Resumen

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to high-light the very well-known potential downside of technology found in many sales environments and to provide a fail-safe remedy to telephone Call Reluctance. Design/methodology/approach – The typical, illogical thinking that underpins the reasons that sales people offer for their Call Reluctance are discussed in detail. A time tested platform built upon sound logic and decades of successful implementation is provided. The approach appeals equally to managers and sales personal because it is simple, doable and highly motivational. Findings – The results demonstrate the powerful effect that accurate thinking and an easily implemented management approach has for sales organizations and individuals when embracing the unparalleled value of telephone communication. Originality/value – The work is based upon the authors 40 plus years of applying the thinking and platform presented in the paper. In addition, for the past 15 years, the author has enthusiastically witnessed the incredibly positive impact of his approach to over 400 companies worldwide. He does not claim absolute originality of the content, as like most successful sales people, he is indebted to many, many sales people he has had the pleasure to know and learn from.

Resumen

There are many apparent reasons why people engage in activity, such as to earn money, to become famous, or to advance science. In this report, however, we suggest a potentially deeper reason: People dread idleness, yet they need a reason to be busy. Accordingly, we show in two experiments that without a justification, people choose to be idle; that even a specious justification can motivate people to be busy; and that people who are busy are happier than people who are idle. Curiously, this last effect is true even if people are forced to be busy. Our research suggests that many purported goals that people pursue may be merely justifications to keep themselves busy.

Resumen

This article uses a sociology of knowledge approach to discuss the reproduction of inequality within the sociocultural world of clerical workers. A model of a semiotic square is used to analyze the experiences of bored and busy work. Through this analysis of bored and busy work, the author discovered clerical workers' perceptions and activities which were both subordinating and empowering. Clerical workers participate in the process of subordination through bored/busy work. However, they also participate in empowering strategies through not-bored/not-busy work. This sociology of knowledge approach shows that people are not automatons and strengthens our understanding of the social reproduction of inequality as a multi-faceted phenomenon.

To understand how older adults perceive and navigate their neighborhoods, we examined the implications of activity in their neighborhoods for their health. We interviewed 38 adults (ages 62–85) who lived in San Francisco or Oakland, California. Seven key themes emerged: (1) people express a wide range of expectations for neighborliness, from “we do not bother each other” to “we have keys to each other’s houses”, (2) social distance between “other” people impede a sense of connection, (3) ethnic differences in living arrangements affect activities and activity locations, (4) people try to stay busy, (5) people able to leave their homes do many activities outside their immediate residential neighborhoods, (6) access to a car is a necessity for most, and (7) it is unusual to plan for the future when mobility might become limited. Multiple locations influence older adults’ health, including residential neighborhoods. Older adults value mobility, active lives, and social connections.

In the busy metropolitan cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, people don't have time to invest in waiting for transport. Waiting time for transport in such crowded cities leads to less productivity on a whole. People face this problem in their daily life where they have no idea about the current status of their transport. So, the proposed solution is an android based application that will help the user to check out the current location of the bus and also will help the user to know how much time the bus will take to reach the current location of the user. The system will use GPS as the basis for the application and basic android application will be interfacing with the updated database to provide the real-time data to the user, hence enhancing the user-experience.

In a brief review of scholarship, this paper presents the general assessment of Church decline among the Youth in Australia. Journals, books, magazines, and websites information were the resources employed in the analyses. It was discovered that the spiritual and personal growth, discipleship role, and mission life/work determine the young adult's understanding of the church and environment. Lack of interest, busy life schedule, political issues, and people-pleasing were found to have triggered why the young ones have declined in their church attendance. The review recommended that effective youth ministry is possible if there is a specific and time slot for busy life schedule people; pastors adopt strategic ministry to the youth and focus on enhancing the youth's philosophical thoughts. The findings would help appropriate youth ministry in the contemporary context. Future researchers may consider the explanatory or exploratory mixed-methods design.

