Resumen
Abstract Galectin-1 is overexpressed in a wide range of malignant cancers and is strongly associated with immune suppression as well as cancer aggressiveness. However, effective therapeutics targeting Galectin-1 remain elusive in clinical practice. Herein, we report an activatable nano-system, termed Pr5S, to downregulate Galectin-1 through in vivo gene silencing. Pr5S features a bio-responsive lattice that can protect siRNA during circulation and efficiently break down for gene interference upon exposure to the elevated reductive pressure in the tumor microenvironment. Abstract Gastric cancer (GC) ranks the fifth common cancer worldwide. Patients with GC suffer from a low 5-y survival rate due to the lack of effective treatments. Based on the genomic and molecular characteristics of GC, the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) classified GC into four molecular subtypes: microsatellite-instable (MSI), Epstein-Barr virus-positive (EBV), chromosomal-instable (CIN), and genomically stable (GS). CIN tumors usually occur at gastroesophageal junction and normally belong to intestinal type of Lauren classification, which are characterized by DNA anueploidy, abnormal chromosom

Abstract Introduction: CD19 targeted autologous CAR-T therapies have been approved for the treatment of r/r B-ALL and greatly improved outcome. However, some patients may not be eligible to receive autologous CAR-T. TruUCAR™ GC502 is an allogeneic, universal CAR-T product with CD19/CD7 dual directed CAR. Preclinical data of GC502 were reported at ASH 2021 (Abstract 148500). Here, we report early clinical results from a phase I open-label, non-randomized, prospective investigator initiate trial (IIT) of GC502 in r/r B-ALL patients. Abstract Many solid tumors, such as colorectal cancer (CRC) and lung cancer, are dependent on epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) pathway for tumor growth. Antibodies that inhibit EGFR signaling, such as Cetuximab, show clinical efficacy but are associated with on-target toxicities that potentially limit the drug efficacy. To enhance the EGFR signaling inhibition and reduce on-target toxicities, we performed bioinformatics analysis for EGFR/TAA co-expression. We found that B7-H3, a member of the B7 family of immune checkpoint proteins, is broadly expressed in many solid tumors and their ex

Patient derived xenograft (PDX) models can accurately reflect cancer responses to therapies, thus being recognized as a gold standard in oncology drug development. However, PDX models can be labor intensive, time-consuming and costly. The waveguide structure is based on a silicon-on-insulator platform which is easy to realize using standard CMOS technology. The numerical study is conducted via 3D-finite element method (FEM). The transmittance and polarization extinction ratio (PER) is enhanced by optimizing the geometric parameters of the device. As a result, a TM polarized light can travel in the waveguide with ~2 dB loss for all C-band telecommunication wavelength window whereas the TE polarized light suf

Redox flow batteries (RFBs) are a promising technology for grid scale stationary energy storage to complement renewable energy systems. These batteries have a relatively low energy density; however, they offer important advantages, including: long life-time; decoupled energy (arbitrarily large electrolyte volume) and power (electrode area); high round-trip efficiency; scalability and design flexibility; fast response; and low environmental impacts. These advantages make them superior to many energy storage technologies for stationary applications [1-4]. Among the various types of RFBs, vanadiu
