Integrated paintings are paintings that distinguish themselves from non-traditional materials. It is the use of newspapers, and magazines to make collages and paper cutouts which are not normal painting works of art. The main feature of integrated painting is the variety of materials chosen and the mix and match of multiple materials used. In contemporary art, the use of materials has been reflected in a variety of paintings. In addition to natural materials, the materials created by modern technology also bring more possibilities for the creation of paintings. The different materials and thei

We have reported that the maximal velocity of shortening and myofibrillar adenosine triphosphatase (ATPase) activity of antigen-sensitized airway smooth muscle are higher than that of nonsensitized airway smooth muscle (Kong, S. K., R. P. C. Shiu, and N. L. Stephens. J. Appl. Physiol. 60: 92–94, 1986). To extend these studies, we attempted to determine whether the increased myofibrillar ATPase activity from sensitized airway smooth muscle was associated with either a change in distribution of two myosin heavy chain isozymes or an increase in myosin light chain phosphorylation. The aim of this study was to assess the presence of piroplasms in dogs in the metropolitan region of the city of Piura, Peru. Two hundred and twelve canine blood samples were randomly collected. The deoxyribonucleic acid was extracted from each blood sample and was tested using the polymerase chain reaction, restriction fragment length polymorphism and sequence analyses. The study showed the occurrence of Babesia vogeli. For the first time, this approach revealed the presence of canine babesiosis caused by B. vogeli in Peru. This highlights the need to test for pathogens that might be responsi

Canine monocytic ehrlichiosis is a serious tick-transmitted, globally distributed disease of dogs that is caused by Ehrlichia canis. It primarily affects platelets, monocytes, and granulocytes. Acute infections in dogs respond favourably to therapy, however chronic disease results in bone marrow failure and death. The disease can be diagnosed based on clinical manifestations, haematology, microscopy, indirect immunofluorescence test (IFAT), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). This study describes the use of a newly constructed set of primers that amplifies an U-base pair (bp) segment of Borrelia burgdorferi chromosomal DNA. This 85-bp product is not produced when other Borrelia species, Leptospira, or other bacteria are subjected to polymerase chain reaction (PCR). We also describe a rapid method of optimizing the amplification of B. burgdorferi DNA from canine ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid-treated blood and urine samples that circumvents some of the problems encountered due to low number of spirochetes in clinical specimens and that removes inhibiting substances

The impaction of maxillary canines is one of the biggest challenges in orthodontics practice. This case report describes successful surgical and orthodontic approach to the treatment of palatally impacted maxillary canine in a 14-year-old boy. Intraoral clinical examination revealed an absence of the upper right canine, an ectopic position of the upper left canine and crowding in the maxillary arch. The impaction of right maxillary canine and class II malocclusion were confirmed by lateral cephalogram, orthopantomogram and cone beam computed tomography. In the first phase, a transpalatal arch

Abstract Objective To develop a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique to identify Toxoplasma gondii DNA in biological samples from cats and dogs. Design To artificially create samples that would mimic those acquired in a clinical setting from animals with naturally acquired toxoplasmosis. Using these samples, a PCR test to identify T gondii DNA was developed. Sample Population Feline and canine aqueous humor, CSF, serum, and blood samples. Procedure Tachyzoites of several strains of T gondii grown in cell culture were added to feline and canine aqueous humor, CSF, serum, and blood samples.

Forty-eight cases of canine mammary cancer were investigated to evaluate the immunohistochemical distribution of the γ2 chain of laminin-332. Tumor cells were compared to a pool of normal mammary tissues using quantitative RT-PCR. The western blot was performed in eight tumor samples as complementary test to evaluate protein integrity. Immunohistochemistry experiments showed negative, focal, and weak expression of laminin-332 γ2 in tumors with the worst prognosis. Quantitative PCR revealed downregulation of the gene in 27 (56.2%) of the animals. Out of the 16 dogs with γ2 chain overexpression,

The practice of mixing food using canine meat has been widely found. This practice is motivated by the low price of canine meat in the market. The purpose of this research was to design a species-specific primer (SSP) and develop a real-time PCR method for analyzing canine meat (Canis lupus familiaris) in mackerel meatballs intended for halal authentication. The design of SSP was carried out in silico using NCBI-Primer BLAST and IDT sites. The primer specificity analysis was performed on DNA canine and 8 animals namely mackerel, chicken, pig, goat, frog, cow, rat, and tree shrew using real-tim

Canine parvovirus 2 (CPV-2) is the causative agent of acute hemorrhagic enteritis and myocarditis in dogs. In this study the nucleotide sequence of the VP1/VP2 gene of a CPV isolate from India was analyzed and the phylogenetic relationship with other CPV isolates was established. Out of 36 samples analyzed, 16 were found positive for CPV-2 by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Among the 16 positive samples, five were inoculated in MDCK cells for isolation out of which one adapted successfully to the cell culture system. Phylogenetic analysis based on the nucleotide sequence of the VP-1/VP-2 gene

Resumen
We face difficulty in individual canine retraction in the bracket system lacking power arms on the canines. When orthodontic force is applied through the center of resistance (CR), then, tooth translation ensues. Forces applied at a distance from the CR create a moment that tends to rotate and tip the tooth. The tendency of tipping is increased in the bracket system lacking power arm, since, force is applied more occlusally. Hence, we have designed a chair side custom made jig to retract the canines individually.