The growth of technology make smartphone can control the home appliances. An automated device can work more flexible and efficient, including the use in unlocking door. For busy family or busy people, it is not easy to get out of the seat only to reach the door for unlocking people that already have known and made appointment before. The design of proposed method is based on Android smartphone application, Bluetooth module and Android smartphone application is used for serial communication to the Bluetooth module which is connected in controller to unlock the door. Besides it has low cost, Bluetooth based wireless home automation system can be easily implemented in the home. The suggested system is tested and it gives the expected system with more feature as authentication, either with speech command or with pin. Speech command enacted to the system is also tested the Bluetooth connectivity.

This paper talks about the novel low cost personal reminder hub for commons using eigen face vector recognition and reduced Personal Component Analysis (PCA).Personal face recognition, voice reminder which is trained is provided with appropriate reminders to inform us during our busy problems. We train the reminders inorder to find out each person’s face average weight parameters which is calculated using cluster matrix calculation.When the recipient of the reminder fixes his face in the face recognistion field, hub acquires the face image and tries to compare wth the captured threshold value to all the prelearnt separate threshold values.From the right match with consideration of minimal deviation the face is lightly recognised and the required saved reminder is informed through the inbuilt voice which would change according to our taste. Thus the efficient method of face identification voice reminder for reduced low cost personal reminder is built and this will be helpful for all busy working people and for family reminders like childrens or working people task reminder, patient tablet reminder etc.

Increasing in infrastructure the selection towards private vehicle is boosting. Municipality of Beijing is busy to use the conventional ways to solve the congestion problem rather than the smart solution, what megacities need to adopt. Beijing is second-worst in length of communing time. This paper addresses the traffic congestion problem in the central part of the Beijing by using “Mixed Use Small Block Concept”, where the network of roads spreads like veins in a human body, and the accessibility around center is dependent on vehicle. The aim is to recover the areas from cars and give it to residential and improve their accessibility by changing the mode of travel from car to walking and cycling, and provide clear boundaries and redesign the area by using Small Block Mixed use concept. There can be a lot of individuals out there who need constant help – may it be our elderly people, family members, the ones who have special needs. These people apparently need the kind of care which most busy family members cannot provide. Some people may forget to take the medicines at the correct time and can forget the medicines which they have to take. So in order to help them with this liability we have developed this project. The people are provided a smart med box on which there will be a display which notifies the people about the medicine. Along with this we can alert them with an alarm and light indications. So that even if the person is sleeping or busy with some work the alarm helps in alerting him. to confirm that the person has taken that medicine or not we can put one button at the opening end of the pill box. so when the person tries to open the box the button is pressed and the alarm will be off only if the buzzer is pressed by this data we can tell that the person has taken medicine. It comes with one more feature that when the person is feeling uneasy or in case of some emergency he can notify the people by pressing the button on the device. There are different buttons, one is used to notify the doctor and the other one is used to notify family members about the emergency.

When asked how their lives are, the most popular answer that people give is that they are busy all the time. Being busy indicates working long hours and lacking leisure time. While research on social status has primarily focused on money as an indicator of one’s social status, it is important to know whether the factors (in our case, busyness) other than money have an effect on the perception of one’s social status. The aim of this study is to investigate whether devoting more time to work is a demonstration of higher social status. With this aim, the relationship between busyness and social status is examined. Data for the study were collected from 225 white-collar employees working in banking, textile, chemical, and construction sectors in Istanbul, Turkey. According to the findings, no significant relationship was found between busyness and social status. Based on additional general questions in the questionnaire, most of the respondents reported that they see themselves as busy persons and have a social status above average.

