reach other tourist villages and expand its studies to environmental and socio-culture issues.

Resumen
While sustainable tourism and responsible tourism share commonalities of guiding principles, responsible tourism places more emphasis on the behaviors of individual actors. However, little is known about how responsible tourists' behaviors are reconciled by their attitude toward tourism products' economic, cultural, and environmental contribution to a destination. This study explores the role of the tourists' attitude toward mariculture and perception of its benefits within the context of their travel decision-making process. Framed with the theory of planned behavior, this research examines tourists' perception of shellfish mariculture in relationship to their subjective knowledge about mariculture, attitude toward product quality of mariculture, and intention to be involved in marine tourism. This study suggests that the perception of benefits of the product are important considerations when tourists decide their travel activities in coastal destinations.

Resumen
The study examined the effectiveness of pro-poor tourism strategies on local communities in Uganda taking a case study of the Lake Bunyonyi tourist area. Using a descriptive research design, data was collected from a total of 120 community members with the aid of questionnaires. Interviews were also conducted on 10 key informants. The study found that pro-poor tourism strategies that are aimed at enhancing economic benefits to the poor are generally moderately effective as established by the composite mean. This is because the tourism enterprises have employed locals within their ranks, created opportunities for the informal sector and small businesses, boosted household income through home projects such as poultry rearing, bee keeping and fish farming. However, this has been undermined by failure by the enterprises to increased access to market opportunities indirectly to tourism enterprises and to increase community access to investment funds, loans, and micro credit schemes. The study also found that pro-poor tourism strategies that are aimed at enhancing non-financial benefits to the poor are generally moderately effective The strategies have really not succeeded as such in enhancing other non-economic livelihood benefits like; increasing access to health care, health care education for example reproductive health, HIV and malaria prevention; increasing local access to infrastructure and services for example roads, running water, internet, and telephones and improving environmental support. The study found that pro-poor tourism strategies that are aimed at enhancing community participation and partnership are generally moderately effective. The strategies have not fully succeeded in enhancing the participation and involvement of the poor in tourist activities. The study concluded that the pro-poor tourism strategies are only moderately effective in improving the economic benefits to the community, in enhancing non-economic benefits and enhancing of community participation and partnership of the poor in tourist activities.

Resumen
There is a general consensus that tourism activity must have the support of a local community in order to build sustainable tourism development. Among the competitive Romanian tourism products, festival tourism should be mentioned, even though it is relatively new. Therefore, given the traditional communities from rural areas which are confronted with an international flux of tourists, it is vital to analyze the perception of and support for festivals. The presumption is that if there are benefits for the locals, support increases. In order to achieve the objective of the study, research has been conducted among the local rural community of Bontida, which is the location of an international annual music festival. The instrument used was a questionnaire which had four parts that aimed to measure the cultural benefits and costs of the festival and the sense of well-being of the community, given the fact that previous studies focused mainly on the economic and environmental impacts, but not so much on the socio-cultural dimensions. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. The results indicated that the benefits are greater than the perceived costs, a fact which is encouraging from the perspective of developing a sustainable tourism strategy, both by the local authorities and private stakeholders.

Resumen
The study sought to determine tourist perceptions on the threats to the sustainability of wildlife tourism using a case study of two state protected areas in Zimbabwe. Using close-ended questionnaires, we collected data from 128 tourists in December 2015. Results show respondents generally perceived all the seven tested threats as serious, i.e., illegal hunting, destruction of wildlife habitats, human-wildlife conflict, lack of involvement of local people in national park tourism, lack of benefits from the national park to local communities, negative attitudes towards tourism by local residents, and poor local community and national park relationships. Moreover, respondents generally had similar perceptions on the impacts of the threats on the sustainability of wildlife tourism regardless of their gender, age, level of education and income. We conclude tourists are more environmentally conscious and well informed of the threats to wildlife tourism in Zimbabwe, which may indicate willingness to support conservation. It is thus necessary for park management to promote local people participation in ecotourism, enhance innovative law enforcement measures as well as motivate tourists to participate in conservation. Results could help broaden policy decision-makers' knowledge base in response to sustainable wildlife tourism development challenges.

Resumen
The evaluation of climate comfort for tourism can provide information for tourists selecting destinations and tourism operators. Understanding how climate conditions for tourism evolve is increasingly important for strategic tourism planning, particularly in rapidly developing tourism markets like China in a changing climate. Multidimensional climate indices are needed to evaluate climate for tourism, and previous studies in China have used the much criticized “climate index” with low resolution climate data. This study uses the Holiday Climate Index (HCI) and daily data from 775 weather stations to examine interregional differences in the tourist climate comfortable period (TCCP) across China and summarizes the spatiotemporal evolution of TCCP from 1981 to 2010 in a changing climate. Overall, most areas in China have an “excellent” climate for tourism, such that tourists may visit anytime with many choices available. The TCCP in most regions shows an increasing trend, and China benefits more from positive effects of climate change in climatic conditions for tourism, especially in spring and autumn. These results can provide some scientific evidence for understanding human settlement environmental constructions and further contribute in improving local or regional resilience responding to global climate change.

Resumen
AbstractThis study aims to determine the factors that influence the number of domestic and foreign tourist visits and to measure the value of willingness to pay for the benefits of tourism objects in Banda Aceh by using the Travel Cost Method Approach. The type of data used is primary and secondary data. Primary data obtained by non-probability sampling, obtained as many as 30 domestic tourists and foreign tourists as many as 30 people, with the method of analysis of ordinary least square (OLS). Secondary data was obtained from the Central Statistics Agency, Tourism Office and other study literature. The results showed that for domestic tourists, the independent variables on travel costs, alternative costs, time costs, and income had significant effect on the number of domestic tourist visits with an R² value of 0.690. In foreign tourists, the independent variables of travel costs, alternative costs, and income have a significant effect on the number of visits, while the cost of time has no effect on the value of R² 0.693. The average value of WTP of foreign tourists is greater than that of domestic tourists, namely domestic tourists with a WTP of 4,000,000 rupiahs while foreign tourists are 217,000,000 rupiah. Given the large contribution of tourism to the economic conditions in Indonesia, especially in Aceh, the government should maintain and pay attention to the conditions of tourism objects and improve tourism facilities so that tourists reach the maximum level of utility so that it will increase the value of PAPs.