The charlatans of seventeenth-century Paris attracted customers to view and buy their wares by producing and participating in free theatrical performances in the open air. Some of them worked solo, at ground level or ‘mounting a bench’—hence the term ‘mountebank’. Others, however, worked with sizeable troupes of performers on large stages in busy metropolitan interchanges traversed by all strata of society. This made them public figures, among the best known in France. They worked on the same principle as commercial television: attract people, by means of some sort of entertainment, to focus their attention on one spot, and then take a break to sell them wonderful products at a very low price that will make them young, hard-bodied, and happy.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how older workers and people who have already retired speak about ageing and change and their experience of retirement. Design/methodology/approach – A qualitative study is described in which focus groups with older workers and semi-structured interviews with retired people were carried out. The recorded data were analysed using a linguistic approach (Discourse Analysis), which investigates in detail how people express their views and opinions and how their discourse might relate to societal attitudes towards ageing and retirement. Findings – Many older people who were still at work were concerned that they would decline and become senile once they retired unless they could remain active in some way. This was confirmed by people who had already retired and who spoke about how keeping busy and active had resulted in successful retirement and ageing. Research limitations/implications – Participants from four focus groups and five interview respondents represent only a small sample of older people who are still working or who are retired. This means that the results of this study cannot be extended to include all older workers and retired people. Social implications – This study will help to raise awareness of the concerns of older workers who may be nearing retirement, and how keeping busy and active after leaving work is considered by retirees to be part of successful retirement and helping to combat decline. Originality/value – A study of this nature which examines how older workers express their views about retirement using Discourse Analysis is original and may be used as a method for future research into other aspects of being older at work.

This study tested, in a natural setting, the effect of mimicry on people's disposition toward helping others and the extent to which this helping behavior is extended to people not directly involved in the mimicry situation. In the main street of a busy town, men ( n = 101) and women ( n = 109) passersby were encountered and asked for directions. These passersby were subjected to mimicry by naïve confederates who mimicked either verbal behavior alone or verbal and nonverbal behaviors together, including arm, hand, and head movements. In the control condition, passersby were not mimicked. Following this first encounter, each subject was then met further down the street by a second confederate who asked for money. The results show that people who had been mimicked complied more often with a request for money and gave significantly more, suggesting they were more helpful and more generous toward other people, even complete strangers.

McDonalds is one of the brands that release the APP on the Smartphone, the APP is called McDonalds McDelivery APP. It suitable for the way of today’s society way of life, where people are busy and don’t want to line and queue in store to buy foods and beverages for too long. People have a freedom to choose and to order through their Smartphone. The mobile APP offers the advantages, it is easy to operate, easy to use, and doesn’t spend a lot of money. In order to understand the consumers behaviour of using APP, this study conduct the descriptive statistical analysis, variance analysis and regression analysis to detect technology acceptance model for perceived usefulness, ease of use, behaviour intention and actual of use. This study conduct the questionnaire through online google forms and obtained 109 valid questionnaires for analysis. We finds that there was no significant effect on degree of the users, and frequencies of using internet. Perceived usefulness and ease of use of behavioural intentions, behavioural intentions and actual of use had significantly difference.

Purpose Vanquis Bank has seen a significant uplift to learning engagement levels after launching a mobile micro-learning strategy with a third-party, Netflix style soft skills e-learning platform. Design/methodology/approach The platform offers a convenient way to help staff at all levels develop soft skills – like negotiation, dealing with difficult conversations, social media at work, team work, digital skills, leadership and project management. Findings Since launching the programme in December 2018, 41 per cent of employees have completed an optional soft skills training course, whereas previously, the figure was 2 per cent of all employees. This represents a 95 per cent uplift in voluntary learning engagement. Originality/value Vanquis Bank aims to create a mind-set of “learning in work”, whereby employee development becomes as an intrinsic part of daily working life, rather than something to squeeze into an already very busy schedule.

Painting a yellow center line at blind curves on a busy multiuser path (bicyclists, pedestrians, in-line skaters, runners) decreased the percentage of people who “went the wrong way” on the path, in a before-and-after study whose sample size was 2,147. A busy 3.6-m (12-ft) paved recreational and commuting path in Philadelphia circles the Schuylkill River for 13.5 km (8.4 mi). There are numerous blind curves caused by hedges, rock outcrops, and bridge piers. Many people were traveling on the wrong side around sharp blind curves. Counts were taken and video-tapes made in order to determine the percentage of bicyclists, pedestrians, in-line skaters, and runners on the proper side, on the wrong side, and passing on the wrong side. Then a solid-yellow center line and directional arrows were neatly spray painted at the blind curves, and after counts were taken. The percentage of wrong-side travel fell from 35 percent to 15 percent, a 57 percent reduction. White lines and arrows were placed at driveways and road crossings. The white lines reduced wrongway travel from 30 percent to 10 percent, a reduction of 66 percent. Painted center lines kept people on the proper side and reduced the likelihood of conflicts and crashes. Paint is easy, fast, and inexpensive, and creates no physical obstacle; it is hard to damage and it works without education of the public.

The advent of personal digital assistants (PDAs) at the turn of this century opened new doors to functional independence for people with cognitive impairment. Pocket-sized electronic reminders helped people keep appointments, take medications on time, and move from task to task across a busy day, often without the need for human supervision. As these tools have evolved into smartphones and tablets sporting multiple applications (apps), their uses as assistive technology have expanded to behavioral coaching, augmentative communication, and telehealth purposes, among many others. With so many choices, selecting an appropriate device and app suite for a particular user can seem daunting, but a stepwise, theoretically-based assessment process, a focus on essential intervention strategies, and a willingness to adapt to new devices and changing user needs, can provide important supports for people with cognitive-behavioral challenges.

The purpose of this study is to find the causative factors and problems of the GKSI Filadelfia Buntu Barana congregation that are less experiencing spiritual growth. Than directed through the strategy of pastors or servants of God to increase formation of the congregation in the midst of many of their busy actifities that prioritize work rather than worship or followship in church on Sundays. The methods used in this study are: First, the library research method is a study of books end literature relating to this research as a theorectical reference. Second, the method of field research is research conducted directly to the object of research by observation or direct observation in the field, and interviews. The conclusions of this study are: first, the spiritual growth hampered by the GKSI Buntu Barana congregation because there is not yet real repentance for some congregations, second, there are obstacles that hinder the spiritual growth of the GKSI Buntu Barana congregation, including the lack of community and social environment that does not support spiritual growth of the church. Third, some effective strategies in increasing the spiritual quality of congregants are by engaging in their busy activities by getting involved in their busy work, outside of worship hours as Christians should: Suday Services, Hausehold Services, School Services Sunday, Youth Services, Church prayer Services, and visits if they are at home. In addition we as servents of Gad often provide young people with a variety of creativity.

Summary Introduction. People with epilepsy (PWE) have a higher risk of developing depression and anxiety than people without epilepsy. However, understanding and management of that issue remain under-recognized. Aim. To emphesize: a) the relationship between depression, anxiety, and epilepsy, and b) to suggest practical strategies for their identification by clinicians. Methods. The current literatures was reviewed investigating the impact of depression and anxiety in PWE and those examining the validity of simple screening tools for the detection of depression and anxiety. Review. Approximately one quarter of PWE have been known to be suffered from depression. The frequency of depression and anxiety was closely related to poor seizure control. Depression and anxiety have been reported to have a bidirectional relationship with epilepsy. The higher degree of depression and anxiety was more likely to elicit the suicidal ideation and attempt, adverse events and poor compliance of antiepileptic drugs, poor surgical outcome, and eventually, poor quality of life. Furthermore, depression and anxiety were closely associated with perceived stigma, obsessive-compulsive symptom, aggression, fatigue, and perceived stress. Conclusions. Clinicians who take care of PWE in a busy clinical setting should identify their psychiatric problems by brief screening tools and treat them instantly to minimize their negative impacts.

Objective The aim of this study was to describe the experiences of communication for staff providing cardiac care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients in hospital and discuss potential improvements. Methods Focus group discussions were performed with 58 multidisciplinary staff who provide care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cardiac patients in two metropolitan and two regional hospitals in South Australia and Northern Territory. Inductive thematic analysis was undertaken to identify staff perceptions of communication challenges and strategies for improvement. Results There were five key themes: (1) communication is central to good care; (2) communication within busy clinical environments; (3) supporting a strong Aboriginal workforce; (4) a cultural as well as clinical focus; and (5) particular challenges working with patients from remote areas. Conclusions Providing effective communication that is both clinically and culturally appropriate is often challenging within a busy and non-adaptive hospital environment. Moving beyond clinical tasks, increased Aboriginal and Torres Strat Islander health workforce and cultural competency, supporting coordinated care and improved skills are required to meet the communication needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients. What is known about this topic? Communication between patients, their families and hospital staff is crucial for health care quality and safety. There is little understanding of the challenges and opportunities for staff to meet the communication needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cardiac patients to address disparities in acute care settings. What does this paper add? This paper discusses the barriers and potential improvements, as identified by hospital staff providing care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cardiac patients in both metropolitan and regional settings. What are the implications for practitioners? Practitioners should be trained and supported in providing both clinically and culturally safe care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients. This requires adequate time, two-way communication and resources to support and facilitate effective communication.

Many careers involve working at multiple locations with unpredictable daily schedules. Professionals may have several locations from which they conduct business. Electronic mail (e-mail) and other features of the Internet have facillitated the evolution of the virtual office, which gives the appearance of a single point of contact with mobile, busy people. E-mail is the most obvious use of the Internet. E-mail groups allow for effective discussions with people of similar interests and the exchange of hard-to-acess expert information. Websites and e-mail groups allow rapid dissemination and discussion of multimedia information. The Vegetable Research and Information Center is an example of how to extend the virtual office concept to the departmental level, allowing spatially scattered researchers, extension workers, and their clientele to work together and exchange information.

Economic growth and the growth of restaurant activities is very rapid, will affect many aspects of the economy, the need for staples, and other needs make distribution of merchandise will be increasingly busy. Nowadays, restaurant business is a solution for entrepreneurs, because the busyness of the community will make them prefer the meaning of fast food. Consumers will see the quality of products from the retail store they will buy, as well as the quality of service, whether the brand image displayed by fast food restaurants is in accordance with customer satisfaction. It is expected that loyalty will arise if satisfaction arises in the minds of these consumers. Data analysis techniques used are correlation analysis techniques and SEM (structural equation model) analysis techniques. Correlation analysis techniques to determine the relationship between variables, while SEM analysis techniques to determine how much influence the independent variable has on the dependent variable. The software used to process and analyze data from this study is Smart PLS version 3.0.

On a bright day in January 1987, my host in the Awlad ʿAli bedouin community in Egypt in which I had been doing research invited me to accompany him on a con dolence call. He knew how enthusiastic I was about visiting people who stillcamped in traditional tents in the desert, and this set of families, he assured me, lived in a beautiful area. The group's patriarch had died twenty days ago, but my host had been too busy to go so only his younger brothers had paid their respects. He had just heard, though, that the bereaved family was upset he had not come himself. So we drove off in his car, with his two cowives in the back seat, stop ping at the market town nearby to buy a fat sheep to take with us. As they loaded the beast into his car, my host complained about how expensive sheep had be come. The sound of its bleating in the trunk reminded me of trips to weddings, when sheep are also obligatory gifts.

Fluid intake is important for people to maintain body fluid homeostasis. Inadequate fluid intake leads to negative health consequences, such as headache, dizziness and urolithiasis. However, people in busy lifestyles usually forget to drink sufficient water and neglect the importance of fluid intake. Fluid intake management is important to assist people in adopting individual drinking behaviors. This work aims to propose a fluid intake monitoring system with a wearable inertial sensor using a hierarchical approach to detect drinking activities, recognize sip gestures and estimate fluid intake amount. Additionally, container-dependent amount estimation models are developed due to the influence of containers on fluid intake amount. The proposed fluid intake monitoring system could achieve 94.42% accuracy, 90.17% sensitivity, and 40.11% mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) for drinking detection, gesture spotting and amount estimation, respectively. Particularly, MAPE of amount estimation is improved approximately 10% compared to the typical approaches. The results have demonstrated the feasibility and the effectiveness of the proposed fluid intake monitoring system.
